She had to get out of here. Had to escape. But could one escape hell? We get what we deserve. She thought. She took a deep breath, it burned and caused her to cough. This all felt so real. It couldn't be a dream. She opened the door that she knew would lead to where the Purifiers were.
"We know what you are." A voice said. Her stomach twisted. "You've been hiding here and we don't want your kind here."
"Purifiers." Ash hissed between her teeth. Andy's eyes went wide, her stomach twisting more than it already had. The men's attention was on Ash. "Run Andy," Jamie said and pushed Andy past them. One of the Purifiers grabbed her by the arm and twisted it behind her back.
"Not so quick, kiddo, are you a muttie?" The man asked, his voice was harsh. Andy shook her head.
"She works here. We rent the room in the basement to her." Jamie said. The Purifier didn't let Andy go. "She's not part of this. Let her go." Jamie was trying his best, fear crossed his features. Andy struggled against the Purifier's grip but couldn't escape.
"Kill the woman. She's the mutant we came for." The man who held Andy said. One of the other men shoved Ash back into the burning building. Jamie tried to fight back, but he was ineffective, and both were gone, pushed into the building. Andy screamed and struggled again, almost breaking free. "Make sure they stay inside till they're dead."
Andy could hear them screaming. Ash was trying to put some of the fire out with her water power, but the building was already too far gone. Their voices and screams ended.
"NO!" Andy yelled. She lashed out with her electrokinesis, but the man seemed unphased. However, she was able to break free of his grip finally. Andy threw a right hook and overestimated missing the man completely. He grabbed at her arm and caught it, but Andy pulled free quickly.
She knew better, this was playing out exactly as it had before. Changing it seemed impossible though. Andy spun around going through the door back into the gym. That was suicide and she knew it, but it was different. Instead of the heat of the fire and the gym burning down around her she was back on the field near Akademos. She was on the ground and in a whole lot of pain.
Something horrifying was happening with the people attacking them. One of them was fall apart in front of them.
"She didn't do that." Andy yelled at Cadena. She didn't dare reach out and try to touch her again though. Somehow she had survived and Andy wasn't going to repeat that mistake. She'd have to find another way to fight.
