Lucius glanced over his shoulders at the two people that entered the diner, their steps and movements in general carried a certain weight that betrayed their causal looks. The red-head seems disinterested in everyone else in the establishment...no, rather no one prompted her to react. The woman next to her, however, scanned the room with tension in her shoulders until she saw whatever she needed to see...or lack thereof...and continued along with the red-head. If Lucius hadn't already engaged in a conversation, he might have tried to make an impression. A portion of egg and a piece of jellied toast made its way to his mouth, its flavor was acceptable but nothing that he hadn't ever tasted before. Even so, he feigned contentment so as to not drawn any more attention to his true behavior.
Mentally he sighed as Emelie asked him about his meal. It was a rather cute trick to hide the spell casting with the tea cup, but while he might be old his hearing was quite perceptive. After all, its far easier to deal with witch or warlock when you can hear the spell they are casting. He had wished his hearing was as good as it was now when he was trudging through the thick woods of Germania. Credit where it was due, the Gauls understood how to set ambushes and use fear to their advantage "It really hits the spot y'know? I'm not sure how it compares to Ylva's though. How about yours, Millie? Those pancakes look pretty good." He continued to eat after a light chuckle. While he admitted her previous trick was a tad clever, staring him down trying to pull anything out was not. Disappointing. His attention, however, was grabbed by Ylva speaking about his state of health. It seemed the guard dog wished to bark.
The edges of his lips trembled as he kept eye contact with Ylva, the smile on his face appearing to weaken "Sorry, its just..." Somberness once again crept into this voice, hesitation settling in as if there was something he didn't want to talk about "Its just that I remembered something that happened to me recently..." He took a deep breath, trying to pick up the pieces of his smile but it lacked the brightness he had started with, as if having him to try and explain why caused him to recall that fictitious event even more. He tried to shake off whatever trauma that had been brought up "I'm alright, really! I can't wait to finish my food so we can see the town. I hope you'll tell us a story of where you come from, Ylva!" What should have been an emotional roller-coaster, would appear as nothing to Emelie's spell and he hoped she would read it as such. There was one truth, he was eager to finish his breakfast and see what more he could learn.
