Have you ever imagined a universe where powerful heroes stand up for the common man? Where any danger is fought off by altruistic gods among men? Of course you have. We all have. But sadly, reality is not nearly what we dream of. I ask you now, do not give up on this dream. You may not be able to live this dream outside of your home. But here, with me and my brethren, we are living this dream together. So come join us - welcome to QUIX Universe!

Welcome to Marvel and DC’s younger brother - QUIX. In this roleplay, we strive to create an original superhero universe, building the canon from the ground up. You can play your classic hero or heroine, risking their lives to protect humanity, you can play the antihero, using questionable means for the greater good, or anything inbetween.

One of the interesting aspects in this RP is that there are 3 IC-threads - each pertaining to a certain city. Your characters will roam between the cities to suit the people’s needs, although he or she probably calls one of the cities home. Because of this unusual element, we are able to handle a very large cast of characters and even still, characters will have room to make special bonds with each other. At least I hope this is the case!

Rules

    1. I, Hansa, am the almighty, but chill dictator of this RP. My word is law, but I encourage everyone to speak their mind.
    2. As any dictator, I have my goons. Here, these are the loyal, but mischievous LHG and Dan. Treat them with respect and love, and tell me if they misbehave.
    3. For a general ruleset, please see the sitewide rules of RPG.
    4. We have collectively decided that we will be using solid time in this RP. This means that your character can at any one time only be in a single thread.
    5. A member may not post in the IC-thread without having their character accepted.
    6. As common courtesy dictates, try your best to post in turns. If two-three characters are interacting closely, ex. in dialogue, i urge you to collaborate in posts. Suited mediums for this are Google Docs, Etherpad or Titanpad. Make sure to clarify what members have contributed to the post.
    7. This is the main OOC and Character Directory. Each of the three IC-threads will have OOC-threads where members in an ongoing arc in that city can discuss internally. This Main Hub will not have IC-activity until further notice.
    8. Keep IC-posts in a literary 3rd-person. No breaking the 4th wall, no mention of cinematography, no controlling other characters. Trust me, I’ve seen a lot of weird stuff.

Character sheet

Alias: (Your superhero name, ex. Baboonman or Ultragirl)
Real name: (Hero’s birthname. A human might be named John, an alien from a far-away galaxy might be named Blehgg-Rizz 04)
Age: (The number of years that has passed since birth)
Gender: (Male or female. If you want something in between, confer with me)

Appearance: (Write a paragraph here regardless if you have a picture or not. Oil paintings are encouraged)

Personality: (What kind of person is this? How does he/she feel about being a hero?)

Short Biography: (Put a paragraph-long origin story here. If it was for Spiderman, it would explain how Peter Parker was a student bitten by a mutated spider, gaining several enhancements from it, and how he decided to become a hero when his uncle was murdered. Not how his complicated romance with Mary Jane strengthened his conviction)

Powers, Skills & Equipment: (Write down everything that makes your hero able to do what they do)

Weakness: (Achilles had his heel, Superman has his kryptonite. What weakness does this hero have?)

Full Biography: (Put this in a hider. Go wild, write a novel. I'll be taking 40% of the revenue.)

Fun facts: (What would a curious person like to know about your character? Does he like spaghetti? What are his thoughts on the current economical state of China? Favorite color?)
Last but not least, questions.
Being a superhero-rp, there is always the question of limitations. Has the GM(s) given this some thought?
I'm not thinking so much about power levels, but more on origins. In some worlds things like magic can clash with the setting, of perhaps aliens shouldn't exist. Perhaps the eternal war between heaven and hell is a bit too much of a side note... Just throwing the thought out there.

So far, I have openly told people that I will be very non-restrictive with heroes. One of the things I absolutely love about the big hero universes is the clash between characters with different origins. Where else can you witness an alliance between Superman, a solar-powered alien, and Wonderwoman, a heroine from Greek mythology, and Batman, a super-intelligent, human detective? Therefore, I will pretty much allow anything asd long as some thought is put into the character.

Yeah, I can be the third GM. I was thinking of asking, but wanted to wait.

I would be very happy to have you as a fellow GM.

Interested is there room?

Yes, there is room. Almost indefinite room, in fact :D
@LHG100Yeah, that fits. I mean, he could easily roam between cities, but he should definitely be from New Skywell originally.

I'm gonna work on the threads this evening and tomorrow, but there are some things that need to be settled. Firstly, we need our 3rd GM. This won't be a huge task, you basically just need to keep an eye on one of the threads to make sure things go smoothly. The thread I'm GMing will be the main hub, with the main OOC etc. So most of the work is on me :P
Secondly, when we have the 3rd GM, we will have to discuss how much I design in your cities, and how much you're doing yourselves.

But yeah, the OOC will definitely be up soon everyone!
@GentlemanRogue Yeah, the locations won't be placed anywhere in the real world. If it pleases the masses, we could say they are three neighboring cities in the US. I personally don't care.

As for the themes of the cities - I've thought of that!

* * *

Grimmarch - The City of Secrets
The oldest of the three cities, Grimmarch is full of glimpses of the past. Parts of the city are full of preserved gothic architecture, others more modern. The city is quite normal during the day, but comes to life during the night. Full of a bustling nightlife, colorful lights coat the dark, gothic stone. Of course, along with the nightlife comes loads of criminal activity, including drug cartels, violent gangs and the occasional supernatural evildoer.

Claychester - The Great Crossroads
The largest of the three cities, Claychester is varied, but down to earth. The city started out as a place of fishing and clay gathering, soon growing to be a metropolis of trade and travel. Today, Claychester is an international center for trade and business, and surrounded by factories and large industries in the periphery.

New Skywell - The Stargazing City
The youngest of the three cities, New Skywell is the pioneer of technological advancement. Originally inhabiting Skywell, the old research district of Grimmarch, the scientific orginizations eventually moved to a more open space for collaboration. The result is New Skywell, the Stargazing City, with indoor agriculture and agriculture, renewable energy and modern skyscrapers. The city is more expensive than the other two, but for good reason - New Skywell is the closest we have come to an utopian society on Earth.

What do you guys think? Are these cities good?
Yeah, I did it myself. 10 minutes in Illustrator if you know what you're doing ;)

I'll sleep on the three cities until tomorrow morning, and post some solid suggestions here. As always, I would love some constructive discussion around them!
I've been wanting to call our roleplay something similar to "Marvel" or "DC comics". Like a franchise of sorts. I came up with QUIX Universe, derived from Don Quixote - the greatest hero ever. What do you guys think? Also, logo:

Secondly, will there be any like threadwide events planned? As in events that will bring all the heroes together? Also would characters be able to travel between threads?

YES

It's very important that everyone understands this. The threads are akin to geographical locations (cities, in fact), and so naturally your hero will be able to travel between them. And yes, there will be events that are thread-wide and even multi-thread. Say, if there was an (spoilers ahead) apocalyptic zombie-baboon invasion.
@Gnome Johnson The whole point is for arcs to take place simultaneously. With timestamps I feel like that can get confusing. A story in thread 1 can continue in thread 2 and so on. The point of liquid time is to go beyond logic in order to fit more roleplaying into one play. If you want character growth, I think liquid time might be a bad decision, honestly.

@Dirty Dan This was my idea originally. Now that we're getting a lot of interest, it also seems viable.

At this time I am honeslty thinking that "solid time" is our best bet. We are becoming quite the large cast, which is perfect for this kind of RP. 13 characters, each in 3 seperate threads, might get confusing. I will gladly discuss this decision in the Titanpad
