The oncoming Caterpie halted its tackle mere feet away from Zulu. Its body shaking with the effort to break from her Ekans' leer attack. It was vulnerable, and its previous backup Weedles had fled at the sight of both Richard and C.J. taking control of the previously chaotic situation. C.J. dug her heel into the dirt, keeping her gaze trained on Zulu and his assailant. She saw a flash of red and white from the corner of her eye, so Richard was going to attempt a capture on his Caterpie. C.J. knew she needed another partner to gain that fabled ribbon case, but another poison Pokémon wouldn't be as advantageous as catching a different type. Of course, Caterpie was a bug for now, but it wouldn't stay that way as it evolved. A memory of a field of yellow buttercups flashed through her head, replaying a scene of a small girl peeking between the long stems at a hungry Butterfree. The deep, hearty laugh of a man echoed in the distance as click, and a blinding flash of light quickly halted the happy daydream.

C.J. shook from her thoughts just as a feeble white strand shot from the weakened Caterpie's mouth. Zulu luckily didn't need a command to quickly evade the oncoming string shot attack, his slinky scales whispering against the fallen leaves scattered all around them. She nodded her head and grinned thankfully at her partner. Surely Zulu would gain some much needed experience from winning this battle, and he was sure to succeed. C.J.'s knuckles curled into fists at her sides as she called out the final command, "Good Zulu, now show him an honorable end. Wrap!" Zulu's golden eyes flashed over in a brief apologetic manner as he quickly coiled around the small creature, flinging it somewhat gently against a sturdy tree base deeper into the forest. Zulu and C.J. held their breaths as they not only waited to see if they were victorious, but also as Richard's Pokéball bounced off the other Caterpie and engulfed it in an entrancing light.

@LucidnonsenseI think your creativity is encouraged. As long as the character's abilities fit those of its were-type, I say work on your CS. *Also I work in an aquarium, so of course I'd say go for it!

@SnarfulblastUmmm... that one I don't know. I'd assume modern simply because of the plot line. That's a question for the GM.
Her face slick with dew, C.J. rose to stand in the forest cleaning; Zulu slithered down to her feet, assessing all that surrounded them. From behind she heard Richard as he barreled in, flinching slightly at his reprimanding tone. Before the girl could retort, several different cries echoed together throughout the treetops. C.J. spun on her heels to witness the smaller Caterpie wriggle itself below Richard's neckline. She unsuccessfully tried to stifle her laughter with a hand to her lips as his Ekans added to the unfolding chaos. Once the backup Weedle pair began firing, she had to duck and shuffle out of the danger. Zulu followed his partner gracefully, but turned on a dime as the larger Caterpie charged towards him. C.J. watched as his body tensed, preparing for the impact. A small shudder of nerves slightly shook the snake's body. The Caterpie was too close for comfort, and C.J. needed to throw out a command fast. She racked her brain for a strategy, knowing that Zulu's tackle would be sloppy because of his defensive stance. Suddenly, the young trainer knew what to ask of Zulu and called out to him confidently. "Zulu, use leer! His golden eyes shone hypnotically as he faithfully obeyed, the tip of his tail shaking violently in an attempt to frighten the bug. If Zulu could lower its defense, the slight second of apprehension would be enough for the quick Pokémon to launch a powerful wrap attack. Stopping the agitated Caterpie in its tracks. C.J. spared a quick glance at Richard, praying that her distraction would give the two time to compose themselves as well.

The Australian heat hung thickly in the corners of the small dilapidated hut where Del waited patiently for her latest contract. Smuggler. That's what the client had called him, among many other more foul names, as he had dropped a small pouch of treasures into the woman's waiting hand. The Mortis name, although tainted by her mother, carried an assurance to it that encouraged most of her smarter clients to pay up front. Besides, most mortals had no desire to be caught in her serpentine stare more than once; they knew she was more than capable of finishing their "jobs". From a distance, Del heard the footsteps she'd been anticipating. In rhythm they walked closer and closer to the splintered wooden door, the ocean waves pushing against the sandy shore in full force as the moon shone authoritatively above. Her eyelids were gently shut, her body no more than a piece of the white-washed walls covered in fish netting, the footsteps had reached the steps now. A small exhale released from Del's body as her hands silently slid down to concealed twin daggers between her legs. Creeeeeeeaaaaaaaaak, the hinges wailed in protest as a taut, pale arm reached around the frame. The man was abnormally thin with dark, hollow eyes from what could only be hunger and fatigue. His bearded face had a long, recently clotted laceration stretching from his widow's peak to his neckline. Del could smell the semi-fresh wound even before her wicked eyes shot open. In a movement too quick for a mortal to perceive, Del's muscular arm was wrapped tightly around the fragile man's collar bone. She squeezed his back against her feminine body, the force constricting his exhausted lungs. Her sensual lips brushed against his ear as she whispered sinisterly, "Who else is hunting you, mortal?" The man made a few feeble attempts to loosen Del's grip on his body, but her wrists held firm. "I...can...ple, ca... brea..." Del rolled her eyes in annoyance before slightly releasing the man's chest. He choked on the musty air, grimy sweat rolling down his forehead, and faintly answered Del's question. "Emissaries. French emissaries." The man's sweat mingled with the salt of his tears as he began to plead, "Please, I have a family. I can give you information about the attack if you'll protect me from those..."

Before the smuggler could finish, Del clapped a hand over his filthy mouth. She held a warning finger against her throat as she pushed the man deep into the corner she had once been hiding in. He remained fearfully silent as Del crept towards the open door, listening intently. In an instant, her fingers curled around the hilts of her daggers, lodging them securely into the broad neck that had just stumbled into the open room. The bulky Frenchman fell to the floor, his limbs writhing in silent agony as the poison worked its way throughout his body. Del straddled the dying man, crouching so low to his chest that her thighs brushed against his leather armor. She stroked her silken finger across his jawline before ripping her daggers from his flesh. A final grunt and spasm wrecked through him as Del casually stood and turned to face her original, cowering target. She grabbed the man be his weathered shirt collar and pulled him forcefully to face her. "I'm not one for small talk, but you've peaked my interest. What attack, and be quick about it... your little 'friend' has dampened my mood." With a trembling tongue the man enlightened Del about an attack in France which has supposedly killed someone of great importance. Despite his cowardice, he had spitefully added that the culprit was suspected to be a were-bastard. At this sentiment, Del cocked her head slightly and leaned in towards him. Her breath was hot against his nose and lips as she muttered, "A were-bastard saved your life..." His breathing became shallow as his widened eyes met Del's hypnotic gaze, "and subsequently ended it." She pressed her lips fiercely to his own, delivering her adder's venom with a flick of her tongue. She threw him to the floor and spat on both dead bodies before sauntering out the door.

Del swam gracefully through the dim ocean waters, creatures below slinking away at her fearsome presence. The waves lapped over her arms and legs and her mind raced with the words of her latest victim. It wasn't uncommon for her kind to attack mortals, there were many who did without any promise of monetary reward, but to kill the leader of a well-known country. She dove below the surface of the water as the wind impeded her visibility from above. Her scaled skin shone beautifully in the moonlight as she raced around the cape of Africa and through the cold Atlantic waters. She would reach France's shoreline by dawn, but her thoughts were plagued by what and who could possibly be waiting to greet her. She somersaulted playfully and bubbles trailed in her wake. On the other hand, she thought, a rendezvous in Paris would be exhilarating!

I'm glad the idea worked out with everyone! Excited to start the IC.
C.J. smiled sweetly and nodded her head as Richard praised his Ekans. From the corner of her eye she watched the man's partner puff up with pride, his purple scales bristling in the now rising sun. She felt a surge of excitement herself as Richard enthusiastically agreed to accompany the pair into the forest. Just as she opened her mouth to respond, the martial artist disappeared into his well stocked hut. C.J. averted her gaze and conversation to the two Pokémon below, "Extended training session?" An eyebrow raised in questioning. It seemed Richard was lighter on his feet than C.J. had anticipated as he quickly lugged his bag of supplies back towards the group. "I guess better safe than sorry!" She reached down towards Zulu, offering him her outstretched arm.And obvioussssly your trainer isssssn't aware that C.J.'s idea of an extended workout would be one where her tongue doessss all the work. She'sss never mastered the concept of sssssilence.

Zulu briefly winked one of his golden eyes as he slithered onto C.J. The young girl sat her knuckles against the leather of her belted satchel, her spindly arms ending in sharp points on either side. Her blue eyes soaked up the bright oranges and reds creeping over the horizon with the rising sun. Her mind racing at the potential Pokémon partners just waking up within the dense forest. She chuckled before joyfully strolling towards the dewy outstretched branches beckoning to the eager group. As they neared the edge of the tree line, Zulu's tail shook in warning against C.J.'s skin. She patted her forearm through the jacket sleeve and gave Richard a wary smile. "Last one inside is a Chansey's egg!" With that, she ducked beneath the leafy barrier, droplets of water scattering on and around her body.

@KaijuBaragonWhat if the Finned Beast, unbeknownst to him, attacked and killed a foreign diplomat (or someone else of great importance) and now that country is threatening war with France unless they do something about him? Obviously the people, knowing his power, have probably feigned years of ignorance at the multitude of missing persons etc. The Finned Beast can't speak for himself, so maybe the French leader is desperate enough to call on the aid of other were creatures in the event of war?? Maybe some of us will agree to help and/or protect in any way we can, and maybe some of us are siding with the beast. Just maybe this is the spark other were creatures needed to act upon their thoughts of a rebellion. A chance to gain control of a prominent country??? I'm pulling at straws here, so please don't feel like this is the idea to use. Just trying to be helpful.

Also... just throwing this out there too. Sorry to rely on the beast so much, but if the other country dug up classified information on the beast's origins, that could also lead to another viable reason to capture him. Humans wanting to attempt control over were creatures again as super soldiers. Could create some nasty tensions, betrayals, and just drama all around.

Well Del's in the land down under, but adders are great swimmers. In were form a long journey by boat would only take her half the time. I'm game for the "big event" to take place wherever seems most appropriate! She'll make a fun entrance either way :)

@Skinner35Sharing in your enthusiasm! I'm sure once the IC gets up and running we may have a couple more writers show interest as well.
