"No one can escape the fate given to them. All that remains is the end, where you will all perish. Eternal greatness exists only within myself. Sing a song of sorrow in a world where time has vanished."
Greetings fellow humans! I've decided to finally cave in and give the 1x1 section a try, just to give myself a little more to do.
A little about me: I live in the US central time zone, this way if you live in the shadow isles of Britain, that's why I'm active at like 3 A.M. for you. I'm pretty active most days, but I don't always have time to crank out posts. It's probably just me checking in every so often just to see if there's any changes, or perhaps to do a quick shitpost in the spam section. I don't expect my partners to post every day either, but I would like something every couple of days or so.
As far as writing itself, I usually hang around in the casual section, and can typically get out about 3-5 paragraphs. Though, depending on who and what I'm working with, that number can change. I don't expect you to write a novel every post, but I'd like more to on that just two or three lines of text. If push comes to shove, I wouldn't mind doing a collab post on something like Google docs if we're doing something like a long exchange of dialogue. As far as grammar is concerned, it typically isn't a huge issue if there's an errant typo or something, but if it looks like a 3rd grader wrote it, I'm gonna have to pass. I also usually don't write more than one character, unless the two are extremely connected in some way, like a trainer and their pokemon. I also write in third person, past tense, and I'd appreciate if you did the same. I also don't do IRL face claims, kinda weirds me out.
One more thing of note: despite the name, I'm not into erp or romance. That stuff's kinda cringe, and not what I'm here for. If you come to me and the first thing you say is something along the lines of "Check out my character with a huge dong", I'm going to make fun of you.
I don't mind if we do PM's or on the guild, but I don't do discord rp's nor email or docs, unless it's for something like a collab post.
Last, but certainly not least, my main interests are a few Fandoms like Jojo, Pokemon, Persona, or Digimon. I'm also a sucker for a good high fantasy rp, stuff with magic, or anything along those lines. Without further ado, here's a few ideas I've got lined up, ripped straight from Ye Olde Test Thread. Note: many of these are written as group rp's but will work just as well as 1x1 rps, and vice-versa. If you see one that you like, and want to bring a friend, just let me know, and we can probably work something out.
The first is a re-telling of the first D&D campaign I ever made.
Long story short, it takes place in the pre-established campaign setting of Eberron. In this adventure, 3-5 adventurers are hired by the governor of a large city of my creation known as Heston. Heston is divided into several wards, or districts, each with their own significance. In one of these districts, the Saltaire District, several dozen citizens have gone missing over the course of just a few days, causing panic in the city, and the district to be closed off.
Your task is to investigate the Saltaire district and find the cause of these disappearances, as well as the fates of the missing people. What awaits within? Who or what is behind this, and why?
I don't have any experience in the tabletop rp section, or with the dice roller thread thing on the site, so I'm leaning more towards just having it be a regular rp, but at the same time, what is D&D without dice? In the end I think I'd probably end up letting the players decide.
The second idea is an idea that I've shared before with someone else that was turned into a group rp, and honestly, I'm not entirely sure how I'd like to run this.
The idea was, a GM is making a game/rp/whatever for a group. Then, through some strange means (Struck by lightning at midnight, isekai truck, magic rock from space, shooting star, etc.) The GM ends up in the world they created. Problem is, they never finished making the world. The ending is incomplete, and several details haven't been filled in. Now, the GM and the characters in the story are together and must figure out what to do next.
The GM, however, has GM powers still, such as being able to determine things with the roll of a die, being able to benefit or cripple creatures with various modifiers, or even being able to change details through exposition.
It's not to far-fetched to think of some of the pokemon as gods. Heck, some pokemon are even referred to as deities, or are called defied pokemon. I mean, dialga and palkia can create new universes, kyogre's mere presence causes world-wide flooding, groudon can influence the friggin' sun, and the list goes on. My idea is to expand on this idea. Perhaps some of the mythic pokemon like Cresselia are seen as demi-gods, as their powers aren't quite on world altering scale, but are still impressive nonetheless.
Would it not then be too big of a stretch to imagine these godlike pokemon have followings or worshippers? Perhaps Kyogre is the patron deity of water types? Perhaps Xerneas is what healing pokemon like Blissey follow? Maybe there are cultists who worship the more evil godlike pokemon, like Yveltal?
With all of that, here's how I'd like to go about the story:
About 25 years ago there was a great war between the forces of good and evil. Giratina, Darkrai, Yveltal, and several other pokemon seeking the destruction of the world, started the apocalypse. Mountains reduced to gravel, continents shattered apart and moved across the ocean, millions of lives reduced to ashes in an instant. The world was truly ending. But there was hope. The pokemon who sought to keep the world together and protect it. Xerneas, Palkia, Groudon, and several other legendary heroes (Legendary in feats of glory sense, not literal legendary pokemon) took to the front lines to stop them. And after a decade of fighting, the evil pokemon were either sealed away, slain, or imprisoned. However, that's not to say there weren't losses for the good guys, too. The same fate befell many of those fighting to protect the world.
Fifteen years have passed since then, and the world has begun to rebuild. Regigigas is putting the continents back together, Suicune is purifying the water, Shaymin are helping to regrow forests, the world is beginning to heal.
This adventure would take place in a guild hall led by one of these so-called legendary heroes. They believe that the world needs more heroes now more that ever, and that by working together, the world can come back even better than it was before.
Now, this I just a rough draft, and if I ever decided to make it a real thing, I'd obviously add in more details, like the names of the continents and major nations, the names and species of all the guild members, and even some villans. Another thing to keep in mind is the time between the war. Is 25 years ago too much? Should it instead be 20? I understand that it takes a lot of time to rebuild, so maybe the whole 15 years later thing should be closer to 20? Or should I just do away with numbers entirely? I'll leave that up to the players.
Fourth on our list is a re-telling of my first ever rp here. It takes place in Champaign, IL, and the central theme is eldritch horror/occult stuff.
A detective by the name of Isaac Skye is investigating a series of gruesome murders. The corpses left behind seem like they were torn apart by animals, and are often disfigured, and a strange dark purple ooze can be found on or near the body. Detective Skye hires essentially a "neighborhood watch" of a few individuals (the players) to keep an eye on the various parts of the city. Gathering information, taking photographs of strange occurrences, gathering evidence, etc.
And that's basically the plot. Kind of shallow, I know. But hey, it was my first rp, and this is more of a remake than a remaster. As it stands, it's basically just an SoL rp with an eldritch horror backdrop. If I had to change anything, I'd probably just have the whole "eldritch horror" thing play a heavier part. Perhaps one of the players is cursed at some point by an angry cultist who doesn't like them investigating. And now the party has to find a way to remove the curse, whether that's making a sacrifice to an ancient God, reading a tome written by a madman, or perhaps even modern medicine can help. Maybe they encounter some sort of monstrosity and are forced to fight. There are many possibilities here to choose from.
Fifth up is something that probably works best in a 1x1 scenario. It's kind of like a reverse isekai.
Basically, instead of random Japanese teen getting merked by an isekai truck and transported to a magical realm where everyone has cool magic and superpowers, it's someone from that realm getting killed by like, a falling boulder or something, and they are instead transported to the modern day.
One of us would play the person from the modern day, while the other is from the other realm. Said person from the other realm would still have their magic and any sort of equipment on them, but struggle to adapt to modern technology and society. Meanwhile, the person from modern day would probably act as a sort of guide for the other, and would have to teach them about how things work in the modern era.
That's the basic premise. There are all sorts of variables we'd need to figure out and create. Like where does this take place? Tokyo? Chicago? Somewhere in Rome? Or what kind of world did the other person come from? Somewhere high fantasy with dragons and sorcerers? Somewhere with Magitech like airships and magical tools? The options are abundant, and you could play this anyway you wanted.
Idea number six is another pokemon related one. This isn't entirely thought out yet but here's the basic skeleton.
The champion of the region has been champion for quite some time now, likely over a decade. Problem is, he's too good, and nobody really poses a challenge anymore. As a result, he's become increasingly apathetic, depressed, and even a little arrogant. He's lost his passion, and only cares about winning. He uses only the best of the best pokemon, and trains them to perfection. Finally, he's had enough, and no longer wants to be champion, but his pride won't let him just throw it away to the next random challenger.
So, the elite four have come up with a way to try and re-ignite the champion's passion, or to find him a worthy successor: By sending him back through the gym challenge with a young up-and-coming trainer. A reigon wide drawing is held, and one lucky trainer, (or maybe like, 4-5 if this becomes a group rp) are sent on a journey with the champion.
The champion, of course, would be using a brand new team, and hopefully with the help of his new companion(s) he can break his old habits and find the fun he used to have in battling and exploring, and using pokemon that are fun to use, not the ones that are the best. There would, of course likely be other things, like the region's version of team rocket, or weird sub-plots like pokemon outbreaks. I already have an idea for the champion, but everything else is mostly up to group creation. What I'd like to do for the champion is have him take along his first ever pokemon along this adventure (which would be a likely be a fully evolved pokemon but would have a reason not to fight, such as old age, direct orders from the champion, a crippling injury, etc) to act more as a supporting character to help bridge the gap between the champion and the newer trainers, or to use as a last resort, should the group ever be in any real danger.
I had an idea for here, but forgot what it was on the drive home. All I remember is something about mechanical cowboys.
I remember a few more details, now. The time setting was basically "So far in the future that we're in the wild west again". Humans were still around, but there were significantly less of them. Robots lived alongside humans, though there is some tension between them, some of the robots seeing humans as somewhat lesser beings, while some humans don't exactly see the robots as "living beings" or some other petty reasons.
I'm open to making this to a sort of space age thing too, with a few alien species, lasers, and FTL drives.
Numero ocho is kind of a weak idea, but I thought I should write it down anyways, just in case. You're dead. Or at least, you're supposed to be.
You wake up in the middle of nowhere, but there are others with you as well. Problem is, you all look the same. You don't remember much, but what you do remember is that you're a clone. And so are all the people around you. You were deemed "failures" for deviating too far from the original person.
You were left for dead by whoever cloned you and now you're being hunted by people trying to erase you from existence.
From here, I'd leave a few things up for debate. We could be on a mission for vengeance, just trying to survive and on the run, or, hell, maybe we decide to make an army out of clones that are supposed to be dead. We'd also need some sort of way to identify ourselves, such as some sort of deviant feature, like hair color, eye color, height, etc.
(I'll have two) Number 9 is based around a ranger subclass from fifth edition dungeons and dragons; The Horizon Walker.
Horizon Walkers are guardians of the material plane (the plane we live on) against extraplanar threats, such as Fey, Elementals, Demons and Devils, and even the occasional Celestial. Even going as far as to travel to the inner and outer planes to track their prey.
Now, this doesn't mean we're a bunch of murderous psychopaths killing anything that even looks at our plane funny. Sometimes magic doesn't always work correctly and you end up here, and we have to escort you back. Maybe some parts of the planes are overlapping and you took a wrong turn and ended up in the shadowfell, and now it's up to us to go find and save you.
Horizon Walkers also are on good terms with other entities that seek to preserve order in the planes, such as most Celestials, a few Elementals, or even certain Dragons. From here is where I'd leave a few things up to the player(s). Do we do this in medieval times where everyone's running around with swords and bows? Should we go for a more modern approach with guns, helicopters, and explosive ordinance? Is this whole planar travel a new thing? Or is it something we've been doing for centuries now? And what races would be available? Should there be only Humans in the modern setting? Should the players be allowed to play as a Celestial or a Fey? There are many questions, and if I ever decide to break this rp out, then we'll get some answers.
You are an ordinary person who lives a relatively ordinary life in your perfectly ordinary city. But one day, you receive a phone call. The person on the other end of the phone tells you that you, and a group of other such ordinary individuals are to save the world, or at least, most of it. Technology is about to advance: there will be hovercars, androids, rocket ships going to Mars are about to be invented. But little do they know that advancement will give rise to a threat that may very well spell doom for the human race and the planet earth.
This is when you recognize the voice on the other end of the phone. It's you, from another time. You originally failed in your task, and your planet is in ruins. Everyone has given up. Everyone has submitted. Except you and your friends, whom you likely haven't met yet. This is their last hope. You are their last hope, that now you can use this knowledge of future events to prevent calamity. The voice thanks you for your time, and hangs up. It's time to get to work.
I've left a few things open here, such as what this calamity actually is. Is it a robot army? Do aliens invade the planet for your technology and resources? Does nuclear war break out? And how do you, a completely normal person plan on stopping this. I'd likely take a poll, or have people post their ideas, and then go from there.
Plot XI involves the world of Digimon. I haven't thought out every little thing yet, but I have a decent idea of what I'd like to do. Do keep in mind that this rp will be based more on the games, like Digimon World Dawn/Dusk, and Cyber Sleuth/Hacker's Memory.
In this world, the digital world and its inhabitants are widely known. People can visit the digital through special transporters known as "beacons" and end up at another beacon of their choice, provided they have the corresponding IP address. People and digimon have lived in relative harmony, though that's not to say some areas are safer than others, and that some digimon don't believe in having human tamers.
All seems well in both worlds. But things aren't quite as they seem. The digital world is still very much digital, and is subject to bots, viruses, and many other digital plagues. Most of these plagues are dealt with by a Tamer Union. A Tamer Union is a sort of guild where many Tamers solve problems brought to them by digimon and humans alike. A Tamer Union acts independently, but are all technically under the governance of a centralized parliament. This is called, well, the Digital Parliament.
In recent weeks, there has been an increase in the number of bots around the digital world. Bots appear human, but can quickly be identified as bots by the way they speak. The may answer with something totally unrelated, get emotional for little to no reason, or show the complete wrong emotion, etc. Bots can be touched and behave like normal humans physics wise (i.e., if you grab their arm and lift it, the arm lifts with you and then falls back down) and often times act as avatars for cyber criminals, and there have even been a few cases of exceptionally intelligent digimon using bots to do various tasks, usually less than legal ones, or spread viruses, scams, or hack into things.
With bots spamming union requests, causing people to fall into pyramid schemes, and infecting things with Spyware, the Tamer Unions are beginning spread themselves too thin. This is where we come in. We are essentially new cadets for the Tamer Union of our area. Whether you're there for money, fame, or just because you're bored out of your gourd, you work there now. You're assigned a parter digimon, and you're sent to do some requests while investigating this new bot infestation.
What will you find? Who will you find? What stands in your way? What waits just beyond the horizon? All these questions and more will be answered as you uncover the mystery of this digital dilemma.
Our 12th installment of ideas centers around an organization known as C.U.P.I.D., the Celestial Unified Parliament: Infatuation Division. I'm not too terribly interested in actually playing this one, and feel like it would work better as a game rather than an RP. But hey, might as well write it down just in case. Maybe you could draw inspiration from it?
The Celestial Unified Parliament sends agents out to many different worlds to fight against different types of evils. The Infatuation Division in particular tries to bring love, joy, and passion to worlds sorely lacking in it. This is done in a multitude of ways, from grand performances, playing match-maker, or even using a wide variety of gadgets to give people who need it that spark they need to get going. We, as agents of C.U.P.I.D. would be sent to various worlds in hotspots of apathy, depression, or lethargy to try and give the world their groove back. As far as everything else goes, I'd probably give the players a lot of leeway as to what kind of agent they want to be. Are they a brand new recruit? Do they have some experience already? Were they transferred from a different division? And seeing as these agents come from and travel to many different worlds, I'd explore the species options quite a bit. Are you a human? An elf from a fantasy land? Some sort of bird creature from a city in the clouds? A purple skinned alien from some far-off galaxy? There's just about something for just about anyone.
Our lucky number 13 idea involves the all too classic tale of somebody with amnesia. You know the ones. You wake up in the middle of nowhere and you conveniently only know your name and one other errant important detail. Well, here's my take on the story. It's mostly just a basic skeleton of an idea, this way it can be dropped into anything and customized however. I am John Amnesiac (name pending) and I've just awoken from an indeterminate amount of sleep, only to realize, I know nothing about who or where I am. Thing is, everyone else seems to know a great deal about me. My face is on billboards (or equivalent thereof) everyone knows my name and deeds, etc. Problem is, I still don't have any recollection of any of this. Why do people know my name? What have I done to become so well known? The other player(s) in this story would be helping my character on a journey of re-discovery to help me find my memories and learn just who and/or what I really am. Like I said before, this is an idea meant to be customized and dropped into wherever. This could fit into 1001 different Fandoms, or into just about any time period. Then, of course, there's the reason I'm so well known. Is it because I made a breakthrough in the field of science and discovered a cure for cancer? Was I a legendary hero who defeated a great evil? Am I the richest man in the world? Or perhaps it's an infamy thing, and I am wanted for many horrific crimes, or am being framed for something? And what about the motivations of other character(s)? Are they attempting to befriend me for money and fame? Are they trying to lead me into a different lifestyle? Are they hoping to change who I once was in order to become a better (or worse) person? I'm also open to reversing this role, and letting you be John Amnesiac.
Idea 14 revolves around the Persona universe. As this is just a half baked Idea, I don't have anything too detailed yet, just a barebones idea. I'm not sure if I want to lean more heavily towards p5 or 3/4. The idea of a Persona in the games is that they are physical manifestations of a person's psyche and subconscious perception of who you are, or how others may perceive you. These Personas are Awakened in a myriad of ways, such as having the will to rebel against society and its rules and stigmas, accepting yourself for who and what you are, or by accepting a contract, just to name a few.
To me, however, I saw having a persona as having a will to fight, to stand against all odds, no matter the cost. To be able to use your own force of will to make your goals and dreams manifest. Of course, this would be far too easy of a requirement for a persona universe. You'd have awakenings left and right, and it would just become a normal thing to have. This is usually mitigated by having a separate world that the characters step into where they can summon their Persona. This world is usually locked behind something like a phone app, the hidden 25th Hourâ„¢, or going into a TV. I haven't exactly thought about how I'd have characters enter the Twilight Zone(name pending) in this rp, though the options are plentiful. You could go through mirrors, call a specific number, draw a ritual circle with special chalk, etc.
The main idea behind this is being what you want to be, and having the will to fight in order to get it. Do you want to be a hero who fights in the name of truth and justice for the betterment of all? Do you want to be an inventor, rocketing society into the future with new medicine, technology, and understanding? Or perhaps you want to be an influential leader, guiding the masses towards and era of change, to further the development and respect of your country, or at the very least, the place you call home? You could even want to be a world-renowned artist, known for inspiring creations all around the globe. That's about all I've got so far. I don't quite have a story set up yet, though if it just follows the typical Persona formula, it's shouldn't be too hard to make something basic and then expand from there. I'd be pretty lenient on just what kind of Persona you could have, so long as you could reasonably justify it. Something like the Thunderbird would be a little weird as a Persona, but if you could justify it somehow by your character's motivation being some involving the weather or protection of humanity, I could be convinced.
I'd also need to work out how to summon the Persona, perhaps I'd do something with using a specific item, or perhaps discarding that idea entirely and going full anime and just shouting its name. And as for taking on a different appearance in the Twilight Zone, I probably wouldn't do a full costume change, but I'd like to do something along the lines of taking on aspects of your Persona. Maybe not by physical changing your body, but like in the case of the Thunderbird, perhaps you could draw on the legends, having a cape made of feathers, and a cap in the shape of a bird's head?
So yeah, there we are. Feel free to send me a PM if any if these interest you, or if you have any ideas of your own you'd like to try. This list will probably get updated from time to time, so check back every so often. Until next time.
