Elizabeth Flame

Jungle
Skills: Gun arm, Transmutation

As the jaguars made themselves apparent, and they all started fighting them off, Elizabeth did her part and leveled her arm at one of the remaining ones. She didn't have fantastical magic like Runa, but she did have Stark tech, and that was pretty damn close. Drawing breath, she fired and knocked one away, but didn't manage to do much in the way of actual damage. She felt a bit frustrated at this point, feeling like the thing that made her an X-man wasn't doing much in the way to actually help her. She didn't want to be totally reliant on something anybody could have. She wanted to be special.

Then, she got an idea. Reaching down quickly, she grabbed a clump of dirt, and gripped it, watching the color turn from a dark brown to a bright white, and then start to turn clear. At that point, she pulled the ball out to a point, and hurled it at the jaguar, embedding the glass in the side of the beast. That made her feel cool and uniquely useful, and just generally better. Hopefully, this would scare the beast and get it to leave them alone. It shouldn't be easy to move with that wound in its side, she thought, but she didn't know too much about how these creatures worked.

Beth shrugged, "We'll need all the help we can get, so we'll be happy to have you." She nodded shortly. She wasn't about to talk down to those who wanted to help. Exhaling a bit, she said, "Don't mind Dailsy though, she speaks about as well as she fights." She said, giving a playful tug on the hand leading her. At Amora, she shrugged, and said, "And that's all well and good, but people who hold seats of power for so long aren't good." They got complacent, or detached from the will of the people. It wasn't a problem to have elders in her society, people died and the clock turned, but with them all being immortal, the clock was stopped.

Stepping into the elevator, she leaned against one of the walls, before saying, "When we get to her, I probably should keep my mouth shut. If I had to guess, she's still gonna be cross at me after the events of this morning. If you wanna go for it, you'd be my best bet as a communicator, Lara." She didn't trust Dailsy to speak in a way that wouldn't get her to shut down immediately, and Lara was divorced from the entire situation. She'd be able to come in as a neutral party, and hopefully get Runa to work with them to get themselves the best shot at averting this crisis.

And dragons were about where Arthur checked out. He kind of almost fell back in surprise, before feeling paralyzed with fear. His first thought? These things are too big to exist. Looking upon it, he almost didn't know how to process it. It was a massive, scary lizard that wanted to breath fire at them and probably eat them. What the hell was going on today? He was never attacked this often before, surely life outside of camp couldn't be this dangerous for demigods, they'd all be dead before they could even get there. They weren't even in a city or anything, they were in the sky.

Shaking, he didn't even think to throw his knife. It felt like that would be inconsequential at best, or piss it off at worst. It was too big to try to stab, it'd be like using a bobby pin on a blue whale. No, instead, he backed up from the dragon as much as possible, and started shaking when the dragon blew fire at them. This was terrifying, and his heart felt like it was going to beat out of his chest. If Rebecca hadn't put up the shield before, there was a good chance they'd all be dead by now. That realization hit him hard, and he had to actively keep himself from bursting into tears.

To say Oliver was nervous on the flight would be an understatement, it felt like he couldn't sit still, often getting up to pace around the jet. A lot was going to be coming to a head today, and he already knew the outcome of one of them. Looking over to Niah, he said, "Thank you for coming with me Niah, you have no idea how much this means to me." He said, right as the ship landed. Sticking his head towards the door, her took a deep breath as it opened. They needed to talk to Captain Britain as soon as possible, then get to his mother. Even if he didn't end up being a Skrull, he could give them information from when they were captured.

Oliver wasn't even a little surprised to see they had a greeter, and smiled at Betsy, saying, "It's good to be home Miss Braddock, I'm Agent Sullivan, and this is Agent Bautista." He said, gesturing over to Niah. "I hate to rush, but we're on a rather tight schedule, if we could speak to your brother as soon as possible, we'd appreciate that." He didn't want to slip in the fact they would be working around a literal deadline. That felt like undo pressure, especially if this place wasn't crawling with skrulls. He took a moment to breath, missing his home, and feeling almost a bit safer just from being here.

Elizabeth huffed a bit as she was chided by Carolina. She wasn't going to apologize, Runa had snapped first, and she wasn't gonna grovel to her just because she was an Asgardian, or had been here longer. It made her feel even worse then, when Runa had figured something out about this place they'd been trapped in. Crossing her arms, she followed after her, saying, "Well, we'll have to get there then." She knew that three of them traveling together would be much safer than any of them going alone, and her being mad at Runa didn't mean she wanted her to die.

Leaving the cave, Elizabeth called out, "Carlina, Runa has an idea." The ire in her voice clear, as she came upon her, and continued to say, "Apparently we just gotta shout the name of the game in the center of this place, so let's haul it." She said, closing the distance between her and Carolina, clearly not wanting to spend too much time near Runa right now. She had a bit of difficulty in letting it go that Runa was proving herself useful after being rude to her, and yeah, maybe that was on Elizabeth, but she didn't care. The sooner they got out of this jungle, the sooner neither of them had to ever see each other again.

Beth bit her tongue, and as Dailsy and Amora led her away, she followed without complaint. Even at her age, there was a part of her that still wanted something to fight. As far as she was concerned she should be a thane, given her age. She didn't have a disrespect for authority, quite the opposite actually, but at this stage in her afterlife, she firmly believed that she should have authority, and that the leadership these people had was not based on merit, but status. She believed that power was earned, and she hadn't seen these people earn it at all.

Following the two, she said, "I can't believe how stuffy the Thanes have gotten." she said, gripping her free hand tightly, "Let's go find the new brat and tell her what we know." She chuckled a bit at Dailsy though and said, "Somehow I doubt ever the most foolhardy among us would underestimate the end of times, come now." Surely, nobody would look at a crisis and not give it the seriousness it deserved. Or at least, she hoped that the children of the gods would be smart enough not to do that. "But information and time are the keys to success right now, that's what we need to keep in mind."

Oliver crossed his arms and looked at Bonnie, initially softening from her condolences, but hardening after her argument. "Japanese Americans, 1942." He started, "None of us are idiots, we all know what America did, but do you know how they got the locations and addresses? The Census Bureau broke the 20 year seal on their data, and gave it to the executive branch." He explained, "Now, we can say S.H.I.E.L.D will handle the data on powered individuals more carefully, but the argument looks identical: "These people pose an existential threat to the state by nature of who they are, we need to put them all in one place until we can figure out what to do with them." Except now the individuals have powers the world has never seen before. It will happen again, people will get scared, and scared humans might be the most dangerous thing in the universe."

With that, he smiled at Niah, and gave an exhale. He was not in the mood for bullshit, and wouldn't be debating the topic further with Bonnie. "Thank you Niah I... I really do appreciate that." He needed the kindness right now, and the knowledge that this whole skrull situation that had been itching his brain for months would soon come to a head, one way or another, was a comfort. He needed to know if these people, the most powerful heroes on the planet, had been replaced by the skrulls or not. That was paramount, and it was the difference between sleeping easy in his bed, and literal war.

Elizab
Elizabeth huffed at Runa, "Well, fine then." She said, a bit icily. She didn't like being snapped at my any means, so she said, "It's like Carolina said, we roll dice, creatures and monsters invade the real world, and we don't get out until they roll either a five or an eight. Game ends when they reach the end of the board, is that enough information for you?" She asked, crossing her arms, and moving away from Runa and closer to Carolina. She got that Runa wanted to get out, but Elizabeth felt like it was better to just not mess with things. Their friends would roll the right number soon, they just had to wait it out in here.

Elizabeth considered what Carolina had told them, surprised that Scarlet Witch had that kind of power, and even more so that she forgot it. She wondered what she was like in that timeline, but also how bad it could have been. Changing things that much felt bad for sure, but would it be that bad? Mutants had been mistreated for a good amount of time, surely if they were in charge, they'd do it right this time. She knew there were assholes like Magneto, but most mutants wouldn't be like him, or at least, that was how she hoped things would be. Perhaps she had a little too much faith in humanity.

Arthur had to literally try to process what Jason was saying, but he think he got most of it. He really didn't like the reality Rebecca was laying out for him, but he knew it was true. Even if he didn't know before, he was always Hades' son. It did concern him though, that the landmark difference between monsters and gods was the difficulty one had in murdering them. Thinking a bit on what she said, he supposed that between the anarchy of monsters and the tyranny of the gods, he'd pick their tyranny, as it mostly was in his own interests. It still felt wrong and bad though. "I think I get what you're saying..." He said quietly.

Arthur groaned as he heard a roar in the distance. This again? He didn't want to fight any more, but it was that or die, so he drew his knife, ready to face whatever they had to. Seeing something over the horizon, he had the sinking feeling that, whatever this thing was, it was gonna be big. "Well, let's get this over with then, send the monsters to Tartarus and all, right?" He said, looking down at his knife, and gripping it hard. He knew he had to force himself to do this, but he really, really didn't want to.
