Bio

Not born in a log cabin, I came into the RPing venture around 2009 and quickly joined about twenty roleplays more than I should have at the time. I've been around the internet in that time span, participated in and run RPs on multiple forums, and brushed shoulders with a wide variety of players and characters. Getting to work with new people has always been part of the allure of the experience.

My interests in RPing are pretty diverse, and not genre-specific; if there's room at the table and I can think of a dish to serve, I'll cook something up for just about any meal. If you know what I mean.

Things you should probably add to the character sheet: Appearance; kinda gotta have some idea what everyone's character looks like, yeah? Even amongst like species there are variations in looks/builds etc. Skills/Abilities; while it will go without saying that everyone in this will have some level of Ki-based prowess, it helps, especially in a DBZ RP, to establish what sort of techniques, skills and transformations they've achieved/developed/mastered, rather than pulling things completely out of thin air (IE, a character just suddenly doing an at-will SSJ transformation in the middle of a fight). And yeah, I must echo the above post in that there should be a starting cap on power ranges. I'd personally suggest defining PLs similarly to the way it's been set up from the DB Multiverse fan series: http://dragonballmultiverse.wikia.com/wiki/Power_Levels Basically just setting ranges of comparable PLs, within which all included characters are considered even in terms of their sheer power.
Hello!!!! *waves* How's everyone doing! I just joined today, and I can't wait to RP!
SugarRush
I hope you're the one called SugarRush that I'd dare to think you are. In any case, welcome to the Guild.
I have been wanting to do a DB RP.

Walking the span of corridor from his "bedroom" to the dining room, Julian Concord found that his vision was shrouded by a near-total darkness. Not because the lights were out, but because his entire body was veiled in a exterior layer that obscured his sight just enough to make it seem like the cool, iridescence of the candle-like wall sconces was non-existent. From head-to-toe, he was confined to the stylish, yet impeding comforts of a suit of neoprene, the very same material often used by electrical workers to protect them from the high-voltage dangers of their trade. Vlad and a few of his scientists had devised the use of the suit as a means of restraining him. Until further notice, Julian practically sung the words of Vlad himself in his head. The suit, meant to be a restraint against his recently acquired power over electricity and magnetism, was proving to be more a point of morale. There was no doubt in his mind that the only reason he wore it was because they had yet to invent a device that could keep him under thumb the way they did the others; electrically-based stun guns didn't exactly have much effect on someone already imbued with electricity. In way, the use of such weapons only seemed to fuel Julian's powers. Until further notice, he was practically invincible once they removed the neoprene; until further notice, Julian Concord had nothing worth fearing in anyone.

But further notice was coming. Despite the layer of thick, rubbery substance that blocked him from the outside world, he could hear most of the sounds from the hallway. Most of them were very standard: the thudding of the footsteps of the foursome of paramilitary guards that flanked him as he made his way to meet with Vlad, the distant murmurings of people in other hallways. Naturally, they were muffled by the restraining suit, but nonetheless audible by Julian's ears. Still, one sound grew somewhat clearer as he moved down the hall, as though it were moving towards him and his 'entourage.' It was a distinct sounds of hard soles and heels striding in perfect rhythm down an adjacent hallway, that, with certainty, drew closer to Julian.

When the sound of walking stopped, so too did the guards, one of whom yanked Julian to a halt as well. "Don't be so worked up boys." A voice spoke to the guards; a familiar voice, belonging to a young Lieutenant that had been charged with monitoring Julian's security measures. "Vlad says he's finally got something that'll keep this little monster from going wild on us... now, carry on. I'll see all of you for dinner."

It was a brief exchange, thankfully; Julian couldn't stand the Lieutenant in any measure. He could only hope she wouldn't blab on over dinner.
Name: Julian Concord
Age: 18
Gender: Male

Appearance:
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 190lbs

Personality: Since his first conviction several years ago, Julian has said very little to anyone; as much as he has said has been brief, detached and uninterested. Most have judged him based on his actions and the way he has carried himself, which does little to comfort any who are already nervous in his presence. Between his stone cold silence, abrasive expressions and aggressive posture, he seems to be dedicating his life to the goal of keeping other people at more than an arms length away.

Power: Electromagnetic Manipulation - Proficiency TBD

Biography: Betrayal... That's what started Julian's descent into the criminal life. A grievous wrong-doing, left upon his shoulders by a supposed friend left him in juvenile corrections. His escape only made things worse, and before long he was resisting arrest across the country, with revenge on his mind. When authorities last caught him, he has just turned 18, and was given two options: become a science project or be tried as an adult and land in prison. He chose the former and has only been looking forward since.

I think the most obvious question would be; What is your character doing in this setting? Out of the two fan-type characters that could potentially pop up now, the space marine is the one that is the easiest to integrate into the setting. I say -integrate- because if he walks around talking about the god emperor, and how he is a space marine, and whatever, he isn't really very well integrated, now is he? (Unless his motivations become the integrator, which I suppose could remedy that, but it's jiffy.) A namekian, on the other hand, is very.. out of place. Especially if he's calling himself a namekian, from the planet namek, you know, that blue one with the green water. Personally? I think both examples should be denied if they use background information or terms that is native to the setting from which they derive. Like, saiyans, God emperor, tyranids, kamehameha. Etc. Schradinger has a very good example of how you can take a character that is based on a different canon setting, like star wars, and integrate him into a different setting without removing the core of what being that character means. In my point of view, that should be a rule of thumb. A character should adjust to the new world he enters, not the other way around.

Isn't the whole premise of this that beings from many epochs are pretty much colliding upon a single realm/world? If so, then how is any fan-based character any more out of place than purely original ones? Save for being a character that comes from this world, which is difficult to achieve finitely seeing as little had been divulged of it. To that credit, I liked the old continuum simply for the fact that the setting was very clearly defined as to make it possible to create a character specifically for the continuum.

Furthermore, I would contest that in terms of general abilities, the application of "Ki" translated pretty well across most universes.

DBZ is a point of SERIOUS contention among character creators, forums, so on and so forth. Especially with how powerful the characters are, what with the second big bad being a planet buster class. The Namekians, Saiyans, and Changeling's abilities to change forms ever so frequently. Allowing them into this scenario would lead to so many arguments about power level that it would be comically unwise. But again, I plead for people to not saturate this roleplay with Fan Characters.

As I've always seen it, Namekians aren't as readily capable of heightening in power as Saiyans and Changelings. The requirements for them to make any drastic gains in power are either through gratuitous training efforts through fusion with other Namekians, which I would resolve not to have at my personal disposal (unless I'm given permission later on). In all honesty, I lean towards a Namekian because of their potential for a variety of abilities beyond simply having a lot of raw power. It's relatively easily to simply fit the character's performance into a teir while maintaining a few biological and mystical/magic-like traits.

Failing that though, I'll just think of another character. I mean I'm most likely going to have one character that fits the mold of a Ki-empowered (pseudo) martial artist.
Fanon is allowed? Cool. Then I can use the DBZ Namekian that I've been wanting to finish/throw into action?
Is there am expected aesthetic for characters here? Like will a more fantasy style be more appropriate to fit into the plot?
