THU-MMMOK

The Desert That Feeds. The Keeper Of Gates. The Nomad Guardian. The Blight Of Earth.

Domains:Deserts and all that dwells within them, Gates, And Nomads.

Powers: He embodies the sands itself, and the emptiness of the Deserts he creates. Due to this he can travel freely throughout sands as well as manipulate them. Another effect is to create Deserts around his location, destroying stones, trees, and anything but the most durable plants and animals. to turn them into sand. Due to his affinity towards the desert, he is resistant to both hot and cold temperatures. As the protector of Nomads, he is able to cover large distances quickly, making him surprisingly swift, with stamina to boot. He is also able to enter a humanoid form, capable of easier travel, but weaker in overall power.

He also possesses the ability to bless travelers with resistance to the desert's brutal temperatures, and the ability to survive without food or water for a longer period of time. Along with the ability to bless gates with sturdiness, and durability. Another odd aspect about him, is his skill at to protect anything buried in the Desert, originally people thought of him as a desert god of death, due to his protection of tombs, but a gatekeeper god is the correct term. This makes robbing from deserts incredibly challenging, as you may face the wrath of a god for disturbing ancient treasure.

Vulnerabilites: Lush forests, beautiful springs, all things deserts do not embody. He is far weaker in these areas, due to the incredible lack of influence, He also personally dislikes them greatly. Alongside that he is weakened by large quantities of water, causing him to have great disdain towards the God of the seas.

Appearance: 

Thu-mmmok's true form is that of a being made of constantly changing white sand, however the form most often taken, is that of a large skeletal figure, made from solidifying the sands, and made to pay respects to all those who have died in his deserts, and not received a proper burial. (pictured below)

Though unlike most gods, Thu-mmmok quite enjoys taking the form of a human, originally he took the form of a battle hardened warrior, adorned with armor of sand, and a large curved sword. But eventually, Thu-mmmok decided upon the form of a smiling, short nomad, with a beard with hints of grey, dark skin, robes, alongside an orange turban, and often seen riding a camel.

Creations: 

Thu-mmmok created the sands, and the deserts, along with all creatures and plants that live in them, but here are a list of the monsters he has created.

Great Scorpions

Giant scorpions that scuttle across the desert, a terrifying collaboration Thu-mmmok and Yigzavath.  they range from the size of a man's arm, to the size of a buffalo. These Scorpions are almost always venomous. They come in several different colors, which often help discerning their attitudes, and level of danger. The green giant scorpions are very shy, and will almost never attack people, they also have no venom, but do have very tough outer shells. They are often hunted for their shells. The Scorpions with the same color as the desert itself are omnivores, and will not attack unless threatened, but they are incredibly hard to spot, and often steal food, and eat camels that belong to nearby humans, their poison is often the most feared among travelers, as it makes those stung incredibly sensitive to heat, along with making them hallucinate. The most dangerous however, are the Scorpions that are as red as flame, These scorpions are incredibly territorial, and will assault and kill anything that comes within its territory. The venom in one of these is incredibly powerful, enough that the smallest of the red scorpions can kill an elephant with a sting.

Hyaenodon

Large Hyenas that stalk the desert, they hunt for anything, and almost always do so in packs. Interestingly enough Thu-mmmok designed these creatures as sort of a clean-up crew. They are large, durable, and able to dash during a sandstorm, but their most useful feature in the eyes of their creator, Is their near immunity to diseases, allowing them to eat the dead, decaying, or otherwise inedible. These creatures are deceptively crafty, some even learned how to speak the tongue of man, in order to lead travelers to their deaths. This displeases Thu-mmmok greatly.

Djinn

Men and women made of flame instead of flesh, they take the form of a blue skinned human, with tattoos covering their torsos, they often have lower bodies made of smoke, but that is not always the case, as some Djinn walk among humans. The Djinn are incredibly intelligent, and often considered the kindest of all things dwelling within the desert, they gift knowledge to travelers, sometimes house them, and the most powerful of them may even grant a wish. They live peacefully within the deserts, with no need for food or water.

Gnoll

Ferocious humanoid creatures, warlike in nature. They come in various forms, the most common being a bidpedal, humanoid hyena. Though some only have the head of a hyena, and others are more beast-like in nature. They were created by Thu-mmmok during one of his more intense rages, jealous of his sibling's creations, that he considered far more respected than his, he decided to create a race, no, an army, that would be feared instead of honored. And so he did, he took the most ruthless predators in his endless deserts, and combined it with the bones of the humans left in the sand. The result..was monstrous. Gnolls are very tall, ranging from six feet, to seven, and can wield the weapons and armor of humans, along with executing dangerous attack patterns. Despite their primal instincts, and animalistic violence, Gnolls are very intelligent, some reports event state that men have seen Gnolls riding Great Scorpions, everyone agrees that they really hope that's not true.

Worshipers: Those who worship Thu-mmok are often Nomads, who pray to him for safe passage through his deserts, though he stays with them even after they leave, and they continue to pray even after they make it through the deserts. Due to this Thu-mmmok is accepted by nearly every traveler, and worshiped by many. He is also worshipped by all those who live in his deserts, and especially by those hiding treasures in his deserts. Finally, Gatekeepers often worship Thu-mmmok, to pray that he let them defend from those wishing to pass.

Religion and Culture: Thu-mmok's worshipers almost always leave offerings before they delve deep into the desert, to ask for protection. If the offering is accepted, it will vanish the following morning. And the men and women will rejoice. If it is not accepted, it will be consumed by a large mouth of sand, and the man or woman will surely find struggles during his or her travels. those who are buried in the desert are also buried with a gift for both Thu-mmok, to guard their tomb. and one for the god of death, to have mercy on them.

Thu-mmmok is the most respected of all the gods, but only by those who live in the desert. They consider him a kind, and just god. That will strike down the unworthy, and corrupt. And help the kind. The men and women of the desert now either despair, as they believe Thu-mmmok to have abandoned them, or have lost their faith completely. However, those who live outside the desert have a very different outlook on him, some consider him a demon god, and fear him greatly. Some consider him a very neutral deity. And some believe him to be the god of the apocalypse, and say that when the desert consumes the world, it will end. Those people changed their minds once the world basically did end. Most outside of the desert don't really care about him now, though.

Region or location: Wherever there are deserts, Thu-mmmok will be strong.

Personality: Despite the terrifying nature of the deserts, and his rather violent appearance, Thu-mmmok is actually a very mild mannered god, he doesn't tend to get involved with any wars, or anything of the sort. All he wishes is to exist in the deserts, and protect those who worship him. 

However that is not to say he is without wrath, on several occasions he has sent violent waves of sand, and sandstorm, to wipe out those who came to destroy the desert. And of course there is his violent consumption of nature, which is a rare time where Thu-mmmok shows nothing but a disturbing excitement. Thu-mmmok's wrath expands far, as those who fail to bring him proper sacrifices, or disrespect his name, are quick to be killed. Making Thu-mmmok a bit of a wild card, with great wrath and chaos, and great kindness.

He is often seen looking up at the sun in his human form, for no particular reason. That is because he quite frequently ponders what its like being mortal, and if the life of a god is truly that wonderful. However, eventually he decided to simply live as though he was mortal, throwing festivals in the middle of the desert, that travelers often stop by, to pay their respects. He also trades advice for liquor, as he has gotten quite the taste for the stuff. To put it shortly, Thu-mmmok is a kind, reserved man, who enjoys all of life's pleasures, but at the same time harbors a violent need to consume nature.

Opinions:

Thu-mmmok finds Kilgarrah arrogant, and is not quiet about his personal distaste for the god's greedy hoarding of treasure, believing the purpose of guarding wealth, is to guard it for those who cannoot guard it themselves, not about hoarding to satisfy your own greed. Despite this distaste, Thu-mmmok can find respect for his Honor and Nobility, even if it does come with an ego three sizes larger.

Thu-mmmok considers Nahargu'ul respectable, due to his calm nature, but at the same time fears the vast amount of water he controls. Thu-mmmok also finds it angering that Nahargu'ul often intentionally sends sea creatures to those under his domain, finding it similar to an adult picking on a child.

Unlike most of the gods, Thu-mmmok doesn't seem to mind Yiggzavath much at all, mostly due to the lack of things to infect in his deserts, giving the two a mutual neutrality, though because Thu-mmmok doesn't really have a lot of friends, he mistakes this intense neutrality for being, as the humans put it 'Bros'.

Thu-mmmok respects Nahash very highly, due to her gift of passion to the humans, which is part of what makes them so entertaining in Thu-mmmok's eyes, but at the same time, He also has very violent feelings towards her, primarily because of the temptation she sows, often making respectable gatekeepers turn corrupt, for which there is no greater sin, in Thu-mmmok's weird, sandy eyes at least.

Thu-mmmok doesn't have much of an opinion on Dormammus, other than the deity is responsible for knowledge, which Thu-mmmok thinks is a pretty good thing, he likes those who worship him not being dumb as bricks. Otherwise there isn't much of an opinion formed.

Thu-mmmok considers Iuppiter one of the most respectable gods, due to his kind but firm nature, which could have something to do with how Thu-mmmok himself conducts his business, or attempts to at least. Though the creation of clouds means rain, which is far from Thu-mmmok's favorite thing.

Thu-mmmok finds Ha fascinating, as he has domain over the forge, something which, without, humans would be much worse off, But at the same time, created more ways for humans to kill each other in pointless wars. Thu-mmmok often finds himself close to Ha, as one of Ha's domains are walls, something that pair well with gates.

Thu-mmmok's feelings about Ashevellen are very well known to the other gods, especially those who Thu-mmmok thinks are his friends, who are often forced to listen to long rants about how thieves are the worst kind of scum, and make a mockery of the noble profession of gatekeepers, and how he's shocked that such horrid men and women worship one of his siblings. Other than that he does not have anything personally against her, due to her not actively being a THIEF god.

Thu-mmmok has nothing but fury for Kalla, as the two's domains often battle for supremacy, as where there is a desert, plants cannot thrive, and where there is a forest, there cannot be a desert. And Thu-mmmok REALLY likes deserts. Because of this the two are well known to get into arguments constantly, usually started by Thu-mmmok, who doesn't seem to understand that maybe, just maybe. Deserts shouldn't consume the world.

Thu-mmmok dislikes Asivar, as he sees the worst of himself within him, looking at Asivar reminds Thu-mmmok of every rage, every mistake, and everything negative about him. On the other hand though, Thu-mmmok originally didn't understand the purpose of Asivar's existance, until he fell into one of his temper tantrums, and created the Gnolls. Which made Thu-mmmok understand how Asivar probably feels every day, he thinks.

Different than the opinion of many of his siblings, Thu-mmmok respects(to a degree) and understands the point of Kulorerstus, as the underworld is a necessary part of existance, what he doesn't like however, are undead soldiers crawling out of tombs he's guarding to go further whatever dark plans Kulorerstus has.

Thu-mmmok has a mixed opinion on Sombra, On one metaphorical hand made out of sand, without many of the emotions she holds domain over, humans would be an incredibly dull species. On the other metaphorical hand made out of sand, She inspires among other things Lies, and Crimes. Which, as a gatekeeper god, Thu-mmmok isn't a fan of.

Tales:

One upon a time, there were two kingdoms constantly at war, one was in a peaceful forest, and were amazing scholars, the other was in a desert, filled with proud warriors. The two kingdoms could never get along, but one day the queen of the former kingdom, decided that peace was the only way, she gathered up her most trusted knights, and rode under the banner of peace.

When she reached the kingdom in the sands, she was greeted with kindness, but weariness. She expected as much, and requested a meeting with the king. The adviser told her she would have to wait for a few minutes, as the king was praying currently. The queen accepted this, and waited for an audience.

Eventually the king arrived, and asked her what she intended to accomplish by coming here, with skepticism in his voice. The queen said that she was tired of the constant warring, and wanted a peace between the two kingdoms, she expected to be rejected without reason, but to her surprise, the king's face lit up with a grin, he agreed with her. He told her that he was tired of war, as all it brought was destruction to both sides. The queen rejoiced this peace, and decided to travel back to the kingdom, to let them know. But the king requested she stay the night, so she may feast with his royal family, as a token of friendship. The queen accepted, and was escorted to her room.

Another being heard this conversation however, the god of the desert, a being that defended the kingdom of the desert with great strength, he was moved and surprised by the kindness of this woman, and decided to go talk to her. He knocked several times on her door, and when she opened it, he introduced himself as a friend of the king, and stated he wanted to thank her for her kindness. She found herself charmed by this man, her husband had died many years ago, and this was the first time she had considered any man in a romantic way. but she quickly shook the thoughts from her head, and instead said a few kind words to the man. Before apologizing, and saying she would like to get ready for the feast. The man, of course, was gracious, and left without another word.

The feast was finally being held, and it was wonderful, many men and women dancing, several exotic foods. The queen was nervous, but intrigued by the culture here. And then, after the feast, there was a dance. The king was dancing with his wife, and the man from earlier asked the queen to dance. Despite feeling as though it was a bad idea, She accepted.

They danced and danced, all night, and finally the dancing ended, the queen hadn't felt so alive in years, a combination of the weight of war off her shoulders, and this kind stranger, all made the night seem magical. Eventually she returned to her room, and the man followed, saying that he would walk her there. The queen had no complaints with this, and instead nodding with a smile.

Back at her room, the queen took the man's hands in her own, and squeezed them, while looking at his passionately, before she felt something odd, as if there were grains in her hands, instead of the man's own- but then, she realized what was wrong, The man's hands had turned into sand. She screamed, realizing who this man was, he was Thu-mmmok, who was considered a demon god in her culture, a monster of a god that would seduce women and devour them. She ran away from him, leaving the man frowning, he had liked the woman, but he should have expected her to run away, when she realized who he was.

The next morning the queen was nowhere to be seen, her and her knights had left during the night. But no one in court was nervous, not after they saw how kind she was, surely she just had urgent business to attend to. That was what they thought, until they heard marching.

An army was approaching them, it came in the night, and they could tell from the banners it was from the kingdom they believed they had formed peace with. The king watched in horror, as he knew there was no way to defend from a sudden attack like that. However, the army and the king alike, in fact, everyone in the desert heard a scream of pure fury, of betrayal, and perhaps even, heartbroken sorrow. As a wave of sand crashed into the army, and then another, and another, the waves kept coming until the army made to retreat. The king, along with his court, all began to get on their knees and offer their thanks, after the shock went away, of course.

But the lonely god of sand, he didn't hear there thanks, he only felt a cold inside, as he knew that he could never have friends, or a love, like humans could. He would always be a god, and gods were either feared, or they were worshiped.
