The naturegoddess watched through the illusion, uninterested. She knew all of that of course, how could she not? Instead she was looking at Desious the entire time, judging his body language and mannerisms, trying to figure out what to do next. And, more importantly, where doyouget your powers form? All of us were rendered inert, why not you? And - how can I achieve the same? And, if he is as old as you, mother and father, where has Huseror been the entire time, why is there still an Earth for me to be? He would never have another chance to undo everything that is. she mused, wondering just how much of this she should ask of the glorified spirit taxi driver and how much to keep for herself.
"Oh for Heaven's sake..." She shook her head. "You are infatuated with humans, we get it. Some of them I am keen on myself. You know what else I like? Javan tigers. Tasmanian devils. Sea minks. They're all extinct, because of them, and because I wasn't there to prevent it. So I sank a ship with hundred refugees. Out of seven billion, to save the last of a plant species they would have trampled to death. How about all of the tsunamis I settled before they reached Japan? I did not differentiate humans form other life then, and have no intention to start. And now I need to start healing this world they broke! Do you intend to stop me from doing so?" she asked, her arms falling alongside her body from where they have been folded on her chest. Hiraga did not wish to fight, but this was what she was born to do. Her purpose. It was all she had. And for that, fight she would.
Shirley
"Mmmmhm! that hit the spot!" the woman hummed, momentarily happy, although she knew that if this day was any indication, it would not last. She picked up one of the sodas and slurped loudly from it. "Bucket could have used less wings and more drumsticks though." she made the offhand note to the waitress.
Who, at this moment, was staring at her empty tray utterly and completely gob smacked. "Sweet fortune, ma'am! How did you pack it all away already?!"
"And act like it was nothing?" The cashier added, looking more pale than when Shirley ordered.
The eater gave them a sharky grin. "Well, my momma claimed to be the goddess of nature, so who knows? All I know - I am a competitive eater, but never have I been hungry as I am since yesterday. Hey, sugar, can I have a bag of cheetos with me for the road? It's a long way to where the bells ring." she said cryptically. The employees looked at the for a second, then at each other, shrugged, gave her the cheetos and wished her a safe trip.
Okay, so, god damn I killed this thread. BUT, I am back for real this time.
Any of my old players still here trying to move on with this? Or, anyone new wanting to step in is welcome.
As long as there is someone (even if just one :P) to do this with, I am in. Also, might wanna do mentions, jsut in case people unsubbed or archived this.
She smiled at the star god bitterly. "Well, they are not. I do not own the Earth, I am the Earth. I have been long before you were even wailing in our mother's arms. When you see your stars disappear, you feel robbed and angry. When a species dies out, part of me goes with it. Come judge me when you are as invested in your business as I am in mine. And humans? Why should a human deserve any more of my help than said ant? Just because most of you adore them doesn't mean I shall join you. I warded the Earth before they came to being, and will when they are gone. Now let Death speak!" Hiraga dismissed Stjerne along with his simplistic view of the matter. It was easy to judge when all you did was play with some stars and generally just observed what was going on down on the Earth.
They were then transported to where he and her son resided. She had to admit, the place was rather well built. She chose to reshape into her human form again, if only so that the premises would accommodate her. If she thought she was living in interesting times before though, it was all but confirmed when the god of anarchy actually attempted to instill order. It's not just 'what has the world come to', it appears to also be 'what happened to the sanity of my family' while our powers were gone. I suppose they still act like spoiled children, though. I should just be glad that they turned their antics on one another and not the planet.
Just when she was about to grab a bag of sunflower seeds and sit down to listen to their not-so-relative say his mind, she was distracted by a knock on the window. When she looked over, she could only describe the individual as someone with a trippy garden of color on their head. Still, being outside of the building this high up probably meant that they belonged here. Hiraga walked over and drawn a heart shape on the glass. It wasn't necessary to draw a heart, just fun. the glass seemed to liquefy under her touch, while strangely it held in place, allowing for a passage through. "And who might you be?"
A tuned up RX-7 pulled up at the lot. Shirley wanted to just drive in one go, but despite her breakfast, she was starving already - enough to eat the grass by the road if she had to. Fortunately, there was a food joint on the way. She briefly considered going to the drive-through, but her throttle foot was starting to be a bit sore, so she decided to go in and take a little break. Looking at the menu even as she approached, she pushed the door open. there was no queue, just two bikers by the corner booth, so she want straight to the cash register.
"I'll have two cheeseburgers, a taco plate, chicken bucket, a salad and two large drinks." she announced proudly, causing the cashier to look at her funny, until he was presented with a wad of cash.
"Food run for the kids ma'am?"
"Nope. I'm driving long distance and it's time for lunch." She grinned back as the cashier paled a little. Her order done, she headed for a free spot, which there were plenty, so she picked one near the door and waited impatiently for the food, her stomach an orchestra of growls.
The Guardian barely paid the venomous words of Vetra any attention. The poor girl was Goehearth's lap dog, and possibly his lap dancer, but that was all she would ever amount to. Ultimately she was of no consequence whatsoever to her, and thus her opinion had a little weight to Hiraga. Rather, she turned to Death again: "Calm. If an ant would voice it's opinion to a man, he would be no more interested than you should be in hers. As far as the location goes, do what you must, but my patience wears thin every second most of you are in my realm. I want to speak to you alone after this." she demanded.
Most of them most likely came here to get explanations. Not Hiraga. She came here to talk about how to refine what was done and maintain it. Of course, she had no intention of letting anyone else but Death know that, lest she would have a very rough fight on her hands. But she has seen what her family did to this realm, and she would give everything to rid it of them, even her own powers if the situation demanded. The humans were a problem, but for what Hiraga could see, a self regulating one. Either they would straighten out, or get themselves killed. In the end, life on Earth would be changed, but go on. After all, she did resort to extinction events before. Humans were only smart enough to create their own. As long as it only involved global warming, and not thousands of atomic bombs.
Sparing another look to Brod and their son, she wondered if Shirley was on her way. They didn't see each other in some time, and hiraga realized she might need help with her new found powers... or help Hiraga do what needed to be done.
Hiraga - Fewer questions than one would have thought
Hiraga smiled, her barky skin creaking a little like an old floor board as she did. It was refreshing to once again look at familiar faces, at least the few that she didn't mind. "Well, less than you might expect, but I suppose there is a lot you want to tell us. But seeing as Amos is not here, I do have to ask: Have the Gates been opened?"
If so, can most of you go back home and stay there? she added in thought. If only she could find a way to lock most of her bretheren in the Heavens and keep her power while she stayed here, that would solve most of her problems. She should talk to Amos about it, he would be the perfect jailer. Where is he anyway? Unfortunately most of her watchers were magical creatures, and their population was all but destroyed by the years without the source of their magic. She would need to bolster their ranks. That required souls to reincarnate though, which in turn required devoted followers. She would have to see about those afterwards - ever since they were banished, their legends have been all but forgotten as well. I think I should start at the green parties. Remove the string pullers that are twisting their ideology for their own gain, and ta-dah.
Looking over the gathering, she spared Brod and Zencrux a wave of her hand. Hopefully there would be time to talk privately later.
Shirley - Fast and Famished
What was it? The bell, the bell that none else heard? It was driving her crazy. Hell, she probably was crazy. That, or somehow what her mother told her was actually true, rather than a fantasy of a crazy woman. If that was so... oh dear. It would explain how was it that in the morning, she shoveled two pizzas, a burrito and five burgers down her throat and still felt like eating, and while all of a sudden she was turned into a gentleman magnet - already she swatted away five of them. She needed to find Hiraga, perhaps she would know what was going on. Hence why she was currently running at inhuman speeds towards the source of the ringing.
Desire - Shirley can cause a want and lust for anything and anyone she wishes. The stronger the mind the more they are able to resist, but they can often be undermined by their own wants, with Shirley only needing to strengthen them.
Hunger - Standing for the pleasures of the body, Shirley can inspire to eat, eat a lot and make you want to eat the most exquisite things, no matter the cost.
Backstory: Shirley was born not so long ago, to an already powerless Hiraga. That however didn’t stop her mother from teaching her all about her nature, back when they were still living together.
The woman never knew her father, apparently being a result of a night of boredom and desire. She blames her more lustful aspect on the conditions of her conception.
Shirley has never gotten to know her powers, well, until now. Even before then though, she has made a name in competitive eating, seemingly having a bottomless pit for a stomach.
Shirley didn’t meet any of the other gods or demigods except for her mother, whom she liked so far, they even stay in contact. What is going to happen now though is anyone’s guess.
