Bio

Hello everyone. I'm Dutch, a mother of a 8-year old boy and I love both rp-ing and writing. Since May 2020 I'm one of the contests mods.

I started with writing Dutch stories in 2002, I was already 19 at that time. I joined a writing competition and that got me started. Soon I started to write down all the stories my over-active imagination came up with. I had my first forum rp experience in 2003 on a Dutch fantasy forum. While I continued to write, I stopped rp-ing when the particular rp and forum slowly died. In 2011 my love for rp's rekindled when I joined a site with a forum and I started to RP solely in English since that is the language of the site. This is also when I wrote my first story in English.

I've got a few 1x1 rp's going on this site and a couple more on another site. I've always been a fan of writing competitions and I joined a lot several of the ones that were hosted on this website. Now I get to host them myself and really enjoy that too.

When you come here to check if I'm online, know that even when I show as online I might not be able to respond to RP's. I open this site so that when I have time I can spend some time here, but I don't always end up with the time to do so.

If I haven't replied in a while, feel free to poke me. I don't ghost on purpose, sometimes I just forgetful and if I read your reply and accidentally closed the tab I might forget I was supposed to reply T_T

Would you like Andy to discover Alastor now (and buy him dinner if he doesn't have any money), or do you want to let some time pass before they meet again?

Andy loves burgers, I can let him change his mind about his dinner and it would be completely in character.
Benjamin nodded to Sara and turned his attention to Marc as he spoke to them. "Actually," he said, "I would like an appointment with the psychiatrist about my medication. Maybe if I tell her again that I don't need it, she will opt for another therapy and then you and I don't have to go through the same conversation over and over again." He showed the broadest smile he could master. "Good plan?"

Marc shrugged and noted it on his medication list. "Whatever you want, Benjamin. I'll ask for an appointment." After that he went to the next table to give the patients what they needed.

"It's going to be absolutely pointless," Benjamin predicted as he too ate from the soup. "But maybe, with a bit of luck, they will see that I'm not causing any harm with my delusions or hallucinations or whatever they call it, even without any medication."
One could always hope, but he wouldn't bet any money on them agreeing with him.
Mindy dug up a cucumber sandwich for Gavin and stretched her arm so Gavin could take it from her. As she did she made sure to check up on her Pokémon quick, but everyone seemed to get along just fine and they were all eating. The only two who were eating seemed to be Michaels Poochyena, whose red ribbon was just adorable, and that peculiar Pokémon of Niccia.

Michael was looking for something to drink, there were small bottles with fruit juice and flavoured Moomoo-milk. After finishing his sandwich he took an apple juice and opened the bottle. There was definitely room for another sandwich, but he wasn't in a hurry. As he drank from it he too looked at all the Pokémon that were mingling and eating or playing together.

Lytse and Marie had finished eating and walked to the bird Pokémon, Lytse adjusted his speed to the crawling Dunsparce. With his short paws it was easier to adjust to a slower Pokémon, than try to keep up with the energetic puppy-Pokémon.
Anthony saw them coming, but continued to peck the seeds. Timothy had his back to them, but as he ate he did examine Jycii's feathers.
"Those have different colours than I am used to," he said to her. "The only Pokémon I know that has rainbow colours is Milotic. And Lytse, but that is a rare case. And Ho-Oh is of course linked to the rainbows. But that's it."

Saruya gave Harry a loving nudge. "However our pups will look, Michael and Niccia will accept them. As long as they will stay together, we can stay together." She looked at her trainer. "I don't think he has any intention to leave her side. And I'm not planning to leave yours."

"Or fly," Merlin commented, looking at the wings. How much did he know about Yvetal? Not much, just what Andy had told him. The things he could tell the man if only he could understand Pokémon like his nephew could. But despite the human limitation to understand Pokémon, Andy did a good job compared to other people.

"I just grew up as a simple Dratini," Mable said. "But after living in the open waters, not enclosed by anything, the Pokéball was frightening." She shuddered at the thought. "I spend a lot of time wrapped around Mindy's neck as a Dratini, and as a Dragonair she released me, because it wasn't practical to travel on land. She did give me a tracker and at every beach she came, she let me know where she was and I would visit her. And as a Dragonite I returned to her so we could travel together again."
The dayshift came to an end, the day had been hectic as usual. Maybe a little more due to the disappearing patient. As Andy walked to his car, he thought about the security agents and the head of the department about the events, having to explain how a man with such injuries had been able to remove his cast and leave the hospital undetected. Of course he couldn't, according to the data he had the man shouldn't have been able to do that.

It wasn't his problem, after a patient left the hospital it was out of his hands. Still, it was a curious case.
Once he reached his car he got in and drove away. Instead of going straight home, he drove into the city to do some shopping. Probably get a frozen pizza for tonight and some other things he needed to get. The music blasted through the speaker and he whistled along with the tune.
Then the news came and they reported about a mysterious death in the Thompsons Victorian Clothing Emporium.
It was a place he knew, a quaint shop, but they didn't exactly sell his style of clothes. His current T-shirt evidence of that: a red shirt with the black text "awesome ends with me".
Nothing about the escaped patient, but that would at best get a small article in the regional newspaper. A murder was more likely to be on the news.

He turned into a parking lot in front of a big supermarket and turned the engine off. Plenty of cars were parked there, it would be equally crowded in the shop. All people like him, doing some last-minute shopping.
Closing the car, he started going towards the supermarket.
"Yeah, well, you both can fly. The only thing I'm somewhat decent at is a fist-fight." He took a moment to take in her height and muscles. "Not sure if I would stand much of a change against you." It reminded him he needed to talk with Ben, the agents had told him to start working on his endurance. "But I guess I need to practise fighting against those who are bigger and stronger than me." He got up. "Just don't breathe fire on me. That wouldn't be fair."

"It sounds good," Benjamin said and looked at Steph."Is it?" According to Harriet it was, but different people, different taste and her nose had scrunched.
He drank from his water and leaned back, it was relaxing to have lunch in good company, but he did think about the job and his two team-members. One was still at HQ, the other having his own lunch with Mitch. He wondered what they would be talking about. He decided it didn't matter, if it was important Mike would tell, and if it was just a lunch between friends it really was none of his business.
It was a patient Benjamin didn't know, but he added the name to the list. Maybe it was unrelated to Simon's death, but he didn't want to call it a coincidence and brush it off either.
"Thanks for the soup," he said, when he noticed the people on the table ahead turned around to see where their soup was, and a quick glance over his shoulder learned him Marc was almost at their table too.

Marc was at the table just behind Ray and Benjamin and administered an injection to a patient. When that was done he moved to the next table and placed two cups on it. "Ray, Benjamin. Take your medicine. If you fail to take any by tonight, you will get an appointment with our psychiatrist to re-evaluate the treatment and the type of medicine used. Your conditions can easily be treated if you will just take your pills." He gestured to the room with his arm. "Everyone takes theirs, they all know it will help them. Please stop being stubborn and take it."
He remained at their table a moment longer to see if they would take it, but he had to move to the next patient soon.
Two things:

1) I finished tidying up the past events Google doc.

2) I want to explain a bit more about Meria. I think part of her lore and the magic system I used for her can be incorporated in the RP, but only if everyone approves. It doesn't have to be everything, but it would be nice if we could incorporate some elements of it.

Meria is a water sorceress, and sorcerers can bend the elements to their will, providing there is a source. For instance, the flame sorcerers need fire if they want to shoot fireballs. I think Noble has a different kind of firemagic, I'd call him a mage rather than a sorcerer.
Among the sorcerers is an elemental trust or distrust depending on their affinity. Water goes well with air, but has a distrust towards fire and ground. Because of this Meria doesn't like dwarves, who have a natural affinity to ground, and this is also why she senses the aura of Noble as hostile.

People can have an affinity to an element without knowing it or doing it, warriors often have an affinity to fire, fishermen to water, things like that. Meria's father had an affinity to water, he was a fisherman and he was always able to find fish, he called it intuition, but he could sense where the fish were.
And in the other setup I mentioned the dwarves: their affinity to ground allows them to find ores and gems in the ground which makes them naturally good miners.
Aside from being stronger in the profession they have chosen, they can like or dislike people without knowing why: because it clashes with their elemental affinity. The reaction of normal humans tends to be less than that of sorcerers.

Then there are people who are born without an affinity to any element, so they can get along with anyone regardless of what affinity they have. And then there is the last element Spirit. It's an overarching element. They too can get along with everyone, regardless of the affinity or lack of affinity.

The Hermit would have an affinity to the Spirit element, which makes him able to read people better than the average man, but he's not a sorcerer.

As for Mikhal, he either has no affinity or an affinity to Spirit, because he gets along with everyone too (I hadn't decided that yet). And Trevor has an affinity to fire, which is why he and Meria don't get along.
So far Rachel hadn't been part of that lore, so I hadn't decided any affinity for her, but if I were to give her any, I'd say Air. For this reason she would never bond with a dragon of a fire or ground type, but having bonded with a Light dragon she would have overcome any natural dislikes for other elements in dragons.

I don't expect everyone will decide on any affinities, I just wanted to explain how it works for my characters :) It will be Meria mostly who reacts to other elements, because as an elemental sorceress she feels everything stronger than other people do.
The hermit listened as everyone discussed their plans as he stirred the soup. When Gnol offered him the mug he thanked him for it and then he looked at the group. Maybe it was time to give them a little more help, that was what they had come for after all and they had paid him well with all the wood, food and ale. He brought a wooden whistle to his lips and blew twice on it.
"Just calling someone," he said. "But to me it looks like your next goals are rather straight-forward. Our dear Dwarven friend here knows a few hiding riders, whatever you decide to do, in the very least you should send them a message." He looked around as he said that, but turned his attention to the soup afterwards. "As for how to deal with the king, I think it's important the offspring of the Old King will have a say in it. I knew him well, the king came to me with every time his new child was a year or two, I doubt any of them remember. But to reclaim the throne we seem to have two option. War or assassination. And the children of the Old King should decide how they want to reclaim the throne, the rest of us can merely follow in their decision." After he spoke those words he looked up from the soup again. "This soup is done, anyone want some?"

When Meria heard the soup was ready she took some bowl and walked to the Hermit, he could fill them and she would give them to the ones who wanted soup. She sensed a familiar aura emitting from Noble, and while she knew Noble was on their side, the magic felt hostile to her. The small water dragon seemed to sense it too, as she dove under the water. Fire and ground were at an advantage here, but at least the Hermit was here. In his sanctuary there would be no fighting.

Trevor sat down next to Mikhal and they both drank from the ale. "Yes please," Mikhal said in answer to the question of soup and Trevor nodded.
With how the Hermit talked about the children of the Old King, Trevor examined everyone more carefully. Were they here? Was that why the Hermit refused to look at anyone as he spoke. There were a few who had seemed awkward and tense when the Hermit had mentioned the heir before. Without voicing his suspicion, he examined the three he didn't know yet. The possibility it was Duncan was quickly dismissed, why would he search for the heir if he was it? And to make it worse, the Hermit had spoken in plural. Children.

General Doruk, a man with black hair with a few strands of dark-grey through it, noticed the light. If anyone would have been there he would have finished up the business, but since he was alone he went straight to the entrance and opened it for his agents. While he was broad and had a slight bulge in the area of his stomach as a result for his tase of fine wine, he was still quick to move.
"Okay, report. I hope you two have better news than the last messenger that came."
Character accepted.
The Decidueye nodded when he received the information and turned his attention to eating. Anthony examined him for a moment longer, it was the first time seeing a Pokémon like that, but started pecking the seeds again. Hunger won it from his curiosity.

Michael handed Niccia one of the cheese sandwiches, but looked at Gavin. "Cucumber is a vegetable," he explained. "They chopped it up and added it to a sauce, often yoghurt or mayonnaise."
Mindy chuckled. "I'm sure he knows what a cucumber is, Michael. He probably didn't expect they served a cucumber salad." She took a bite from her own. "It's good though," she added, taking another bite.

"I would like some too," Saruya said. "Imagine a Growlithe with blood of two Legendary Pokémon though. Maybe it would be diluted enough to not show, maybe they'll be perfectly normal Growlithe, but if the pups do end up different somehow, they won't have an easy life. Organisations like Team Rocket will be after them." She looked at the Arcanine besides her. "I love how you look, but was it easy for you, growing up with that fur?"

Merlin examined the pattern the Noibat showed them and then looked at the Noibat. "Didn't know Yvetal was a Noibat," he stated. "I am getting accustomed to legendary having an alternate Human form, but a Noibat?"

Mable and Blaze looked at Tyson as he approached. Mable had a friendly smile for them and Blaze gave a nod.
"Unusual flames too," the Dragonite commented when she saw them. [i]"You must have an interesting story, little one."[/u] She didn't ask him to share it, but this little Charmander was certainly a special one.
