Felix Dromas
The ground shook as the Alcatraz officially made contact with the ground, the massive ship dug a several mile wide trench through the planet's surface. The vessel, at least from where Felix could see, appeared almost completely undamaged. Of course he couldn't see much of it, the titanic ship was so far...at least a few days worth on foot, probably longer taking the terrain into account.
A terrible scream rang out nearby, not like those that had been heard since the crash. This one was much worse than one that a gunshot or stabbing could cause. Perhaps worse than even a life wielder could inflict. Felix's attention snapped to the treeline where a human stumbled out still screaming in horror and pain. From the man's shoulder, blood seemed to flow like a spout...
except, it couldn't be blood. Felix thought. It was true, the sickly color that spread from the wound was quickly turning black as the liquid gushed. It was as though the man was rotting before his eyes. The man collapsed, the smell of rotten flesh permeated the air. The stench confirmed Felix's suspicions, the man was putrefying alive.
Once the screaming stopped, a strange spiked humanoid creature exited the brush and approached the corpse. Felix took cover. if this thing did this, he certainly wasn't keen on engaging it. A slurping sound came from the direction of the corpse and strange monster. Felix could only assume this was how it consumed its prey, rotting it from the inside out and drinking the results. He repressed the urge to vomit at the thought.
"Well, if it isn't one of our poor watchers hiding from ol' Tim!" An obnoxious voice called out from where the cell block had originally crashed. If it hadn't been for the sight moments ago, Felix may have noticed the end of the carnage in that direction. Clearly someone had won, and this guy was probably with them.
"You caught me, I'm assuming you're this 'Tim' I'm hiding from?" Felix said mustering a smile at his 'captor.' He'd rather not stir up too much sound. That
thing was still nearby, and Felix didn't plan on becoming seconds.
"Yep, and it's a shame too. I hoped you'd have been a bit more feisty, but you seem willing to roll over and get caught." Tim said, feigning disappointment.
"Well, you guys are the well armed majority now. I don't have a lot of choice." Felix shrugged.
"So, what were you in for?" "Hah, I'm surprised you didn't figure it out when you heard the name. I'm the captain of the Fenrir, my crew and I have been causing havoc all over colonized space for nearly a decade!" Tim claimed proudly, apparently not quite bright enough to recognize stall tactics.
"Oh, wow. A celebrity, I'm honored really." Felix said. The sound of the slurping stopped...it sounded like that monster retreated back into the jungle. Felix was done stalling, finally.
"You said your ship was the Fenrir, right?""Yeah, best vessel in the Milky Way. My people though, I may have to kill them all when I get back. They swore they'd get me off that junkheap ages ago." Tim said angrily.
"Fenrir, Fenrir...I think I've seen that ship somewhere. Oh, right. The second week after we left Earth a ship by that name engaged the Alcatraz. I think the point defenses ripped it to shreds before it even managed to bring its weapons to bare." Felix said pretending to be think back on the situation.
"Then again, that doesn't sound like the best vessel in the Milky Way...Hmmm, maybe it was a different Fenrir?""Wh-What!?" Tim shouted in surprise and anger. "I refuse to believe it. I'll kill you for even pretending that a prison ship sank my vessel!"
"Oh, that may be an issue. I'd rather not die at the hands of a shipless captain." Felix mused. Tim laughed and grabbed Felix's arm and glowed with what was clearly mana.
"I'm going to make sure you scream, I want the whole planet to hear it." Tim said pouring his magic into Felix's arm to-well, no effect. He let go after a moment, clearly drained.
"For a second I thought you might have a mana-type that could do some real damage. Really though, life? It's a prosthetic you stupid jackass." Felix said as he took his arm out of the weakened pirate's grip, using his other hand to grasp and crush the man's wrist.
"For all the tricks you Attuned use, you're still human."Tim struggled to heal his broken wrist and slumped over, clearly exhausted.
"Wow, you can barely even heal yourself...tsk tsk." Felix said as he took hold of Tim's head and forced him to look up.
"Well, I guess that still means I can't just paralyze you and leave it to the fauna to finish the job." With a swift motion, Tim's skull was crushed in.
It seemed Cellblock Ten had crashed into the mountain Nine had barely missed. In fact, it was directly in Felix's path. With any luck, he'd be able to find a few other guards. While Felix never really liked his co-workers, he didn't want to deal with one of those spike faced creatures alone. This whole situation was probably a feast for them, a bunch of invasive species with no natural defense to their poison, venom, or whatever that thing had used to melt that guy.
Stumbling through the jungle, he spotted a guard...A female guard that he hadn't seen before. It wasn't exactly impossible, the Alcatraz was a massive ship. There were only a few that had any excuse to know everybody, and they weren't here.
"Hey, you!" Felix said, just under a shout. He needed to get this woman's attention without attracting any predators or prisoners.
