I'm so sorry I suddenly went MIA this weekend!! Last trips moving and MAT work to do lol. I'll try and be on consistently Tuesday!
You're fine! I hope moving and work goes smoothly. Remember this is somewhat of a relaxed roleplay, so the deadline of replies is every 2 weeks, roughly, so you know - life happens.
Technical analyst Special Agent Hoffman ───────────── Ray's work experience began at the age of sixteen when he began to work for Mcdonald's and continued to work at the establishment in his hometown till the age of 20. He considers being a trainer at the fast-food establishment as one of his greatest successes. He can talk about it for hours if you show even a little bit of interest in this story.
Though, that does nothing for his work experience when it comes to why he became a Technical Analyst for the Bureau. Starting at a very young age in the era of technology, Ray took an interest in computers, software, and anything that was based on modern and advanced technology. In his early teen years, he began to participate in cybersecurity and other conventions like DEF CON, Black Hat, and more. Along with deep diving into his hobby, Ray was taking college courses for cybersecurity in high school, taught himself how to code, and took official coding classes.
After high school, he went to college to get a degree in cybersecurity and dove deeper into the world of gaining information that you were not supposed to see. A DEF CON convention happened in his early years of college, and a guest speaker from homeland security urged the audience to make his phone ring - he practically egged them on. Ray decided that he could do better and went right on to make the voice app on the phone begin to talk; he got the phone to chant his name "Ray". Being young and dumb, he didn't realize that the guest speaker was trying to look for hackers to get them to work for homeland security or some other type of government section. Quickly, he stopped hacking and tried his hardest to cut the signal from his computer to the phone - too late, Ray! Within the week, government officials came to talk to him in his dorm room. He declined the job offer and quickly tried to hide from the government's eyes.
Three more visits from government officials, dropping out of college, and drug use, young Ray Hoffman began to slip away into the darkness of the world. He ended up moving back with his parents and sticking to his hobby of infiltrating systems.
The Bureau's networking and investigation section picked up on him only months ago. Offering him a job, since he penetrated their systems for the "fun" of it; that's what he said in the interview. Written interactions:
Five months ago
Ray walked into the office with a pearly-white smile on his face, freshly shaved, and dressed to impress. Strutting into the common area, he saw the whole crew except the Unit and Sectional Chief at this moment. Taking a great look at the members in front of him - he tilted his head while pushing his shades down. A cheeky grin formed on his face while he thought about what to say, "Guys, we are going to have the best time of our lives working together!" he practically rocked on his heels while doing finger guns and flicking his head up to readjust his glasses without touching them.
Spinning on his heel, he took out his phone camera, "Now, everyone says 'cheese'!" He shouted before snapping a picture of everyone at their desks. The flash was on and everything, he instantly went to look at it with the childish behavior and excitement he was filled up with.
"Now, which one of you are Chief Neagoe. I need to have a convo with this man," he allowed his finger to swirl around in the air ready to point at someone. With no one answering, he seemed to awkwardly revert into himself but still went with the jesture. "I'm Chief Neagoe," Lucian said plainly while standing on the half-floor above the common space.
"Oh," Ray said while biting his lip, "I love how you dress sir. Did anyone tell you that you look like a god? You know-" Ray was someone who could be considered to be a kiss-ass or talk their way out of anything. Lucian cut him off before telling him to get into his office. "Y-y-Yes, sir. Right away. We can do that," Ray instantly went to walk out the way he came out of a panic response.
Instantly turning around, "Which way is your office?" he asked while awkwardly adjusting his vest. Lucian pointed at the door behind him and Ray waved his finger while rushing over to the boss. "Also, I love your eyes, keep up the good work," he said while passing Agent Samantha Stannis. Turning around quickly to say something to Joseph Thoreau, he did a double finger-gun motion at the older man, "You, sir. I can tell that we will be great friends!" he said while getting huffed at by Lucian. That caused Ray to instantly bolt into the man's office.

Background information Ray was born to Ray and Juliette Hoffman, upper-middle-class citizens that were too heavily set in their careers and had no plans to have children. Juliette never wanted children, and that could show through her mothering skills compared to Ray Hoffman the 2nd, who was a great father to Ray Hoffman the 3rd. Even though Juliette had a rough time through parenting and motherhood, Ray considers her an amazing mother.
The most tragic events to ever happen in Ray's life were the year that his father accidentally ran over his puppy, Timothy, and that other year when he found out that his mother never wanted him because of a big family argument. Other than those two events, he cannot remember any negative things happening in his life which might be the reason he is such a positive and outgoing individual.
I made the NPC character Corbet Kullins. I will make a filler character (aka the tech-savvy) person of the group. I just got to think a bit.
Add-on:
I would like to apologize in advance and inform all of you that I have decided to go with a hipster-themed character for this savvy dude. If it helps I am listening to the 80s-early 2000s soundtrack, so I hope you all realize this young buck might be a complete mistake of a character who is overly cocky and flamboyant. We will see how much fun I can have with this character.
Plus I plan on making him one of the younger people on the team.
Commonly known nicknames, Jackass, You're a jackass and That Bastard usually used by Lucian himself.
Quick Biography: Corbet Kullins has been the Section Chief for about 12 years, give or take some time. Before being the Section Chief of the B.A.U., the man worked for private sectors of the F.B.I. most think he did the same thing as Lucian or other undercover agents. People from all sections of the Bureau will tell many stories about Kullins, at least what they can. Corbet was the head of another section for about 10-years before the B.A.U., which given the stories, he has fired more agents, let go unit chiefs, and disqualified people from the Bureau so much; People have nicknamed him the most difficult boss.
He is known to have a very professional relationship with all of his peers, though he loves to undermind and feel like he is above others, especially when they do wrong. He has an inhuman take on most people, forgetting that they are human and he-himself is not a god.
Unit Chief The flight was almost over, and Lucian could barely smile as the team began to talk more. He understood they had been cooped up in a small cabin for the last few hours trying to figure out this unsub before they landed and now, they were ready to burst out the doors and get to work. Agent Stannis began to talk, so he put his attention on her. Somewhat hastily, the agent asked about talking to law enforcement and not having any interest in going through files - glancing over to Agent Aguilar when these words were said. He wanted to catch the mist of her emotions on this if there were any. Though, he noticed quickly that the young woman was sleeping and he couldn’t help that half attempted to smile to grow a bit more - the old days, he thought. Quickly putting his attention back to dark beauty in the cabin, he shook his head, “You can go talk to law enforcement, but I doubt they have much to say,” he informed the team as a whole even though he was talking directly to Stannis. His main concern about this situation was how law enforcement was trying to deal with it.
Currently, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin only three out of the twenty-two officers they have on the job and call for the local police department was working on this case. The only reason that the sheriff called the Bureau in was that he practically didn’t want to deal with it or waste his men on a wild goose chase. The police department including the head has shown disputes of wanting to deal with such evidence, which Lucian couldn’t blame them, but he was somewhat suspicious that they were already so negative towards the case. “Law enforcement might be difficult to make conversation with. The sheriff practically stated that he was calling us in so he wouldn’t have to waste his time,” Lucian decided to tell Samantha, so she knew what she was getting into.
Lucian was going to try his best to keep an eye on Agent Aguilar since she has never been out of the walls of the government building. This event was her first out-of-town mission, and he was out-of-town going to stand by and watch it go downhill for her. The chief always tried his best to make cases go smoothly for first-timers, not giving them too much pressure, and trying to warm them up to the fieldwork that the job was so graciously entitled to.
When the young agent began to question why Lucian seemed to silently fall into a neutral expression. Why? Why does anyone do anything out of the blue? Running a hand through his hair, he thought before he spoke, and his words were at a lower volume, “Chris, you will realize that asking that question will haunt you more than answer anything in this line of work. Why do you do what you do? To these people, it is the same as waking up in the morning or participating in a family reunion. To you, me, and the majority of others it is murder, pain, and mixed emotions,” he glanced down at the floor while thinking about what he said. Should he say more? This caused him to begin to play with his wedding ring, a common sign that older agents who worked with him a lot knew he was trying to think without overthinking. “Something causes this unsub a great deal of stress, most likely in the past week. It could have been, from what Thoreau said, the maternal figure in his life committed suicide or something bad happened to her. It could be that he is going through a psychotic break,” gesturing with his hand to take it away from his ring, since he was conscious of his habit, “-it could be many different things,” he sighed at the thought. Most of the time, one would not figure out why someone started doing what they did and that was one of the many curses to discover in this line of work.
Clearing his throat, "If you want, I will help you look through files," he offered, so Chris at least felt as if she could ask for help if needed. He didn't need to go to the medical examiner's office, since he knew Thoreau would report back with great details. Interactions: @evierose@Artemis Arts@Lord Wraith
Unit Chief Making his way onto the Bureau's private jet, Lucian glanced back at the team before putting away his luggage. After that, he decided to sit in his usual chair and get comfy for a few hours ahead. Usually, he would participate in a conversation if it was a group, singularly called out, work-related conversation though it appeared to be a quiet flight today. Staying to himself when the plane was taking off was a common behavior from the leader of the team, he didn’t have motion sickness, but he didn’t enjoy the turbulence of what a private jet would go through to get off the ground. Pulling out a book ‘on the Origin of Species’ by Charles Darwin, Lucian was already reading by the time the plane was ready to take off.
Even though he was reading a different genre and not looking at the case file, he couldn’t help to think about the case ahead. Why was someone, who most likely was a middle-aged man attacking middle-aged widows? Displaying them out in high traffic areas for many eyes to witness and report - along the side of not getting caught at all. Along with the many details that were not shared or discovered yet, those details about the sexual assault, assault, and causes of death would help the team understand who they were dealing with more.
Only feeling like a few minutes before Thoreau began to talk and said that he had looked over the case file for most of the flight. Chief Neagoe had to glance at his watch to see the time, they were arriving in Milwaukee, Wisconsin very soon. Putting his attention on the other male of the team, he listened carefully or tried to at least while putting his book away. “You believe that the unsub is taking his anger and frustration out on look-alikes to his actual stressor?” questioning to make sure he was fully understanding the criminologist's thoughts and ideas about this unsub.
Thinking about his words before speaking, he agreed that they should go to the medical examiner, “I agree on the unsub not being more than forty years old. If that is the case, we will want to research old cases that dealt with widowed women, who fit the physical characteristics of these women, that committed suicide within the past fifteen to twenty years,” by researching in this span when thinking about someone who is not over the age of forty or not greatly over that specific age. If the maternal figure committed suicide in the unsubs lifetime it would have been in between their teen and current years of life.
“I’ll go with you to the medical examiner's office, since I want to discuss the cause of death of both victims since it wasn’t stated in the reports we received,” clearing his throat and grabbing the profile, he opened it up one last time to skim through. “Plus, they haven’t filled out a few things that I want to discuss either,” he said more to himself than anyone else.
