He pursed his lips, the moonshine burning still as he exhaled at Alexandra's apparent attempt to tease him. He scoffed when she gagged from the alcohol. "Now I see why we won the Cold War. Not quite as tough as us Americans, eh?" He smirked playfully, before realizing she would have no idea what that was. He gave a glance around the group, as he smiled. They seemed to be a bit of a motley crew, but he could see himself at least getting used to these people, if not becoming friends with them. In time, he thought, however weird things may be now, this too would pass, and become a new normal. This thought, in a way, was a bit of comfort that Bart latched onto, the promise of a happiness latter on. It was bittersweet, but it was something.

Bart, who's drink was close to half empty at this point, gave a small laugh and shook his head, as a drinking game was suggested."I don't know if I'm ready for that quite yet." He said. He had two reasons for his denial; one, he knew somebody was dead, so the Emendators had enough on their plate without dealing with a bunch of drunken idiots, two, he was lightweight as fuck. He was relieved, therefor, when the Giant's voice came out from behind him. He turned to face him, as he chided them for the idea. He didn't like the idea of being spoken to like a child, but he put those feelings aside for the moment, given whatever grief he might be feeling.

Bart raised a careful eyebrow, "So, on that subject, what exactly do you have to offer?" He was curious about the exact amenities of where he'd be living. That, and the fact that it was yet another distraction to push him away from the endless carnival ride of insanity and depression that this life seemed intent on thrusting him along. He was quivering a bit, still shaken from what Alicia showed him. He took another sip of his drink, the burn kissing his lips, and cascading all the way down into his stomach. He took a breath, steadying himself, clinging on still.

Martha Waters

Martha was content, waiting, and sitting, until she was interrupted by the voice of a girl. She took a moment to process what was said, Japanese still not second nature by any means. She craned her neck, and saw a bespectacled girl peering at her. She froze internally, crap. She for one, didn't expect to get caught, and secondly, didn't like the idea of being near an unknown factor. She didn't know if this was some civilian, or a fellow magical girl. Best to treat her as a civilian, but be as cautious as she could be.

Martha cleared her throat and stood, "I uh... picked the lock." She said awkwardly, trying her best to seem embarrassed. "Pl-please don't tell anybody! I'm here as a student and I don't wanna go home." She almost whimpered. She figured if she could distract her as much as possible from focusing on how she actually got here, her lies could pass. "It's just.. the city is so pretty! I wanted to see it like this..." She said, quieter now, averting her eyes from her. She stepped away from the edge of the building, ready to transform and engage with the girl if she turned out to be anything to worry about.

Adalene shrugged, "Sounds good to me." She reoriented herself to face Crystal, and smiled, "It's good you that you have someone here for you when you need it." She said. Her dad was always that person for her, as much of a hardass as he could be, she knew that if she were in Crystal's shoes, he'd be the one she'd be calling. "So uh..." She wasn't quite sure what to do with her now, "Is your brother in the city?" She kinda figured he had to be, it wasn't a quick task to get into New York City, unless you were right in the surrounding areas. "What's he do?"

As she lay on the couch, she curled up a bit. This was a much more eventful day than she'd be used to. She did become a bit reclusive since she burned her friend's apartment down. She could continue to dwell on that, but instead of dealing with the fact that she was, technically, an arsonist, she shook her head and distracted herself further. She had tomorrow's dinner with Sarah to look forward to, which would hopefully be fun. She rested her eyes on Crystal, waiting for an answer.

Bart scrunched his eyes together when Sophia asked if he was okay. What kind of question even was that? She was well aware what he'd been through, what they'd all been through. She didn't see what he just saw, but this whole thing was fucked to all hell. His eyes welled up for a second, but he pushed it back. He had to be stronger than that. Bartholomew swallowed hard, and said, "Not now, but I will be." He settled on answering. He got himself up on his feet, and looked towards the Kitchen House. He shook his head at Alexandra, "You seriously don't wanna know." He said, gagging a bit, the taste of vomit still in his mouth.

He chuckled a bit at her last comment, and said ,"I promise, it'll help more than anything after what I just saw." He said, trying to sound lighthearted, but coming through hollow. He forced a smile at her, and hobbled towards the Kitchen House. He shook his head, slinking inside, and seeing Alicia holding a jar of white liquid...? He didn't really know if he should trust any kind of booze coming out of a jar of all things. That would be a step for him, but James quickly encouraged all of them to give it a shot. He sounded enthusiastic, but judging by what the sound of his voice, it was some strong stuff. Alcohol wasn't something he partook in often, but when he did, he went for hard liquor, since if he's drinking, it's pretty much always to get drunk.

Bart went to the table, and grabbed for one of the jars, opting to pour a bit into one of the smaller jars instead of drinking straight from a jar like James. He brought it up to his lips slowly, and recoiled at the smell. Sharp, strong, and reeking of alcohol. He briefly reconsidered this course of action, but steadied himself, and slowly brought the drink to his lips. Bartholomew shuddered, choking a mouthful down, the drink burning all the way to his stomach. He coughed, then gritted his teeth, and breathed deep, continuing to nurse the drink, giving himself something to focus on.

Adalene nodded, noting her distaste for confrontation. Adalene may have been punched a few less times if she shared that trait, but she there seriously was a lot of fun in a good fight. She shrugged, as she took her phone back, saying, "No problem." She shrugged. She went fully into her apartment, "So what'd he say?" She asked, wanting to know if she'd be having a house mate for the night or not. "I can get you a blanket or two and set you up on the couch later if you need to stay." Adalene didn't quite know what else she could do for the girl right now, and so she sat on the couch, and kept her eyes on her.

"By the way, I was gonna make pork chops for dinner tonight, I should have enough for both of us, you're cool with that?" She asked, trying to make conversation. This was a bit of an awkward situation, given that Crystal was practically a stranger to her. Maybe it'd be best if she tried to get to know her a little better. Once everything was cleared up, maybe she could find out what this girl was all about. Waiting for a response, she crossed her arms, and rested her head on the back of the couch.

Martha headed down the ally, and considered transforming and starting her planning now, but she figured she didn't quite need that kind of extra time just yet. No, she'd had her general strategy for a while now. They key, that she thought a lot of people missed out on, was there was no incentive to actually fight, besides in self defense. All she needed to do, would be to wait out until the very end, when others had grown exhausted and then strike. Was it sportsman like? of course not. But she didn't come here to have fun, she came here to win. Stick to the public eye once the Hex Night started, lay low, and if she had to end up on her own, hole up, defend, and wait for a chance to get back among the muggles.

She made her way to the end, crossing into a quieter part of the city, secluded enough to her liking. It was a small street, wedged between two buildings, with exits on either ends leading out to main roads. She exhaled, knowing that conflict, one way or another, may very well end up being inevitable, especially given that she was American. There was a certain home field advantage to this competition, in that she definitely stuck out like a sore thumb, where as she wouldn't have any way to identify the magical girls who already lived here, unless they were parading around in their transformed state that was.

Martha absolutely loved this chance to show off and play essentially what was high stakes chess. Ironically, she never actually enjoyed chess. It was far too structured for her. Sure, she could make her regular plans and know exactly what steps to take to win, but real time strategy games were just so much more appealing to her. In chess, it doesn't matter who's fighting who, a pawn can take a queen, and there's nothing logic or reason can say against that. But in the real world, power is not so easily taken away, relative power was a major factor and made engagements far more interesting. That was why she always gathered information before a fight. If she knew her enemy, not only would that be one more advantage to have, but she knew if a direct attack had any likelihood of working in the first place.

She did hope she'd get a chance to watch some good fights, and in service of that, she decided that scouting out a good vantage point, one that would let her flee into the public if need be, would be a good idea. She stepped towards the building across from her, an apartment complex, and tried to see if the door in was locked.L Luckily, it wasn't, and led into a stairwell, on which she began her trek to the top. As she expected, roof access was locked, but to magical girl, that wasn't much of an issue. She briefly transformed, and forced the door open with her considerable strength, before transforming back. She sat herself down on the roof, and looked out to the main street in front of her, lying low enough to not get noticed. It really was a pretty site, looking down at the city from up here. She took a moment to appreciate it, taking this as a pleasant calm before the oncoming storm.

Bart was about to open his mouth to say he was asking for a clarification, when suddenly, the world started fading out. Feeling a sense of excitement, that this might be whatever his ability is, he eagerly looked on. He found himself in a grassy field now, with a man holding a can standing in the center. He wanted to walk up and ask him if he had any idea what was going on, when something absolutely horrendous happened. He looked on in horror, as the mans stomach began to be torn to shreds, gashes of flesh being ripped and sinew being forced apart. He screamed, falling back on his ass, as he pushed himself further away from the bloodbath in front of him. He forced himself to look away as the world was covered in a flash of brilliant white light, before the world spun around him, leaving him gripping the ground tightly, tears streaming down his face.

Once the world calmed down, Bartholomew looked up to see Lady Evelina sitting next to the body of the man. He wondered if he'd be watching her revive him, but alas, this was to have a much more somber ending. He noticed the other Emendators with her, standing next to her. Furthermore, she was covering the mans face. He frowned at this, unsure what to make of it. It did seem however, that she must have known him somehow. He forced himself up. He had no idea what was going on exactly, but whoever it was, the Emendators seemed to mourn the death of this man. He wished that he knew who he was exactly, but that could be something to investigate later. They clearly needed time to grieve.

Having thought he was done, he was surprised when another flash came over him, and he found Alicia staring at him, but not where they were before. He was just kind of floating now, in a kind of black void. He cocked his head at her, when she asked if his question was fucking answered, tactful as always. He gave a quiet nod. Whatever was happening right now, was more important than him. It was also at this moment that he realized that this was, in all probability, not his power, but somehow related to Alicia's. He did remember she could interact with people's dreams, and maybe that meant inducing them in some way too. As he considered this, the world blended back into view, leaving him standing where he was.

It was at this point, that Bartholomew promptly threw up. He had maybe a second to try to keep it down, but that was to no avail. He had just seen a man murdered, the first corpse he'd seen in his life, and in a gory detail he'd never even imagined. He fell to his knees, and coughed. He placed his hand on his face to find it wet with tears. He sputtered, trying to get the taste of vomit out of his mouth, before using his sleeve to dry his face, saying, "You know what? A drink sounds pretty damn good actually." Which granted, was unusual for him, but damn if what just happened wasn't a capstone to the endless amount of insane bullshit that he'd been through today.
Can we get a rough idea of the layout of the city?
