I think I have my writing confidence back. Feels like centuries since I could string together sentences.

Vindication comes, so too does peace of mind as I close one chapter and open a new one.

Hi. I'm a role-player/writer who has spent over twenty-one years in this hobby.

I will pretty much write anything as long as my partner is cool with my inconsistent posting pace and momentum. I'm pretty sociable and I make dumb jokes all the time. My favorite things to write is capeshit, anime, space operas, horror, and slice of life/mundane drama. My writing level leans toward minimalism, but I try to give my partners/groups more than enough to work off of. I like to think I am pretty flexible.

I like cinema, music, and animation just as much as I like writing with people. My biggest hobby after writing is pop media analysis. Ask me questions or for suggestions and I'm sure to have something for you. 😎😎😎

Avatar was very impactful, but you are not incorrect that the first season is generally inconsistent with a lot of tonal shifts. Avatar definitely succeeds the most in Book 2 and Book 3 where it feels the characters are growing up with the audience (and I'm your age Fab so I'm not sure that argument sticks its landing), which is a strength of the material. While watching one season is more than enough content, I do think its doing the show a disservice if you don't at least spend more time as the arcs get more mature and at times darker and more nuanced. It definitely does pacing a lot better than Korra or Dragon Prince and it does reward adult viewers well enough.

I think a large part that doesn't help with Avatar is that its reputation is rather inflated due to its influence and significance for [western] animation of that period of time.
I've been in a Genshin hole. It's fun.
Didn't realize Cuties was an animated feature film. Thread creator wants people to move on to on topic discussion, so, do that.

The likelihood of receiving a punch from Maeve after making a fool of her was generally high. Nine times out of ten the result would be violence, screaming, or a combination of both. But for some reason this was that rare times that today was the tenth time out of ten. Maeve had seen Marlowe before, certainly, but the two had never exchanged words in any substantial way. There weren't many quirks of his that she knew about and those that she did hadn't irritated her. It was hard to say.

The look on Marlowe’s face was pale and shocked and Maeve did recognize she was in a sore mood, at least somewhere inside her fire ants feeding on a doe’s beating heart-infested brain she saw that he was fearful and quickly shifted to courtesies and offered his hand quickly to get her back to her feet. To his shock she would uncurl her fists before proceeding to grab his wrist sharply before he pulled her up from the floor. When she found herself standing squarely in the corridor she crossed her arms. Her expression shifted from a scowl to a frown, but not much else.

“What's your problem? Don't you look before you walk?” Her brows pursed, “Huh? Can't hear you. Speak up.”

As other members of the crew headed to the mess hall, Maeve continued to work on the repairs to her rifle.

She wasn’t sure how long it took—five minutes? Fifteen? It was all a blur. All she knew was by the time she finished her stomach was clawing at her like a delvacor with its prey in its crosshairs. She cursed again, and then a few more times before slapping the ionizers containment capacitor down with a loud metal ‘clank’. When that was done she swiped the rifle and put it back in her kit before chugging down the last of her caffeinated microcoffee before deciding now would be a good time to get more coffee as well as something to eat.

“Better not break again or I’m gonna lose it.” She muttered as the door to the armor opened and she made her way down the corridors toward the mess.

However, even Maeve couldn’t have predicted the ironic, stupid luck that she would continue to experience. The pink-haired firebrand had a fast stride and was used to people in the corridors giving her the space she needed when she was in a good mood. Unfortunately, by the time she arrived at a three way intersecting corridor someone else was walking towards her. She couldn’t see them, of course, given they were around the corner that happened to go to the mess hall. So Maeve, being Maeve happened to turn the corner right at the same time another person did. The impact would send her to the floor.

“Mmpf!” She shouted in pain as her butt hit the metallic floor paneling below. Her violet irises narrowed, and she looked up at the person responsible.

She scowled and clenched her fists. Who would fucking dare?

April 7th, Year 1

The two introductions couldn’t have been any more different.

Not that Sakaguchi Akari cared. At all. Her disinterest aside, even Akari could admit Utsubyo wasn’t known for many transfer students. It was the dead-end of dead-end’s, so she supposed the influx of students from out-of-town was going to fascinate a few handful of the students in class; the kind of students who could only think about getting out and going to a big city like Kagoshima or Tokyo, the kind of students who liked to gab and imagine other people’s lives. The kind of people who read way too much manga. The kind of people Akari hated, the kind of people she had known since, well, forever.

The taller girl crossed her arms from her seat at the back of the class as the first of the newcomers spoke their piece. Shimizu Ichika. At least she liked a sport, not that it helped. Liking sports meant that Akari was going to have to deal with her and if there was one thing she liked less than people it was people she had to deal with. She internally sighed at the thought as the girl’s peppiness seemed to insult her very being. Utsubyo would squelch it, eventually, like a damp rag on an open flame. Few people were happy in this rainy, middle-of-nowhere town, and Ichika would have to learn the reality sooner or later. If she persevered like Yun had done all these years then she would be surprised and even more annoyed.

And then came Totsuka Ryusei. A big guy who didn’t really want to be here. Despite being an outsider, he definitely fit the mold of the average person from Utsubyo, or at least personality-wise. Akari was still the tallest girl in the class but Ryusei certainly made it clear she wasn’t the tallest person in class, which was a bit of a relief. Maybe all of the questions about height would be deflected to him instead of her? A good premise to the start of her school year if it turned out to be true.

Akari looked back to their instructor as the two sat down, eager to get this day over with.
