Do not go gentle into that good night
By: Dylan Thomas

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Welcome to The Galacitc Vices OOC!

The Galactic Vices will function as an introduction of a new character to the fold, Vasani'Brinme, as well as providing a bit of a look into the Hutt Crime Empire on Nar Shaddaa. This is meant to be a single event, so there won't be multiple episodes associated with this RP unless there is a demand for it! That being said, this is set in the persistent galaxy and there is a fair amount of characters from various backgrounds existing here. The actions those characters may take during the events of this RP will have ramifications throughout the galaxy (at the scale Hutt crimelords can affect anyways), after all, Hutts do tend to have long memories and nobody really forgives a grudge. I do hope to see a fair amount of varied characters turning up to try to claim some of Krembal's goods on sale, or even just to unwind in the massive casino he owns. That being said, onto the part you people really care about: The Story Premise!

There has been word spreading across the galaxy recently, not something that would really be seen on the Holonet but more by word of mouth and the back alleys of the galaxy. Yet still, this word permeates throughout the galaxy to try to reach as many ears as possible. What is it? Why, an invitation to come to Nar Shaddaa, to the Galactic Vices Resort and Casino! An invitation to come and spend your credits, perhaps walking away a big winner with more credits than one could imagine. To indulge in the vices the rest of the galaxy may shun, for what happens at the Vices stays within its walls. Come, visit the playground built by the mighty Hutt known simply as Krembal. He invites you to come visit, to forget for a time the problems that the galaxy may throw down upon you.

Yet there is even more incentive to come visit the good Hutt in his mighty casino than to simply play and indulge in one's vices. For Krembal, in all his glory, has amassed quite a wealth of credits and possessions. Some of these possessions being quite valuable to certain members of the galactic community. Yet in his undying generosity, he has seen fit to offer it first to the patrons and members at his glorious casino. That's right, Krembal the Hutt is holding a special auction at the Galactic Vices, with a rather impressive list of products which can be bought. This list being obtained through... various means over the years and now completely available to anybody with enough credits to buy. The highlights of this list? Jedi Relics lost to the order and recovered by the mighty Hutt! One of his well trained and exotic slaves, eager to please her new owner! Scrapped parts from a Mandalorian Basilisk droid, a mighty machine of war now in possession of the Hutt! A still functioning HK-52 head, who knows what secrets that may hold? Of course, those who love art are not forgotten by Krembal as he has a legendary Alderaanian painting known as Alderaan's mountains at sunset! There is much, much more on the list for the auction, but one cannot reveal everything ahead of time!

So come one, come all to the Galactic Vices Casino and Resort, where you may yet walk away with value beyond your wildest imaginings!

Basically, this RP will follow along with our protagonists at their stay and during the auction at the Galactic Vices casino. Where it will be up to the players who gets what product, how they obtain said good, and much more. How this event will turn out is ultimately up to us, the players, and the repercussions from our actions will surely be felt throughout the galaxy. Of course, that doesn't mean I don't have a little bit of a surprise planned for the RP as it stands.

Imperials, Republic, Jedi, and Sith are welcome! Sith may attend if they wish to see the auction however we'd like to keep the number of Jedi and Sith to a less recognizable amount. A few strange additions in the room might be okay but lots of Jedi and Sith turning up to a Hutt's auction would be a bit suspect. Imperial personal are welcome to be in attendance perhaps here to snag an item or two for a private Sith collection or Imperial trophy case?

Vasani’Brinme

The girl sat miserably upon the dais, her collar chained to the armrest that the master of this whole miserable place, Krembal the Hutt, so often used. The casino floor had not yet been opened for the day, a rather rare situation for the Galactic Vices. A casino that was partially known for being open at all hours of every day. Yet today, it sat dormant at these hours as the final preparations for Krembal’s big event were finishing up. A respite which normally the twi’lek would have loved, as it meant that she was not tasked with entertaining or elsewise showing herself off like some damned trophy for the Hutt. Instead, this relief was stolen away by the dread of what was coming. The attendees to Krembal’s auction? They were not a worry, as it would simply be more of the usual for the girl. No, it was rather some of the goods that would be on sale. Well, one of them in particular. Hira'niseela, or Numa as Vasani called her, was going to be auctioned off that day. The young twi’leks only friend in this damned place who didn’t want something out her, a woman that she saw as an older sister. Yet after today, she knew that she wouldn’t see her ever again. Her world would simply be all the darker because of it.

Of course, it most certainly didn’t help matters that Vasani was to be a part of selling off Hira’niseela. Whenever the auction began, she was tasked with showing off each of the goods on sale while the auctioneer spoke on them. Of course, the slave knew that this was more of looking attractive up on stage with whatever was on sale to draw attention, entice them. It only irritated her all the more that Krembal felt he could just use her in such ways. To the Hutt, she was nothing more than a trophy to be shown off to others. A way to flaunt his power, and his net worth over others. After all, who else had a slave so exotic? Only Krembal, Lord of the Underworld and Drug Empire. Lord of the Sleemo Vasani thought to herself, appreciating the one place the Hutt couldn’t get to her as she shot a dirty look towards the slug.

Fortunately for the girl, the Hutt didn’t seem to notice that look as he carried on about his business. A disgusting display as he gorged himself and barked orders at the slaves setting up the casino floor. Certain tables and machines were moved to different parts of the casino, and a little stage for the auction was set up directly before Krembal’s Dais. Just enough space sat between the end of the stage and the chairs for action stood that those attending would see the massive grate on the floor. This, of course, is a trap door directly into the Rancor den that sat below the mighty Casino. The preparations were nearly complete, as the cases for the goods were rolled out onto the stage. That way they could grab the attention of the attendees while they enjoyed the drinks and snacks the Hutt provided before the auction. Among them, was a large cage with a rather beautiful blue-skinned twi’lek dancing rather provocatively within. This particular item was the one that grabbed Vasani’s attention, as she turned towards the cage that held Numa within. So desperately she wanted to do something but knew she was completely powerless against the mighty Hutt and his forces. So with a small sigh, she settled into that familiar feeling of uselessness that was just becoming more and more common for her.

Then a platform lowered down to be even with the dais, and Vasani sighed to herself as she slowly stood. Waiting while one of the guards approached and unhooked the twi’lek from her chain, then grabbing her bicep to escort her onto the platform. Once on the platform, the guard stepped back and clicked a small button on his datapad. There was a low hum around Vasani as the platform’s energy field shimmered to life around the girl. So it seemed that the Casino was finally about to open for the day. While dreading the rest of the day, she knew better than to linger and stand around in her little cage. Else the collar would shock her, or she would get shocked by the force barriers. With a sigh, Vasani moved towards the pole in the middle of the platform and held on as it moved towards the center of the casino. Floating above the tables and machines, she was on clear display to just about everybody who would be in the casino on that day. As the music started up through the casino, Brin started to move with the beat as she forced herself to wear that sweet smile so she wouldn’t get shocked and started to dance to the music.

At that moment, the doors to the casino would open outwards, allowing the patrons waiting outside entrance into the building. The lights were dimmed for the main floor, with the various bright flashes given from the machines drawing the attention of all those entering. The massive hall had a ceiling so high that it was hard to really see the details of it all. All around the outside of the hall were rings of balconies, each with tables one could go play at. The higher a table, the higher the stakes. Loud, energetic music played through the building to draw patrons in. The entire atmosphere designed to entice people to come in and forget their worries. To play on the machines, and forget the outside world. To assist with this, various bars were spread throughout the building for ease of access. Scantily clad slaves moved about the building to offer complimentary snacks and refreshments to the patrons. Spotlights highlighted various girls dancing either on raised platforms in between machines or on floating repulsor lift platforms. Of course, in the center of the build was the highlight of Krembal’s collection: A red-skinned twi’lek dancing on the repulsorlift platform. Hers bathed in a shade of red, instead of the typical white light of the others.

Then at the back of the casino on a raised dais where he could see all, sat Krembal the Hutt. Before him was a platform with each of the goods of the auction for the day in its own case and highlighted by various lights. These meant to draw the eye to the rather rare goods one could walk away the new owner of by the end of that day.

The Galactic Vices was open for business.

Jade thought about what she could do with this new information, seeing as she was now assured she could date somebody if a special person came along. But that was something for later, as much as her teenaged mind defaulted to romantic stories of summer love at the camp. Her mind was captured by the idea of some boy at camp coming by and sweeping her off her feet, not even caring for the fact that she could not see. Enough so that she was closing her eyes and humming slightly at the fantasy playing in her thoughts. A sweet, innocent little melody before she opened her eyes and realized this wasn't the case.

"What about you? Do you have a special someone at this camp?" She asked the oracle, a friendly little smile on her face as she seemed to have decided that Rosie was a newfound friend. Intent on just getting to know her new friend as a person as opposed to an oracle, or pestering her further about the camp. As the girl figured that it would get pretty irritating to constantly be pestered about how the whole camp worked. So she opted to not bring up anything this time around.

The man was in a state of slight amazement, seeing as they had just managed to build a goddamn time machine. He was even more amazed that it seemed like they would be able to pull this whole thing off without half a million Ultron-bots coming out of nowhere to slaughter them like it was no business. Yet they had managed to finish building the device, all the same, something that he still halfway thought would be impossible, and was almost certain would kill them if they used it. Then they went and did exactly that, they used the time machine to go back in time. Roman closed his eyes as they traveled, practically embracing the death he was certain awaited them all.

Yet then he heard people bustling all around him, and the group talking to each other. Slowly he blinked his eyes open and looked around with a slightly slack-jawed expression. They had done it, from the looks of it. They were in some sort of SHIELD installation, and it truly did seem they had gone back in time. Either that or they had all died and the afterlife really sucked if it was just more work for SHIELD. With that thought in mind, he decided that he wanted to believe that they had truly traveled back in time. Turning his attention back towards the rest of the group, Roman listened silently even as he scanned the surroundings to enjoy the Ultron-less world.

The girl sat silent for a long few moments as she contemplated the Oracle's words on what happened when she saw the future. Her mind focusing on the part where the girl seemed to state that she didn't particularly remember what she said, or happened. Given that she said she was told by others that things occurred. "So does it just like, take over and you can't remember anything that is said? That's kinda... sucky." Jade said after a bit more pondering before her attention was once more grabbed by Rosie talking about the game or liking the camp.

She gave an awkward little smile towards the direction of Rosie's voice, shrugging her shoulders a little. "Are they? I can't tell, the screen isn't giving me a play-by-play that I can hear." She said with a small chuckle, trying to keep the conversation light-hearted. "Its a little strange to accept everything happening at this camp, but I think I might like it. Though I need to know, are all the Greek Gods actually like... genetically related? Because what if some really nice guy is at this camp does that mean I like... can't date him? This is very important to me."

The man stood silently as everybody went about their business, then turned his attention away from the others and towards his tablet. Immediately the man was engrossed with the work he had on there. He started with the basics, trying to figure out what each step of the process would require. Though it wouldn't be long before he recognized he was wholly unequipped to solve this problem on his own. Looking towards the others, Roman went to ask for help as his mind was already working away at the issue.

Then turning back to his work at hand, he became quickly engrossed and never noticed Doom approaching him. Hearing the sudden voice, Roman looked up in surprise as he hadn't been expecting the villain to approach him. "The guy who doesn't need to hide his face behind a mask." Was all Roman said towards Doom before moving towards Niah. Looking over at the woman, Roman let out a small sigh of irritation. "Doom is a bit of an ass. Anyways, I'm not convinced on how safe Time Travel will be, I think I could probably get some designs up for a form of suits, gadgets, gear and such that might facilitate us surviving the trip a bit better." He suggested towards Niah, looking at her to see how she felt about his suggestion.

Laundry Day!

January 3, 8:00 AM
New York City, New York - Chinese Hand Laundry Alliance

When one thinks about being a superhero, they really tend to focus on the glorious highlights of the job. Swooping in to save the day at the last moment from some impossible villain, dashing into burning buildings to save innocent lives, and wearing around a cool costume to get all sorts of glory. Yet what nobody seems to consider for reasons that are unknown are the boring parts that come with the job as well. Gathering intelligence, those long interviews with police after you stop a crime, and the most dreadful of all things superhero: Laundry Day. While most others would simply stare at a young hero and call them insane for thinking that their laundry day is one of the worst parts of their job, a certain young woman was acutely aware of the painful truth. With most clothes, one can simply toss them into the washer and be done with it after a little bit. Yet such was not true with the outfits that most superheroes would wear. No, instead one has to ensure the costume is set through a delicate wash and ensure that they are able to get the particularly difficult stains out of the costume. After all, nobody wants to run around with the blood of some villain you just sucker-punched into a wall on your cape. On top of all that, you have to be even more careful when washing your costume to ensure that others don't see it. Otherwise, you just might be doomed to having your secret identity found out. Then you're stuck being the hero persona that you live like for every second of your life, which oddly enough is not as fun as it sounds. Sometimes it's really nice just to be a normal person out on the streets as opposed to the hero icon everybody looks up to.

These thoughts were fresh in the internal monologue of one Kara Palmer, a professional cosplayer and model living a secret life as New York City's very own superhero: Sol. In a laundromat over in Chinatown, the girl was dressed in a rather casual outfit as she leaned back on a washer, holding tightly onto her costume as she scrubbed to try to get the worst of the blood off her white cape. While most superheroes wouldn't likely take the chance of having their costume in public, Kara did have a luxury most of them couldn't afford. That being that as a cosplay model, she had a perfect cover-up for having the costume on hand. She was simply washing it before she had another photoshoot, she would explain to others who asked her about it and if they still seemed to be at doubt she simply showed them her Instagram page. That usually quieted down most people who were seemingly going along the lines of thinking that perhaps they had discovered Sol's secret identity. Thankfully, she really didn't have to explain that to most of the people in this laundromat. It was mostly an empty place, with only three or four others using the place to clean their clothes. Though the girl didn't really need to be here to do her laundry, unlike most of the patrons here, as she had her own working washer and dryer in her apartment. No, she was instead using the day of laundry to double as intelligence gathering. As she had heard rumors that the Triad used this particular establishment to launder their money (clever, laundromat to launder money!), and decided to kill two birds with one stone. While all the action took place in the back of the building, Kara was fortunate enough to have super hearing and x-ray vision at her disposal. So as she was scrubbing away the blood from the idiot store robber who tried to take a swing at her earlier, the girl was also listening intently to the Triad in the back of the building.

Oh, the secrets she was learning about safehouses and members of the Triad. It almost brought a little smile to the pink-haired girl's lips as she thought about how they had no clue they were telling everything to a superhero. Yet she suppressed the urge as she made mental notes of everything they talked about in the back. With the information that she was hearing, the girl was confident that she would be able to push the Triad out of her city. At least, she would be bringing peace to the streets with them out of the way. As she was thinking about this, Kara was suddenly aware of somebody addressing her. Looking over to her left, an old chinese woman with a cane had made her way over and was pointing towards Kara's costume. Asking out the bloodstain that she was trying to scrub out, to which the woman got an awkward laugh by way of response from Kara. "Oh, no ma'am. My cat had nixed me while I was working on the cape and she wanted to play, so I'm just trying to get the blood out. I think I almost got it though, apologies if seeing it bothered you at all." She said with a friendly little smile as the woman didn't look overly convinced by the girl's explanation of things. However, the woman seemed to shrug it off as if it wasn't all that much of an issue. Instead of heading back to the counter she had been sitting behind before, the woman stayed by Kara's side and struck up a pleasant little conversation. Which, admittedly, Kara wasn't overly happy about as it took her attention away from listening to the Triad, but still it was important to not seem rude. So she chatted with this sweet old woman, everything ranging from the store to her grandson who was about her age. Then about how Kara would surely like him, afterall he was such a sweet boy. Although the girl brushed off that part of the conversation since she figured she could end their conversation once the laundry was done, which it almost was, and finish hearing what the Triad had to say before she went home to plan how to take them all out.
Jade Schneider

The girl sat quietly as she contemplated what the oracle had said about the whole not being able to control the prophecy thing. That seemed to be a little bit odd that you could really dictate when your own abilities suddenly activated. That would be super inconvenient in most circumstances! She certainly couldn't imagine how it would be if she went around her daily life then was suddenly casting magic all over the place. Gods. She could already hear about the expulsion and jail time she would get if she accidentally threw a fireball in the middle of history class, no matter how boring the teacher was when he spoke. Still, the ability to see the future seemed a tad bit less explosive and dangerous than throwing fireballs at your history teacher. So she supposed that having something like that come whenever it decided to do so wouldn't be really all that bad. Unless it was spoiling the ending to some TV show or another, then that would be just plain shitty of those abilities.

"So like, do you suddenly just start calling out the answers to your math test you're taking in school?" Jade blurted out suddenly towards Rosie, as her mind was still occupied with its previous line of thought. "Or do you have, like, the cliffhanger ending to whatever show you're watching suddenly implanted in your brain!?" She said, both questions coming out before the girl would really get a chance to answer it. Jade seemed to be a bit excited by the idea of being able to see into the future, if her reactions and questions were anything for one to judge by. "I can't imagine blurting out spoilers would make people terribly happy to watch shows or movies with you! Oh dear, that must just be outright awful to deal with!" She said, before realizing she had made a massive assumption about the girl's abilities, and her cheeks colored deeply. "Uhhhh, that is... if that is what happens with you. It totally could be like, not what happens as well! I don't know these things!" She said quickly, trying to backpedal on her assumptions about Rosie.
