@Dark Cloud@rush99999 *facepalm* can't believe we're only a turn in and I'm already getting my tongue twisted with the Bass Buccaneers and the Brass Bucketeers... XD
Moved to Free, instead of keeping track of your inventory in your posts you can post your Merchant in the CS tab. One player will need to post your Company contract and post Company Inventory (which is currently Unamed Ship, 0 Sovereigns)
Still debating whether to post turns on the IC tab or OOC
Anyway, time for a Swordfight! I'll let you duke it out yourselves, if you hit a stalemate well use the guild dice roller. Roll 1d6.each and highest wins
Once your ship is named you can set its destination to Sandland, hazaar!

Selling to Market: You can sell your goods to market wth any readable variation of the command below: >Sell to market In the case of The Gentleman of Fortune Company, it must be agreed by all three members when to sell. But once it has been agreed only one member needs to type the command. Then, each member immediately receives an equal share as per their contribution as per the contract (aka y'all get an equal share currently because you all put in 3 Sovereigns). Selling goods is always successful, you do not need to wait for the GM to confirm.
New Explorers: Occasionally NPC explorers will have an inkling of new destinations and seek funding for their voyages. You can Donate to an explorers with any readable variation of the below command: >Donate
A sufficiently large donation will guarentee that the Explorer will sell exclusive rights to their charts. The merchant who submits the biggest donation receives the charts. Just like with ships, companies can crowdfund to ensure the exclusivity target is reached. Merchants and Companies can lend, trade or create contracts for use of their charts as they wish. *In the event multiple Merchants or Companies competitively bid for the same exclusivity rights, the largest bid wins and the smaller bids are refunded.
In the case of the exclusivity target not being reached, smaller donations can still add to the likelihood of the journey succeeding. The crown looks kindly on those donating to the good of the kingdom, and these selfless endeavours may sometimes generate Royal Favor. If the exclusivity target is reached by another donator, all small donations will be refunded.
Royal Favor: It is always good to be in with the Queen. Currently, Royal Favour cannot be spent on anything, but rumours swirl of it's priceless value... What doors could this open for you in the future?
Fishing: While waiting for ships you can pass your turn by fishing. Fishing has a chance to fail. You can fish with any readable variation of the below command: >Fish
The type of fish available and their value is dependent on ocean currents, which is mysteriously and serendipitously linked to what islands are currently known. Curious that. This does mean that the more treacherous far flung islands can lead to strange sea monsters turning up on shore following ships home, but that kind of long term thinking is for the buffoons of the future to deal with, huzzah!
Sacred Animals: Every Port Town is known for a Sacred Animal that grant bonuses when acquired. Hunting an animal has a chance to fail. You can discover Sacred Animals with any readable variation of the below command: >Hunt
The exact nature of the bonuses granted by the Sacred Animal will not be known to you until a successful hunt is completed. But details of it's boons may be gleaned from rumours circulating about it.
Merchants tend to remain in the Capitol rather then risking their lives on far flung voyages. So Merchants can employ Envoys to hunt animals in their stead in various ports around the world. Some Envoys will be free, but hunting dangerous animals may incur a cost.
This is a Risky Ventures style game, shamelessly pilfered from the Bay12 forums. In this game you buy ships, send them on expeditions and get resources to sell. Anyone can join at any time.
They say the storms were a curse from the gods for our hubris. The great and Glorious Empire had expanded to every island, nook and cranny in search of greater and greater riches. They say the great fleets were made of pure gold with sails as soft as clouds. In those days, monolithic galleons would return laden with fruits from paradise and metal stronger then dragon's teeth. Even the poorest man had a solid diamond chamberpot.
But then the storms came, cutting off the Capitol from the rest of the world, destroying any and all who dared brave the seas. As the centuries passed, the decadence of that golden age became a hazy dream, and the Crown and people grew poor and bitter.
But not anymore, what-ho! The great storms have cleared and the Crown has, in its magnanimousness, declared an age of exploration and reclamation! To reunite the lost settlements and regain access to those shiny shiny resources that most definitely rightly belong to the glorious Empire.
But what to do? The priceless sea charts had unfortunately been -ahem- repurposed during various periods of shortages over the last few centuries, and the art of ship building has become a bit of an artisanal craft. Even the greatest merchants shall have to pool their resources should they wish to brave the unknown seas.
But fret not, for there is surely a great deal of coin to be made. While the oceans are treacherous, the further islands are rife with untouched spoils, should you find a way to chart a course to them. How to Play You are a merchant with 3 freshly minted Sovereigns burning a hole in your pocket, the absolute tragedy.
You can use them to buy a ship, which costs 9 Sovereigns.
You can name and send that Ship to different Islands, which produce different resources. They will happily exchange resources for worthless trinkets.
You can choose which islands to send your ship to, based on what charts you have. Further away islands will typically yield more profitable resources, but the journeys are more dangerous.
You can sell your resources at the Capitol for profit.
Some islands will have old Empire settlements on them, who will buy resources for different prices then the Capitol.
During the game, new options and locations will unlock. The market fluctuates and random events will happen.
But wait! I don't have 9 Sovereigns! Eegads! You can pool your resources together with other intrepid merchants to acquire your fleet. To do this, it is recommended you draw up a contract in which you receive shares of the profit equal to your investment. Your contract can look however you like, but is basically just clear terms everyone agrees with. You can be involved in multiple different ventures - have your thumbs in many pies, so to speak.
We, the Benefactors signed below, hereby charter the creation of "The Happy Trails Company".
Resources gained are to be split equally between members according to their contribution. Where resources cannot be split evenly, individuals may bid for the resource, or leave it in the company inventory.
Alterations to these terms require a unanimous vote from all active members.
These undersigned agree to act in good faith with the above terms, and contribute the following: Ships R Us - 3 Sovereigns Definitely Merchants, not Rats - 3 Sovereigns Her Majesty's Glorious Explorers - 3 Sovereigns
To join in, simply paste the below. Please keep track of your inventory during the game at the bottom of your posts:
[Company Name] Sovereigns: 3s Ships: 0
Finally when you make an action in game, please put > at the start of your command. E.g:
>Buy a Ship for 9s and name it 'Haunting Maria' >Sell all stock to market in the Capitol
