When you have to disable a new 'advanced' search to get proper search results and learn that 'advanced' means 'AI'. Let's rename it artificial superficiality, short 'AS'. Not to be confused with...

I'm slightly proud of myself having overcome my hate for indoor spiders a bit over the years. In my youth I often eliminated them, now I carry them outside in a jar. Spiders here are harmless though.

Believe me, if they could, the entirity of Southern Germany would send you all the rain they had over the last couple of days. I'm just not sure you'd actually want the widespread destruction.

Finally managed to catch the mouse. Our cat must consider me the most incompetent person of all times given how she watched instead of helping. She dragged the problem in though!

Bio

Welcome to my profile page!

Who the hell is this person behind those many miles of fiber optics and copper cable ?

  • I'm a 34 year old guy.
  • ... who's working as a software developer
  • ... and enjoys roleplaying as a casual hobby to distract himself from ongoing stress

And into which hell will I descend with you participating in one of my roleplays?

  • I'm a fantasy addict: medieval high and low!
  • I'd consider myself to be a low casual roleplayer, 3 paragraphs per post on average.
  • My schedule varies. It might happen that I won't be able to post at all for a week, but then again it might happen that I'll reach a sweet spot inside which I can go on a posting rampage. I'd say one can expect 1-2 posts a week from me, depending on the lengths involved.
  • English is not my native language, but so far I've not encountered anyone who had had trouble with me over that :)

Want to RP with me ? Shoot me a PM, but don't shoot me!

Thanks for visiting!

Harstac was surprised when the dark elf appeared behind him, but he didn't appear unfriendly. If anything, he was polite. Something definitely not to expect from the average rookie he was going to go for a meal together with. "Erm... I'll see to it that thing receives the necessary customizations then." Ryi'murss seemed rather curious about him. This triggered the idea of coming around to his place the next time he got a bit of spare time. If someone appeared to be willing to actually learn about him instead of just being afloat in a personal sea of prejudices, it was a chance not to be missed.

However he couldn't hold up the business at this moment. He packed the chainmail armor onto his shoulder and heaved himself out of the wagon, but not without winking at the dark elf and a faint smile flashing over his face. He waved at Raxxar, not sure if he'd be still able to see it. Now it was for the weapon racks. But before Harstac even got there, he noticed the misery one of his 'colleagues' had got himself into - apparently by trying out stuff he wasn't really prepared for. Whilst this mishap was nothing one could seriously accuse Hiiko for in his current situation, Harstac failed to suppress a grin as he approached the situation. "You mind if I try to help ?" Looking at the human, he noticed that he had got his share of this morning's deal as well. "Good thing I had not to run the file miles." he added.

I'm waiting for @EurmalEye to post first except you want me to do otherwise.
Harstac was standing in line with the others. Even someone completely oblivious of the interesting color around his eye and of all the other spots of interesting color that were spread all over his body could recognize that he was well beaten. The way he stood was a bit odd, but he had to transfer his weight to whatever part there was any strength left in. This morning had not exactly been a pleasure, but at least he knew that strains of this magnitude would result in his anomaly of a body to perform visible adaptations some day.

Anomaly... That word was a bit of an understatement for what he was treated like. With the soothing exception of Kale and Raxxar, most of the people around here had been presenting him with fear, disgust and general non-acceptance since the day he had arrived. If the other recruits he was standing in line with would add any exceptions to that... - he severely doubted it. The way that small girl kept a constant eye on him was just confirming this. Harstac could understand that almost everyone here must have looked intimidating to her in one way or the other, but if he had started being totally considerate of everyone's feelings, he would have had to make a run for the other end of the world. So he got moving in a very sluggish way.

He went past the racks as he inteded to do things the other way round. The quartermaster had ordered the back of the wagon to be left open, so he squeezed his wings into there as long as no one else occupied that place. With his claws scratching on the surface here and there, he inspected the armors with the look of someone uneducated. Harstac gently knocked onto some of the plates in order to guess how thick they were, but this was merely out of interest. The problem was that everything here would require modification to fit his body, but as Xan had stated this would not be a problem, he felt free to grab a piece of very thick chainmail armor that would cover his entire body. "Will this be a problem ?" he asked, pointing at what he had in mind.
I'll wait for the question about my character being settled until I post. Will make fixing things easier in case there is an issue about him.

I'm perfectly okay with the start post :) Actually I think that wrestling a half-giant as a hardly trained rookie (Harstac was a savage, I don't think one can consider this physically 'trained' in the sense of knighthood) without getting smashed to the wall in an instant is a major achievement.
So I posted the Hole In The Earth part, as ordered. I hope that I'll be on tomorrow (or your current day's evening) as I have an extended weekend.

However I'll be glad if someone who knows (*waves at the GMs*) explains to me in detail what kind of man-demon/witcher hybrid Andri is going to be transformed into and how this two-in-one is intended to work, I can't plan on information gaps.

Madawc maneuvered himself alongside Xavier, trying to keep up with his speed as good as he could and leading his spare horse on the other side. "What profession do you have ?" Madawc was really interested as Xavier seemed so young and yet so experienced and geared up. Additionally, the more he knew about him the better he'd probably be off if something went wrong. On the other hand, this would probably result in more questions coming back, but Xavier had already collected the most important bit of information by himself.
Torturing own characters or allowing them to be tortured a bit is fun. So no objections from my side :)

Backstory: Harstac is the product of a mating between a member of the 'Othaam' Lahatch colony and a girl from a remote village having 'Bell' as her surname. Unlike the way it's common, their relationship lasted for several months with them even having learned the language of each other. It would probably have lasted even longer if they had managed to keep it a secret for longer. When it emerged, his father was killed in a well prepared ambush some of the enfuriated villagers had set up. Harstac had to leave, but the colony wasn't an option. The girl continued to care about him in secrecy until he was barely grown up enough to take care of himself. This is when he became an outcast for the first time in his life until a nobleman caught him when stealing chickens from one of his farmyards. He didn't have Harstac imprisoned, but instead noticed how useful he could be and forced him to become one of his serfs. He was thirteen by then and over the course of the following years it evolved into some sort of symbiosis: The nobleman had to keep him away from his visitors and the public, but he offered him security and a bit more comfort in life in exchange for continued, very hard labor. When his health deteriorated and death had become foreseeable, the nobleman told him to leave as he wasn't sure about how his descendants would proceed with the given situation. Harstac never returned to human civilization until a recruiter saw him accidentally. Noticing that Harstac wasn't just any Lahatch but a hybrid, he pursued him carefully. Some time later, Harstac noticed him as well and they started talking. The recruiter offered him to join the Order as such an unusual being would be an interesting addition and offering membership to him would be in line with the Order's benevolent mindset.
There is a hole in the earth

Andri & Khan

The giant was left in a tiny, mental box. So small, there was no turning, no sitting up, or moving of any kind. All around there were the thumps of tiny feet skittering across from the outside.

What the... was the only thing Andri had been able to think when that hand grabbed him. That alone had been sufficient to totally scare him so that he could not even remember the words. It had been something like a rhyme of some sort...
When he attempted to move, he kept hitting walls just after the first few inches and no matter what limb or direction he chose. Now he panicked and tried it even harder, but nothing would give way. He was sweating and breathing at a rate that would quickly consume what little air was left here with him in this thing. He didn't even know what it was, the giant could just hear a myriad of things skittering on the outer side of it.

Far above, an echoing voice that was slightly muffed came cutting through. "Andri will forever be remembered as a good friend, a fearless hunter and a man of God," there was a silent pause. "Some of you may ask what lead him to this fate," another slient pause. "He died. He was burried alive. When he was found, rats had scratched out his eyes. Mice had ripped chunks from his skin. It occurred while he slowly suffocated to death,"

The calm words advancing to his ears caused cold sweat to drip from Andri's neck. "You bastard!" he shouted, not knowing if anything he said could actually be heard from outside. Being desperate, he slided to the bottom end of the box so he could start slamming it with as much momentum as he could build up in his extremely cramped position. The assassin couldn't even see what he was hitting, he just hoped that it would eventually give way.

The bottom of the coffin did give way, only to slowly start filling the box with soft, worm filled dirt. Suddenly one of the worms began to speak. "Looks like you are done for eh?" it was oddly cheerful. "That's a shame, wish we could help, but we never do nothing for free,"

A convulsive grin took over Andri's face. It wasn't directed at the worm though. It was the grin of somebody being trapped in a situation that was just too surreal to be comprehended by an ordinarily thinking mind without severe difficulties. The adrenaline rushing through his body did add to his state. He couldn't see it, but he could feel that the stuff pouring through the collapsed wall was soil. From an objective point of view, it was clear that he would die right in here in all likelihood. But being pumped up with endogenous hormones wasn't exactly what one would consider 'calm' and 'reasonable'. He snatched the handfull of dirt he believed the voice was coming from and clung round. "Okay listen you bastard! A necromancer has an interest in intact bodies, so he probably will take away your feast before you have any delight in it! What about me rampaging through your subterranean territory until this air bubble is exhausted anyway ?" Reflecting his spoken words once more caused another distorted grin to appear on the assassin's face. He was attempting to blackmail a bunch of apparently speaking worms that had entered his coffin, hoping that they would be of any assistance in disintering him while he was still alive...

"He let's us eat the flesh," said the worm almost proudly. "Doesn't need it, doesn't want it," The talking worm inched closer so that it was now whipsering in Andri's ear. "But you...you like your flesh, don't you human? And you have so much of it," There was a pauses. "I would like to eat it, but you would like to keep it. Right now, I can eat it, it is my right, but....there is something you can offer that I want. So...Human, wanna make a deal?"

Andri could feel something longish, thin and slippery approach his auditory canal. He moved his head away as far as it was possible in this coffin, but if that worm had the intent to penetrate his eardrum and enter his brain... He could feel that his body had already consumed a considerable amount of what little air was down there, so it didn't take long until he answered in a very harsh tone: "What misanthropic, cruel and abusive thing do you expect me to do ?" It had become clear that this necromancer was a goddamn sadist as well.

"Well, two things really," said the worm, crawling ever closer. "I want out, so I want in. I want to inhabit your body. I promise you, besides my commentary, you won't even notice I am there," said the worm. "And the second, since I can't control the body, you own me a favor, anything I want, no matter what is it. Fail to return the favor, and I'll eat your brain," said the worm. "Have we got a deal?"

"WHAT part of my body do you want to inhabit ? And what kind of favor do I have to expect ? Killing someone ?" To call Andri angry would have been a severe understatement. He was desperate. Desperate enough not to stop listening to this worm.

"Right here, in your head silly," said the Worm, so that the tip of his wormy head was poking just
inside the giant's ear canal. "As for the favor, will, you don't really have a choice but to accept my offer do you. I suggest you not think about the favor too hard," The worm waited a moment. "Maybe if you are nice to me I won't even make the favor that hard for you to do,"

"Just proceed you fucker! I can't stand it anymore!" He screamed, and given his lung capacity one could assume that it was loud enough. His heart probably wouldn't take such stress much longer, let alone his mind.

"I am happy you've come to see things my way," said the Worm before painfully digging its way deep into the man's ear. After the blinding pain had vanished, Andri found himself laying in a dark hallway, with Liz attacking Mat, a small girl holding her dead lookalike and Yuri trying to comfort her. "By the way, giant. My name is Khan,"

For more than half a minute, the assassin was just lying there. He... wasn't in the coffin anymore ? Oh yes, of course... the favor. He couldn't feel Khan anymore, nor could he really move. The adrenaline was draining away and now he was freezing. He rolled from his back to his stomach, pushed his upper body up with his arms and attempted to get on his feet. He couldn't. There wasn't enough strength left in his legs, but he could hear the loose grave dirt falling of his leather armor, whilst the mud, combined with the remains of some worms he had crushed when moving in the broken coffin, stained it. His face was pale as if his body had never been filled with blood and he crawled towards what he believed to be Liz, Yuri and Mat. Should he attempt to risk it having to fulfill Khan's demand or should he just ask for a quick death ? He was demonically infested! In the end, there were only two words he uttered towards them in a shakily voice: "Help me."

"So be it. I'm gonna follow you a bit. Could use a bit of a company indeed." If he was honest, he should be worried about how fast he had dropped his usual curtain of suspicion. But Xavier really didn't seem very dangerous and Madawc was sure he would be able to make his stand against the young boy if necessary. However his horse had to struggle against his weight in full armor first. One could see that it would be on the loosing side in the long term, but that's why he had stolen two. They really weren't very good. "I hope it won't mind you if my horse is overburdened." He didn't care, they were just animals and he had not been able to get hold on anything better.
