I'm having way too much fun with my Legend of Zelda Encylopedia. This is the game that got me into roleplaying so have a lot invested in it's lore and stories. Too bad can't have all the games too.

Organizations for the most part can be used as they can be easy to incorporate into a single world. That said certain organizations might be too big and influential to mesh well so it is kind of a case by case basis. The BPRD in the spawn sheet is something that is very easy to incorporate and make sense in a modern day world type setting. The Black Order I feel is why too dependent on the universe it comes from to really fit well in this world.

Likewise something like the brotherhood of Nod is way too big of an organization and too specific to the franchise it comes from to fit anywhere in this setting. People couldn't really be living normal, ordinary lives with something like that on the scene. While I really don't think Shadowrunners could fit in either, due to game lore, but I will say there can be cases of specific cities or nations that could be rather 'special' due to certain circumstances/lore. In general if you want to try for an adaptation you'll have to severely limit the scope of many elements for it to work.

@Indra
Hmm...Naruto would be a hard one to squeeze into a modern day setting. I suppose if you separate characters from most of the lore it would be possible...I'd have to see the results to say for certain but I'd probably be a pretty harsh judge on something like that. Sounds like you at least have an idea of how to do that so, curious what you got if nothing else.
And here is the character that captured my imagination most recently. Say hello to-

Lukasz/Eden Blake Warrior/Sorcerer/Single Mother Canoga Park, California 12 Knights of Archimage

C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T

"Change…Growth…Power!…Having magical power is great but, WHY the HELL is my new body a WOMAN!?"

Lukasz was a soldier in the service of the great wizard Archimage around 470 AD. There were two very good reasons that he was employed by the Archimage. One, his younger brother Boneyard was a wicked sorcerer who wanted to enslave the entire world. Two, the Archimage granted his warriors the greatest gift possible, eternal reincarnation.

Lukasz fought in the Archimage’s employ for over 1500 years in an eternal struggle but in the present day, a betrayal broke the stalemate, which led to the capture of the Archimage and the destruction of his 12 knights latest bodies. Knowing he had been bested, the Archimage took a final gamble and sent his best knight, Lukasz, into the body of one who had the potential to be a great sorcerer. Much to Lukasz’s horror, he found himself inhabiting the body of Eden Blake, a young, divorced mother of two children.

Stuck in a young woman’s body, with two kids, a rather unstable life, and the important mission of rescuing the Archimage and defeating the evil sorcerer Boneyard, Lukasz is in a very precarious position. Thankfully Boneyard does not know who he reincarnated into which gives him some breathing room, but not as much as he would have liked considering Eden’s family situation. Finding the time to do everything that needs doing is going to be the hardest life of the old soldier’s career!

Mantra is a character I never even knew existed until I happened to stumble across her with a little random searching. Makes sense since her run was very short and her first version quickly left the scene once Marvel took over Malibu comics. As soon as I read her origin story I was hooked by the possibilities of the character. Such fascinating dynamics and ripe for all sorts of interesting developments.

I’ve also really wanted to use a magical type character for a while but was always quite unsure of who I could do well. Mantra has a certain lack of material to work with, which I think I can use to my advantage to mold the character beyond her limited run. Also the pure fact a guy’s mind is now in the body of a young woman is quite the recipe for hilarity, which will be fun to explore.

I want Mantra to grow as a character, to look back on their past mistakes and recognize all the harm they have done in their various incarnations. Stuck as a mother, Mantra will have to grow as a person and realize just how important their responsibilities as Eden Blake are, despite it not having anything to do with Lukasz's mission to Archimage. Coming to cope with his new identity will be a big part of his character arc, and how it affects those around him.

Archimage – A grand sorcerer of white magic, Archimage has been at war with his younger brother, Boneyard for over 1500 years. Currently the Archimage is captured by Boneyard and is the one responsible for sending Lukasz into Eden Blake. Trapped in another dimension, his only hope of escape is for Mantra to learn how to use her magical powers to defeat Boneyard.

Gus Blake Sr – Eden-Blake’s ex-husband who occasionally visits the kids. As Eden Blake has full custody rights, Gus is only semi-present in their lives. With Mantra now in the picture however, things might take an interesting turn…

Gus Blake Jr – A young boy of around 10 years old, Gus looks very similar to his father. As a young boy he is understandably grumpy about his life and is going through a bit of a rebellious stage. Also the recent changes in his mother’s personality has certainly added some confusion to the mix.

Evie Blake – The youngest of the Blake household, young Evie is very similar to her mother in looks, at least in the face and hair department. The poor girl is very confused by the sudden changes in her mother and really has no idea what to do. Her closest confidant and source of strength has grown distant, leaving Evie feeling more alone than ever.

Warstrike – A hero for hire. He was duped by Boneyard into killing Lukasz last male body, before he reincarnated into Eden Blake. He was understandably pissed off when he realized he had been used to help someone so evil and so has somewhat of a personal vendetta against Boneyard.

Guise – A purple mutated thing that has forgotten its original identity. It is a slave to Boneyard with the ability to shape shift into anything or anyone it desires.

Boneyard – The younger brother of Archimage, he is a user of black magic and necromancy with grand ambitions. His version of immortality for his minions is to raise them from the dead when they are killed. Ruthless, greedy, and evil, Boneyard has taken over a world in another dimension as his base of operations while he tried to amass enough power to take over the Earth.

Lord Pumpkin – A mystical being created by a wizard to entertain a young prince. The young prince was a brat who liked torturing things including his new playmate. Lord Pumpkin eventually rebelled and slaughtered the prince and the rest of the royal household, before long he toppled the entire kingdom. Filled with the desire to conquer new worlds and taking on some of the despicable tendencies of the prince, Lord Pumpkin traveled to Earth to continue his reign of terror and to amuse himself.

Slimes don't lay eggs silly. They go through mitosis and make copies of themselves. Slimes have a core/nucleus that divides itself when they decide to replicate. A slime can divide itself but it won't be a true 'new' slime unless a nucleus division is involved. So no Flan eggs, period.
Here is an example sheet. I've decided to change the sheet code I had up before to more align with what I have here.

The Powerpuff Girls!

Blossom, Bubbles, Buttercup

Powers And Abilities:
The Powerpuff Girls have superhuman strength, agility, and durability making them extremely tough. Perhaps most impressive is their ability to fly without any assistance at potentially supersonic speeds. Aside from their general powers each girl has their own unique skills. Blossom has an ice breath ability, Bubbles has a supersonic voice plus the ability to communicate with animals and in other languages, Buttercup has heat-vision and is able to curl her tongue. While each is strong on their own their true power is when they can work together to take down their foes, or survive a night at a high school social gathering.

Origin And Backstory:
Professor Utonium was a genius scientist who had it all, wealth, fame, and his beautiful wife, Anna. He was working on a new substance that seemed to have the remarkable ability to transform and strengthen anything it came in contact with; however the effects were unpredictable to say the least so his testing was limited to say the least. As the chemical was a complete unknown variable he decided to name it Chemical X like the much used Algebraic variable in math.

His inventions brought him great renown and fame but his happiest moment was when he learned that his wife was pregnant with triplets. Doctor Utonium was over the moon with joy and all his colleagues could say he was the happiest man in the world, but then Anna got sick and started to deteriorate. No doctor could help her so the distraught doctor could only come to one conclusion, he had to bet it all on Chemical X. As he prepared a batch of the stuff however one of his lab monkeys managed to escape from his cage and having a bit of a sweet tooth and being a kleptomaniac, swiped sugar, spice, and random nice things he could find. The doctor chased him around but while he did, the monkey dropped his items which fell into the vat, broke a small vial of storage chemical X for small testing purposes and escaped the lab.

The doctor had no time for another batch and the Chemical X already absorbed the items, leaving the doctor no choice but to use the contaminated batch in a desperate attempt to save his wife and his children. After drinking the batch, Anne fell into a deep sleep for a while but seemed to recover somewhat. Soon afterward, she gave birth to triplets but died in the process due to complications. The triplets however were quite lively and strangely enough had quite different appearances to each other, so much so that Utonium could only attribute the differences as a byproduct of the Chemical X. He named his daughters Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup in memory of the things Anne loved and somewhat secluded himself from the rest of the scientific community so he could focus on raising his daughters more.

As they grew up he began to notice strange things happening with his daughters, floating off the ground, picking up heavy objects without breaking a sweat, rarely bleeding, once even setting the curtains on fire by staring at them too intensely. Quickly the doctor had to teach them self-control so they wouldn’t accidentally destroy the neighborhood. Once the girls had become twelve, strange crimes and events starting happening around them and before long, the girls were thrust into battle when Doctor Utonium was kidnapped by his previous lab monkey, Mojo Jojo in order to get his hands on the Chemical X formula.

The girls quickly tracked down the evil monkey and defeated him, saving their father and giving birth to the dynamic superhero team, the Powerpuff Girls! Currently the girls are fifteen years old and just starting high school where they try to find balance between their normal lives and superhero ones. It won’t be long before they’ll have to save more than just their town, maybe even the world!

Supporting Characters:

  • Good Guys
    • Professor Utonium
    • Mayor Barney
    • Ms. Bellum
    • Ms. Keane
    • Mitch Mitchelson [Goodness debatable]
  • Major Pains-in-the-Butt

    • Mojo Jojo
    • Him
    • Princess Morbucks
    • The Ganggreen Gang
    • Fuzzy Lumpkins

Sample Post:

As you can see the origin and backstory I used for the characters differs quite a bit from the original source material; however even with the various changes they're still very much powerpuff girls. As to if I'll actually use this or not I'm not sure, but should help you get an idea of what I'm looking for.
So here are some potential ideas of how you could potential modify characters to fit into a single Universe.

  • The Thundercats could be used if we changed the time period they were in. They could crash land in some uninhabited place like perhaps the African Plains or perhaps the Cascade Mountains and have to get used to their new life on Earth. The fact that they would be in a modern day earth rather than a post-apocalyptic one would completely change their story arcs. Perhaps they would try to integrate themselves or at get to know humanity. Mumm-Ra would probably be asleep at first but could be woken up by the Thundercats somehow.
  • Something like MegaMan could easily be modified to fit in a shared world. Pretty much just have to drop some of the world lore to make it fit in a shared universe, pretty simple.
  • Generator Rex would need a serious overhaul to the backstory and have a much more localized nano disaster so there wouldn't be as many EVOs to contain and cure but could still have trouble with the main villains, perhaps trying to spread the nanobots to the entire world, or just do regular hero type stuff.

The main point is you need to come up with a way to safely integrate the character into a shared universe setting that is similar to the real world, or at least a comic book world that is based on ours. A lot of shows might have mechanics or lore that really wouldn't work well in a shared universe so you will need to either modify it or find another source of inspiration. In general, try not to use a character from a world too far advanced to mesh well with a more present society, or a character where the needed changes to fit would kind of destroy their identity.
This will be a non-DC/Marvel single universe role play. The type of characters you can play can come from Indie Comics, Cartoons, Video Games, and maybe even a few TV series/movies. Of course you can't just pick any character or any series, they have to be able to fit into a somewhat modern day setting and a universe with a lot of heroes and villains in it. Feel free however, to modify your character as much as you want from the original, as long as we can identify it as that character otherwise you'd be better off just making an original which is not what I'm looking for here.

When thinking what character and series you may want to role play here are a few main points to think about.

  • Can the character fit into a modern world with heroes type setting?
  • If I modify or need to modify the character is the character still recognizable as said character?
  • Do I feel able to make my own stories with the character when I am not involved in some kind of GM led crisis or event?

So as you can probably tell this will be very similar in format to a few other role plays, such as Absolute Comics, which is a DC/Marvel combined universe setting. After being involved with a few of these myself, I think what has ultimately led to then running out of steam was a lack of events and content for players to interact with outside of their own stories and crossovers with each other. Of course such events will be voluntary but to help those who either need a break from writing their own stories or simply prefer playing against the environment I hope to have frequent GM led events.

Ok, with that said here is what I am looking for.

Note you will have to mess with the code a little bit to get it to work, but should help a lot to make a pretty sheet.

I'll hash out more details later but for now this can at least get your mind gears turning.
Flan

Thankfully, despite having her kitchen invaded and nearly ruined, the industrious little slime had everything back under control without any problems. Everything was back how she liked it, except for an influx of ingredients. In order to help remedy the situation she had decided to enlist the help of the harvest slime squad.

Like pretty much every slime currently in the Chateau they had been a creation of her rather strange creator SlipperySavior. The harvest slime squad had two very important tasks: The first was the obvious one, they were ingredient gatherers that could literally fill themselves to the brim with any random thing they found useful or delicious. The second was a very particular task that was only useful to Flan, they could be her food testers.

The harvest slimes had the ability to taste anything they touched as their whole body was literally a sensory organ capable of digestion. So whenever a harvest slime came back from a gathering mission, they meld a part of their body with Flan and transmit the exact sensations they experienced with everything they had tasted that day. From the data alone Flan could tell exactly what would taste good, what was actually edible for non-slime consumption, and what benefits said product might have. It would be extremely valuable information since they were stuck in this new world. Until they discovered locations to routinely harvest from, the harvest slimes task at the moment was to taste test every single thing on the mountain top they called home, and any discovers of potential seasonings was to be the number one priority.

@Archmage MC
At the moment that Light burst into the kitchen, harvest slime Tapioca, a white slime, had just started the temporary melding process with Flan to share its findings. Essentially it looked like Flan was sucking up Tapioca into one of her hair tendrils, dyeing most of it white, though stopped before it reached her head to make sure the melding process didn't become more permanent, and to prevent Flan from accidentally eating the white slime. Slimes really did have very unique biology and the sight could be downright terrifying for some.

Flan smiled at Light as she shouted out her request. "Oh? You need some of my specialty for the prisoners? I would be tempted to tell you that it would be a waste of good food and yet I find myself curious as to what has you so excited for using my flan? Should only be a second more and I'll be done with Tapioca here." Flan didn't want to risk trying to make anything during one of her melding sessions as it required quite precise control to do effectively and safely for the slimes involved. Her entire body went completely frigid for a second, signaling the process was done, and Tapioca carefully extracted itself from Flan's tendril and slipped merrily away.

From the information she acquired, there were a few things of note. First, the goat creatures that seemed to inhabit the mountain were quite a tough meat, so she would have to cook accordingly to tenderize them. Second, there were a few flowers and herbs that could be usable. Most notably there was a plant kind of similar to a dandelion that could be used as a garnish and salad, a flower that had somewhat sweet nectar that could be extracted as perhaps a sort of syrup, and a sort of green fruit that was poisonous but would be possible to boil out the impurities and create a pleasant juice. It wasn't exactly a great variety of usable materials so far but it was a start and a few of the harvest slimes were be directed to their procurement at once.

"Well how much will you need Light? The less the better at the moment until we find some could ingredient sources, but for the good of the Chateau I can make some for you." Flan quickly fired up the stove top and her various tendrils quickly gathered up the ingredients, water, sugar, eggs, milk, and vanilla. Due to her high resistances Flan was probably one of the least effected by Light's insanity aura, even direct contact wouldn't really do too much to her unless Light really was trying to make her mad. Also being a slime, made it very easy for her to slip out of any tricky situations.

It would only take a few minutes for Flan to make the requested flan for...interrogation as strange as that seemed. A request was a request though Flan was making sure to use lower quality ingredients since she wasn't sure how much of the flan would actually be used in the correct manner of consumption. It would still be tasty of course but with very little stat boosts, if any.
Two of my members have dropped out so if anyone is interested I've decided to open this back up for applicants. We haven't gotten very far as the Holidays kind of sapped everyone's energy but I'm hoping to get things rolling back up again. If nothing else take a gander and see if it catches your fancy!

Location: Angel City - November 26, Thursday
Event: Monster Phase Start
Monster

The crowd watched as the parade went by, the festive mood permeated the air with joy. Kids smiled and adults too, everyone was snacking, talking, and just in general enjoying the wonderful day. Emily and Denise started another routine with their team as their float started to get near to where the new warriors were located.

"Hey Emily, have you been hearing that sound? I can't tell where it's coming from." Denise asked as she bounced off of Emily's hands to do a backflip, to which Emily responded in kind.

"You've been hearing it too? It's been getting louder, at least it's consistent like a metronome so it hasn't messed us up but it is kind of annoying."

"Ya I swear if that think keeps getting louder I'm gonna throw a fit...was there a float like that?" Denise nodded to behind them where a giant clock, thing stood. The second hand on its face clicked and suddenly, it was easy to tell where the sound was coming from.

TICK TOCK TICK TOCK TICK TOCK TICK TOCK
TICK TOCK TICK TOCK TICK TOCK TICK TOCK

Where in the world had it come from? Emily didn't remember any floats that looked so, creepy. Also it didn't appear to have any wheels which shouldn't be possible for something that big to move.

TICK
A hand was up in the air.

TOCK
A giant hook with carved runes appeared in its hand.

"Oh No you DON'T!" Shouted a girl who erupted from the crowd wielding a large, flaming sword. By the next Tick, the hook met metal as the hook and sword clashed against each other. Sparks erupted and scattered into the air, bathing the nearby floats and paraders in their glow as Aria stood her ground against the large mechanical monstrosity, her feet firmly planted on the gymnastic team's float. "I won't let you hurt them!"

"What is that!?" One of my gymnasts screamed as one of the sparks stung her. Quickly panic set in and the gymnastics quickly fled for their lives from the battle zone, abandoning their stage. Confused onlookers at first didn't know what was going on, but quickly they realized it was not just for show and soon, the crowds became stampedes to get away form the area. Utter Chaos loomed in the streets as people fled and the sound of the ticking clock echoed in their ears.

Aria amazingly stood her ground against the much larger monster, her magically enhanced muscles giving her the strength to push back against its weight. The runes on the hook started to glow neon green and a strange hum could be heard. Aria braced herself for increased pressure from the monster, but instead her flames burned out and her sword turned to ash. A final Tock could be heard as her sword withered away, and the hook smashed into her, ramming her down through the float and splitting it in two.

Aria crawled out of the wreckage, her body mangled from the impact and blood stained her clothes. The monster stared with its clock face, expressionless and mechanical. She tried to get up, but her body was unable to even do that and she collapsed to the ground, hand reaching for the sky in desperation.

"No, I finally had the chance to see her again...Marigold..." She spoke the name of her sister that she wanted to see, one last time, before she was crushed by the weight of the hook as ClockWork struck again.

The warrior Aria Phoenis, was no more.

The Entity stared at the chaos without flinching, it was too bad, she had wanted to experience more of the festival before the monster arrived; hopefully they would be able to stop it and save the festival before it was too late. "They always pick the worst times to appear. Ahhh, too bad."

Despite the horror they had just witnessed the Entity's appeared completely unfazed and detached from the carnage. It was actually a bit eerie and a perfect reminded that despite appearances, it was not human.
And also the best Star Wars movie they've ever made

I see you trying to sneak in that subliminal messaging there.

Heavens I hated the Star Trek Reboots, sure they were fun and flashy but they were most certainly not Star Trek. All flash and no substance which is the exactly opposite of what Star Trek is suppose to be. Star Trek is suppose to be about asking hard questions about the possible future and commentary on issues we have today, not blasting the next week's bad guy.

TLJ is probably my least favorite but I do wonder if that will change once I've seen the last one. I'll give them props for trying something new but...I will never get over that terrible Hyperspace kamikaze attack. Also those stupid 'bombers' IN SPACE and the arching cannon shots from the star destroyers, IN SPACE just about killed me. Applying planetary type logic to space battles is just...ugh. If they hadn't messed up such fundamentals I 'might' have been more inclined to give the story a chance. Ok, probably not but at least then I wouldn't have felt almost, insulted by the movie.
