Bio

Hello everyone. I'm Dutch, a mother of a 8-year old boy and I love both rp-ing and writing. Since May 2020 I'm one of the contests mods.

I started with writing Dutch stories in 2002, I was already 19 at that time. I joined a writing competition and that got me started. Soon I started to write down all the stories my over-active imagination came up with. I had my first forum rp experience in 2003 on a Dutch fantasy forum. While I continued to write, I stopped rp-ing when the particular rp and forum slowly died. In 2011 my love for rp's rekindled when I joined a site with a forum and I started to RP solely in English since that is the language of the site. This is also when I wrote my first story in English.

I've got a few 1x1 rp's going on this site and a couple more on another site. I've always been a fan of writing competitions and I joined a lot several of the ones that were hosted on this website. Now I get to host them myself and really enjoy that too.

When you come here to check if I'm online, know that even when I show as online I might not be able to respond to RP's. I open this site so that when I have time I can spend some time here, but I don't always end up with the time to do so.

If I haven't replied in a while, feel free to poke me. I don't ghost on purpose, sometimes I just forgetful and if I read your reply and accidentally closed the tab I might forget I was supposed to reply T_T

@o3oMega-evolutions are allowed, but keep in mind that during the League in Evoru the Pokémon must be fire, water, flying or ground. There is an instant disqualification if that is no longer the case. In gym battles this restriction doesn't exist, there you can use any type you want.

And Pokémon don't forget moves, you may use any move that is reasonable for the level they are. I don't ask people to count levels, but a newly caught Pidgey doesn't know Wing Attack. Try to keep it realistic, based on the Pokémon Universe established in the anime.
The RP aims to emulate the anime more than the games, so battles are also done more anime-style. Feel free to use the surrounding to your advantage and use attacks as a counter attack.

I should add this to the first post, but unless a Pokémon can hold on to the item, or carries on them as an accessory or a piece of clothing, items during battles are not allowed. You can't run up to a Pokémon mid-battle to apply a potion, but if the Pokémon wears a bracelet or a scarf with a megastone or another item that has to be held, that is allowed.
Could you expand on the character form? Specifically what ages are the max/min or what age range you're looking for and which pokemon we're allowed/which are usually the starters. Also most people usually start their pokemon trainer career at 10 so If somebody wants to start their career they'd need to wait like 6 years just to be able to compete. Any preferred length for the backstory? Also for appearances, are we allowed to use/do you prefer we use pictures or descriptions?

If you are from any of the official regions, you may use any of those starters. If you never got a starter from a professor, but your parents gave you a pokémon, you may start with that. If you want to pick up a starter at Rhando Island, then you can choose between Rowlet, Cyndaquil and Froakie.

Natives know they can't start until they're 16, so they usually don't go to professor Maple to start their adventure at the age of 10. After elementary school there is the academy where they can get a basic eduction and some basic trainer lessons, and they are allowed to have a Pokémon companion there, but they don't learn to fight until they are 15. People who aren't from the islands are allowed to have competed in a League or two already, and have started at whatever age is common for those regions. This doesn't have to be the first League a character does.

I didn't put a minimum or maximum age, if someone wishes to play an adult who thought it would be fun to do a new league, that is allowed. Characters younger than 16 can do whatever their parents allow them to, but they can't participate in the battles/contests, so if that's what you want to do your character should be 16+

The backstory can be as short or as long as you want and appearance may be text or an image, both are fine.

I hope this clears things up :)

@CaptainSully I've got no problems with the Pokémon you picked :)
For those who expressed their interest, the RP is up:

This is my first time hosting a RP on this site and I'm excited to do this :)
Welcome to the RP :)

Here you will find all the relevant information about the Rorie Islands.

The plot is to have fun. This RP will allow people to have their own adventures; you may do the league, you may do contests, you may do both or you may do neither. I as GM will assist the players by using NPC's for the gym battles, quests and to help people get together.

This location is something I use in my fanfictions, please do not use outside this rp without my approval.

The gym leaders/contest judges and other NPC's:

These are all my OC's, and I will play them when needed. Some NPC's can only be found at a certain location, others roam freely over the islands and may pop up when needed.

Gym leaders/Contest judges:
* Ground gym: Henri Tenson (on Rhando, in Mesperit City)
* Water gym: Alana Landrieu (on Ornitan, in the port village Watersleat)
* Fire gym: Liah McLean (on Resto, in the mountains)
* Flying gym: Blake Johnson (on Indelgy, in Hilltop - a village located in the center of the island)

Other NPC's:
* Professor Maple: a middle-aged woman and the head of the research facility in Lilan Town.
* Thomas Redcliff: an old man living in the forest of Rhando Island, just outside Mesperit City. No-one knows much about him, but he seems to keep several Pokémon at his house. He's often seen with a Houndoom by his side.
* Charlie Johnson: father of Blake, the owner of a general store on Evoru island with his wife Naomi and expert on the Cyndaquil colony.
* Andy Bansing: the most handsome and talented researcher anyone has ever seen! An adult male who travels across the islands for research (or so he claims)
* Roark Clarckson: A scientist who feels greatly misunderstood and enjoys doing experiments.
* Jolin Kaldara: the head of the Pokémon Rangers HQ on Evoru.

Nurse Joy is not a npc just for the owner of the RP, everyone is free to interact with the nurses in the Pokémon Centers at their own.

More information will be added and other NPC will be created when needed!
In this post you will find the information you need about the location, the Pokémon that can be found, the League and the Contests.

Welcome to the Rorie Islands! Some say there are more Pokémon than Humans on the islands and that may very well be true. All five islands have lots of Pokémon living on them and every island has the opportunity for Gym battles and Contests.
Come explore the Rorie Islands and discover what adventures lie ahead!
I'm glad to see you two are interested already. We'll probably need a few more to have a fun group RP, so stay subscribed and we'll see how many more would like to join ^_^
I have a Pokémon Region that I use for my fanfics. This interest check is to see if anyone wants to play in my region and try either the contest or the league they have.

The region is a group of five island, four of the islands have a gym and a contest hall, both themed around one of the four elements (earth, air, water and fire), the last island is where the league will be held.
There is a catch to the league. While you may use any Pokémon you want in the gyms, in the League you may only use a Pokémon with a ground, flying, water or fire type (dual types are allowed). As for the contests, every hall has a theme of an element and attacks should represent that, but in the big finale on the last island you should also use Pokémon of the correct type.

The RP will allow people to have their own adventures; you may do the league, you may do contests, you may do both or you may do neither. I as GM will have NPC's to make quests, assist players and play the gym leaders, who double as contest judges.
If people want a Pokémon Academy RP, that is possible too as one of the islands has an academy where beginning trainers can take classes, I have 2 professor NPC's who can teach.

So, plenty of options :) anyone wants to play on my islands?
