Ears ringing and blocking out all noise, Maya looked in horror as the one she hit transformed into a horrific bat creature. Complete with a disgusting… bat dick. She straight up just wanted to bleach her eyes at the sight of it. She felt sick all over again and the sheer shock of what she was seeing stopped her from attacking him even as he transformed.

She screamed, soundless to her own ears, as he leapt at her claws first - though her worry was less the claws and more that. She brought her arms up to her face as she blasted the surrounding area with sound waves in reaction. She didn’t care even as she realised how stupid it was to hit everything around her… just immediately afterwards shot another directed blast at the naked abomination even as her head spun.

The sprinklers suddenly started as she started to shuffle back towards the stairs, shivering from the sudden shower and loud ringing in her ears - there was no way she was hearing anytime soon. She was certain that her attacks won’t have done much more than keep him away from her… what more could she do but constantly hit him until it tired her out?

As the sun began to rise, its light shone through the tent and pulled Ceri out of her sleep. It was a force of habit to wake up at the crack of dawn - but no earlier, so she got as much rest as she could after and before long hard days. She sighed as she blinked away the last dregs of sleep and forced herself up. She immediately got up, changing into her simple undershirt, tunic and trousers - she would get on her heavier armour before they went out to fight. She didn’t even bother trying to brush her hair but instead just braided the long, messy curls. She grabbed her long dagger and sheathed it at her hip and headed outside.

“Good morning, Emrys,” she smiled to the quartermaster with a nod, gladly taking a bowl of beans and heading into the meeting tent. Everyone was beginning to filter in and she took a place in the middle of the table. She climbed up onto the chair and stood in it rather than sitting, her short stature meaning that if she sat she wouldn’t be able to see the table. Really they should invest in some chairs for the shorter folk… it would certainly make their life easier.

Ceri couldn’t hold back the downward curl of her lips at the mention of the Nepharie government, baring her teeth slightly before forcing herself back to a neutral expression. Now was not the time to think about those things… They were paying and that was all the matter. She surveyed the map while listening to what the others said.

“What we can do is have a couple of our own archers and crossbowmen fire shots at the crossbowmen manning the battlements first, from the cover of the treeline while the rest of our troops stay a bit further behind. It's no longer than two-hundred yards, so your bows should make it, but they won't be easy shots.”
Irae

“I can hit them from the treeline,” Ceri said with utmost confidence, pointing to the hard candy that Rowan had placed there and then to the watchtower itself. “We won’t only have to offer supporting, distracting fire but I’m confident that we can take them out. I have plenty of experience attacking Nepharie watchtowers so I know where to shoot. You say the shots won’t be easy, and you’re right, but if you know where to aim...”

She grinned, though there was a savage spark in her dark eyes, drawing a hand across her throat. It was a shame that it was just bandits they were taking out and not members of the Nepharie military themselves… but then again, she had put those days behind her. She did not speak of her freedom fighters days with any of the members of the Pride but some probably guessed or assumed her bad blood with Nepharie anyway, given that she was a West Ostaran. She didn’t bother to hide it.

“And I agree with it being at Dusk,” she nodded in agreement to Rowan and Iulian. “They won’t be able to easily see archers or climbers, and it will be difficult to pinpoint where we’re shooting from.” She tilted her head and looked over to Iulian. “And if Iulian draws some of them out, we can split our ranged fire between those who leave the tower and taking out their own crossbowmen.”

"And how much are we being paid?"
Morag-Nog

More quietly, she added, “I would also like to know how much we’re getting paid.”

She wanted to know if it was worth it for doing the dirty work of the Nepharie Government.

@FernStone finally you did what savo failed to do: follow instructions.

(The move names are shit and will definitely be changed when I think of better ones)

“What the fuck,” Maya muttered as they reached the basement at the bottom of the stairs… and looked like they’d walked right into some kind of knock off horror movie. Had she accidentally taken drugs? Was she more drunk than she thought? Nah, she shouldn’t be surprised - weird stuff was the new normal, really. But still it took moments to take in all the glowing symbols and the weird, pale rednecks that had captured them.

One was naked. Maya gagged at the sight as some of the alcohol threatened to come back up… thankfully she resisted the urge to vomit. Not the kind of naked guy she liked to see.

She stepped around Lyss as Madison pushed to the front and activated the jaws, own stance as solid and threatening as she could make it - which wasn’t very, considering she was a small, somewhat drunk Asian girl. She nodded her agreement to everything Lyss said even as half of it went over her head (and she really didn’t recognise them).

"Maya, Madison, knock 'em out for me."
Lyss

“On it,” Maya gave a clumsy, half mock, salute to Lyss before turning to narrow her eyes at the rednecks. It took her somewhat drunk mind a moment to think out a course of action… stopping her from just straight up sound blasting the entire area. Mostly because she didn’t want to knock over the other coven members too.

Instead she turned her focus to the naked one, who in her mind was the biggest threat (to her eyes). She pushed out her hands and shot a focused, powerful blast of sound at him - knocking herself back and onto the floor as she did so.

Isla nodded to Hagan, stuffing her hands back into the pocket of her hoodie now that they were free again. She looked around with a slightly tilted head. Two of the teenagers were talking to each other while the other one was still strumming his guitar… which then started glowing blue in a similar way to how her beanie did whenever she teleported. He walked outside towards where Penny had gone and she shrugged.

"Fuck that. We need to hit up a place so I can get some damn cigarettes..."
Zoey

“Orrr we could go to a place that has both!” Isla suggested with a grin. Convenience stores with both were a thing! She understood Zoey’s need for nicotine, but she also wanted food and was pretty certain they’d be able to find a place that had both.

"We're on the same page about leaving, yeah? But should we grab supplies or just haul ass? Do we even know what are our options for even leavin' this shithole?"
Hagan

“I personally think we should grab supplies before we get outta here,” she said, turning her head to look where Trent and Finley were still sitting. She didn’t know shit about trying to escape some weird shared dream or whatever this was, but she could pretend to be confident. As if this wasn’t all highkey terrifying for her. She was completely on edge but it was easy to not show that, because she’d lived her entire life hiding that. “Dunno about you, but I find it easier to run when I ain’t worrying about whether I’ll run outta water or not.”

The last question was one she definitely didn’t have an answer for, but she still responded. “I dunno about options, but why don’t we just try walking? We ain’t checked out much of this place… Maybe there’s an obvious exit?”

She then looked towards the door, leading to where Penny and Odessa were. “I feel like if anyone has an idea, it’d be that Odessa girl, ay?”

"Oh my God, please, please, please don't tell anyone about this. Please."
Madison

Maya had automatically taken a step back as Madison walked up to them, clearly very angry. That was not the reaction she’d expected but… she hadn’t known what to expect anyway. But it wasn’t like they’d known she would be here! Normally she’d argue with Madison in this, get all in her face about it, but thankfully for all the alcohol dampened her temper. She just nodded in agreement with what Quinn said (something new happened every day). “I won’t tell.”

Then there was a scream.

Maya spun around, immediately on alert. She shook her head at Quinn. “That isn’t the kind of scream you’d hear from sex.”

That was definitely the kind from being attacked… and whatever it was, she wasn’t just going to stand there and do nothing. As much as she wanted to just rush towards the screams she held back and turned her head to Lyss, waiting for her to say what to do. It was a step towards teamwork for her (and likely to not happen when she was sober).

"Come on, girls. We gotta go help her, no matter how drunk we are."
Lyss

“I’m right behind you, got your back,” Maya nodded, not bothering to pick something up like Lyss had - she knew she’d be much more effective just using her abstraction. So she stuck right behind Lyss and followed the other girl in the direction of the scream. She kept herself entirely read to blast everything to shit… even though she wasn’t quite as alert as she could be, what with the alcohol.

They came to stairs leading down to the basement. Of course it was a dimly lit basement. Maya peered around Lyss to look down it with narrowed, slightly blurred, eyes. Maybe it was just a sex dungeon… no, she knew what those screams would sound like! It definitely wasn’t that. Why did this place even have a basement? She clenched a fist and pushed away her stupid thoughts cause they weren’t important anyway.

As Lyss began to descend the stairs so did Maya, right behind her and constantly peering around the taller girl to try and see anything that came at them.

"That's General Meifeng and one of the other agents."
Lyss

“It’s that bitch?” Maya gaped, eyes narrowing at the two agents in the distance. Her hand automatically went to her cheek where she’d been slapped and she forced back a shudder. Exactly not what she wanted to think about on a night out. Her hand moved from her cheek to tug through her hair, slight amount of pain from it bringing her back to reality. “You’re right… we should get back stage, I don’t want to deal with them.”

Maya also pulled out all the ones she’d gotten upon arriving and tossed them at the stage - best to give them all to Madison, who must need it. She stopped leaning on Lyss to head towards the backstage area… only for Quinn to start absolutely babbling and basically hug Lyss. Maya’s eyes widened - she was huggy when drunk but Quinn was a whole other level. She was definitely wasted.

"Either way, are we afraid of a buncha old ladies? They look like leather rags!"
Taylor

“Those old ladies pack a punch,” Maya muttered, shaking her head. “Don’t want to get on the wrong side of them… Also they pretty much threatened to kill us, soooo.”

She just left that statement standing in the air as she rubbed her head. She really wanted another drink cause the sight of them was a little bit sobering and she was nowhere near as drunk as Quinn, and that looked fucking fun. Dammit why did she share the shots… She’d definitely be thinking a lot less about it if she was more drunk.

Lyss’ nudge tore her out of her thoughts, and she realised she’d just been standing there scowling. She quickly changed back to a smile and followed her towards the back of the stage. It was surprisingly quiet… no one seemed to be wandering around and she was kind of disappointed in that.

“Hey Madison!” Maya followed right behind Lyss into the backstage lounge even as her eyes were very much fixed on the wall rather than the girl herself. She had no idea if Madison was still changing… and there was no way she wanted to risk that. Also it just wasn’t respectful. “You were really good out there, y’know?”

That totally didn’t sound awkward at all. She tried to not blush as she remembered just how good it had been. She was in that weird in between right now, where the alcohol had mellowed her out but she hadn’t had enough to be drunkenly confident. It made for a weird, less brash than normal Maya.

“Want to join us for drinks if you’re done working? They’re on me.”

Isla nodded at everything Zoey said cause she was right, they needed rest and there was no point in asking aimless questions. Also why hadn’t they just tried leaving? She doubted it would be that simple but hey, it was worth a try. After sleep. She watched as various people went off to take watch before pulling her beanie properly over her head and drifting off to sleep…

… Only to wake up to a loud yell what seemed like a moment later, automatically blinking and falling right on her ass on the floor next to where she slept. Disoriented she jerked her head around as she tried to figure out where she was. This wasn’t her room… fuck. Of course it wasn’t. As sleep left her brain all the events of before she slept came flooding back. And the yelling wasn’t from some drunken Scot shouting abuse at a friend outside but instead Hagan. She rubbed her head as she pushed away the confusion from her face and replaced it with a normal, lazy smile. As if she was dealing with all this just fine.

Slowly, Isla pushed herself to her feet and glanced over at the large man. Nightmare, for sure, it was written all over his face. She couldn’t easily tell the lie in him saying he was fine (as an expert liar). She walked over to the water cooler, filling up a cup of water and then went over to Hagan and Zoey. She held the cup out towards him.

“Here, drink this, you’re covered in sweat,” she said. “Gotta rehydrate or some shit. Have to say, this ain’t my normal wake up call, but when is anything normal here?”

Isla didn’t bother with any questions about if he was okay cause she knew he wouldn’t talk about it. No point pressing for something that you ain’t gonna find out about. As she waited for him to take the water she glanced back towards the door and muttered, mostly to herself, “I wonder if we can find any food here.”
