Hot dogs are already cooked. Might as well just sear them to add flavor.

If you take college seriously, it opens doors. Harvard and Hopkins makes it easier, but you can do well anywhere.

Prefer to brainstorm on Discord for that reason.

Read it.

I'm down for this idea. If you've read it already, however, it might help to provide guidance to the discussion.
I feel like books are our brain fuel, and sometimes it's fun to read good, provocative books. I know that's a subjective sort of yardstick to use, since tastes and outlooks on the merits of a book vary, but I was still thinking of forming a discussion group on a monthly basis to discuss, yeah, books. One book a month.

Usually, book clubs involve meetings and discussions in person, but I don't see why we can't do such a thing here. I'm curious to know if there is interest and...well, volatile stuff, but what sort of book should we start with? I feel like it's important to pick something influential in its genre, but we shouldn't feel automatically bound to just go for something in Fantasy or Sci-fi simply because it's in the comfort zone.

What are the thoughts? If any? (I mean, I might just be pissing in the wind here.)

TL;DR Summary

  • Star Wars Universe
  • Right before the destruction of the First Death Star, after the battle of Scarif.
  • I am trying to set a very broad scene and then let the partner help come up with more specifics on the plot.
  • Looking for a partner in crime bringing their ideas and knowledge to the table. We should both be coming up with NPC's here.
  • We can play multiple characters.
  • Partner preferably has played KOTOR or is otherwise a Star Wars fan.
  • Advanced standards. A couple paragraphs minimum.
  • RP on a thread here.
  • May the 4th be with you.
  • Questions? Answers? Ideas? HeySeuss#6650 is my Discord, post here or PM. It's all good.

In Character Info

The mission starts out simply enough; Mon Mothma sends a diplomatic team, headed by the former Senator Mors Felthinnis to Mirial to make contact with the local resistance to convince them to join the Rebellion. Senator Felthinnis and a team of security people and diplomats are ambushed by Imperial commandos in the home of Mardu Visz; a lone survivor makes it to the ship, the Nebula Dancer, and gasps, "Get out of here!" (before dying? Up to you.)

He signed up with the Rebellion to fly starfighters, something he has a gift for, but is seconded to the diplomatic mission to fly their starship; now he's the last survivor of the mission and everyone's hunting him.

Including an Inquisitor.

Out of Character Info

I pretty much just figured to have a real adventure-heavy, fast-paced sort of Star Wars. I have a few ideas in my head, mostly revolving around a Jedi artifact that the Empire wants badly and is willing to send heavy hitters to get. I also figure the ship will have an on-board AI. The characters may have droid or animal companions...that part we can figure out as we go along. I know the interest check is a little skimpy, but I sort of want input from a partner before I put anything down hard and fast regarding the plot. My character is fleshed, but the role of your character? That's for you to write.

I kept it bare bones because I wanted to get this rolling and to give a potential plot partner a -lot- of plot to work with. Bounty hunter trying to get Kerrick (my character)? Sure. Another Rebel survivor on the mission? Sure. Local contact from Mirial? Sure. Have your own ideas? Sure. Got a twist? Sure.
@Vietmyke Howabout an Albatross loaded for SEAD duty?
Also, this whole thing will probably start in Texas, on the way to Louisiana from California. I'm thinking the club came to be in La Mesa, CA (San Diego County) where there was a post-WWII boom that tended to fuel the rise of these biker clubs. It's close to some Marine and Navy bases. Since our backstory involves the Alpha finding out who he is in Vietnam and starting his pack there, it definitely has some bearing on some character backstories, but it's mostly driven by picking a good location.

Edit: Due to the change in the location, we also changed this from an Air Cav backstory in Vietnam to a Marine one. Minimal changes, but it makes more sense since we set their home in San Diego county, which would explain lots of Marines returning from Vietnam joining the club.

Further Edit: Inkarnate and I were talking and I realized that the 'bite' needs explaining. Odds are, the Alpha bites whomever the club thinks has the right stuff to join and seems like they really want to join. Then they dump them off in a dangerous situation and see if they survive on their own. A dump off in the desert, maybe leaving them stranded to deal with a rival gang or some other supernatural threat makes sense. Feel free to be creative. However they survive, wits or grit, they are deemed worthy.

If they survive the situation they are put into and a couple weeks after, the Club hunts them down. By this time, odds are, they're on the run, but hey, wolfpack. Hunters. Once they're caught, they're inducted.

Odds are, the places that you'd meet the club are at concerts (lots of those), parties (again, lots in California 1969), selling them drugs, buying drugs from them, or if you are in any way involved in the buying, selling, painting or repair of motorbikes.
We've been discussing a lot of this in Discord, but reach out if you need something. I am particularly interested in Alpha characters, since the Alpha is one of the lynchpins of the RP.
Also, put up a sheet for Streak, who likes to ride nude in front of church groups.

I highly recommend we get characters up fast. We don't need to go into backstory detail, and not all characters need to have served in Vietnam. The Alpha was born a werewolf, but I think everyone else ought to have been bitten and brought in recently, new to being a werewolf. Even the Alpha doesn't know a whole lot about Alpha'ing, because his family's masters didn't exactly want the werewolves to know how the mechanics of being an Alpha work (for obvious reasons.) Odds are, werewolf lore is not easy to come by because werewolves have been kept in the dark for a long time. Rediscovering identity is tough.

I also think that the Wild Hunt should be on its way to Mardi Gras in New Orleans where it intends to do lots of drugs.
