Dungeon Exploration

• Dungeons are dangerous places. Every 10 minutes, or when the PCs make alot of noise, an encounter check is made to see if anything notices you.
• Dungeons are often dark. Light sources will be required to explore most places.
• If PCs think they've missed something, they can choose to spend 10 minutes to Search. This check has a chance to fail.
• You can try to Listen at Doors to hear if a monster is behind it. Some monsters, such as undead, are silent. This check has a chance to fail.
• You can try to move silently to sneak around. This check has a chance to fail.

Wands

Notes on Wands:

• each wand has at least 6 charges
• charges can regenerate at sunrise
• each wand has a unique quirk that could be harmless, dangerous, beneficial, detrimental, or just plain strange

This is a rules lite tabletop-esque rp with magical hijinks baked in.

We're in an initial dungeon but it is possible to go off on a romp elsewhere if you dare/are so inclined.

As stated, this should play a little more like a forum game then a standard rp.

Congratulations on graduating from the Magical Academy.

We would like to remind all graduates that attempting to run away from repaying the astronomically exorbitant student loans is not feasible. We will find you on any plane.

Following the hasty closure of the legitimate Demonic Indentured Servitude Upliftment Initiative, we would like to offer a select few graduates the opportunity to clear all debts through our Artefact Quality Control program.

Despite rumours to the contrary, this scheme is perfectly safe!
Once you have signed this liability waiver in your blood, please review the details of your assignment:

• You are required to test and document all 300 wands of magic missile assigned to you. Each wand has a happy little quirk which must be discovered and documented. Please note: These wands are considered Academy property. Any damages acquired during the duration of the assignment will be chargeable.
• Dungeon X-BETA-Y02K63 in the material plane has been reviewed to be an adequate testing ground for aspiring Arcane Masters! While clearing the dungeon is not a requirement and graduates are free to do as they wish, please be informed starvation due to loss of funds is not recognised as an extenuating circumstance and unnecessary deaths will result in penalty charges. Adventuring has always been considered a lucrative time honored tradition that is perfectly safe for any capable spellcaster.
• In recognition of your [MILDLY ACCEPTABLE] performance in prior years, you have automatically been enrolled in our cloning program!
• Our welcome package, Carl, awaits your arrival on the material plane with some nifty little life saving supplies.

About:

• This is a lighthearted D&D-lite inspired game set in a generic fantasy setting. It is intended to be closer in style to a forum game rather then a long advanced style RP.
• There is randomness, eldritch mutation and character death. Try not to spend all your clones at once.
• Characters start as Level 1 Human wizards with no spells and no prospects. What you do in the big wide world is down to you.
• In order to level up, loot must be acquired and returned to civilisation. Mechanics will be explained as needed as we progress.

Think it'll take a little bit of time for me to gauge the right level of information to give before more thorough investigations

@rocketrobie2 You take a few wands and pull out a neat bundle of 50 foot rope. Underneath, you can see other items - tinderboxs, bedrolls, various assortments of tools that could be used for cooking, mining or writing.

You pat Carl. A fly buzzes past Carl's twitching ears. He gives you a long, withered look, his gaze encapsulating the death of a hundred burnt out stars. Carl has seen some shit.

His tail swishes once in recognition of your reassurances.

@Dark Cloud You descend the staircase beside the waterfall onto a sandy beach in a natural cavern open to the sky. Nearby, 16" high Redcap monkeys lounge and play. Some dive into the crystal clear pool to the west. Others lounge lazily on the sandy beach. They chirp happily to each other.

To the North-West is a pitch black passageway. Beside you to the east is a tunnel that bends out of sight, lit dimly by a pulsating purple-orange glow.
