"Would you like a slice of cheese with that, hun?"

Yoshi Nakamura looked up from the plate of warm pie, the aroma of cinnamon and apple rising steadily into his nostrils while he looked at the waitress in stunned silence.

"Cheese with pie?"

"Oh yeah, folks love it. An apple pie without some cheese is like a kiss without a squeeze. 'Course if that's not your poison, we can always just throw a dollop of ice cream on there if that'd be more to your liking, sweet cheeks."

"Ah, I see." Yoshi bowed his head and shoulders forward slightly, "I will have the ice cream please, I have a bit of what you Americans call a sweet tooth."

"'Course you do, Sugah." The waitress winked, "I'll be right back with this." She stated lifting the plate and taking it back behind the counter.

Interlocking his fingers in front of him on the table, Yoshi turned his grey eyes towards the diner's window, watching the rain streak down the large pane of glass. Outside, a black sedan pulled into the parking lot, stopping before two men stepped out of the back seat. The driver stayed put, his crimson-lensed sunglasses looking a bit ridiculous on such an overcast day. Entering the diner, the pair of men dusted the water droplets off their long overcoats, the first of two removing his hat before the second followed suit.

Despite fully knowing that Dr. Jonas Lehrer and Director Yakob Kowalski were not related, Yoshi couldn't help but notice the similarity between the two men as they approached the booth.
Probably going to be at least a week until I have this at a launchable state so there's no rush here. Couple of things I want to finish in the lore doc and then I want to have the notable persons all done and my own character before really throwing open the doors.

Pacific Royal Collegiate & University is a roleplay set in an alternate history where an unprecedented coronal mass ejection led to a global blackout in 1967 that resulted in a fraction of the population developing extranormal abilities. This roleplay focuses on a group of these 'Hyperhumans' and their adventures at the titular school.

It's finally the start of senior year.

You will be playing a student who has returned to Pacific Royal Collegiate & University to complete their final year of post-secondary education before departing from the school and heading out into the world. Whether you've been at P.R.C.U. for eight years, or only one, you've finally reached the beginning of the end; your final year before graduating and entering the world to make a difference. Through your time at P.R.C.U., you've been taught, trained and prepared for life as a Hyperhuman away from the safety of the island school. As a student of Pacific Royal Collegiate & University, you have been assigned to a team with which you have spent the last couple of years alongside. Additionally, you also belong to one of the school's eight houses where your assigned dorm lies along with the friends within. Along with a group of other students, you make up the latest iteration of Team 21 - Blackjack, one of P.R.C.U.'s most infamous intramural teams.

The only thing standing between you and your future is one final year of school. Two semesters consisting of classes, intramurals and other course competitions with the world's only other Hyperhuman Institution; the Alexandria Foundation. But rest assured, everything will run smoothly, just as described in the brochure. No doubt just like every other year had previously, it's not like P.R.C.U. has dealt with Hyperhuman Terrorists, killer bees, zombies or any other manner of weird or odd before.

Nothing unexpected ever happens at P.R.C.U.

Still reeling from a Hyperhuman Terrorist Cell several years ago, the Bureau of Hyperhuman Equality, Logistis and Protection is attempting to pick up the pieces of its shattered reputation and rebuild for the future. An asset of the Bureau, the Pacific Royal Collegiate & University was supposed to be a safe haven for all Hyperhumans; where they could train their abilities all while chasing a quality education. Unfortunately, the school was ultimately caught in the crossfire between H.E.L.P. and the Hyperhuman Terrorist known as Hyperion. Hyperion was ultimately revealed to be masquerading as a faculty member at P.R.C.U. leading to a mass exodus from the school in the aftermath.

Due to this, P.R.C.U. has been left in a position where it is vulnerable to potential acquisition by the rival Alexandria Foundation. In addition to this, the rest of the non-Hyperhuman population has yet to forgive and forget, seeing a direct correlation between Hyperion and the school due to the identity of Hyperion being the form director of H.E.L.P. This has led to public tensions between powered and non-powered individuals not seen in nearly fifty years. Between a low enrollment and an ongoing audit being conducted by the Foundation, life at P.R.C.U. might be a little different this year, but that won't stop the former Faculty Advisor and recently appointed Chancellor of Pacific Royal; Jim O'Neil, from making Team 21's final year one to remember.

This RP is based in what I like to call the 'Hyperverse'. It is a soft reboot and adaption of my previous original universes of Vigilance and the Mavericksverse. The biggest difference is the complete erasure of the heroes known as the Mavericks. This is due to the fact I only can claim the rights to one of the characters. In terms of differences from Vigilance, there have been several changes made to Hyperhumans, most notably the redefining of their abilities and limitations, an isolated power source, and a shared weakness. Any and all information relating to the 'Hyperverse' can be found in the linked Google Document.

D O R E A L W O R L D L O C A T I O N S E X I S T?
Simply yes, while Pacific Royal Collegiate & University itself is a fictitious institution, it is still set on the very real Dundas Island off the coast of British Columbia and the country known as Canada. Real-world cities such as New York, and San Francisco, all exist with no changes outside of the Hyperhuman population and minor technological advancements made in the lore.

I envision this RP as more of a parallel universe. I'll be cherry picking events and plot points from that RP as I see fit and pending the submitted characters and their players' desires. However, I also want to move forward with a fresh slate and plot that are completely separate from the previous plot surrounding Hyperion but spring boarding on some of the aftermath from this RP's version of that plot's conclusion.

A R E N E W P L A Y E R S W E L C O M E O R I S T H I S O N L Y F O R R E T U R N I N G P L A Y E R S?
As mentioned above, I see this RP as a way to have a bit of a clean slate. Thus, my desire is to have a mix of both new and old players to give the RP some fresh twists. If the RP was only going to be returning players then I would simply do a continuation. That is not this RP's priority or main intention.

D O I H A V E T O R E - A P P L Y I F I ' M U S I N G M Y C H A R A C T E R F R O M T H E P R E V I O U S R P?
Simply yes. You may bring in your original character, however as 'Commencement' is not intended to be a direct sequel, nor directly connected to the 'Future Agents of H.I.T.', characters who appeared in the latter are subject to re-evaluation for this roleplay. This is to make Commencement welcoming to new and returning players so that everyone has an equal opportunity during the application process.

C A N I M A K E A N O R I G I N A L C H A R A C T E R?
Yes, in fact, that would be preferable to adapting a character originally conceived for another RP. However, there is no penalty for re-using a character and it won't slow or affect your acceptance. As stated above, I've put a lot of work into crafting this universe and would prefer concepts built specifically conceived for this roleplay.

H O W M A N Y P L A Y E R S W I L L T H E R E B E?
The aim is to gather between seven to eleven reliable players plus myself who will make up the returning students. If need be we can run the RP with as few as three. New players can be added down the road if our numbers dwindle and cause the RP to cease moving. If however, we keep a full roster or a consistent pace, there will be no need to recruit and no new acceptances will be made.

W I L L Y O U E X P A N D T H E R O S T E R W I T H O U T N O T I C E?
No. The RP will stay limited to the original number of players. Recruitment will only be made if there is an agreed upon need by both players and the GM and if the plot makes sense for new characters to appear.

C A N I H A V E M U L T I P L E C L A S S I F I C A T I O N S?
Hyperhumans are only ever one Primary Classification, with one Secondary Classification. This means any abilities that your character has must be justified under the single secondary classification. Characters may not have more than one Primary or Secondary Classification. This system was developed intentionally to move characters away from being a 'Superman' and more in line with Marvel's 'X-Men'.

C A N I U S E M A G I C?
Characters in this RP are required to be Hyperhumans only. That said, no you are not able to use magic or gain your abilities from any other source. This means you can not be a vampire, werewolf, alien or demi-god.

C A N I H A V E M O R E T H A N O N E C H A R A C T E R S?
You may only have one primary character in this RP, however, you are encouraged to develop a cast of secondary characters to interact with and challenge your character. It is more than welcome for each character to come from within different courses, programs and school teams. In the event that your character has died in the IC, you may create a replacement player provided you weren't removed from the RP for any of the reasons specified under the rules.

C A N M Y C H A R A C T E R B E B A D / E V I L?
Your character should struggle with morality, after all, suddenly being gifted with powers above those of mere mortals could lead to some overwhelming temptation whether to get revenge or use them for self-gain. But that said, your character should not spiral out of control, or at least the group should step in before then. The overall idea is that our characters do become forces for good in the end. Keeping in mind the setting and organizations involved, were your character considered to be a threat to society, they'd be arrested by H.E.L.P.

C A N M Y S E C O N D A R Y C H A R A C T E R S B E B A D / E V I L?
You are free to do as you wish with secondary characters. If you wish to mould them into an antagonist for the group you are encouraged to consult me and we can collaborate on how to make that happen. There will be opportunities for characters to shift alliances and become more antagonistic as the plot unfolds.

W H A T W I L L T H E P L O T B E L I K E?
The plot will follow a new group of students who have recently arrived at Pacific Royal Collegiate & University. The RP will follow the typical 'super school' formula, using a balance of slice-of-life, school and superpower tropes while also building to a larger overarching plot. In this plot, characters and players will have a chance to uncover secrets that could shake the institution to its core. There will be moments of surprise, and betrayal. Ultimately the group will be given the chance to take to the field and test their mettle.

C A N M Y C H A R A C T E R D I E?
Simply put yes. There will be moments in the RP where character death is entirely possible and I would like to treat these moments in as real of a manner as I can. Treat your character as vulnerable, and think through actions. If your character is vulnerable to gunfire and incites someone to open fire, they will be shot. Going into this RP you should know that in the event one of these situations arises, I will not ask if I can kill your character, I will simply do it. Abandoned characters will often be turned into cannon fodder.

I F M Y C H A R A C T E R D I E S, A M I O U T O F T H E R P?
Absolutely not unless you had abandoned your character. An abandoned character means you've likely dropped the RP, or missed your posting deadline thus meaning you're out. If your character died by circumstance you are free to either make a new character or promote a member of your secondary cast to a primary role and continue as part of the RP. I also understand bowing out after the death of your character though.
Alright, I'll wait to see the finished sheet. I won't be making any judgement on sheets obviously until the RP is ready to launch.
In that case, after looking at powers on the superpower wiki. I found one I might use. Basically, my character would be able to create and control golems from a substance they are able to secrete from their skin. While also able to coat their body in said substance to act as armor and to buff their melee attacks. That is all I have at the moment, other than the limits of how many golems they can control at once or how long it takes to make one.

If I were to impose a limit on that; not that I like doing that sort of thing, I generally prefer to trust the player to a) create an over powered character and b) to not abuse their abilities to be game breaking, it would definitely factor on how strong and durable the substance golems ultimately are. Theoretically they should have a limited mass they can work with since the substance has to be stored somewhere. So sure, we could assign an arbitrary number to the golems, it would be far more to look at it from a quantitative perspective of how much does each golem consume? The bigger or stronger the golem, the more substance they'll require. Especially if said character wants to be armoured at the same time. Smaller, squishy golems could be more plentiful but suffer in the durability and strength department. Ultimately based on the above description there are too many unknown factors to give a hard and fast answer.
Fricking A, despite the unknown finish date, and you are still working on it. I am thinking of what character and power to play if I do not go with Efraim.

Feel free to use this space to bounce ideas or ask any questions as needed. I'll be working away here and on the doc when I can.
Good new stuff. Pretty much have my sheet done.

"Kid's always got his head in the clouds."
The day that Lorcán Kendall Roth was born was the day that his father, Aiden Roth turned in his badge to the Bureau of Hyperhuman Enforcement, Logistics & Protection. The product of parental abandonment, Aiden swore always to be available to his son and couldn't risk constantly being deployed by the the Hyperhuman Investigation Tactical Unit. Resigning as a Field Agent, Aiden and his wife, Victoria 'Tori' Roth moved from the Bureau's base housing into the Alumni Village on Dundas Island.

Lorcán ultimately would be born on the mainland at the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital, arriving on July 18, 2008, at the unholy hour of 5:32am. Raised in the Alumni Village, Lorcán was homeschooled from an early age, surrounded only by Hyperhumans that made up the community of the Alumni Village. In many ways, Lorcán led a very sheltered life, living among only the people who loved and accepted him wholly for who and what he was. When he was old enough to be properly enrolled into the Pacific Royal Collegiate program at the age of fourteen, he finally began to interact with people who had faced the adversity of the mainland simply for existing. Lorcán's eyes were slowly opened to the privileged youth he had thus far experienced and his wanderlust for the world beyond the school and its island was awakened.

With that wanderlust came first the interest in aviation, then the passion that fueled Lorcán through numerous classes of mathematics and physics that would have otherwise put even the studious young adult into a slumber to rival that of the fairy tale princess.

During Lorcán's junior collegiate year things began to change both at P.R.C.U and on Dundas Island. The Hyperhuman Terrorist known as Hyperion directly attacked Pacific Royal. This was made worse by the reveal that Hyperion was masquerading as Dr. Jonas Lehrer, a man who had been like a grandfather to Lorcán. In the aftermath, neither Lorcán nor his parents could accurately determine when the Jonas they knew had started being Kowalski, and the feeling was sickening for the family. His father, Aiden, in particular, carries a lot of guilt for not seeing through the deception.

Graduating from the collegiate program and embarking on a new adventure of higher learning, Lorcán enrolled in the aerospace engineering program. Despite his schedule being burdened with studies, Lorcán still finds time to participate in various athletics include Intramurals. Assigned to Team Blackjack, Lorcán made quick friends with his teammates, at least from his perspective. The last three years have been a whirlwind, but there is one thing that remains a constant.

Blackjack is always the wild card.

"Uniform is mandatory, I'm really more of a Cobain or a Dean."
Before his final year at Pacific Royal, Lorcán had always sported his hair in a long, flowing mane of locks. However, in the summer following third year, Lorcán opted to cut it short and has been slowly growing it back out since. The change was drastic enough that when he first came home even his own parents didn't recognize him. Naturally sandy brown, it tends to border on blonde or even red in some light due to bleaching from both the ocean and sun. His hair is wavy and generally tousled from the ocean even when cut short.

That aside, Lorcán himself is a young man of average height with a lean muscular build of someone who engages in regular athletic activities. His hair ranges from a sandy brown in the summer due to discoloring by the sun and salt water to more of a chestnut brown during the winter months. He has a fair complexion, maintain a fairly healthy diet. Lorcán isn't one for big meals, instead grazing throughout the day and is rarely without snacks on his person.

His eyes are orange in colour, appearing copper in duller light and nearly fiery in direct sun. Though more often than not, Lorcán covers his eyes with a pair of red lensed aviators. These are often paired with an old black H.I.T. ball cap that is always either on Lorcán's head or tucked in his backpocket. His other usual accessory being a small rucksack.

On his left arm, Lorcán sports a scar from his own lightning, leaving Lichtenberg Figure decorating the surface of his bicep and elbow. Otherwise Lorcán has several small scars from various dirt biking, surfing and Hyperball accidents. His right arm on the other hand is covered in a three quarter sleeve starting with a Vegvisir on his shoulder that leads into a wyvern flying above a tall ship riding a wave coming out of a map that breaks up into a flock of birds and ends in a phoenix just below the elbow on the underside of his forearm. The entire piece is done in a monochromatic palette. He has both of his ear lobes pierced, though rarely has anything other than two small black studs in.

A fan of layers, when out of uniform, Lorcán is rarely caught without a an adaptable outfit due to a lifetime of living on the island. He's prepared for the heat of the day while also having a jacket or pair of pants on hand. On a cool morning he'll layer pants over his shorts to tear away later in the day. Likewise with shirts in that he'll wear a button up over a t-shirt or tanktop and adjust with the day's temperature. His personal taste calls for a reliance on the colour blue with garments made primary of leather and denim.

"Y'know, cursing is a sign of a weak mind and weaker character."
Born into a privilege that few other Hyperhumans have ever experienced, Lorcán grew up surrounded by acceptance and support in an environment with everything he could have ever wanted or needed was provided.

To some, this makes Lorcán entitled. He doesn't understand the value of money, he doesn't understand the distrust of another or the anxiety of living in a world where you're hated. In many ways, Lorcán is the product of a utopian society.

As a product of his environment, he's a calm and confident young man, but not the point of arrogance or cockiness. Lorcán reacts first and foremost out of kindness, seemingly void of most ulterior motives as acts of greed or self-gain have never been motivators for him.

Lorcán possesses a dry wit, often making wry comments if attempting humour. He is burdened with wanderlust, wanting to explore the world that is so foreign to him. An optimist in most situations, Lorcán balances this outlook with a heavy dose of realism, especially in the wake of the disenchantment his semi-charmed look undertook in hindsight with the events of Hyperion.

A born mediator, Lorcán has a long fuse and is usually very slow to anger but explosive when his limit is reached. He's not easily discouraged, borderline stubborn in most situations, but wallows and broods when brought down. He's not without a jealous streak, nor an overprotectiveness and the combination of these two can lead to a fiery outburst.

He's a hopeless romantic but shy. Lorcán is the kind of guy to make you a playlist or write a poem but not the kind to pull off an epic prom-posal. Sweet, kind and tender when comfortable, cold and distant when uncomfortable.

Lorcán possesses the ability to rapidly increase temperature through the manipulation of HZE ions in the surrounding area or objects. This ability allows him to create and release fire and when concentrated, focused into sustained plasma or even lightning though the process of thermal ionization. Alternatively, Lorcán cause the air, bodies of liquid or other objects to rapidly increase in temperature to the point of boiling, melting or otherwise destabilizing. Due to his abilities, Lorcán runs hotter than the average human, to the point that rain and snow on his skin will produce steam. When using his abilities, Lorcán is protected from the extreme heat by a shield of electromagnetic energy created when his abilities are active.

As Lorcán's abilities produce anything from a simple flame to a gout of lightning, the temperatures he produces range from 900°F to 50,000°F. In the case of lightning, it cannot be sustained as even Lorcán's protective barrier will not last against sustained temperatures of that magnitude. The heat can also be invisible and simply limited to increasing the ambient temperature or focused on increasing the temperature around or within a specific target.

Like most Exoteric abilities, Lorcán is dependent upon HZE ions being present and in the event they aren't, he will expend his stores rather rapidly through the nature of his abilities.

Lorcán can expel his abilities from any part of his body, though it is easiest to control the expulsion through striking surfaces such as his fists and feet. Due to being tutored by his father, Lorcán is also able to focus his eyes and use them to ignite the HZE ions in his direct line of sight. In addition to the obvious offensive applications of his abilities, Lorcán can focus them in other applications such as using a concentrated plasma beam to cut metal, or creating a rapid expulsion to boost his jumps or superheating the air to slow a fall.

L I M I T A T I O N S || T B D

Lorcán suffers from the shared limitations of all Hyperhumans such as access to available HZEs, stamina limits and synchronization with the Hyperhumans around him.

His personal limitations revolve around control and range. As his abilities are built around raising the thermal level in his immediate vicinity, Lorcán has to focus to reduce the range of his abilities to produce effects such as fire, plasma or lightning. The wider the range of effect, the more effort it takes to increase the temperature and the more draining his abilities are.

With a wider area of effect comes the increased risk of friendly fire this requiring Lorcán to retain tight reins on his active abilities and an intense focus to direct his abilities to ensure there are no friendly causalities.

Lorcán can produce gouts and blasts of fire in a melee range without much effort, but a ranged attack like a blast of lightning or a fireball takes focus and more importantly time to produce and direct. Once it leaves Lorcán, he is no longer in control and it will travel along its directed path.

W E A K N E S S E S || T B D

Like all Hyperhumans, Lorcán is vulnerable to Electron Beam Irradiation. When under an EBI assualt, Lorcán abilities are disrupted, as the HZEs in the immediate area are neutralized. Likewise, Lorcán has a very difficult time using his abilities in extreme cold or in situations where the temperature is being driven down, actively working against his own abilities.

While Lorcán could theoretically create lightning in a space without oxygen, he could not create fire. In a vacuum, however Lorcán would be actively working against the freezing temperatures not to mention unable to breathe.

Were Lorcán sprayed with, or covered by a fire retardant, his abilities would be severely hampered if not completely nullified. Likewise, constantly being doused with water would prevent Lorcán from producing flames or raising the temperature to his full potential.

Lastly, Lorcán's abilities don't grant him any additional durability thus leaving him vulnerable to physical attacks from blunt, edged or range weapons. Nor does Lorcán have any sort of protection from mental attacks from Hyperhumans who possess those abilities.

"Don't be ashamed to want more." Lorcán answered, leaning back with crossed arms over his chest. His feet pushed up against the legs of the table between him and the interviewer, rocking the chair he sat on back and forth subtly as the interviewer waited for a further answer.

"P.R.C.U. can't be your only pursuit. Classes are great, intramurals great, but make some friends, and have some fun. Skip a class or two. Slow down, breathe in the sea breeze and watch a gull fly." The young man continued.

"Take the time to enjoy the moment, be present in the present. Then, find a way to make the world better than you found it. Invest in people, and leave them better than you found them. Let others invest in you, open up, let them in and maybe they'll do the same for you. The school might be an island, but each of us can't be and that's the only way we're going to make this world better for everyone."

"I started here at the age of thirteen." Lorcán answered with a wry smile.

"My aspirations weren't exactly a forethought, at the time the idea of being a H.E.R.O. or a H.I.T. agent was the appeal. Use my powers for good, save other Hyperhumans, fight bad guys. Y'know cowboy antics." Lorcán leaned back against his chair considering the second part of the question.

"Fundamentally, I think I was always yearning to see the world beyond this island. That hasn't changed, but the idea of conflict and bureaucracy is fairly draining. After everything with Hyperion, I'd be just as happy on a sloop sailing the world."

He straightened up suddenly.

"But," He began, "My Dad from a young age instilled a sense of duty and obligation to help where it's needed, whether it's asked for or not. And this world needs H.E.L.P., whether they know it or not."

Lorcán sharply inhaled, his orange eyes darting from the interviewer to the blinking red light on the camera. A face came to mind as he thought, his heart began to beat a little faster, his face flushing as his already high body temperature soared even higher. Centring himself, Lorcán slowly exhaled as he cultivated his answer before raising his head to meet the waiting eyes across the table.

"Don't wait until your final year to tell the girl you like her." He answered with a half smile, his eyes darting to the left as memories of the last few years came flooding back. Missed opportunities beneath the stars of the Southern Plateau, fleeting looks during Practical Ability Training, shared notes and borrowed pens in class. Her smile lit up his world and his name had never sounded better than when it came from between her lips, but alas, Lorcán for all his bravado had never attempted his true feelings for her.

"Because you never know when it'll be too late."
