Andy nodded. She had a lot to think about suddenly. College? A place for demi-gods other than camp, that was safe? "I'm gonna go to the cargo hold." She told Arthur, torn over if she wanted him to join her or to leave her alone. Then made her way down to where the Gryphon was.

She smiled at the Gryphon as she came down pulling another fish for him and offering it to him. He took the fish and ate it then nuzzled her. It was nice. She hadn't expected that. "Hi there Mr. Gryphon." She rubbed his head.

Did she want to grow up and go to a school? She hadn't gone to school in so long. Was it a future that worked for her? "You don't have to plan for the future do you?"

Emily couldn't help but wince. She had made things worse she feared. But they had to do something. They had to try. She hugged Marco tightly. It was reassuring. She handed over her weapons to Terminus. "We should..." She started to say. How was she going to be able to fix this?

Niah looked up at the Iris message coming from the Greeks. She pinched the bridge of her nose. And held her weapon over to Terminus, letting him take it. She felt bad about having the weapon here in New Rome, but the situation was extenuating. "Thank you for the heads up." She told the Greeks. At least with them coming there would be extra swords.

Oh goodie, the Greeks were coming. Had she missed that memo? Or was just super distracted? She had no idea. "Marco, let's go. We should let the Senate do its thing." She started backing out of the room. A part of her wanted to go and find Madalyne, but Waves had run off after her. She didn't think she'd be helping that situation showing up. Waverly should be trying to forge her own friendships.

"Can we get this session ended and get moving then? We don't know how long we have until the Titans get here." Niah said. She had things to get moving with her cohort. Something was going to have to give with how piled on she felt at the moment.

Rose smiled at Layla's joke. She didn't want to say anything in response since they were sneaking. Rose didn't want to draw unnecessary attention to them. She was nervous and caught whiffs of smoke through the stench of the sewers. Rose did not want to think about disease while walking through that muck but there was going Wednesday Adams asking horrific questions.

When Cass asked if she was excited to meet her mom she nodded. "I am. I wonder what she is like." She whispered as quietly as she could manage and hope that Cass would still hear her. Rose was excited to meet her mom but more concerned at the moment of getting to that point. She didn't want to think about anything after meeting her. Too much was between her and that.

Colby threw his hands up giving up. No one was agreeing on anything. Some said the fire was a terrible idea. So he had tried coming up with a better idea. And people were just shooting it down. And then Gretal said the fire plan was fine. He sighed. This was annoying. "It is fine." He said to Maddy. Irritation was in his voice, but it wasn't directed at Maddy.

He took a deep breath. "Seriously, it is fine. We'll figure something else out." But by the time he said that the fire was already started. He put his face into his hands. Mumbling into them. Well, it didn't matter now. He moved into the stables and started letting the animals out.

Niah felt very heavy. Her whole body was weighed down. Slowly she started to be able to move. Oliver, she heard his voice. She opened her eyes. "Hey. You're here. Why?" She asked, her voice a little muddled. Shouldn't he be with his mother? Had something else happened?

She didn't recognize the other person. Her mouth felt dry. Everything was so heavy. She had more questions. It was just really hard to put those into coherent thoughts at the moment. "Everything ok?" She finally settled on. What all had happened? How much of what she remembered was a horrible nightmare and how much was real?

Matt winced at the mention that Niah was hurt. Sure he didn't particularly care for her, but she was hurt. He gave Cass a reassuring smile. "I'm sure she'll pull through whatever it is." He said. When she asked how she looked he resisted winking at her, instead, he let his smile change from the reassuring one to one of gentle love. "I think you look beautiful."

He looked over as Kwassi called out asking about some program named P.H.I.L. Kwassi was curled up on the floor of the jet. That was confusing. "What are you doing? I don't know about any P.H.I.L." He glanced at Cass, wishing Sparky was with them. She'd probably have an idea of what Kwassi was talking about.

Ed wanted to say something to ease the relationship between Iris and Mira. He had a feeling there was nothing he could do to make it better though. Iris and Mira needed the get-along-shirt or something. He sighed, ready for an attack, probably from the air. His eyes had gone back up to the top of the Statue of Liberty.

Ed had been prepared for anything...well not anything because he hadn't been prepared for a jack-in-the-box to explode. His ears were ringing and he was on the ground. If he had just been a bit faster. Planned a bit better. He berated himself as he sat up. Iris was saying something. He couldn't make out the words though.

He could however hear Guin. He frowned. He hated it. Hated hearing someone that wasn't him in his head. But now was not the time to be mad at her. They needed to get people off the island. He saw that Bethany was there and gave her a thumbs up. He didn't even hear what she was saying, since he couldn't hear anything but loud ringing in his ears.

"Bethany, get these people out of here." He found his tiny shield and started creating shield shovels and pushing people toward Pietro and her. He couldn't get them off the island but he could get them farther from danger.

Veil asked what their mutant names were. She had never given it thought. Besides her name was already fake. She didn't know her real name.

A memory of her adoptive father, Jamie, telling her after a fight she won, that she was his champion. A smile tickled the edges of her lips. And she tried to think of a good word to pair with it. Andy looked at her hands, small sparks flickering between her fingers.

"Call me Thundering Champion." It wasn't the best name, but she liked it well enough still. It had a piece of Jamie in it. Every time she heard it she would also hear the pride in his voice. She hadn't been given a task, 'new girl' hadn't been plural. Did that mean that Veil had another plan for her, or was putting her with Glimpse and Stareyes? She twiddled her thumbs sitting in the back seat. Should she just ask. "Uh, Veil. Where do you want me?"

Ed let out a small sigh of relief when Mira offered for him to officially join her and Iris. He nodded. "I'll happily join you two." He let himself be tugged along. He frowned a bit at the joke that Iris made not getting it. Though he did know about Harry Potter and Jk Rowling he had never read the series.

He was scanning where Iris pointed though. His hand still touching the shield in his pocket ready to do what he could to protect people. That's what he believed in and trusted his ability to do just that. His mind was racing over possibilities. How much could he adjust his shield to do what was necessary? He had proven it could become a flat board to walk on out of the quicksand. He had even made the shield a soft landing for Iris when she fell.

His eyes darted as he looked around trying to figure out what was going on. Where was Loki? What dramatic tricks did he have planned?

Rose let herself get pulled away by Cass. She'd just have to trust that the other group did their job. She squeezed Cass's hand. When she climbed down into the sewer she gagged a bit before gathering her wits. "Holy crow this is nasty." She said. They had a long way to go. She remembered the scene from Shawshank Redemption and smiled briefly to herself.

She pulled her top up to cover her nose and checked that her gear was out of the muck. Well, at least she'd smell like she'd belong here. As soon as she could she was looking forward to a hot shower. And then maybe a long bath. She wasn't usually one for self-indulgences, but it would be a nice reward for walking through literal shit for thirty minutes. She had committed the map of the sewers to memory as best as she could, but she'd rather have Hansel be in charge of leading.

The cats were safe in their room. Colby waited for Gretel's direction. He really felt like his idea had been twisted. He had literally been thinking like a hay cart or something. If Assains creed taught him anything medieval towns had tons of those around. He stood there waiting for everyone to join his arms crossed. When Matthew joined he relaxed a little.

"What can you do with that book? Like how much can you control fire, or make an illusion of it?" Colby wished he had spent some time looking at the book. He was into magic too, he just hadn't had a chance to look at the book. What was he capable of? Could he cast magic? He knew a bit about the Chiseire cat but Merlin still hadn't told them if they gained any abilities from their linage. How were they supposed to be an effective group if they didn't know what they were capable of?

Andy was considering heading down to check on the Gryphon when Arthur asked about adult demi-gods. She hadn't given it any thought. Growing up hadn't ever seemed to be in her cards. Ever since she had run away from the foster system each day was a struggle. Each day was basically another day of fighting and had been for several years. She waited for the answer.

"It was never this constant when I lived alone, to be honest." She says to Arthur. Sure she had her fights against monsters but in the two years she had been on the road it was less than a dozen. She wondered if the concentration of demi-gods had something to do with how much they were dealing with.

Em hugged Marco back, sensing he was upset. She saw Mads face and had a sinking feeling in her stomach. Her brain went for a terrible joke, which she whispered to Marco. "Feed her belladonna, roll a d20 make a fort save." He was the only one who knew how much she liked playing role-playing games so she kept her voice as quiet as possible so only he could hear. Then in a louder voice asking the senate in general. "Do we have any wolfsbane around? It works on weakening werewolves, it might keep..." She trailed off.

Niah having taken her seat, trying to look calm and collected. It was a lie though. She returned her invisible sword to its scabbard on her back. She was the only one not in summoned armor. She would have to keep it on for now. At least it seemed like everyone's summoned stuff was still there despite Mads putting so much into making the portal.

Em realized she still held her sword and held it up to her necklace, it phased down and became a charm. She also still had the scorpion tail on her hip in the summoned scabbard. If she didn't think she should be there for Marco having to explain everything to the Senate. Why had Nancy asked him to do it? Niah was right there for everything too. "We should do that as soon as possible. The next full moon is July fifth." They had a ticking time bomb with Mads on top of the Titans. Not to mention belladonna, or wolfsbane, could be deadly to humans. Mads could die from the cure, but would it be better to be dead and not a werewolf?

Niah looked over at Nancy watching her for clues about what her friend was seeing. She didn't know what was drawn or what Nancy saw in her vision but she knew the appearance of Nancy having one, and by the look on her face whatever it was it had been awful. "We don't have a whole lot of time. The Titans are planning an attack on the camp. They want to take Termainus and force him to take Atlas' burden. We have the Greeks coming. And now..." She trailed off looking at Mads worried. Taking care of Mads and making sure she was okay was first in Niah's heart. The camp could take care of itself. "What precautions have been taken since we were gone? Any defense plan in place?" The military commander that had been trained into Niah took over. They would have to multitask taking care of Mads and protecting New Rome.

Niah found herself sitting in her childhood bedroom. It had been the room she had shared with her sister most of her life. She looked around at all the things that had been who she was. The little girls who had slept in this room had been through so much. Changed so much. She turned and saw the small desk she had used to do homework at. Unexpectedly she was sitting at it, not child her, but adult her.

”Uh. Hello?” The other version of herself looked up and smiled

“Ah. You’re here. Finally. I’ve been trying to talk to you for a while. I suppose getting heavily drugged will make it so you can talk to your subconscious.” Niah blinked surprised at hearing her own voice.

”What?”

“Come on Niah you’re smarter than this. You’ve seen a lot. Done a lot. Where has your head been lately? You were paranoid about things that weren’t a threat and now the things that are a threat are knocking at your door and you got yourself hurt. You could have avoided this. You’re better than that and you know it.”

”A lot has been going on.” Niah said defensively. ”Which I’m sure you’re aware of. I’ve had a lot on my mind other than dealing with some vague threat.”

“Rich coming from someone who probably would be the only reliable person to tell who is a Skrull or not. You have to pull yourself together. Stop focusing on the past. That’s what the whole bear situation was about. Your self-doubt made you afraid of doing the wrong thing. And the bear fed on your fear. You almost got yourself killed.”

”I noticed. I was worried I was going to die anyway.”

“Good thing you were in a hospital. Also, you’ll be different now.”

”Different?” The double stood and tapped Niah’s chest.

“Here. You have a lot of scars here, but you are healing. You can heal. You have to want to heal though. I have something for you.” The double’s hand went up to Niah’s forehead. “A dozen years of memories of a happy life. You have so many lives in your memory, don’t you? Two whole worlds and now I’ll give you the memories of the world you created.” A cool chill went through Niah from the point where her double’s hand touched all through herself. “And a warning. Don’t trust yourself. You’re kind of a dick.”

”What?”

“You’ll figure it out.”

”You mean in another world. Like from where Dalisy had been?”

“See you are smart. It is there, you can figure it out.”

”Well, you’re kind of a jerk.”

“You’re too worried about keeping the facade up. That’s why you’re the ego. Keeping things from going mad. You do a good job of keeping it all in check too. You were always trying too hard. Tried to be friends with Tinley before she got the stick out of her ass. When you were finally close with her she forgot and then she died. So you became scared and hurt. Everyone you had gotten close to had died horribly. You let it tear into your heart. You can’t save everyone. You can’t protect everyone and yet you still keep trying. I know that as soon as you get to the point where you are good in the field again you’re gonna go at it again. Just keep trying to save the world. You’re like Atlas, instead of the sky, you carry the world. You could have stayed, but you knew it was wrong so you fought and that’s all you do. Fight what you believe is wrong. Stand against injustices that you have no control over, demanding that control. Even when you step back you are cursed and something bad happens. That’s what you believe isn’t it?”

Chills went down Niah’s spine. This double knew more about how her mind worked than she did. The Id. That’s who she was talking to. Her own subconscious. Not the superego, but the Id. She took a deep breath, one she realized might be unnecessary but completely reflex at this point.

”You seem to know an awful lot.”

“That’s because I see and know everything you do, but have time to think it over. You already know what I am.”

”What am I supposed to do with this information? Why did you give me memories of the re-written world? Why tell me anything? Why now?”

“Now, because you’re really unconscious and will probably handwave it as a wild hallucination brought on by the anesthesia. What you do with the information is up to and why is because you needed it. Next time you see your parents they are going to talk about stories you need to know. Also, it makes you the only person on the planet with three sets of memories all belonging to you.”

Niah sighed. Her double wasn’t being very helpful, but she could at least work with it. ”Alright. Now, what then?”

“You wake up.”

"Nice first impression." Matt said shaking his head at Kwassi and then followed Bonnie and Cass toward medical. He didn't step in, but was standing nearby. He didn't want to crowd the area but wanted to be near Cass and make sure she was okay. "Was that Niah and Oliver getting back to you? Are they okay?" He didn't like how long it had been since either group had checked in. They had no idea what Sparky was up to.

"Bonnie if I can help with anything let me know." He didn't have much medical knowledge, but he could get things for Bonnie if she needed anything grabbed. Too bad his paralytic power didn't work on Folly, if it did he could keep her still while Bonnie reattached her arm. A ghost of a smile crossed his features as he thought about how ridiculous this whole situation actually was.

Andy felt her face flush. There wasn't any way that Veil could have known she had thought that what they were dealing with was the cure for M-pox, but with Veil clarifying what was going on it made more sense. The White House wouldn't have any reason to have the M-pox cure sent to them if there weren't any mutants on staff. She hid her embarrassment by looking out the window.

"Just tell me who to punch." She offered. Andy wasn't going to be great at anything except punching stuff. Be those people or things, though she was better at punching people. This was her first 'mission' actually. Everything in her life before that was just surviving and getting by. She had never been proactively involved in a situation, especially anything like what she had so far experienced with the Mutant Underground.
