Bio

Not born in a log cabin, I came into the RPing venture around 2009 and quickly joined about twenty roleplays more than I should have at the time. I've been around the internet in that time span, participated in and run RPs on multiple forums, and brushed shoulders with a wide variety of players and characters. Getting to work with new people has always been part of the allure of the experience.

My interests in RPing are pretty diverse, and not genre-specific; if there's room at the table and I can think of a dish to serve, I'll cook something up for just about any meal. If you know what I mean.

That could work, but would anyone want go though with the fight after they know they'll lose - as opposed to rolling and writing?

Would a roll then write work better under a roll-post-roll-post system? So it's not so much that the battle would be pre-determined, but rather the action needed is.

A dice system could be as simple as a needing >/= X to land a hit and so on, could it not?
@Wayward
Character sheet looks really good, powers seem quite in line, even impressive to look at. I like the character quite a bit and would be happy to accept you into the roleplay.

@Chev
Ya it looks fine now, accepted.

Well not too much I can do until others start posting. I absolutely hate having to double post, not good for my soul.

I was actually gonna start Sharong out at the training grounds that Rufus was going to town on.
Name: Kong Sharong
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Species: Triclops/Three-eyed Clan

Appearance

Personality: The sense of pride tends to run through the minds of members of just about every minority race for one reason or another. For Sharong, it is her status as an enlightened warrior, particularly one such who has managed to manifest her third eye, that fuels her sense of self-worth. She carries something of a preacher's diction, envisioning herself as something of a shepherd to the "two-eyed" folks. While no real ill-intention is meant by it, she tends to "kindly" talk down to those that lack the third-eye, even so far as to refer to them as children even when they're much older than she is. Prolonged resistance from those she acts this way towards yields a sort of passive-aggressively abrasive mannerism, emphasized primarily by sarcastic commentary.

On the whole, Kong Sharong is the typical vibrant youth, feeling immortal and ready to take on the world beyond the walls of her home. She's a full-in, no holding back type of person, who will put her whole being and everything she has on the line to carve her path. Motivated towards progress and accomplishment, she takes on any challenge in her way with strength and cunning. In any situation calling for mental or physical application, Sharong is focused to the point of being nearly incapable of falling prey to distractions. In fact, once she starts doing anything, it's difficult to get her to stop, such that anything less than achieving her objective(s) will not suffice as a reason to cease in an action.

Biography: Born in a more isolated reach of the world, Kong Sharong was bred and raised among the reclusive population of a society of dedicated warrior-monks. As one of the members of this temple commune, Sharong was descended from great warriors through history whose training and discipline yielded the physical manifestation of the much sought after third eye; all of the adults within the commune bore this feature. From a young age, her mind and body were put through the rigorous tests of the martial arts. One of the more astute students, Sharong took more quickly than most in her development, reaching proficiency in many techniques at a pace well-ahead of the typical learning curve. Never once straying from her training under this tutelage, she manifested her own third-eye at the fresh age of 18; an achievement that was relatively rare for one so young, usually only happening to one student every generation or two.

In light of her success, she decided to make a pilgrimage to the outside world, to fully test her abilities against others, and possibly learn from other masters. This being a customary practice, the elders of her commune not only approved, but supported her decision. Within days of the decision, Kong Sharong was packed and prepared for the long venture into the world she had never yet seen. With few words, she made her venture, left only with a semi-cryptic piece of advice: to never left her state reach to the darker recesses of her heart.

Aura Color: Light Orange
Preferred Fighting Style: Mixed
Special Techniques:

Melee
  • Four Witches; a technique by which Sharong forcibly grows a second pair of arms out from her upper back. Though a somewhat painful, and a bit time consuming, it is an agreeably profitable technique for melee combat, allowing a greater versatility for melee combat.
  • Multiform; the big sister, if you will, of Four Witches, multiform extends the multiplying of mere limbs to the splitting of a whole person into four. This, however, comes at the cost of each clone bearing a quarter of Sharong's power as a single being.
  • Focused Fist; Sharong concentrates her Ki into her fist, shaping it around the appendages in a manner comparable to releasing a standard Ki blast. Rather than releasing the energy, however, the use Focused Fist will hold that energy in place like a glove of sorts, reinforcing Sharong's physical blows for a short period. At any point before the energy is depleted, she may throw the energy in a blast.

Ki Projectiles
  • Zidan; a standard Ki exertion concentrated to a higher density, and propelled by a more pronounced kinetic force. Exploiting the greater force exerted against a smaller area upon her target increases the propensity for piercing blows.
  • Penhuo; simply Zidan applied with a high rate of fire.
  • Dapao; a charged blast of Ki, usually preceded by Sharong's charging of Ki through an entire arm.
  • Dapao Weida; the amplified version of Dapao, utilizing a charge of Ki into both of her arms, and releasing them into a single exertion.
  • Latching Needle; Possibly Sharong's most ingenious technique, she has managed to polarize her Ki in such a manner as to stick to other objects, even other beings. Should she find herself making melee contact with another body, she may choose to leave a small imprint of her own Ki upon the point of contact, and exploit it at a later time. However, the imprints are minuscule on their own, usually amounting to little more than the bee stings of Ki techniques; numerous imprints at pivotal locations is necessary for the technique to hold any weight.

Support Techniques
  • Heightened Ki Sense; Despite her young age, Sharong is particularly astute in the field of sensing the Ki of others. She's kicked the practice up a notch, having the ability to sense beyond most measures of suppression, thus perceiving the "true" power that others have at their immediate disposal. (*This perception does not prepare her for transformations, hidden potential, or Kaioken-type techniques*).
  • Flight; Sharong is able to exert her Ki as a propellant, allowing for airborne movement and maneuvering.
  • Solar Flare; Emits a split-second flash of intense light directed at its target(s), which, more often than not, leaves them momentarily blinded.

I do hope I'm not too late, and that I'm not pushing my luck with any of my techniques, history, etc.; I think most of them are kind of trivial anyways. I'd have avoided including Solar Flare among them, but I had originally had another technique that pretty much served to the same purpose (IE distraction-making). That being said, the techniques that I've crossed out are pretty much just amp-ups to the ones above them that I intend to have Sharong come to later on. If I need to save any other things for later, just let me know.
Whether to be Namekian or human...

Will there be sn option for playing an aragonist down the road?
@Wayward

Ya I'll admit the plot certainly does have similarities, though consider how little plot that series actually got into, heh.

Anyway I think I'll have saiyans be a no-no for this roleplay. A saiyan 'might' appear as a villain somewhere down the line but for the most part saiyans are completely wiped out for the purposes of this roleplay. Also saiyan characters tend to encourage power playing with their, as Krillin says "Hacks! I Say Hacks!" (from dragonball abridged), referring to how saiyans for some strange reason, get stronger after having a near-death experience. When playing saiyans some roleplayers literally just get their character beat up so they could abuse that mechanic, always felt like such a cheat to me.

Yeah. That was just me reflecting on what I inferred from all the clips.

What is your stance on Namekians?
Heh you had me curious so I looked up Dragon Ball Absalon. Decent enough animation, not really good mixing though and the story was only hinted at and seemed...rather basic at best. Also I really don't see why there is such a fixation on trying to make Saiyans the ultimate force to fight against, always thought people tended to get a little too hung up on the saiyans.

Oh I also just wanted to say...Dat Hair! DAT HAIR!! Hair seems to always get so crazy in dragonball fan stories, like they're trying to one-up on the original series lol.

All echoing my own sentiments. As entertaining as it was, it seemed more bent on becoming a fan-service; they made it clear through their snippets that Goku was gonna jump back in eventually, and it seemed that everything else in the typical DBZ format was going to run through.

But I do think the hinted plot has similarities to this RP idea; I mean, the (present) leader of the antagonists looked very similar to a second form Frieza, to me anyways.
The idea almost sounds like a *better* version of what that Dragon Ball Absalon series was fleshing out into.
I wish I could play an antagonist in such a swift manner. I'm not quite at that cunning though.

I frequently gravitate towards the more antiheroic types of character It's usually those who side with villainous factions on the promise from said villains that their personal (sometimes nobler) intentions would ultimately be satisfied by their involvement. Such as one character I sided with a faction bent on pretty much wrecking the omniverse in return for the return of documents hinting to the fate/whereabouts of an estranged/missing relative. Of course, I ran that one with the intention of my character betraying/sabotaging the villains once he got what he needed back from them, and thus helping to thwart their plans.
I'm not sure how proud I should be of it, but years ago, like a month after I first started RPing, I, for one reason or another, decided to make an RP based on the Where's Waldo? books... I'd wager someone had already come up with the idea that I was working it around though. It was basically a man-hunt roleplay, with Waldo being a globally infamous criminal/terrorist recently escaped from confinement. One person took on the Waldo role while the rest of the players played representatives from various real and fictitious agencies working to track him down (and ultimately kill him, probably). That notwithstanding, it pretty much shaped up in a way that would have made it a good parody RP.

The idea had hit me late at night/early in the morning; that hour where I was so tired that pretty much anything that I came up with that wasn't totally serious (and I honestly didn't think that it'd ever pick up any sort of interest) just seemed hilarious. I laughed so hard, and for so long, that I actually had to leave my room so I wouldn't wake my roommate. I think I spent like forty-five minutes laughing at myself and what I had posted. To my surprise, the next few days saw decent interest from that site's RPing community. The role of Waldo was even taken up by the best possible person for the role at that time.

Sadly, like most RPs, it didn't quite make it to its prime. I'd definitely try it again, with more emphasis on it being more of a parody, even if just for the s-and-g.
A nice groundwork to spring from. I'm down.
