I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books for 50 years. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.

I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about fifteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.

When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons (Edition 1 & 2). Later editions came out after I quit that game. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts. I love doing this form of role play, especially since I have a solid foundation on the past.

There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.

I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017. 

Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over four years ago. :(]

Almost two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

Turn 1 has begun.
I will provide additional intelligence as attained by your respective intelligence sections at Division or Brigade through Private Message. I must inform both of you, that neither side has a Line of Sight on the other. When that happens, I will check to see if either of your units has spotted the other. Some spotting chances are considered automatic (i.e.: vehicles moving in the open) while others will require dice rolls. I will use the dice rolls you have provided for me to determine the outcome of these spotting attempts. Once either side has spotted the other, your units can shoot at them. You can tell me in a PM at what range you would like to engage the enemy. Some may desire to have their units HOLD their fire as a control measure. Military units do this in real life. Once combat starts, I will take some liberty with your subordinate units, reporting their sightings and actions to higher headquarters. That information will come in the form of a Private Message (PM). I will write these reports in character. You can use them as your own if you want to include them in your own IC posts as though you and I had collaborated on the post.

NOTE: For turn 1, since neither side has seen the other yet, I will leave the option to post up to you. Please be aware that I have taken some lengths to preserve the Fog of War. Neither side knows what the other looks like yet. Once you post, you may be giving clues (intelligence) to your opponents.

05 April 1985

NATO forces have fared quite well against the East German and Czechoslovakian onslaught. But that cannot be true for every area along the 1K Zone dividing the East and West. In one region near the Fulda Gap, East German forces were successfully able to breach the NATO lines. The US 1st Battalion 33rd Armor held the line against an East German Panzer Regiment. Unfortunately, the 2nd Battalion 32nd Armor did not hold. The Soviet 91st Motorized Rifle Regiment of the Soviet 35th Motorized Rifle Division is serving as the Advanced Guard to develop this penetration.

A detachment from the 1st Battalion, 33rd Armor, supported by elements of the 1st Battalion, 48th Infantry (Mechanized) has established a Defensive position in the path of the 35th MRD’s Advance Guard element. The Battalion’s Executive Officer is in command of this detachment and preparing to meet the pride of the Soviet Army in open conflict.

0630 hours 05 April 1985

Beginning Morning Nautical Twilight started at about ten minutes after six in the morning. The temperature was a balmy 49 degrees (F) or 9 degrees (C). The high temperature for the day would reach only about 55 degrees (F) or 12 degrees (C). The wind was sharp at 8 MPH from the Northwest blowing towards the advancing soviet regiments.

A light misting rain blew in the early morning twilight. By 0630 hours, the ground was completely covered in water, but the sky was clear. As the sun came out, the skies would be filled with NATO and WARSAW Pact aircraft performing their dance of death above. Both sides taking losses.

Condensation trails (contrails) streaked across the pale blue of the morning sky with the scattered sounds of damaged aircraft impacting the terrain. An occasional parachute could be seen blooming depositing its combat-experienced pilot into either friendly or enemy hands depending on which side they happened to land.

The ground where the American and Soviet soldiers prepared to meet each other was wet and sloppy. Many of the farmer’s fields could soon be turned into a muddy quagmire if excessive numbers of vehicles were to pass through them. Most of the season’s snow had melted. Only a few small patches remained in shadowy areas.

I enjoy the hobby even though I rarely get time to participate. Currently, I try to limit my stories to one at a time. Unfortunately, I rarely find one I enjoy and others are willing to write in.
