Samantha is a wandering soul, never comfortable staying in one place and always wanting to see what is over the horizon. It is unfortunate then, that she found herself living in a small town a day’s walk from anywhere not covered in snow.
A high-spirited girl with an irrepressible cheer, Samantha has a sense of adventure and a desire to explore that often got her into trouble as a young girl. Nevertheless she is friendly and possessed of a kind of carefree natural charm that made it easy for her to make friends growing up.

Samantha grew up as an only child in the coldest place she can imagine. It wasn’t all bad, Snowpoint City is a beautiful place surrounded by natural splendour, most of which is inaccessible to a child, but there just isn’t much to do there. The only points of interest are the Gym, the Temple and the nearby lake and while this may be enough for a tourist, when you are a local there is only so many times you can visit these places before you get bored.
Although Samantha loves her hometown she has also always wanted to leave; specifically she has always wanted to be a Pokémon trainer. Lots of trainers passed through Snowpoint city to challenge the Gym leader, so many that they made up probably 70% of the travellers who came through there, and Samantha would spend a lot of time in the gym so that she could watch the battle and also so she could hear their stories.
The thing about trainers is that they usually like to tell tall tales about their adventures, exaggerated or not, to the point that everyone around them gets bored of hearing them. But Samantha was never bored. She would listen to the stories of any trainer who was willing to tell them and would always try to imagine the places they described and remember to look them up later. The wandering, vagabond life of a trainer has always seemed like the perfect existence to her, and when she got the chance to enter her name into the lottery for the Ol’ Trainer Project in Kanto that’s exactly what she did, every time she could, until she was eventually chosen.

Though she has been audience a several battles in the Snowpoint Gym over the years, Samantha has no first hand battling experience nor did her family keep any Pokémon as she was growing up. The journey she is about to set out on will be the first time she has tried to train or battle a Pokémon.

Samantha’s reason for leaving home is simple; she wants to see as much of the world as she can and becoming a Pokémon trainer is the path that will let her do that. This doesn’t mean that she isn’t going to take being a trainer seriously or that she won’t give it her best, she is just more interested in the paths that being a successful trainer will open for her than she is about badges or titles.
