@vancexentan Oh I meant to mention something a good while back when elemental weapons and such were brought up. There may not be incendiary rounds or anything, but EMP rounds are mentioned a few times.

Ian Laudat

Pilot's Lounge

@vancexentan

Ian entered the pilot's lounge. The poster he had read mentioned that a guy named Bill Atlas was the one he needed to talk to. Truth be told, he hadn't had the best of times trying to find a team, and this one seemed fairly desperate. The other team leaders were apparently quite aware of his weary nature and saw him as a potential liability, which was fair. He certainly didn't fault them for it, but that didn't keep him from asking.

After a brief survey of the room, Ian yawned loudly and approached the one that fit the description that he was given by one of the other students. He wasn't completely familiar with the Atlas name, but it probably wouldn't matter. It seemed Celestial Star was in need of members, and assuming the need was great enough, they would probably even look past Ian's near narcoleptic habits. Ian could only assume that the person sitting by Bill was another member.

"Err..Hi, I'm Ian Laudat. From what I understand you guys are looking for more members for your team? You wouldn't happen to have a sharpshooter already would you?" He asked, trying to make the best first impression possible.
@vancexentan Working on my first post right now.
Eh, most of the people that would know Ian by name would probably just associate him with being passed out in the classroom.
So as far as characters knowing eachother beforehand, anyone interested?
Name:

Ian Laudat

Nicknames: He's been called lazyass more than a few times. Otherwise folks just call him Ian.
Team Position: Sniper
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Year at Ace Academy: 2
Appearance:

-
Personality:

To call Ian lazy would be an insult to lazy people everywhere. Despite sleeping pretty constantly, he seems to always be tired. He's pretty friendly, even if someone were to wake him up he'd put on a smile and at least make an attempt at staying conscious...perhaps not very successfully. Despite his demeanor, he is no idiot. He has often angered teachers and students alike by being able to answer their questions immediately after waking.

Even with his apparent intelligence, he still falls behind when it comes to homework and other projects if he doesn't have someone to make him work on it. Tests and classwork though, those are child's play.

Biography:

Ian was born in the state of Tennessee in the US. Despite this, his southern accent is pretty negligible. Because his family was far from poor, he was never left wanting. His father did contract work for various Weapons companies. While it was mostly minor software work, it still pulled in quite a bit of money.

Ian was always mocked by others for having no motivation. Being held back one year of Middle school due to a teacher grading students on their attentiveness, though he didn't seem to mind much. Being a year older than others in his grade would have normally led to at least some teasing, but many students seemed to have some kind of innate fear of him. Rumors spread that he was always so tired because he was doing terrible things at night. This of course wasn't true, but kids have a way with imaginations. It wasn't until early High school that people started warming up to him, some of them asking for help on assignments when they could keep him awake.

As he grew older he grew interested in GEARs and even managed to convince his parents to buy him one to work with. It was a less expensive mech, but it was far from cheaply built. Ian finally finding something to put his limited energy into convinced his father to call in a few favors to get a hold of an experimental weapon. The weapon in question was a rail-powered rifle that Ian had seen in one of his father's files. It had already entered the testing phase, and within a few years would probably hit the market.

On a whim, his moderately wealthy parents sent him to Japan in an attempt to force him to move past his laziness. Being in such an unfamiliar environment would probably shock him into at least putting in some genuine effort. Despite their plan, he never shook off his lethargic nature, but he did manage to get into a good school. Him making it into Ace Academy at all was nothing short of a surprise, let alone him becoming a pilot. While he was pretty abysmal at close quarters combat, he excelled at ranged combat due to his patient and calm demeanor.

His parents were so enthusiastic about his admittance that they sent the GEAR that he had customized over the past few years. It was one of the few things he seemed to actively care about back in the states. Upon its arrival he performed the usual checks on the weapons and such. Of course once that was done he had to find a team. It would be good to use it for something other than a test run. The only team that really caught his eye however, was Celestial Star.

Combat Section (if applicable strengths, and weaknesses should even out remember personality traits aren't necessarily hindrances in combat.):
Strengths:

Ian has excellent aim, and given his patience has proven to excel when it comes to long range engagements. So long as his allies can keep the opponents away from him he can usually pick them off. His thrusters also allow him to quickly get out of most enemies's range.

His GEAR has been modified for specialized long range combat. Due to these modifications it is almost unparalleled in most long range confrontations.

While conscious, his battlefield awareness is fairly impressive. He can usually keep his team well informed of what's going on while he keeps an eye on things from a distance.

Weaknesses:

Of course that specialization also comes at a hefty cost. Enemies that manage to close the distance or corner the Gunslinger can generally depower it with little to no effort.

Short range combat is a pretty glaring weakness for Ian, so much so that he forfeited his close quarters weapons for better mobility.

Given his armor's poor quality, once his shields are down it takes little to no time to depower.

While he can usually keep himself awake in a battle, if he thinks his team has things under control it isn't unheard of for him to fall asleep. He keeps an alarm in his GEAR for such a purpose, but the time it takes to rouse himself fully could be the difference between victory and defeat.

Neutral Values: Medium range combat. Coordinated assaults. Drawn out firefights.

Other: (For anything I may have missed.)

Gear Section:

Gear Designation: Boeing IR34-Slingshot

Despite Ian's Slingshot's current use, the name was actually more of a reference to the GEAR's booster system than anything else. The thrusters operate on a heavier boost instead of a controlled one. This allows the GEAR to disengage quickly and outpace all but the swiftest of GEARs. Despite the advanced thrusters and light frame the Slingshot isn't in very high demand. The low demand for the GEAR made the price quite reasonable as it isn't meant for direct combat.

Nicknames: Gunslinger

The nickname came after a few modifications...like weapons systems. The original model seemed to be more of an unarmed scout than a combat GEAR. In wargames it would likely be used to keep an eye on the enemy or provide swift distractions, but Ian had it refitted for combat, at the expense of his parents. The experimental rifle it was outfitted with seems pretty normal aside from its triple charge system. Most rail-powered weapons require a few moments' charge for each shot fired, but this one is able to hold three charges before requiring another charge. This ups his damage output quite a bit, usually allowing Ian to engage most rail rifle users with relative ease. It draws a fair bit of power, but thankfully most fights don't push it too far.

Weapon(s): Tri-charge Rail rifle.

Base Parameters:

Strength: C
Endurance: B
*Armor Quality:D
*Shield Quality: B
Agility: A
Energy Level: B
Long Range Quality: A
Short Range Quality: F
Appearance:

@vancexentan Alright, I think it's finished.
@vancexentan Is there anything else I need to change/add?
