As the others on board began to adjust to the new surroundings, Natazume could still the feel the shock of being someplace new, vibrating throughout her body, like infectious shock waves. Not knowing where she or any of them for that matter, was rather tense. And she she didn't like to be tense, it didn't go with the flow of things. Natazume looked to a young man with short choppy hair, he seemed able to adjust, find his footing well enough. He said he was Eli but failed at really welcoming her to wherever they were. It was indeed a nagging mystery. "Haaa nice to meet ya, Eli. I am a girl who fishes but sadly I am not quite a fish." She shrugged a little, wondering what he had been dreaming of. Her own dreams had been disjointed and so far, nothing was coming to mind.
Next, a large man introduced himself as Andrik and tried to figure out the group's different origins. Natazume gave him a silent smile and looked to the others. Another man rose from the metaphorical ashes and seemed slow in coming around to reality. He called himself Gio and seemed interested in the eggs they had all encountered. "Well I think the eggs are from here..." Natazume gave a shrug, thinking her wager was a safe one. Though their components were still uncertain. It was made of wires and bright blinking lights that no one had ever seen or even dreamed of before. Natazume wasn't sure why but when she gazed into the contents of the advanced eggs, she felt a tightening in her stomach, a sense of apprehension.
Home was somewhere else, far far away.
There seemed to be another egg but so far it wasn't opening like the rest. The salmon haired woman made a mental note to see who was still stuck inside. Finally though, a girl appeared, seeming to be the final person to make up their collection of lost souls. "Hello there...I'm Natazume. That's Eli, Andrik, that egg is still unopened and that's Gio." She explained, pointing to each of the others. She reached back and nervously tugged at her long untamed ponytail, still uncertain as to where they were. Out of the corner of her eye she saw a blinking red light by a flat sheet of black glass. She wandered over and studied it. She sniffed it and nervously bit down on the inside of her mouth.
"Hmm." She ran her fingers along the smooth surface and tapped the red light and it flickered off, only to have images appear on the sheet of black glass. Natazume took a quick step back as a woman's soothing voice began to speak while images flashed up on the screen such as their ship, its facilities, the outside view from space and other informative pictures.
"Welcome to The Flock. The Flock is a large but evasive ship to help you navigate the depths of outer space. It is well equipped to ensure a comfortable and safe voyage. And you six have been selected out of millions of others to carry on the lifestyle, cultures, traditions, beliefs and other values and day-to-day activities. You have been asleep for exactly 15 years, in that span of time, we are sad to say your planet can no longer sustain life. Two years into your hibernation, a large war broke out, a war we foresaw but could not prevent. You six have been saved from that inevitable event and will now work to find a new home_
The Flock requires a crew of six: A Captain to make decisions, a Medical Officer to heal sick and wounded, a First Officer to assist the Captain and promote order and respect, a Pilot to aid in navigation and mobility, a Tactician to assess a situation and its many possible outcomes and all means of reacting to them, and a Researcher to track discoveries and take samples from planets and test them for signs of life and other traits. The technology you are surrounded by is thousands of years beyond your own so we understand there will need time to adjust to your new home_
Electronic wristbands are located under this screen which allow you to access the other parts of the ship. Simply wear it and the hatches will open up automatically. Each is different, depending on the role you wish to have aboard The Flock. They do not restrict access, however they do offer each role a personal library of information pertaining to their job which one can scan in their personal quarters' screen to learn more about their duties. This ship is programmed with a route that leads back to a larger ship, however we do encourage you six to explore and gather information about your nearby planets. This ship has saved you, it is your home now so please treat it kindly. And remember...life is not defined by your location, but by your perception."
Glancing to the other four, minus the fifth still in stasis, Natazume didn't find herself feeling quite so comforted. The woman's message was confusing. There was so much to take in. She rubbed her temples and looked to the rings on her pinky fingers. She channeled her energy and two thin streams of water came from the magical runes and twisted to form a floating orb of water. It was nice to know she could still use her power, even high up in the dark unwelcoming sky. The water quickly retreated into the rings as she bent down and saw the items that had been mentioned. "So...we get to pick what our responsibility is..." Her voice trailed off as she swallowed hard. It was dawning on her...everyone was dead. They were the only ones left?
'How is that fair...? Why us? How could they know and only save six people?' She wondered bitterly.
Sighing heavily, she glanced to Andrik. "You might be a good tactician." She considered as he had tried to find answers fairly quickly. Though Natazume wasn't sure who she should be, perhaps someone who healed others? She was already amazed by what magical things she had seen like the glass projecting images and sound, so she had to wonder what other advancements awaited each new profession. She considered a pilot but didn't think she would do well there. "I suppose we should think about what we want and where our strengths would be the most useful." Natazume shrugged. "I'm good with water, and catching and containing things." She said though she wasn't sure how useful that would be in the middle of the dark abyss. "I think our most important roles would be the Medical one, and probably the Pilot one."
