After they made their way back to the house the group had left Kenta and Keina in a room alone. Throughout that time Kenta began explaining to Keina
everything, about their parents, in detail what the Soul Society was, who he was….What had happened to him. He explained to her the experiments having to pause a few times to wipe his eyes, and with all those times came in a hug from his older sister.
After Kenta finished explaining everything, Keina took a few minutes to process all the information. Kenta decided to leave her for a bit until she was ready to talk, and when she was ready Kenta came back with a tray of food for her. Although she knew about the Reiryoku and food deal, she looked tired and….Well she could use something to eat.
She accepted it with a thank you and ate it in a matter of minutes….All the medium sized ramen bowl, rice, and tea. Girl had an appetite; she gave a small burp causing them to laugh.
They sat in silence for a few minutes before Keina began speaking, there wasn’t much he needed to know about her human life…..Of course he knew most of that, how she liked to volunteer and help with kids. How she liked helping in gardens, helping people in general. She was also pretty decent at sports….Shockingly never had a boyfriend, as if that was something she cared about though….But was unrightfully killed by a hollow, after she had survived the car crash that killed his mother and father….Also him while in his mother’s womb. Then had her soul trapped….There wasn’t much to tell.
Though she did tell him about what happened to her, what Tenchi did to her….The experiments, the pain, the voices she heard….Even though she kept it together Kenta knew she was hurting emotionally, but he let her finish. She also wanted give him details on how it worked, well, from what she knew…..Obviously physical appearance was a change, everything pretty much got darker, though some places could get lighter. That was due to the Hollow’s darker colors, atleast from the ones they used.
That was halfway through the process, as they needed to implement Hollow DNA. Though the experiments themselves didn’t gain Vizard powers, they were only given some so that the hollows implemented on them could survive there. The bodies gave greater psychical capabilities, could confuse and stop an opponent even if sometimes the hollow masks were visible. That was the purpose of using Shinigami and souls, though she didn’t know about creating their own weapons. She rubbed her arm looking at Kenta whom gave her a hug, careful not to be too tight with his arms….He finally had his sister there but couldn’t even hug her as tight as he wanted; she gave him a tight one though.
“I know it hurts sis….But you’ll…We’ll get over it, together in time,” Kenta told her, “We’ll find Tenchi, get you justice. He’ll be shut down, him and his projects.”
Kenta then scooted back, watching as Keina nodded slightly, “Also, while you were I was thinking….”
“About?” Kenta asked with a tilt to his head.
“I want to become a Shinigami; I want to help catch these guys….”
Kenta clenched his fist but closed his eyes sighing; he wasn’t just going to let out whatever he was thinking….He was going to actually think about what he wanted to say instead of letting his emotions get ahead of him. He opened his eyes looking calmly, “I’m not going to control your life here….Just know that being a Shinigami is a very dangerous thing, especially in recent times.”
“I know Kenta, but….I won’t feel good if I just sit here doing nothing while you and others are out risking their lives,” Keina replied, “I also want to avoid anyone else being hurt, like me….Like you.”
Kenta nodded and stood with his hands in his pockets, “I’ll let you sleep on it, ‘cause you look a bit tired….But if you still decide you want to be a Shinigami afterwards then I’ll train you, those fuckers in the academy aren’t going to teach you anything good.”
Kenta turned around and left the room, looking back at Keina before sliding the door shut and walking outside the house ignoring the group whom called his name. He looked into the sky and hadn’t noticed how much time had passed, which seemed to happen quite a bit. Though the time didn’t matter anymore, he had freed those people and his sister…
Walking for about twenty minutes Kenta had walked far away from the home, and had ended up in a small area with a single cabin with a few trees. He sighed as he walked closer, feeling tears come from his eyes. He placed a hand on the door slowly opening, stepping inside even slower. The inside was abandoned though looked as if someone deserted it without cleaning it; Kenta sniffled before wiping his eyes as he walked in further. His hand brushed gently across a table as he walked forward.
He came into what looked to be a living room, walking to a dresser he picked up a photo staring at it….His parents, a photo of his parents. He smirked at how much Keina looked like them….Or, well, used to. He didn’t really look like either aside from a few other details; he guessed that just how it ran….He never really fit, even with genetics.
He sighed, “Mom, dad….Everything has been looking up for me, first time in hundreds of years I’m actually starting to feel happy. And not just an in the moment thing, but actually happy….I’ve gaining friends like you wanted mom, and eating healthy,” he chuckled, “Come to think of it I haven’t really eaten since I’ve came back….So three days? But I will, next time I get the chance, I promise you. Dad….I think I’m finally strong now; can protect the people I love. Something you always told me, a man ain’t a man unless he protects the ones he loves. Even if he fails, atleast he tried. Also we don’t raise any cowards….Yeah, thank you. Now Keina is following in those footsteps…And even though I don’t want her to become a Shinigami, for the reason I won’t always be there to protect her….I know she’ll be great as one, and become stronger than us both. Not to mention she’ll make good friends, yeah, no reason to worry…She’ll be ok…Won’t she?”
Kenta placed his hand on the hilt of his Zanpakuto, “Alright….Let’s do it….Mom, dad, this is really the final goodbye….Thank you. Rise from hell, Hide Ryuu!” Kenta activated his Shikai, stopping for a second as he felt what he thought was….An embrace, from two people. He shook before sniffling. “Amaterasu,” he said as a tear dropped. The only liquid that couldn’t evaporate from his flames….
Kenta cleared himself up, sealing his Zanpakuto and putting it back in his sheath as he walked away from the burned down cabin. No more crying over it, that was the last time….The last goodbye.
Walking into Squad ten Kenta walked to Hikari’s office and simply walked in knowing Hikari sensed him, and how long did they know each other?....He wasn’t going to be formal, not to a long time friend. Show respect though? Of course, always.
“So, Deuce and Leon huh?” Hikari asked.
“So they did call Squad ten over for the pick-up,” Kenta said.
“Yeah, and how useful it was…..Nice job,” Hikari said, “How is Keina?”
“She’s doing well….She actually wants to become a Shinigami.”
“And your take on it?”
“Obviously I don’t want it to be Hikari!” Kenta said, “….But it’s her choice, so if she’s serious then I’ll train her. I’ll also try to push her towards Squad ten, atleast I’ll know she’ll be safe here since I won’t be here anymore.”
Hikari nodded, “I’ll do everything in my power to make sure she’s alright, and that she’ll stay that way. Though it doesn’t mean she won’t face any dangers, but she
will be protected.”
“Good,” Kenta said with a sigh as he closed his eyes, opening them a few seconds later. Kenta then began telling Hikari information he’d gathered from Keina, and Hikari sharing information with him as well. Kenta then stood up and left, looking back as he watched Tabo enter Hikari’s office hearing something about a day off and hair.
Kenta exited Squad ten and walked to Squad Two hoping he could find Rio there, if she was there…..Though he wasn’t familiar with the Squad two barracks and somehow ended up in a training room. He saw some girl training in the corner and began walking up to her. Rubbing the back of his neck he walked closer, “Uh excuse me? Do you know where your Lieutenant is?”
