Sorry for the sudden absence. I've had some computer trouble the past couple days, computer randomly shut off and wouldn't come back on, but it seems to be ok now.
I'll post something today. In fact I'll start writing it now.
Both sides are being played by Sat. If you want the duel to advance, we could do that. We wanted to give players a chance to react so far before doing anything, since we were expecting some audience reactions, but we can advance it if you've too little to work off of.
Since it's the Water dorm teacher duelling a former student I'll have plenty to react to. I guess I just misunderstood your post about how it was going to be rigid for 2-3 posts then you were going to open things up; I thought you wanted to get 2-3 posts of the duel out before the rest of us posted.
Well, the new cards are very dark-centered, so it makes sense I guess lol. It's going to be very strong for a structure deck, probably on-par if not better than the Dinosaur one. (Which wrecked the TCG for awhile) with a few meta adjustments.
I haven't played Yu-Gi-Oh or even followed it for a couple years now; I stopped back when the first Kozmo cards were first being released. I don't know what the current meta looks like but the Lair of Darkness deck does look interesting and very strong. A field spell that makes it so that you can tribute your opponents monsters, something that nothing really has a defense against except this decks boss monster, for their own effects is crazy.
Plus, if I am reading the effects right, the fact that you can tribute a dark monster you control to search the boss dragon, then immediately summon that dragon because you tributed a dark monster this turn, because the boss does not have to have been in your hand when the tribute was made to be able to activate the self summon effect.
I can see the field card being limited if this deck does well and maybe the search monster as well.
You're thinking of Grinning Grave Virus, which'll come out in Lair of Darkness on April 20th in the TCG.
That's the one. I don't know why, but I was thinking that was a Darklord deck; I don't think the new cards are actually part of an archetype though, they just all work well together.
Appearance While slightly above average height at 5’ 4” Kanna is still the shortest of the Top 5 in her dorm; paired with her slight frame, with thin shoulders, a narrow waist and a small bust, at first glance she doesn’t appear to be very imposing, though it would be a mistake to underestimate her.
Kanna keeps her black hair tied back in a ponytail with a long triangular fringe swept to one side of her face, the tip of which can just brush her cheekbones. She has a pretty face, narrow with a thin nose and slightly pouty lips; her eyes are a dark, chocolaty brown that contain a fire that belies her unassuming looks.
She rigidly adheres to the school’s uniform standards and expects the same of her dorm mates, though she has had little success at encouraging this except with Touma.
Personality Kanna takes things seriously; whether it’s her studies, her duelling or her self-inflicted status as her dorms leader she approaches it with the same strong will and driven nature that propelled her to the top of her dorms rankings. Most of Kanna’s life at Harmonia United is spent in a state of constantly trying to improve, through deck building and testing, studying or theory crafting.
All of this means that Kanna is somewhat highly strung and at times finds herself a little stressed out; her ambition to be the best encourages her to work herself too hard while her competitive nature then pushes her to prove that her efforts have paid off against others. She has a hard time letting things go and just relaxing, which is why it is important that she has people in her dorm who will force her to take a break every now and then.
Her dorm is both a source of pride and ire for Kanna. As the top ranked duellist she sees herself as their leader and tries to be a strong example for them as well as someone that they feel they can rely on, while also encouraging them to improve as duellists. However, while she gets along with most of them and there is not a single person she would say she dislikes, their various quirks, hang-ups and in a few cases complete unwillingness to take things seriously mean that she is often at her wits end when dealing with them.

History Kanna is the only child of a pro duellist and a nurse. Growing up she didn’t see her father a lot growing up as he was often on the road, travelling to various duelling tournaments around the world. Even so she had a good relationship with her father and was always happy whenever she got to see him; she was very proud to have a famous duellist for a father and would always try to watch his matches on TV.
Hajime Hayashi is an Atlantean/Mermail player and when it came time for Kanna to make her own deck she made a pure Atlantean deck to try and emulate him. She wasn’t a very good duellist at first and had trouble getting used to the way the deck played but with some advice from her father and constant practise on her part she improved over time.
Becoming a pro-duellist was always Kanna’s goal as could be expected. She enrolled herself at Harmonia United for its reputation as one of the best academies and was accepted after passing both the written and duelling exams, the first with flying colours and the latter with an above average but not exceptional performance.
For her first year at the academy she continued to use her Atlantean deck only to quickly find that her skills with the deck were not good enough to earn her a place in the higher ranks. While she slowly managed to crawl up the ranking through her hard work and earn herself a reputation as someone not to take lightly, the amount of work required to improve was large disproportionate to the gains she was making. She stubbornly wanted to keep using the deck she had made to honour her father but despite her efforts she began to see a limit to what she could do with her current deck alone.
Half way through her second year she finally made the call to switch to a new deck and chose Nekroz for its apparent versatility and the fact that it was still at least a Water attribute deck. With this new deck it was like a weight had been lifted from her shoulders and she saw massive improvements to her duelling that rocketed her to the top of her dorms rankings.

-Description- Asahi is a strong believer in the idea that a healthy mind leads to a healthy life and as such spends a lot of his time in meditation and quiet contemplation. He is a calm individual with seemingly infinite patience; he is slow to anger but he does not mince his words if he thinks poorly of someone and is capable of delivering some truly devastating criticisms, as Touma can attest. Due to how quiet he can be Asahi is somewhat hard to engage with and most people assume he prefers to be left alone and as such he gets a lot of time to himself; Asahi seems to have no complaints about this arrangement, but then he probably wouldn’t say anything if he did.
His duelling style often takes people by surprise with Asahi utilising a rapid paced and overwhelmingly aggressive deck and play style in contrast to his personality and from day one it was clear that Asahi was a strong duellist. He performed better than anyone in the entrance duelling exam and was near the top in the written exam as well. He spent most of his first and second years near the top of the rankings, mostly from defeating challengers who wanted to try and defeat the duellist with the reputation for being the strongest in the dorm; a reputation that only grew as the number of his wins increased.
Surprisingly, he and Kanna have never actually duelled. Asahi very rarely challenges another duellist himself and instead has accumulated most of his wins by being challenged by others, meaning that his ascent through the ranks was rather slow. Kanna has never challenged him either, at first because she didn’t think she could win and later because she found herself above Asahi in the rankings, due to Kanna being more proactive in challenging others and gaining points, and it made no sense to do so. Kanna made it into the Top 5 first, beating both Keita and Touma to rise to the top, with Asahi eventually earning enough points to do the same; once he had acquired the 6th rank in the dorm Asahi issued surprise challenges to the then 5th ranked duellist, Keita and then Touma to rise to second place, but for some reason stopped short of challenging Kanna.
Asahi currently has no intention of duelling Kanna as he sees her as the better representative of the Water dorm, though he wishes she would focus more on strengthening her mind and less on her deck, and has no desire to take her spot; if asked who he thinks would win if they did duel, he is uncharacteristically evasive in giving an answer.
Currently Asahi spends most of his time facing challenges from the dorms 3rd best duellist Touma, as well as challengers from other dorms.
Appearance: At 5’ 8” Asahi is of roughly average height and a thin but toned build means he is neither overweight nor too skinny. His swept back, pale blonde hair contrasts with his lightly tanned skin, which he acquired by frequently meditating outside. Green eyes stare out of a placid face, with a slight analytical edge to them, giving the impression that there is more going on beneath the surface than you would expect from his calm exterior.
Asahi prefers to wear lose fitting clothing and as such his uniform is a size too big, though well maintained enough as to not look dishevelled.

-Description- Probably the most driven duellist in the dorm, though Kanna could give him a run for his money, Touma is incredibly competitive when it comes to duelling and has a strong desire to prove himself the best; even if his current ranking has put a bit of a damper on his spirits.
He has a fierce, though somewhat one-sided rivalry with the Water dorm’s 2nd ranked duelling Asahi, with the Lightsworn player acting as an immovable barrier preventing Touma from moving up the ranks. This is nothing new as Touma challenged Asahi many times in their first and second years, along with many other duellists, wanting to finally be the one to take him down. Though he made it to the Top 5 first it was no surprise to him when he eventually found himself one place behind Asahi in the rankings at the start of their third year.
In his spare time Touma likes to swim as exercise and probably makes use of the dorms amenities more than anyone in the Top 5 but Jasmine. Since he is not able to beat Asahi and is unable to challenge Kanna at all Touma likes to challenge the other dorms whenever he can; he and Kanna are probably the main driving force behind the Water dorm’s current standing in the ranking, though Asahi contributes a lot from defeating challengers as well.
Aside from Asahi, Touma has a good relationship with the other Top 5 duellists; especially Kanna being the most similar to her is disposition, though he maybe defers to her a little too much due to her higher ranking.
Appearance: Standing at an even 6’ 0” Touma is not just the tallest student in the Top 5 but also one of the tallest in the entire Water dorm. His slightly muscular frame that he has built up through plentiful use of his dorm’s swimming pool also adds to this to give him a more imposing appearance.
Touma’s black hair is short but spiky and his brown eyes look out from under a heavy brow and thick eyebrows that give him the appearance of constantly frowning. Though he prefers to dress casually Touma makes a serious attempt to keep his uniform maintained, though he finds he struggles to keep to the standard set by his dorm’s champion Kanna.

-Description- An American transfer student from Seattle, Washington, Jasmine is by far the most outgoing member of the Water dorm’s Top 5 duellists. An exceedingly bubbly and friendly person there is probably no other duellist in her dorm who is as universally liked as Jasmine; she gets along well with everyone, even Asahi cracks a smile around her occasionally, and is particularly good friends with Kanna, who Jasmine latched onto day one as a fellow strong female duellist.
Jasmine is fairly new to the school, only transferring in towards the end of her second year, but quickly made herself known as a strong duellist and found her way into the Top 5. Even so Jasmine duels mostly for fun and though she has ambitions to become a pro duellist she is not very competitive and takes any losses in her stride. This is especially evident in the way she constantly encourages Keita to challenge her, pestering him to do so even if it results in her loss and her moving down a rank.
This mentality sometimes leads her to not taking duels as seriously as she should and she has lost many times because of this, something that is occasionally a source of ire for her dorm mates when it causes her to lose against another dorm.
Like Touma she takes great advantage of her dorms swimming facilities in her spare time, but uses the pools for fun rather than as a workout.
Appearance: Jasmine is quite tall for a girl, being as she is 5’ 8”, and has a figure which is much curvier and well-endowed compared to the slighter Kanna. Her long blonde hair falls down her back in waves, reaching to the small of her back and her vibrant blue eyes shine out of a face that is all smiles and dimpled cheeks.
While generally quite good at keeping her uniform in good order, Jasmine likes to add a personal touch to things and has embroidered floral patterns into the cuffs and lapels of her uniform jacket that probably go against the school’s uniform regulations.

-Description- Most people are surprised to find out that Keita is one of the top duellists in his dorm as at first glance he appears to be absent minded and easily distractible and to be fair to those people, that’s exactly what Keita is. He almost didn’t make it into the academy due to his poor written test results, despite doing very well in the duelling exam and ever since then his grades have fluctuated from above average to barely passing. It’s not that he doesn’t know the material, he simply isn’t academically minded and zones out during classes and exams.
It is only when duelling or deck building that Keita really comes into his own; a strange kind of focus almost like a trance coming over him that allows him to show what he’s really made of. Keita is simply naturally gifted as a duellist.
He was the last person to join the current Top 5 rankings but even though he is in the most precarious position and having many challengers he has not left the Top 5 since. Despite his talent however he has yet to challenge the 4th ranked Jasmine even once for her position; although he wants to be a pro duellist, as it is the only thing that he is passionate about, he doesn’t see a reason to go higher than 5th since that is all he needs to do to go pro.
Appearance: Keita is shorter than anyone but Kanna in the Top 5, being only 5’ 6”, and is smaller too due to his skinny frame. His shoulder length red hair is messy and unkempt, hanging down over his face and into his eyes so he constantly has to brush it aside. His emerald green eyes often have a vacant, blank look to them as he stares off into space, lost in some random thought; however they take on a surprising sharpness when he is duelling.
Not surprisingly Keita’s uniform is an absolute mess, often wrinkled and dishevelled to match the rest of his appearance.

I've made the changes to the characters that you asked for, to explain how Jasmine and Kanna got into the Top 5 in time for their third year. I've also tweaking Asahi's backstory a bit to hopefully better explain his ranking and how he and Kanna have never duelled before; I'm sold on the idea of them never having had a match before so I'd really like to make that work if possible.
