Bio

Well now that I got the customary "post once" requirement out of the way....

HELLO

Welcome to my safe space. Well, about as safe as one space can be, I guess. If you are here looking for something, I am very sorry to disappoint you, but I made fresh cookies! Come sit a spell.

I guess I'll do some more in-depth stuff about myself. My name is Nick and I am 33 years old living in Illinois. I am a therapist and clinical responder (which is a fancy way of saying I go out on police calls to provide mental health assistance). Been doing therapy for a few years now and I absolutely love it!

I am a gay, cisgender man. I came out last year in January (smack dab in the middle of a pandemic. Timing was always my downfall). There is still much I am learning, but I am proud and happy to be who I really am and not have to hide it anymore!

I am an avid gamer, especially roleplaying games (cue surprised and shock noises). I also enjoy writing and reading, especially mysteries. I am not new to roleplay, I promise. I have been doing it for years now in different formats. I am experienced, even if it doesn't seem like it.

I use humor as a coping mechanism for sure, but I also like laughing and enjoying myself. Life can be pretty sad and upsetting for the most part and I don't want to add to it.

Whew! That got deep!

I will be poking my nose around in spaces and hoping to jump headfirst into this. Some interests I have in terms of roleplay settings include superheroes, DnD, science fiction/fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, horror stuffs, apocolypse, and espionage. And I am a fan of most things pop culture. If you have any suggestions or possible roleplays you think I would love, please let me know.

Otherwise, stick around! This is gonna get wild!

It all seemed a tad too convenient. They had fought off hordes of demons and were now just sitting down to tea with this random person who promised to send them back as quickly as they came?

Prudence wasn't buying it.

"If I may be so bold, but it sounds too good to be true. I am familiar with deals and people do not hand out wishes without expecting something in return. What is it you want?" Deals with the devils rarely went in the one asking's favor also. Prudence's eyes traveled to Runa, who was engaged with the young girl. It seemed the old woman knew more people here. Just how old was she and how did she get to be so powerful? Prudence found her anger subsiding for now.

Ed mentioned a task needing to be finished, but Prudence did not care. Whatever called her here had better show itself soon or she would find her own way back, Witchfire or no. She may even be so obliged to burn it all around her before she left.

Perry watched as Mary, along with her Phoenix powers, warmed the room up. Well, warm was being nice about it. Perry hated heat and she could feel herself getting warmer, wondering what exactly Mary intended to do. The fire grew and so did the steam from the fire fighting the water. Eventually, it cleared but Mary had moved on. Perry followed Ed into the hallway and saw Mary speaking to another person.

And then Robert had to inject himself into the conversation. "With all due respect, dude. You just joined this merry band of misfits. And granted, I am new too, but I have at least established some connection with them whereas we just met you. As Ed said, she's our friend so we are going to go help her. If you want to fall back and have a little pity party for yourself, by all means. Otherwise join us and let's get the others and get off this stupid rock."

Perry pushed past and made her way to Mary. "Cortez again huh? Dude's looking to get his face punched in again by the sounds of it. But we should go get the others. More fists means more punching."

It took her a minute to collect herself, she had entered multiple people's minds in a short amount of time, but once she did she saw that they had won. She had won. She looked around to be sure, but they had managed to hold off the team. Sabine grinned, running to the others, mainly Danni and Dorian, who had met her halfway. Big smiles on their faces as they complimented her work. "Thank you both! We really did it! And I learned more about myself too."

Her smile faltered a bit as Dorian spoke negatively about his abilities. "Nope. Nuh uh. I will not be hearing any negative talk from anyone. You killed it. We all did. You helped ward off the siren and broke me out of that spell. Without that, I might still be hypnotized or worse. You also helped with Arsene. It was a group effort, Dorian. Accept the compliment and the win!"

And she had to admit Percy and Zelda both proved themselves to be formidable allies. She knew Percy's powers were great, but Zelda came in clutch with the golem. "Everyone did well and you should all be proud of yourselves. This calls for a team selfie, and no I will not take no for an answer!" Sabine got her phone and pulled up her camera, corraling everyone into frame.

She also desperately wanted to see April and Leah. She needed to celebrate with them too.

Once the battle had calmed down, the next sequence of events happened rather quickly. They had come face-to-face with the very being they were after, this Witchfire. What Prudence hadn't expected was to run into more people. Prudence scanned over all of the new faces. One such being a young child. For the first time since being sent here, Prudence's heart softened. She had a soft spot for children since her own childhood was taken from her. It chilled her that the young girl seemed chummy with Runa. She trusted the old lady very little now.

Prudence followed along with everyone, keeping an ear to their conversations to see who knew who. It appeared she was either the only one or one of very few who did not have some history with another here. Why then was she summoned?

Prudence also took in her surroundings. She paid ample attention to the throne, but the table was set for nine.

And this Witchfire. Were they friend or foe? Prudence was slowly finding no allies (though given who she was with, she considered that a blessing) but having fought off hordes of demons, it would be nice to have someone not trying to kill her.

Prudence glanced at the bubbling tea. She tried to get a sense if it was poisoned or magic or something. But it was a tea, unlike anything she had seen before. Either way, she got the sense she wouldn't enjoy it as much as the goblet from before.

"I speak not for the others, but I was brought here almost unwillingly. I would soon return, but I believe that is not possible now."

Perry let her introduction hang in the air as the new guy basically ignored her. That cinched it then, he was a grade-A douchebag. Perry continued to work on the computer until Mary started speaking. It seemed she was going through a lot and given how well this was all going, Perry could only imagine the pressure Mary was feeling. Before Perry could speak up to reassure her, Mary's appearance changed. What was once green turned red.

It was almost like Mary was a different person. And perhaps that was true, given what she was saying. Perry managed to piece it together though. Mary was referring to the Phoenix force. A power to be reckoned with, surely. Cortez seemed to kickstart that when he used his powers on them. Another reason to hate him.

Perry moved forward calmly, attempting to gauge Mary's emotional state. Perry couldn't lock anything down. It was as if Mary's emotions were going haywire and spiraling.

EIther way, it was not good.

"Ed is right. We'll get through this. We just need to calm down and work together. Let's try his plan. And, if worse comes to worse, we can heat things up. But maybe save that as a last resort, yeah?"

Sabine saw Dorian appear, though it seemed her tampering with Arsene did nothing. Or rather, it didn't do much. Perhaps another push would do the trick? But before she could go back in, Sabine noticed that someone was messing with Salah. The other girl, Emily, appeared to be the one on the team that was helping with mental defense. If Sabine had any hope of aiding her team and winning, the girl needed to be taken out.

Sabine attempted to enter Emily's mind, but felt resistance. Gritting her teeth and clenching her fist, Sabine burst forward, finally getting in. "Finally. Credit where it's due, you have good skills. But I'm better." Sabine rooted around for a core memory. She found one where Emily seemed to discover what her powers were. Sabine played around, struggling at first. Emily's mind was tough.

Eventually, Sabine worked her magic. Emily would forget what her powers were. Hopefully, that would give them some time to take the others out or run out the clock and win this thing. Sabine then tried to put up a lock on the memory, but she couldn't do it. Sabine would have to ask about what else she could do with her powers. Would Nemo have an idea?

Once out, Sabine looked over at Danni. "Thanks babe. Zelda did good work. She has a future in this." Danni, bless him, attempted to take out spear guy, but ended up falling on his face. Sabine cringed from second-hand embarrassment. "We're not out of this yet, mon ami. We just need to work together! I got you!"

The force field was a good idea. If for no other reason than because it gave them time to think. They needed to get the stronger players out first. Dorian had similar ideas, it seemed. Arsene would be the strongest given his powers and he would be able to energize everyone else and undo any damage they did. Sabine nodded her understanding as Dorian got to work. Sabine prepared her powers and, waiting a few seconds to allow Dorian to get settled, unleashed herself in Arsene's head.

It was difficult terrain with Dorian being inside also (good to know in the future) but Sabine did what she could to help shift Arsene to view Dorian as an ally (inserting a memory where Dorian was introduced to Arsene and the two had some conversations together) before shifting out. She gave the thumbs up. Hopefully, once Dorian was out, Arsene would do what she expected.

Meanwhile, she locked on to Salah, the next strongest person. The first time was a blow. This time, she opted for something arguably easier. She unleashed herself again, entering Salah's mind. Once inside, Sabine shifted some things around. She implanted a few noticeable memories of Salah just not giving a shit. Whatever tenacity Salah had, it would be overridden by her desire to just want to go home and forget about this whole thing. The girl would give up and call it, leaving her teammates in a lurch. Sabine found it easier this time around. Perhaps whatever protections they had before were dropping?

Once she was back out, she lowered her force field to allow Danni and Percy to do what they needed to do. "Hopefully in a minute we will have turned the tide, but come back here if you need protection."

Perry acknowledged the new face, unsure at first. Granted, it was one guy versus the rest of them, so he would be taken down even if the new dude wanted to harm them. It seemed it was not the case, but she still didn't trust him. Hell, he even admitted he made this facility they were trapped in. This facility, now, was being blown up with water rushing in. And to top it off, Robert made his way over to the computer, the one she was on, and started using it without acknowledging her! The jerk...

"First off, hey, the name's Perry. Second, regardless of where you were before with Xavier, the fact we are standing in a place you built and were brought here against our will doesn't exactly inspire confidence and trust. So you'll have to excuse me if I keep an eye on you and what you do until we get off this rock."

Perry pushed her way back onto the computer while Robert did his thing to find info on Cortez. She struggled in doing so, but managed to find something. In doing so, it confirmed everything Robert said. "He's right. There's nothing on Cortez from before. No one seems to know anything. He and his sister came about recently. And then it goes into his powers. All in all, grade A douchebag with a punchable face. So I suggest we get off this rock soon. Find the others, of course. Any means of escape Robert?" she asked with emphasis on his name.

Seems there were two douchebags with punchable faces on the asteroid.

Prudence felt the tide turn in their favor, if for a moment. Runa had managed to sway the girl to their side as she began to pick off the demon's herself. Soon the hex would wear off and, if all went well, the mind control would be no more. Still, Prudence would keep an eye out. She did not know the girl, after all.

Still, Runa held off the attacks easily. As Runa called forth whatever power she held, Prudence felt, with each word, a fire grow within her. It burned and pushed her to her limits. Eventually, Runa collapsed to the ground. Prudence did not know what it was, but whatever she called forth had decimated the remaining demons. Prudence would ensure Runa paid for using her, if that is what she did. Blind and old be damned.

A horn sounded as another wave approached them. Everyone, even Ed, summoned their own powers to unleash hells on them. So Prudence opted to call forth the storm again. She felt herself push to her limits, the fire Runa summoned probably wiping her energy. Prudence felt faint, but she managed to push through, as a storm cloud appeared and unleashed a torrent of lightning strikes on the demons, obliterating half of them.

The demon's numbers were dwindling, but if they had any hope of seeing this to the end, they would need to turn the tide and quickly.

It was annoying, but it seemed their enemies were good at blocking out mental attacks. Thankfully, Dorian had managed to get most of them under his spell. The toughest seeming one was lost in the song, leaving the others to be dealt with. Percy and Danni were managing on their own, Percy especially using his teleportation powers to defend the hostage, which had been abandoned. Even Zelda was holding her own, though Sabine was sure she didn't want to be there.

Sabine left Dorian to handle Arsene, setting her sights on Salah. The girl was somewhat controlled, but she was not gone and she could be a valuable ally. Sabine attempted to breach her mind, but ended up hitting a wall. She tried again, but came up short. Frustrated, she dropped the pretense. She looked around. The enemies seemed to be able to block mental assaults through her mind. Had they read up on her and prepared? She was not one to lay down though.

Sabine made her way over to the hostage. If she could not attack, she would defend. She unsheathed her sword, holding it up before slamming it into the ground, hoping to produce a force field around her and the hostage. Hopefully, the others could manage the fight. Even if she had to drop the shield, she would be willing to fight them off. Maybe in the onslaught, she could pierce their stubborn minds.
