Bio

Well now that I got the customary "post once" requirement out of the way....

HELLO

Welcome to my safe space. Well, about as safe as one space can be, I guess. If you are here looking for something, I am very sorry to disappoint you, but I made fresh cookies! Come sit a spell.

I guess I'll do some more in-depth stuff about myself. My name is Nick and I am 33 years old living in Illinois. I am a therapist and clinical responder (which is a fancy way of saying I go out on police calls to provide mental health assistance). Been doing therapy for a few years now and I absolutely love it!

I am a gay, cisgender man. I came out last year in January (smack dab in the middle of a pandemic. Timing was always my downfall). There is still much I am learning, but I am proud and happy to be who I really am and not have to hide it anymore!

I am an avid gamer, especially roleplaying games (cue surprised and shock noises). I also enjoy writing and reading, especially mysteries. I am not new to roleplay, I promise. I have been doing it for years now in different formats. I am experienced, even if it doesn't seem like it.

I use humor as a coping mechanism for sure, but I also like laughing and enjoying myself. Life can be pretty sad and upsetting for the most part and I don't want to add to it.

Whew! That got deep!

I will be poking my nose around in spaces and hoping to jump headfirst into this. Some interests I have in terms of roleplay settings include superheroes, DnD, science fiction/fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, horror stuffs, apocolypse, and espionage. And I am a fan of most things pop culture. If you have any suggestions or possible roleplays you think I would love, please let me know.

Otherwise, stick around! This is gonna get wild!

Perry knew it had to be bad, though she still didn't quite get how bad it was when some random dude appeared, spouting off some nonsense. "Oh great, he's a Christian nutjob."

Before she could get off more zingers the man had thrown a bus at them. It wasn't metaphorical, he literally threw a bus at them. They didn't manage to get out of the way, sending them back and being thrown for quite the loop. Perry landed hard, feeling something crack in her wrist as she did. Pain shot up through her arm in that moment.

She stood up, albeit slowly. Perry looked at the man and felt the emtions wave off of him. Anger. Sheer anger. Vengeful anger enough to want all of them before him dead. That wasn't good.

"Screw you Moses!" she said as she sent a blast of spiritual energy forward from her. She didn't quite know where that came from, but one didn't look a gift horse in the mouth, especially as it hit him and sent him flying backward. As she did Barry ran forward and shot his taser at Chrysi, zapping her briefly but not enough to do much else. They had to stop them both if they wanted to get out of this.

Things progressed rather quickly. Sabine attempted to drag Danni away, hoping the others would follow suit. Thankfully, it seemed April focused-up and unleashed her power with the sprinklers, drenching them but putting out the fire. Smoke wafted over them and stuck to their clothing, but otherwise they were unharmed.

Leah cleaned up the remaining water with the use of her runes. It was, honestly, very impressive and very hot, but that had to wait. Sabine had checked Danni, wondering what happened. Given the state of him Sabine assumed he had been injured gravely, though Sabine saw no wounds. Before she could ask she heard a faint sount. What was that...cracking?

And then Danni moved to show what it was. The egg he had been given was hatching.

Which meant a dragon.

Which meant, potentially, more fire.

Danni's mood shifted and Sabine thought, and mentally chastised herself for, that it was rather silly to be in such a panic-stricken moment before to switch on a dime like that. Then Sabine's eyes shifted to April and how she had such a powerful mental block before. There was more going on here than anyone was admitting to.

"Ok well this is all well and good and I am glad we are safe but how about we talk about this outside still, especially with a new fire-breathing cutie here?" Sabine would unclench from Danni, but would still be nearby for support, but they really did need to get out of there.

Verity let the call drop as the dispatcher warned her. Bit? Was the person bit? And what did that have to do with this whole situation? Maybe it was a disease that spread through contact?

As Flynn checked in with her Verity noticed the initial twitch as the customer, who definitely should not be moving, moved.

"Stay away from them!" Verity backed up, pulling Flynn back with her. "They said to avoid anyone who's been bitten. They are sending the paramedics now, but in the meantime our friend here should definitely not be moving around." Verity looked around, trying to catch anything to use as a makeshift weapon in the moment. Twice in one day she needed to defend herself.

I do still want to play but I am also noticing a lack of posts which makes me not want to. I am fine with the "no time constraints" deal but I leave it up to the group.

Sabine shifted from side to side on her bed, making an albeit low attempt at comfort, when she got a weird sense. It wasn't some ESP or mind blip but one of her other senses noticing something. She sat up in bed and looked around, not noticing much else. Then she sniffed the air. It smelled like...burning.

Burning. Fire....

Danni!

Sabine shot up out of bed and ran into the hallway, keeping an eye out for any semblance of fire. She made her way towards Danni's room. There she saw a few people in the hallway. April, Leah, Maddie, Dorian, Diana, Percy, and Danni, who was nearly curled up in a ball. Sabine noticed the smoke smell got bigger here. The door nearby Danni appeared to be smoking. Sabine glanced around and spotted a fire extinguisher at the end of the hall. Booking it over there she grabbed it and mentally cursed herself for never going through basic fire prevention training.

She ran back, pointing the...what was it, a nozzle?....at the spreading fire and tried to use the extinguisher, but it only protested her. She tried again to no avail. "Shit!" She dropped the fire extinguisher and looked around again. Her eyes settled on April. Sabine hated to do it, but she had no choice.

Sabine attempted to go into April's mind, to boost her abilities so she could put the fire out, but something weird happened. It was as it April's mind was...blocking her attempts. Sabine had never experienced that before. Whatever was going on in April's mind...it was bad. Her psyche was residing any and all attempts. Sabine cursed again. "We need to go, now!" she screamed.

Sabine ran over to Danni, putting her arm under his to lift him up to his feet. "We need to get out of here Danni, please don't fight me on this. Someone call the police but unless someone can take care of that immediately, we need to get out of the building!"
@Morose Ok made the edits (though I poked you about the Traits). I also lowered her logic damage as she no longer has the Brilliant powers.

As Sabine walked through the halls, passing by faces she knew and did not know, she felt her pulse quicken. She could almost feel every vein within her push through her blood as it raced into her heart. Had she been given a moment she may have processed things quicker. Easier. Instead she was told she would have to go to therapy and that she was, by all accounts, actually dead and was, instead, a clone; albeit one that remembered everything.

She stopped. Remember. Could she, if she tried, remember what happened during her time in Arcade's game system? She didn't know how memory management connected to reality shifting or time travel, but maybe?

Would she want to though? By all accounts it was horrible. There were only a few people who would remember it and she didn't want to go around messing with their heads. But there was one person who would remember it. One who wanted to make amends.

Arcade.

There was no way she would be given access to him though. And she also had the contest. And that was another hurdle. How would the teams be established? They agreed to talk about it later but there was a mix of people who didn't care and who cared too much. Was it fair of them to demand that April, Dorian, and Danni all be on one team just because they had dreamed of it forever? How did that make her feel? Or Leah? Or Percy? Or Zelda? They talked about her without her being there and that made Sabine feel...ick. How flippant Danni was to another person's feelings, even if she truly believed he meant the best. Leah wasn't even a consideration, as much as she commiserated about the contest. Sabine wanted to win, but not at the expense of others she cared about.

And this was, of course, not even tackling the issue of her dream about her mother. And whoever that man was that she felt....some connection to. On top of her father and step-mother.

Sabine entered her room and fell face first into her bed. She wanted to stay there for the rest of the day, but knew she would be needed elsewhere. She was always needed. And now she would be needed in therapy.

She said she would never do it again. But it seemed there would be little choice.
