(HMU if any of these interest you) Fantasy where players are a group of undead in service of a lich, that hunt down a group of regular adventurers (possibly played by a second group of adventurers if enough interest is shown)
Isekai about a group of teenagers doing a ritualistic psychedelic and being transported to a fantasy psychedelic world.
Modern Sci-Fi set in a ravaged and brutal Mexico City in approximately 20-30 years. Characters would be a group of criminals/associates roped in trying to hijack and steal the Scottish Crown Jewels so they can use the scrying orb in it to foretell ragnarok. Inspired by the works of Neill Blomkamp.
Modern Fantasy set in the same world as one of my other RPs. Players have been hired as the first members of a budding arcane pest control company. Characters will then work to rid the denizens of the city of Gloomminster creatures ranging from cursed bed bugs to rabid chimeras!
Cute slice of life about where the characters are the staff of a fantastical Ghibli-esque cafe.
Brown unfurled himself from his berth, almost bashing his head on the low ceiling due to his focus being placed on porthole looking out to the streetside. His mother always said he was clumsier when he was growing, god forbid he was still growing. He stumbled out of the cabin onto the deck, still his mind wandering idly. He noticed Freyja, and another boy ehom he only vaguely recognised. He considered going up and asking if they needed help, but he didn't know them that well and wasn't sure if it would appear odd or not. He wished one of his friends was there, but nay, it was just him and his decision. Eventually he concluded that it might appear rude to wander off without offering, especially as he realise, since he had apparently been staring for some time now. He just hoped they had not noticed. He put on his shoes, an old ratty pair of trainers. He then timidly wandered down the lakeside towards the raft. The boy and Freyja seemed to have a good rapport, and Brown's self-consciousness was only exacerbated by the fact the well put together boy seemed far better dressed than Brown, in his worn jeans and battered flannel shirt. Yet he was to close to back out now for he had been noticed. He gave a polite, if noticeably timid smile. He only hoped she remembered who he was, seeing as they were only acquaintances, in his consideration, despite them having grown up together. He didn't know the boy's name, only having seen him in passing around town, though he was visibly wealthy. After what he believed to be the socially acceptable amount of time to smile at them for, bridging the awkward gap of distance between them noticing him and him being able to talk to them without shouting. He spoke out to them from the shore, "Hi Freyja, noticed you over here. I was j- just wondering if you needed a hand from someone with a little more height." He chuckled nervously, realising it sounded like he was bragging, and implying the other bloke was short. Which was very much not the case. @Fading Memory@psych0pomp
Name: Wodan (Hugin & Munin) Species: Tri-lateral Evolutionary Computational Intelligence. Wodan is a form of experimental AI comprised of two "Oracle" subsystems, dubbed Hugin and Munin. Though an extremely complex system, the two AI subsystems us edifferent confoudning variables to calculate outcomes to different scenarios, and supply them to the "Judicator" AI main subsystem, Wodan. Wodan the decides the best course of action based on his pre-programmed system of priorities. All of Wodan's programming is completely classified to avoid tampering, and it duspected that one of his many priorities is to avoid exterior alteration. It is theorised that the isolated decision making between the 3 AIs and their bespoke decision making/judgemental algorithms make them extremely resistant to corruption or AI rampancy. This is the first publicly acknowledged test of this form of AI, and one of the first known usages of a true AI. Appearance: Wodan's intelligence cradle is stored in an isolated compartment directly above the bridge. Nothing is known about it for security purposes, but it is believed the captain has sole emergency access to it. Other than that, he can appear in most rooms of the ship as a hologram in the form of three ravens. He can also take remote control if the ship's smsll collection of drones. A pair of armed humanoid military EVA capable defense droids, and a squad of 5 EVA capable maintenance spider drones. Occupation: Ship's AI. He is responsible for the management, upkeep, and wellbeing of the ship and it's crew, as well as advising the crew and defense of the ship and crew. Basically he is a jack of all trades, master of none. Key skills: Advanced prediction skills. Remote control of most ship subsystems and drones. Evolutionary interpersonal skills. Backstory: Wodan was specifically developed for this ship and expedition. Developed by Ymir Industryies as a prototype of the TECI design. He was programmed to observe and train until his classified training quota and activation protocols were fulfilled. Therefore he has only just activated.
Name: Codec Arms Shell-138 Aliases: Luck Age: 8 Birth planet/birthplace:Codec Arms Orbital Factory 37b Command & Management Wing Species:Codec Arms Combat Integrated Positronic Entity Gender: Male presenting personality Role on the Dauntless: First Officer/XO/2ndLt
Appearance
General Appearance: Luck is short, with a stocky torso and long limbs. His "head" could be best described as a vaguely humanoid shaped frame containing 8 high-spec cameras oriented as to give him a close to 360Β° FOV. Topping it of is an 3" antennae with a small red light on top. His internals are a matte carbon black, with grip textured titanium plating (imagine the texture of a very fine sandpaper, for grip). His plating is painted with a worn print of standard planetary multicam. Most of his torso and limbs are heavily plated, with the only real portions of internals visible are his neck and joints. He has airware arteries mimicking that of a humanoid's. His "feet" are comprised of an omni-directional three toed stabiliser. They are magnetised for zero G capability. In fact, his entire body is omni-directional. His omni-directional legs and 360Β° degree FOV mean that front and back aren't really a concept for him. His hands are designed to closely match that of a standard humanoid's, for universality's sake. On his upper thigh he has a custom made handgun holster, usually occupied by his prized handgun. It contains a springloaded ejection system for sick drawing tricks (think jetstream Sam's springloaded katana sheath). Along with that he has an assortment of olive drab pouches strapped to his chest, for storage purposes, reminiscent of a set of UNS webbing. Lastly his "wrist" has a permamently attached Quatermaster's management tablet installed into it, which is snugly in a detachable port. He doesn't really need the physical device, as he can remotely access the software, but he believes it to be a common courtesy to the crew. Height:5'6 Weight:136kgs Build: Short and long limbed, with a disproportionately short torso. Faceplate color: LED Red Plating colour: Standard temperate planet multicam (worn) ontop ofgrip-textured titanium. Personal clothing style: Standard Codec Arms modular equipment carrier.
Psychology
Personality: Due to Luck's status as a premium naval command/ strategy droid he is fitted with a standard evolutionary personality package. Despite him being fully robotic and a completely artifical intelligence, he is fairly jovial and positive, instead of the stereotypical cold and icy. This is purely for personnel morale and loyalty. The standard personality matrix soon learns that personnel are more loyal and generally happier if the unit acts human. This also means the older a model is, the better it's leadership ability becomes, as it's social database increases. However unlike many Codec naval command units, Luck is not loyal directly to his command structure, or captain, but instead directly to his own survival drives, and secondarily the ship itself. His priorites ae very similar to that of a carbon lifeforms, at the top is his survival, directly underneath that is the survival of the ship, equal to the drive to improve his survival quality (profits), and directly under that is the survival and welfare of his CO and men. However for Luck himself, he has ascertained the survival of his current crew to aid in his priorities. Likes:
His continued survival.
The ship's continued survival.
Profits.
Dislikes:
His continued un-survival.
The ship's continued un-survival.
Losses.
Flaws:
Contains gas used for the high-speed transfer of data. Known as "airware" If it leaks then he will be effectively lobotomized, and if enough leaks he will be paralysed. However his hardware has enough redundant processing power that is completely drained of airware he has enough power to keep himself from going offline. Barely.
Completely morally bankrupt.
Hardcoded to be protect the Dauntless, and therefore involuntarily responsible for it until it is destroyed. He also cannot harm it in anyway.
Mildly radioactive.
History
Background: Luck was produced as naval commanding IPE to be used in the Codec Arms Naval Fleet, in which he cognifies he would have most likely ended up scrapped if that plan had gone through; due to the fact Codec Arms was destroyed and it's assets divvied up between the other corporations. This would not have ended well to the robotic troops loyal exclusively to Codec. Fortunately for Luck he was stolen in a pirate raid and auctioned off to the previous First Officer of the Dauntless, who then programmed and socially trained Luck to take his place. As all first officers know, it is them who really manage the ship, so who better than a supposedly infallible AI? Motivation: Luck has the same motivations as any other living thing: continue living and thrive. Except because of the sentimental old bastard that programned him, he has the extra caveat that he is durectly responsible for the welfare of the Dauntless.
Skills and talents
Space travel:
Basic piloting skills.
Textbook navigational skills (theoretically perfect, but completely lacking experience/comprehension in the skills/industry expertise).
EVA capable, with magnetised soles, but completely lacks zero G maneuverability skills.
Combat:
Reinforced titanium plating means he's heavily resistant to ballistics and low-end energy weaponry. However his airware arteries and QSU are vulnerable to people with knowledge on IPE units.
Incredibly strong.
Advanced targeting software, even more effective with weapons with compatible targeting software.
Utility:
Superhuman organisational abilities.
Increased reaction time.
Only consumes energy, not oxygen or food. However he requires basic maintenance periodically.
Other:
In-built karaoke software.
Gear and possessions
On person:
RCI custom furnished naval issue Odium heavy 'Flyswatter' laser pistol, a very fancy pistol that is infamous for it's ability to completely obliterate a person's head through a traditional allistic helmet, while leaving most infrastructure unharmed, very useful for shipside combat. However it comes at the downside that the ammunition in incredibly radioactive and highly hazardous to health.
RCI 'Flyswatter' custom side mounted lead lined ammunition pack.
Quartermaster's cargo management pocketcom.
Field maintenance kit.
In quarters/storage:
Heckler & Koch 'Javelin' naval edition energy carbine.
Personal spacecraft
Manufacturer and Type: Venuscorp IPE light scout harasser MK. III Seats: 0. IPE QSU physical computing matrix transferal unit and cradle. Max acceleration in space:500kmph Max range in space:~2 AU from host ship. Max speed in atmosphere: 320kmph. Armament: Basic ballistic railgun, medium weight repeating turbolaser. Basic ballisitc armour. Basic Conciousness cradle ejection unit.
Huh interesting, we talking a torchship? a relativistic ship? or like..we using wormholes or something
Hmmm, not quite sure yet. Thinking possibly solarsail ship or something along those lines with like some system of "hyperspace" only accesible by Dune style "hyperspacd" carriers. Still all quite up in the air. Any specicic suggestions?
I do like me some hard scifi, though I tend to lean on farther future, to open the possibility for more genetic adaptations for different environments etc
Definitely agree with you, I find it has more opportunities for crreative/interesting tech ideas. I was thinking a basic framework would be a hard sci-fi equivalent to starwars, with the main storyline being focused upon a slightly shady freelance freight ship and her crew!
In the context of this roleplay, I think the most plausible AI character you could create would be the ship we're riding in itself! You could present as a hologram on the Bridge and control servile droids that do a lot of the work in the service areas. You could potentially leave the ship and move around as long as the signal reaches.
I see! Thank you! I'll probably get onto a CS for the ship's AI then! That sounds incredibly interesting! Especially if I have access to drones!
Brown L. is a quiet, bookish chap that looks through an analytical lens at most times. Generally charitable and naΓ―ve, he has a penchant to look at people's best qualities. His mother taught him to be kind and altruistic to a fault. Though many in the town do not know him well, as he is very introverted, most knowing him as "the librarians assistant", or the "son of a the primary teacher", or the just "the boy that lives on the lake". Those who know him closely know he is a harmless individual that is loyal to his friends, kind to strangers, and likes nothing more than to have his nose in a book. He holds a deepseeded and unresolved grief due to his father's not unrecent death. Despite him personality-wise seeming an easy target for the town's harassers and bullies, he never found himself under serious harshness from them, possibly due to his size and appearance.
Brown is exceptionally tall for someone of his age, standing easily above 6'4" at the age of 15. His limbs are disproportionately long, however not enough to be casually noticeable. Because of this and his weight, he could be accurately described as "lanky". Despite this he doesn't weigh more than 70kgs. However he takes careful effort to hide it by wearing baggy/oversized clothes. His face is still visibly gaunt though, and his sharp blue eyes are surrounded by tired looking black circles and framed by an unruly nest of blonde hair. Other facial features include a perfectly straight roman nose, one of his few traits inherited from his mother. And blonde peach fuzz on his top lip and face, typical of many unshaven teenagers.
Brown lives on the coast of the lake on a small, slightly run down barge, with his mother. He feels an undying love and devotion to his mother, Violet, a small kind woman that works at the school with younger kids. Though the pair aren't particularly wealthy they are happy together on their boat. They have just enough to eat, have clothing, and maintain their boat. Barely. Brown tends to spend his days in the local library reading and helping Hickory, who Brown would consider to be his male rolemodel. He would not call his father abusive, and neither would his mother, as they both genuinely love him, however they both considered him completely unsuitable to be a father. He was killed when Brown was ten years of age, leaving him naught but the family boat, a small sum of his savings, and a grieving mother to take care of. Fortunately for him he managed to step up to the plate with the support network comprised of his few close friends, Hickory, and strangely enough the Bilica family, as his father worked closely with them and they considered him and his son a friend, despite them only recently entering the town's social ecosystem. The Cheeseman family migrated to the town when Brown was still a babe in arm's, his parents sailing there down the river and settling their due to it's calm nature and his father taking up work with the Bilica family. Unlike most kids his age, Brown has never had any intention on leaving, partially because it work be fiscally implausible, and partially because the slow speed of the town suits his temperament.
Violet Cheeseman - Brown is deeply loving and loyal towards her mother, given they have relied on eachother for such a long time. She is a short, small woman with dark hair and green eyes, and she works at the local school with the younger students. She is adored by the younger children in the town, and taught and was loved by most of the teenagers at some point in time. 'Hickory' Earhart - The local librarian, Brown work's as his assistant. Brown feels at home in the library, and spends long hours there reading and helping out. Brown also views Hickory as his primary male adult rolemodel, and considers him a friend. The Bilica family - Depsite the Cheeseman families presence in the town being less than a decade and a half, the Bilica's count Violet and Brown among their friends, due to the fact their father worked for the Bilicas loyally for close to a decade. Not only that but Violet taught every single one of the children. They are welcomed to dinner every few months and get along very well, despite the general town's view of the family. Aleyn Ward - Despite Aleyn's general reputation as an asshole, Brown is quite good friends with him, and knows his true character fairly well, that of a comedian. And though their general attitudes may seem juxtaposing, the pair get on very well and Brown considers him his closest friend, helped by their proximity in age and the fact they go through schooling together.
You're in class and the Fire Alarm goes off. Everyone begins to panic. Well I'm for sure not going to be the first or last out. I'd go along with the rest of the crowd. However I'm going to double check my friends and mother are safe.
You've made plans to go to the festival and are running late, but may make it in time to see the fireworks with your friends. On your way, you see a stranger with a flat tire on the side of the road. I'm not that into fireworks anyway. I don't know their situation. What harm could it do to stop and ask if they need help?
You fall asleep in class and begin to dream; you're atop a ruined tower and a massive dragon circles overhead. You reach for... The dragon, the scales must feel like gemstones. I wonder what the view is like, who the people in this world are, what grows in the woods and who built the tower? If only I could know.
The world is so boring; you wish you had a super power. What do you wish for? Sometimes I wish I was better at talking to people. It's hard to be so insular, but I just don't know what people want me to do. Have I said the wrong thing?
You are suddenly reminded that tomorrow is the Midterm Exam. Oh well. I guess I'm not sleeping tonight. I'd sure like to do well. But it's not the end of the world if I don't. Mum sure wouldn't be pleased though.
In the strange world of Yo'Bikur the entirety of Brown's skin is transformed into a vellum-like material. On this material is a constantly shifting array of text packed uniformly onto his entire body. This text is contantsly changing and forms into every piece of writing ever written, in every language that has ever existed in mankind's history.
Also he is longer than usual, by subtantial amount. Now standing at 7' tall, he towers over most even more than usual. However his overall mass hasn't changed meaning he is even more skinny and gaunt than usual, his large ribcage being easily visible through the skin layer of vellum.
@CatharynLooks really interesting! You're still acception, unless I've misunderstood? Before I get to writing I'm curious about possible non-human Jotunheim crew. I was thinking possibly very heavy cyborg/sentient robot?
