Bio

I am experienced roleplayer returning to online roleplay after 10+ year break. I have missed roleplaying and the creative outlet it is for me. I am interested in casual roleplay. I consider myself a decent writer and I will put effort into my writing. I am not into writing a novel for one post though. Descriptive, character building, engaging, yes. I will always write at least 2 paragraphs unless it is a quick fire session revolving around dialogue over private messages. I am a fairly laid back person and don't want to be a grammar nazi. I believe in quality over quantity. Roleplaying is a hobby and a escape from real life pressures.

Genres I am interested in:
Fantasy
Middle Ages
Science Fiction
Vampires
Shapeshifters
Crime Drama

Fandoms I am interested in:
Pokemon
Harry Potter
Anita Blake
Dragonriders of Pern
Star Wars

I don't mind roleplaying romance but I am not looking for smut. It has to make sense for the roleplay. I am okay with a fade to black moment instead of roleplaying it out. For me its about the story and the character. I am open to roleplaying it out.

I am in the Pacific Standard Timezone. I work full time and will be seen in the evenings and weekends online.

Fiona Flamebeard: House on Fire

@Chris488

Fiona stroked her beard absentmindedly as she listened to the woman’s reply. She roared with laughter as she heard her reply. "I do not drink. The results would be ruinous here." Fiona thought that was one of the funniest things she had ever heard. Drinking could certainly lead one down a disastrous path but it was a self-imposed one. Once she managed to contain herself to the odd chuckle or two she finally responded. “Drinking can lead to tragic or disastrous consequences anywhere. There are of course locations where drinking would be more ill-advised than in a tavern.” She grinned and couldn’t contain her amusement.

Fiona carefully climbed back over the bar. She dropped back to the other side losing her footing. “Opps!” She laughed as she landed on her bottom on the floor instead of her feet. She tilted precariously to one side as she attempted to climb back onto her barstool. She finally made it back onto her stool. She pulled the dusty black bottle towards her. She uncorked the bottle and took a deep swig. She grimaced at the flavor. The strong liquor felt like acid going down her throat. Blech! That is horrible! I don’t think I have ever tasted a libation quite so foul.” Her tongue felt fuzzy after that drink. She re-corked the bottle with a sigh.

Fiona found the woman very strange. She had met a lot of interesting people in her travels. This woman was by far one of her strangest encounters. She topped the old man who treated his goats like his grandkids and tried to put clothes on them. The woman was not insulting or annoying, just very odd compared to Fiona’s norm. Fiona turned to regard the woman who was now a bit blurry. She closed one eye as she looked at her to see if that helped. It didn’t really help any. Her stomach began to churn as that last drink hit bottom. She began to look a little green even as she swayed a little more on her stool. "Do you believe being drunk will show you the way home?"

Fiona shook her head at the stranger’s question. With a soft smile, she replied. “No, getting drunk will not show me the way home. Breanne is a goddess of plenty, the goddess of fertility, and the hearth. Alcohol is made from the grains she blesses to grow. Drinking alcohol in celebration is a way to honor my goddess and thank her for her blessings. I am celebrating that I found a tavern. A place to stop and rest before resuming my travels. The tavern has alcohol so I am raising a glass and imbibing for her.” Fiona shrugged as she really didn’t care if the woman understood or not. She didn’t really understand much about the woman and her people either. She was so tired. She leaned over on to rest her head on her arms on the bar top. “I’m so tired. I think I will take a nap.” She closed her eyes and was soon snoring loudly. Her beard and mustache moved slightly in the breeze caused by her snoring.
Howdy
If I somehow manage to muster the courage and mindset to join, can I be a Fae folk Thief?

I don't see why you couldn't. My goal is to run a small group rp with at least one player filling every role. So no more than 10 players. I don't know how to give you courage or help your mindset though.

If it helps, the way I plan to run this group is to play the mastermind. I will present the problem we have to deal with and who the client is. Give you the basic run down and problem and then turn it over to the team of players to figure out how we are going to help that client. Everyone will have a week to post. If someone doesn't post during that week, they will be skipped or I will write a plausible reason they have been skipped so that play can continue. It will always be done in a respectful manner so that they can jump back in when ready.
Nice posts so far people :) I've started brainstorming the next scenario out (I know, this RP moves fast!)

Due to the intensity of it, would people prefer after we wrap this up mission up (probably around my post that follows after my next one) and give a bit more time for R&R in Kaitiaki for the team to bond a bit more, or straight into another mission that is a bit of the opposite to this? (don't want to spoil it but it's a slow burning, Bond-esque social occasion for the team!)

I will agree with my two fellow players. I know Sam is going need some time for healing before the next mission. It would be nice to get to know the team a bit more too.
Welcome to the world of Grimmhold

The population lives in cities with only agricultural workers living in rural areas. Cities are densely populated with high rise towers of glass and steel. Condominiums and apartments are the norm. Solar and wind energy has been perfected. The power of the ocean and the tides have been harnessed as a renewable energy source. The rise of technology has polluted the world. There are areas so badly polluted that all life in those areas have mutated into other forms for survival. These areas are called the Badlands. The world is ruled by powerful corporations that have risen from obscurity to rule as an oligarchy. A council of the world’s wealthiest individuals make all the rules. Life is hard for everyone else. The only reason environmental laws were enacted was because it was necessary for the world to survive. Corruption and abuse by large corporations and the wealthy abound.

Technology is prevalent.
Artificial intelligence-Supercomputers are smaller and faster. Personal AI's are expensive but not all that rare.
Cybernetic computer enhancements-Computer hard drives, and computer interface jacks can be implanted directly nto the brain and skull projecting your mind into the virtual world via direct connection.
Cybernetic prosthetics-Artificial limbs and prosthectics are enhanced with modern medicine and computers. Cybernetics are computer controlled cybernetic limbs and prosthectics that are hardwired to be controlled directly by the brain.
Holographic imaging- three dimensional images that can be as detailed as a three dimesional image of a person but typically a slight glitch as it moves will give it away. They are projected from holo emitters. The better quality the holo emitter the better quality the image. The better quality of the emitter the larger the emitter. The best quality emitters are about the size of shoebox.
Transportation-Combustible engines are outlawed and have been replaced with electric and magnetic alternatives. Mass transportation has been embraced. Bullet trains and hovercraft are used for long distance travel. Cities are connected along protected covered tracks.

Magic is also prevalent.
Magic falls into the following categories:
Fire- the ability to call fire and control it, heat objects, heat tolerance.
Water- the ability to call water, breath under water, and control water.
Air- the ability to manipulate air currents, remove it from an area.
Earth- the ability to move and mold earth, and the ability to tell what minerals are in the soil.
Spirit – the ability to manipulate spiritual energy. Spirit energy is chi or life force. Being able to manipulate this energy allows you to heal, talk to spirits (ghosts), and divination skills such as telling the future using magical media such as tarot cards, palm reading, crystal balls, and scrying using mirrors or water. The future is never set in stone and just knowing the future can change the outcome.
You can combine magic from different schools to create new effects. Such as combining air and fire to create lightning.

The world is full of different races that all live and work alongside each other.

Races:
Elves- They have long pointed ears and are typically tall, thin, and willowy in build. They are fast and agile with excellent hand and eye coordination. They have a long-life span with the average elf living to the ripe old age of 500. Elves are known for their artistry which they bring to everything they do. Elves are highly intelligent and known for their lightweight powerful computers. Elves are typically either very pale or black. Black skinned tone elves are known as the Drow and live underground.
Dwarves- Are short, stocky, and strong. They have dense bones and high tensile muscles. They can easily lift twice their body weight. Dwarves are known for mechanical engineering and building things. Dwarves are another long lived race. The average dwarf lives to be 350 years old. Dwarves relish facial hair and yes even their women have beards. Their beards will be groomed and decorated. Dwarves are often mocked for their short stature, yet they are master craftsmen.
Orcs-Are tall, strong, and muscular. Orc skin tones are various shades of green. They have bony tusks that shoot up from their lower jaw. They can be straight or curved and come in different lengths. Orcs often have additional bony spikes in patterns on their head with or without hair. Orcs often have intricate tribal tattoos. Orcs are often seen as stupid brutes but that is not their true potential. The average lifespan of an Orc is 75 years old.
Fae or Fairy- are very similar to humans but their skin tones are a veritable pastel rainbow. Their eyes typically have a thick ring of vibrant color like a second iris around the pupil. This race are natural elemental magic users. Some of them even have wings. The average lifespan of a Fae is 250 years old.
Humans – are the most plentiful race. They come in all the standard sizes and variations we see here now. Humans live to an average age of 100 years old.

Team Roles:
Hacker- You are the computer god. You can make any computer system or software your bitch.
Hitter- You are the muscle and trained fighter. When we need someone who knows how to use a knife, sword, gun, or their fists, the job is yours.
Grifter- You are the ultimate chameleon and con artist. You can talk a nun out of her habit. You can blend in any crowd. You are the best at improvisation. You are a fast thinker and talker.
Thief- You can pick any lock, open any safe, and bypass or confuse any security system. You are agile and fast. You are a master acrobatic and gymnast. You can hide in the smallest shadow.
Jack of all Trades- You have some talent at more than one of those roles but are not the best in those roles. You have an expertise in something that you can combine with one of the skills to make you a valuable member of the team. An example would be a lawyer or an accountant who also knows mixed martial arts. You are a cross-trained member of the team that often plays a valuable support role.
Mastermind- The member of the team that decides what jobs to take and contacts clients. They are responsible for planning out the mission the team will take. I plan to play the mastermind as the GM in order to set up the scenarios and move play along.

Roleplay idea:
The team will be working for the underdog; the everyday common people. The rich and powerful believe nothing can touch them. This team gets justice for the everyday man. They use every means in their power. Some legal, most not. Do you have what it takes to be a modern day Robinhood or one of his merry men. This will be a Safe for Work play. Adult themes may be involved regarding violence and dark crimes. Any sex crimes will not be explicit and fade to black will apply. This roleplay will adhere to site rules. The idea for this roleplay is the series Leverage meets Shadowrun.

We are looking for players that are willing to post once a week or otherwise okay with their character being skipped for that week. We are askig players for at least two paragraphs at least 4 sentences long. We are looking for quality and substance over quanitity. We are looking for characters who will grow in a fun and action packed rp.

Please share your character ideas. Ask questions if you have them.
Jazrina Exits

Jazrina had returned to the party with Daniel and Cait. Daniel said goodbye as he took off for the snacks and drinks. Jazrina was about to ask Cait what her plans were now when her phone rang. She would ignore it, except it was the ringtone she set for her mom. She frowned because she knew her mother knew she was at the Coven House Party tonight. She put a finger in her ear and answered the phone. “Hi Mom. It’s too loud in here. Hold on while I find someplace quieter.” Jaz turned to Cait and yelled to be heard over the music. “I have to take this. It’s my mother.” Jaz started making her way towards the door.

Jazrina carried the phone outside. As the front door shut behind her, she walked towards her car. The further away from the house she got the quieter it got. She was half down the driveway before she brought the phone back to her ear. “Sorry about that mom. They had a DJ playing. What’s Up?”

Jazrina stopped in her tracks. Something was very wrong. “Mom?” She could hear her mother moving around and what sounded like sobs. “Mom! Tell me what’s going on!” Jazrina’s voice got louder. Her mother was openly crying with large jerky deep breaths and hiccups. “Its your father. I got a call from the company he works for.” Her mother sucked in a deep breath and talked fast. It was if she needed to get it out before she wouldn’t be able to talk anymore. Jazrina’s knees were shaking. She felt weak and lightheaded. She knew her father’s job was not always the safest. He was exploring rugged rural backcountry looking for minerals and resources.

Her mother’s voice rose in volume as she spoke. “Your father was caught in a cave-in. They have already pulled him out and he was flown to the nearest trauma center. He is still in surgery and is in critical condition. We must get to him Jaz. I need to be there. I need to know we did all we could for him.” Her mother broke down in ugly crying on the phone. Jaz’s knees gave way. She collapsed in the grass next to the driveway on her knees. It was suddenly hard to breathe. Tears were streaming down her face. Her mother was implying they had told her he wasn’t going to make it. Jaz felt as if her heart was being ripped from her chest.

Jaz knew that as much pain as she was feeling it had to be harder for her mother. That thought helped her climb back to her feet. “I am coming mom. I will be there as soon as I can. Start packing.” Jaz kicked off her heels and ran barefoot to her car. Her hands trembled now that adrenaline was pumping through her system. She struggled to get her keys out of her purse. She finally disabled the alarm and got in. She clicked the seatbelt and finally got the key into the ignition. She was currently blessing her foresight to park where she did. She managed to get out of the crowded driveway. She knew she shouldn’t be driving. She didn’t care. Her only thoughts were how to help her father and to get to his side. She didn’t notice the barrier had fallen. She wouldn’t be able to do anything about it if she did notice. She didn’t have that power.

She made it home in record time. She didn’t remember driving home. She didn’t remember stopping at stop signs or at traffic lights. She didn’t get pulled over by the cops on the way home. She had driven on autopilot. That was a scary realization. She shut down her SUV. She flew into the house shouting for her mother. She hugged her mother. “We will get there mom. Dad only needs to hang on till we get there.” She repeated it like a mantra. She waited till her mom seemed calmer and then held at arm’s length. “Pack a suitcase. Which trauma center did they take him to? Where do we need to go?” Her mother mumbled something about Rio de Janeiro.

Jaz took charge knowing her mother was in shock. Jaz nodded and went upstairs to her room. She pulled out her laptop and booked them the earliest tickets to Rio she could find from Seattle. Seattle was the closest airport. Their flight left in 4 hours. If she drove like a bat out of hell and they left in the next 30 minutes, they should make their flight. She sent Cait a quick text message letting her know what was going on. She didn’t want her thinking she bailed on her. She didn’t have anyone else’s number besides Daniel’s. She texted her mother’s best friend Josephine to come and take care of her animals for her. She began throwing clothes back into the suitcase she had just unpacked hours ago. She changed into comfortable clothes for the flight. She left the grass-stained white dress on the floor in her bathroom. She carried her suitcase down the stairs and loaded it into the back of her SUV. Her mother was calmer now that there was action happening. She had packed her suitcase and made them coffee for the drive.

Jaz drove through the night too wired and pumped up with worry to fall asleep behind the wheel. Their flight out of Seattle was a red-eye leaving at midnight. They had just made it through security when their flight was being called for boarding. Jaz and her mom boarded the plane. They managed to get seats next to one another. The flight was not a sold out one since it was a red-eye. She put her phone on airplane mode and plugged it into charge. She never noticed anything wrong in Tanner as she was so focused on dealing with her personal family drama. She held her mother’s hand as the plane whisked them towards Rio in South America. She hoped her father was still alive when they got there.

Welcome to the board. I hope you find the roleplay you are looking for.
Howdy!

Fiona Flamebeard: House on Fire 3

Fiona tipped the bottle back and drank greedily after finishing her tale. Fiona stroked her long red beard as Anath Homura answered her question about where she was.

"Your laughter is like liquid light, servant of Breanne. Hmm... you have come to the tavern that has a myriad of names, and no names at all. The path to the dwarven lands lies in the past - simply stride through the door you came through. Though have you a desire in your heart that drink has yet to quench?"

She sighed unhappily as she felt no closer to finding her way home than when she walked into the tavern. Her brow furled in confusion at the woman's question. "I have no idea what you are asking me. Drink is my greatest desire other than finding my way home once more." She set the bottle down with a heavy thunk. It was empty.

She didn't wait for the bartender. They didn't help her before. She climbed back over the bar and hopped down on the other side. She swayed just a little as she landed on her feet. She dropped a few more coins in the tip jar. She then began to peruse the bottles she could reach. She pulled a black dusty bottle off the shelf close to the floor. Again she couldn't read the label on it. She uncorked it and took a whiff. It was obviously extremely potent alcohol with licorce scented overtones. She smiled to herself. This ought to do the trick. If she had ever been in a situation where she deserved to get drunk. This was it!

She had no clue she had pulled a bottle typically served to orcs and goblins. She set the bottle on top of the bar like she had before. She started to jump up to climb over when she caught sight of the woman. "My apologies Miss. Do you need or want anything while I am over here?" She gave a warm smile to the woman awaiting her answer.
