@FantasyChic I'm playing the Fantastic Four as a whole. Nobody had expressed an interest in them in either the interest check or OOC thread and it seemed strange to split them up so I applied for them as a team. It's a bit unorthodox but not unprecedented. I forgot to add my own character to the character tab because I've been trying to do twenty-five things at once since the game started.
The New Frontier: A DC/Marvel One Universe RP

Reed Richards - Mr. Fantastic
Susan Storm - The Invisible Woman
Johnny Storm - The Human Torch
Ben Grimm - The Thing

The Fantastic Four
Lawful Good

"What gives this family its purpose and its joy isn't the destination - it's the journey."
-- Reed Richards.

History:

Reed Richards was a child genius. The child genius. He cracked inter-dimensional travel before he'd graduated from high school. That's not to say that high school was any easier for Reed than anybody else. Without the protection of Benjamin Grimm he would never have made it through. Ben Grimm was from the wrong side of the tracks, growing up on Yancy Street in New York, and rarely attended his classes through high school because he had a college budding football career waiting for him. When an injury cut that short he opted for the United States Air Force instead. The Air Forced turned Grimm from a boy into a man and taught him discipline. For Sue Storm discipline had never been the problem - she had practically raised her brother Johnny after their mother had passed away and their father turned to drink. She too was an excellent student in her own right. Yet she spent most of her time trying to repair the damage her younger brother caused. Broken hearts, broken windows, and broken down cars were never far behind Johnny Storm. He seemed to have a knack for finding himself in bad situations.

And some might say that Reed's space expedition was one. Fortune would bring Reed, Ben, Johnny, and Sue on an explorative mission into space in search of the origin of a green meteor rock that SHIELD had uncovered. External pressure placed on Reed by Fury and SHIELD would lead to a miscalculation in the ship's outer coating and the four of them would be bombarded with cosmic rays that ought to have killed them. Instead the four of them developed incredible powers - Reed the ability to contort his body into any shape imaginable, Johnny literally became a Human Torch, Sue could turn invisible and project hard light construct, and Ben was gifted with incredible strength, though it came at great consequence. Though their ship was stranded in Space for what seemed like a few days, eighteen months passed on Earth and Fury was forced to resign for his part in the expedition.

Upon their return the four were kept under wraps by SHIELD for a time whilst their powers were tested and their radiation levels normalised. An attack on then President-elect would force SHIELD's hand into sending the four of them into the field. They would aid Superman and the others in the battle against Magneto and his Brotherhood of Mutants and in doing so find instant fame. "The Fantastic Four," they would be dubbed by the media, and from there on out the four of them would set about using their powers for good.

Supporting Cast:

The Spider-Men - Johnny considers Peter to be one of his closest friends, along with The Flash, and as such Peter is an honorary member of the Fantastic Four and is often present on their on-world adventures. Ben finds Peter's presence aggravating so now that there are two Spider-Men his patience is even shorter when the pair of them are around.

Nick Fury - Former Director of SHIELD. Fury was the one that signed off on Reed's space expedition. When Reed and co. disappeared Fury was forced to resign his position and went underground. It is unclear whether Fury is aware of their return given that nobody has heard from him since he resigned but Reed has an inkling that Fury is out there keeping busy.

The Justice League of America – The Fantastic Four work closely beside the Justice League. Though Reed and co. often adventure off world and in the Negative Zone, the two super teams run into one another in the field often enough. Reed is particularly intrigued by Lex’s intellect, Sue considers Captain Marvel to be an inspiration, Johnny is close friends with The Flash, whilst Ben is deeply suspicious of Lex and he and Thor have a friendly rivalry of sorts.

Professor Charles Xavier - A close personal friend of Reed Richards. Though Reed considers Tony Stark, Lex Luthor, and Bruce Wayne to be his intellectual rivals, it is Charles Xavier that he admires most of all the New Frontier world's visionaries. The Fantastic Four turn a blind eye to unregistered mutants in spite of the Kelly Act, due in part to Reed's admiration of Charles.

Dr. Doom - Reed's old colleague lab partner and his sworn enemy - therefore the sworn enemy of Sue, Johnny, and Ben by extension. Doom has recently become sovereign of Latveria and as such his attentions have been directed there, rather than exacting his revenge on Richards, and thus the team have had time to adventure, rather than fight off Doom-bots.

Annihilus - Ruler of the Negative Zone. The Fantastic Four bested him whilst adventuring there and ever since Annihilus has lusted after revenge. Unknown to the team, Annihilus is currently plotting his revenge, gathering troops, and planning an invasion of Frontier Earth.

How (if at all) does the Frontier version of your character differ from the original?:

It was on a SHIELD-sanctined space expedition that the Fantastic Four gained their powers. Outside of that, the team's origin is all but the same. There are no substantial changes to Reed, Johnny, Sue, or Ben. They may have slightly different friends (Johnny's friendship with the Flash, for one) but other than that not much has changed. At this point there is no Franklin or Valeria and though Reed and Sue are engaged Reed has pushed the wedding back so many times - all in the name of science, of course - that there are some that think the pair might never wed.

Post References:

When does a reference stop being a reference...
And start becoming a shameless, shameless plug?
Do yourselves a solid and read Pickett County, you sons of bitches. It's good shit.
Lookie there, a joint Fantastic Four-Superman post that's way too colourful.

Oh, I updated the post after the OP to include teams, I could/can also put it in the character tab beneath all of the characters if need be.

Downtown, Metropolis

As Superman touched down beside the Thing a broad smile crossed his face. The last time he'd seen the Fantastic Four they had been fighting off a character that called himself the Super Skrull. Unlike Clark, the Fantastic Four spent most of their time either off-world or travelling through the dimensions in search of advanced civilisations. Richards was the premier mind that Earth had - cleverer even than Tony Stark or Bruce Wayne. The technology the Fantastic Four salvaged from their missions were almost always turned into some new invention, almost always in aid of curing some once thought of incurable disease or something else equally charitable. In short, in a world full of heroes, the Fantastic Four were the real heroes.

Clark patted Ben on the back by way of greeting.

"It’s a pleasure to see you too, Ben."

"Superman, it’s been too long. How are you?" Reed said as he stretched out a hand towards Clark. "You look stronger than before. You should stop by the Baxter Building some time so I can run some tests."

Superman shook his head.

"Thanks, Reed, but I’m not too keen on labs. What brings the Fantastic Four to Metropolis?"

Sue arrived next to her husband, placed a loving hand on the small of his back, and rested her head on one of her shoulders. Though Grimm was the powerhouse of the group, Sue was its backbone - her quiet strength was what held the Fantastic Four together through thick and thin. It had been Sue, not Reed, that had helped Ben come to terms with his appearance. Though her fiancé was often too focused on his research to notice the little things she did for him, it was clear even to Clark that without Susan Storm there would no Fantastic Four.

"Well, we were passing through and Reed decided he just had to pick Lex’s brain about something."

Johnny Storm touched down next to Clark, Reed, Sue, and Ben and gave the unconscious Avalanche a nudge with his foot.

"Looks like poor old Avalanche couldn’t have chosen a worse time to try to rob a bank."

Ben gave Johnny a playful jab in the side. At last, it was meant to be playful. What passed for a playful jab from the Thing was a normal person's sledgehammer to the chest.

"Pah. You can talk, last I checked I was the one doing all the heavy lifting, Matchstick."

Johnny staggered several feet before regaining his footing. There was a burst of flame as Johnny reignited and shot towards the Thing at speed. He rocked Grimm with an uppercut that knocked Ben back a step or two but didn't seem to do him any real damage.

"You want to go, ugly? Name the time and place."

Clark watched on in bemusement as the two threw blows back and force at one another mere seconds after having downed Avalanche. People in the buildings overlooking them had their phones trained on them as Thing batted successive fireballs away and Johnny darted just outside of Grimm's reach. Clark looked to Sue for an explanation.

"Are they always like this?"

He was met by an exasperated look.

"You’d be surprised."

With an extension of her hand Sue Storm created a forcefield between her brother and Ben. The latter tested the strength of the forcefield with one of his rock-like fists before eventually conceding he wasn't going to make it through. Johnny powered down and, convinced the hostilities were done, Sue let the field melt away into nothing.

"You’re more than welcome to accompany Sue and I to the Watchtower, Superman – I’ve heard Lex has made some improvements to the building since my last visit."

Clark turned a blushed red with embarrassment and Johnny let out a knowing chuckle.

"Haven’t you heard, Reed? Big Blue and Lex don’t exactly see eye to eye."

The smug look on Johnny's face disappeared as Clark looked at him, unimpressed.

"Thank you, Johnny. I’m flattered, Reed, but I’m sure I’d just hold you and Lex back. Do make sure to send him my regards though."

Ben's orange rock brows contorted into a frown as he realised that Reed had omitted his and Johnny's name from the trip to the Watchtower.

"Hey! What about us? Can’t we come to the Watchtower too?"

Reed looked to Sue for help and she shrugged her shoulders. Sensing the awkwardness, Reed cleared his throat and then looked to Ben and Johnny with a sheepish grin.

"I’m not sure I trust the pair of you not to break something. You’ll have to find some way to keep yourself busy whilst your sister and I speak to Lex. And please try to stay out of trouble this time."

The sound of Lois Lane's voice in the newsroom across town caught Clark's attention and he reached out his towards Reed with a friendly smile.

"I had better get going. It was nice to see you all again."

Reed shook Superman's heartily and the Fantastic Four stepped back to allow Clark some space to depart. He flicked his cape away from his body and bent his knees. In one bound he took to the air and shot back towards the Daily Planet building. As he flew off into the distance the Fantastic Four watched him fade into the horizon, his red cape fluttering behind him as he went, and Ben Grimm elbowed Johnny Storm in his side with a teasing smile.

"Now that’s flying."
@Vandy I think atop LexCorp is the quickest and easiest way to go with it. Ultimately Lex in charge of the JLA, so having them on his doorstep makes sense, and their being there "brands" them as his. So I'd stick with that if I were you.

When/if a reformed JLA moves it'll give the move - geographically and ideologically away from Luthor - more significance.
I'd prefer something more modernistic but the Hall of Justice works fine for me.

Also, word to my dawg Byrd for having the greatest OOC to IC thread post ratio of anyone to ever do it.
@FantasyChic Whatever changes you make to your character have to be explainable by their having shared a universe with their DC or Marvel counterparts. So you can't completely reinvent the character from the ground up - you have to work within that. That doesn't mean you can't make changes, they just have to be explainable ones. If it's a more obscure character I'd probably look more sympathetically on more changes than I would a big character that's pivotal to the game.

And yeah, it's a good idea to message someone if you have something in mind that mind involve interaction or something.

@Vandy I think a separate building is a bit much. Having the Watchtower atop the LexCorp building works fine. It's not like Lex is going to be selling guns out of his corporate headquarters. He's in charge of a multibillion dollar company that has buildings all around the world. There shouldn't be anything to "hide" in the LexCorp building.
@Vandy I was thinking something like the Sentry's tower atop of the Stark Industries building - except atop the LexCorp building. Still referred to as the Watchtower (despite not being in Space) though.
@Vandy Don't worry, there'll definitely be cause for Lex to break the battlesuit out. It might be a little down the line but it'll be epic enough that it will be worth the wait, I promise.
@Vandy Zatanna it is then.

But on the Lex point, I didn't see Lex himself getting involved in the field. I think it would be good to have Lex "in charge" but not actually part of the team for the time being. I know we've discussed some plans for Clark/Lex down the line, I think his unveiling the battle armour would be way, way cooler at some point later in the game. That way he wouldn't be a Stark clone and it would lend the moment some real weight. You know? "Oh, shit. Lex broke the battle-suit out."
