Monster Name: Alcaeus Other Names: The Hundred-Handed One, He of Myriad Arms, Titan-Slayer, 'Al' Monster type: Hekatonkheire Appearance: Alcaeus is very underwhelming at first glance. He looks to be an average guy of above average height, around 6'2". He is decently muscled, distinguishable as a man that has seen physical labour before, perhaps in the form of farmwork. His skin is tanned a smooth bronze and is riddled in scars, pock marks, scratches and burns. His face is of fairly average attractiveness, with an aquiline nose and thin lips, his eyes are heavily-lidded and usually half closed, barely showing their hazel colouration flecked with touches of gold. He wears common clothing. His hair is black and cut to be ear length. When transformed, his skin pulls tighter and reveals the musculature and bones hidden beneath. It takes on a distinctly metallic sheen, becoming more like actual bronze. His eyes sink into his head and become black, skeletal pits. He grows taller as well, up to 10' tall. Personality: Laid-back, Well-mannered, Tired, Easily amused, Witty and Kind. Bio: Al has been around for a very, very long time. Centuries would be a fair ballpark to guess within. He was merely a child when the Titans fell, his father being involved in their downfall. Soon after the fall of the Titans, Al was trained to defend himself and survive before being sent from his father's side to live among the humans, in order to learn more of the world. He was raised to live the life of a commoner, set to work in the fields with a family he knew not to be his. Regardless, he toiled in the fields and with the livestock. With the strength of his father, and arms enough to spare, he found the work to be more fun than troublesome. For centuries, farm life is all he knew. He had his offer of chances into a higher life. Circus Strongman, Freakshow, Star Athlete, Wrestling Career. He even gave the wrestling career a try, but found it wasn't to his liking. Al has lived through more events than he cares to mention, some fantastic, some tragic, and has even had a hand in a small few. Mostly all he wants is to run his farm and sell his produce, living in peace and living close to Mother Gaia. But now he's been invited to this shindig, and frankly he's reluctant to attend. He hopes his farm will be okay. Can't refuse hospitality though. Other: Immensely physically strong.
Writing up a character now.
The banter between the two Helios agents reached Vivian's ears from a nearby drone as it ceased its firing protocol and left the still-twitching body of a soldier to bleed out. She watched from her hiding place, steeped in shadow, as the soldier reached out for her. He reached for help, but he would find none with her. What could she do except what she was doing? Her luminous, pale blue eyes stared out from the gloom, filled with tears and an expression of pain as she watched the life fade from him. She saw the man, Tyler, clutch the child and chastise his compatriot for the violence that had ensued, and saw the Shadow, 57. She heard his reply and was struck sick to her stomach. 'Surrender', 'unintentional casualties', 'negotiate'. All words that came in too little and too late. Who was there left to negotiate with that was above the rank and file when they were all dead and slaughtered, like animals. As far as she knew, she was the only remaining, living member of some sort of rank, being in a sort of position of influence in the medical wing. Her hands shook, clutching the handgun ever tighter. She wanted to bad to confront them. She burned to act. But to do so would be suicide. She only need to get to the exit and get the hell out of here, maybe hole up in an abandoned building and lay low for a while, maybe contact some fringe forces of the resistance in the mean time. Survival was all that mattered to her at that moment. She moved with a fluidity and grace she didn't know she was capable of as she vaulted her cover and rounded a corner, away from the Helios operatives to circle around and reach an exit as quick as possible. Her spot of inky blackness followed her as she absorbed the ambient photons as she moved, filling her reserves to levels she wasn't even used to. Her veins burned with all this energy, and she felt as if at any moment she could just explode into light and heat, but she forged on, in her little spot of shade. The exit was close, and she would be free and safe if it weren't for one problem. A whole retinue of drones guarded the exit.
"I want me a greasy as hell burg. Burger. That is all I need right about now. Just that. What about y'all?" She rubbed at her forehead with a grimace as she looked at them both, the edges of a headache creeping up on her slowly. Her hammer hummed at her back, slowly moving with her and ready to fly into her hand at a moment's notice. She shook her head and squinted at them, asking with in a grumbling voice, "What were you guys thinking of getting?" Her stomach rumbled.
"You heard her, up and at 'em good to walk?"
Molly nodded slow, no longer looking pained or dizzy. She simply nodded dimly as if she were tired. She swung her legs from the bed and wobbled to her feet like a newborn faun, reaching out for the ground before emitting a weak propulsion field to keep herself upright and right up, a few centimetres from actually touching the ground. She gave a curt nod to the nurse, attempting to mumble out a thank you before hovering toward the exit. Her hammer, Vulcanus, followed in short order, floating along as if it were a loyal dog at her heel as it hummed low and menacingly.
"Martyr!" He would call as he bounded to her side and slid into the cover she had hidden behind. "I'm getting you out of here, verndarengill minn." He would say quietly, calling her by his name for her, his guardian angel.
Vivian turned to him as he called, the look of panic and distress in her eyes as she raised her handgun and aimed it out of nervous reflex. The shadow she had plunged herself into hid the gleam somewhat, but it was plain to see that both the safety of the handgun was on and one could assume that there was no bullet in the chamber, given her apparent experience with firearms. She has no prior experience with firearms. As Wolf slipped into the cover of the overturned bed she was lurking behind, she lowered the gun and breathed out slowly. Her expression was incredulous, afraid and overly severe as she hissed quietly, "What the hell do you think I'm tryin' to do, buddy? Bake a goddamn cake?" She took a sharp breath in as the large, imposing man passed by. Was he covered in blood? She could feel her heart racing faster with every moment, grip tightening on the handgun as she began to shake with equal parts rage and fear. She then watched as he tore apart a droid and picked up a young girl that she herself treated not two days ago. She could still feel the dull throb that she felt when she transferred her broken ribcage and the burns she incurred from being near the mine exploding. Whatever he was doing, be it lamenting or... whatever, it make her sick to her stomach that they could just waltz in, slaughter with impunity and have the gall to feel remorse when they discovered that these were real people they were slaying. She felt bile at the back of her throat and growled to hold it back, the acrid smell of stomach acid filling her nostrils as she fought the sickness back down. She took a deep breath, and drew in more ambient light to fuel herself before pointing out the front door to Wolf, all the way behind the obscured, explosive conflict between 57 and Magi, and the bloodied man on the floor holding the child. "Front door is that way. I'm making a break for it. Stay or come along, do whatever. I just need to get the heck out of here." Her pale blue eyes stared daggers at the hallway to the exit and then back at Wolf before beginning to move once more. Slowly inching her way around the complex and towards the front door.
Vivian watched the two clash for a moment before snapping back to her senses. Still holding the handgun, she holstered it quickly before latching onto the gurney with deathly seriousness. She pushed as if she were being chased, which for all she knew, she was. She didn't look back to confirm it, she didn't have time to look with all the weaving and strafing she was doing with the gurney in front of her. She stepped side to side and moved the gurney accordingly with a sort of clumsy grace, partly to manoeuvre the bed to fit through the various obstacles of the medbay and equally to minimise any chance of being hit by a projectile. She felt her skin burning as she moved, and barely even noticed that her body was becoming absolutely luminous in reaction to all the panic and terror running through her system. Her skin was the harsh golden of unfiltered sunlight as she exuded light like a burning spotlight. It helped somewhat when it came to finding her way around, but it only helped to accelerate her fears by making her stand out and making her a target. 'This is going to be the end of me unless I can smack this dude into the evacuation area and get gone quickly.' There was only a few stragglers left around the evacuation area, on the other side of the complex, staff ready to take the gurney and whisk it away to who knows where. She took deep breaths as she approached to calm herself and dim her light. She handed over the gurney in short order, the staff taking it and beginning to shuffle it away into an emergency exit tunnel of some sort, she was not familiar with it as she had not been deemed high enough on the chain of command to be told. The next words from the worker's mouths made her heart sink into her knees. "Sorry Viv, but we're all full! Y'gotta see if you can slip out the front door or somethin' because this way is just gonna leave you stranded when we get to the transports!" She bit her lip until it was close to bleeding, but nodded in the affirmative to show she understood. Though they weren't moving Wolf's bed just yet, she left them to their work, sure that they would have him away in due time. With panicked breaths and illuminated steps, she wandered back into the base slowly. She swivelled and peeked around every corner and over every overturned bed that she came upon. She had to be smart about this, remain calm so she didn't light up the place. With a deep breath, she swept her hand over a nearby fallen light fixture and seemed to siphon the very light that is was emitting. She felt her body warming up and her energy to move rising as she ambient light faded, plunging her into an area of slightly darker shadow that followed her as she moved from hiding place to hiding place, making her harder to spot with the naked eye. She pulled the handgun from her belt once more, feeling the weight and coolness of the metal within her slender, smooth fingers. Just holding it felt dirty, but she held it all the same. 'Better to have it and not want it, and all.' She grimaced as she pushed herself up to move again, hiding beneath a desk as a group of rebels opened fire upon a pair of drones nearby. She could only watch on and move slowly past, dim shadow following her and making her harder to spot. She had to get back to the front of the base, which meant going back through the medbay. Back through the action and violence.
One of the clerical staff came by just as Vivian shuffle the gleaming silver handgun into the back of her belt, he shot her a queer look before telling her with great urgency that it was her turn to move her patient. "Y'gotta be quick and y'gotta be calm, they are gettin' closer to the medbay and I think they are winnin'. Just get this fucker out, and then you can get to safety." She nodded, unable to form words because of the intense fear that she felt within her, tearing at her mind as she wracked her brain at all the possible scenarios that could pop up from her leaving this little area. She could be gunned down, she could be stabbed, burned, brained, poisoned, taken prisoner, executed -- there were just so many things that could go wrong, it was beginning to make her tear up. But she wiped away her eyes and nodded as the worker left to attend to other patients, she had to put on a strong face and help these people. It was her duty. If she were to leave him here, if she were to abandon Wolf, she might as well just sneak out and become a vagabond. She straightened her sweater and took a deep breath before securing Wolf to his gurney and pushing aside the curtain cordoning off his sleeping area. It was now or never, and she was the last one assigned to take the alternate evacuation route. It looked like she was the only one, apparently this route went right through the conflict, and everyone else was crowding the main route. It didn't matter, she would use the route she was assigned and she would just have to be uninterrupted in using it. The less traffic there was meant the less chance of getting held up and getting shot. With a breath and a moment of hesitation, she pushed open the door to the alternate evacuation route. Her breath caught in her throat. With the gurney to her side, she stood in the doorway. Face to face with a Helios operative. What looked to be a specialised Helios operative. He recognised him vaguely. The Shadow of the Demon. Something akin to the Bogeyman, as far as she was concerned. She took a step back and drew her hand back to retrieve the pistol at her belt. Its silver gleaming surface reflected the sickly green lights of the medbay into her eyes as she held it close to her chest. She could only stutter as she spoke. "St-ss-ssstay back! I-I'm warning you!"
Priscilla dove to a solid patch of soil to avoid a solid slam of one of the ent's burning limbs. It was mad, enraged and panicked by the flames, but it was also very slow and still made of wood. She rose quickly, placing her shield upon the solid ground to take to her bastard sword, Verschlinger, with two hands. The hilt was tattered and rough, just how she liked it. She watched the flames dance for a moment, seeing their rich orange colour and feeling the energies within them as her face felt the flush of heat rushing from them. The ent was in place, but only for a moment. With a great inhale, some of the flames from its arm seemed to jump to her, entering through her eyes and mouth, rushing down through her throat to her stomach. The warm orange glow quickly changed, the warmth being traded for the feeling of smoke and mist as it changed from orange to grey. With a great bellow, she leapt at the creature's stationary, lowered arm and brought her blade down as the energies she had consumed rushed into it. From her blade came a loud, howling buzz, and the blade sizzled into and through the oaken flesh of the ent, sawing its arm straight off. Priscilla backed off with a grunt and a sudden cough, which was quickly followed by a dry heave as the energies backlashed and made her stomach feel like a den of wasps caught in molasses. She wiped her mouth of spittle and looked to the others, "Dark magicks power this beast! Be wary!"
Molly felt the cool air of the medbay touch the bare skin of her scalp as the scissors snipped away a large patch of her luxurious mane. It was a strange feeling, a feeling of lightness but also absence. What was even stranger was the slight twinges of pain and discomfort as the needle entered and left the skin of her scalp, sealing up the wound with surprising speed. She forgot entirely that the cold cloth had even touched her head with the constant pulling and pushing on her wound, feeling as if tiny men were trying to pull her skin together by force. She grit her teeth and whimpered occasionally, but kept a stern face. She had received injuries before but none so debilitating. Unless you count the time she broke both her legs in a diamond heist gone wrong. She felt as if she were swimming in her own mind when the nurse and Dimitri spoke to each other, but full control of her mouth had returned to her. She could only manage to choke out, "I ain't no patchwork doll." The mixture of the breeze on her scalp and the twinges of pain from her skull made her pout, "We might as well just cut all of my hair off. After I grew it for so damn long." She looked up to Dimitri and shook him by his dented, scratched arm. "Name's Madame Smash, by the way. Hey, take a look what the nurse cut away. Think I can turn it into a mohawk or something?"
