Marinalia (Romus) Olympus

Victoria Darya Romus
The Sports bar, Luna Sports Centre, Old Sol Airport, The Coffee Pot and Old Harbour Romus Residence . Wensday morning (Victoria) Afternoon (Marilania)
Marilania landed back at Old Sol Airport slowing down and halting the big old DC7 to a stop in the hanger, several mechanics giving a glare as she was running late thanks to the weather and they needed to check and run a cycle on engine 3 as it was close to its flight hour limit before a check up. Exchanging abit of banter with the ground mechanics she caught one of the security patrols pickup back to the office not wanting to walk it all the way after a few hours flying the older aircraft lacking the digital fly by wire systems of the fleets newest models.
Thinking back on the ride home making small talk with a security guard she had got to know, he was a baseball guy, alot of a baseball guy off work with his truck radio always quietly tuned to the sports channels. They had met their linked families for lunch after the race and lift home, though they kept some details back till later and in own company for the more interesting details, the parents, aunts, and grandparents having to head out on business or other things, they had enjoyed cocktails in the centre Point Hotel, watching the sunset from the large Upper level Balcony. Sunday had been quiet, mostly relaxing, sorting out boring things like food shop, abit of cleaning and adult stuff that did somewhat air on the less fun side of life.
Monday rolled into Tuesday, though Marilania was now doing the odd Helicopter jobs and another escorted flight with the younger pilot still practicing for their full license, you needed a few years flying before you could, and she was only one free that day. Wednesday had been the routine trip to Neo city she had grown to get used to, it was a easy run, a tad boring and after a while one area of open wilderness soon blended into all the others, no real hazzed bar the wind effects from the large hills and pressure changes on approach to Neo’s cargo runway.
Heading into the cargo office to change out her flight suit and unto something more suitable, her boss came along with a look of “can you do me a favour again “ on his face, Ivan was always after one more favour, though truth be told he did look after the flight staff well.
“hey… Marilania, Vans broken down and we need to get a urgent package to a client. Just drop it off, and return me the paperwork in morning, no need to head back?”
Sighing, he had squared things away during a difficult time with jazz night, and the company has backed her to the hilt even though she was fairly new hire.
“Coffee for the rest of the week and il call it a deal, im on way back to the City, just not near 501… I'd come back to a skid mark. “
Checking the Parcel, it was for Lormax, abit weighty and had several export and import stamps on it, knowing previous events they must have rushed in some part for the car and at some expense too.
“My coffee preference is on the board, il drop it off on the way home Ivan, it's on my way”
Truth be told it was a minor detour but not too far, and having met Tommy he seemed OK, even Grumpy Knome Nicolasi. Changing back into something more civilian of jeans, a top and flight jacket thrown on to keep her warm she headed out the white Landrover parked outside office, alongside a line of various staff cars and company trucks, security trucks and a few belonging to private pilots who rented space at the airport. Finding it was easy, a british 4x4 it was rarer than some other models and soon stood out in the car park rows.
Evading most of the rush hour traffic leaving abit earlier and heading down via the main road and bypass round Sol City, the open land near the airport soon gave way to the urban landscapes as traffic slowed down joining the great crawl towards the city centre.
Pulling up and parking out near the back of the sports bar squeezing in next to some japanese import that looked like it had been modified by a man with a 5 year old drawing, wheels out at 30 degrees or so. That was bizarre to say the least. Heading into the bar, It seemed moderately busy for a week day afternoon and the TV had a constant update on the latest sporting events running at time.
Asking after Mr Lormax at the bar she soon found the man was upstairs and a few minutes and a coffee later had a signed form and no more package. The sooner she signed it over, the sooner is was there responsibility whatever it was.
Making small talk with Tommy before he left to do whatever someone running a bar did, she sat at bar Sipping a coffee and wondering what to do about Joel, the Gala, her family and other things besides as absent mindedly got some caffeine into her system before she drove home, wondering what to make for tea or just if to find out whatever was on the menu here.
Relaxing somewhat halfway through her coffee, ignoring a few comments from people, seemed this was not one the pilot regular bars in the city, there was a great one near a airport that had become there unofficial club centre, a haunt of pilots and air crews for decades.
Victoria woke up early and headed out the house earlier than she had woken up the past few days and got dressed grabbing a large over shoulder bag, a neat mid length coat that both sisters claimed ownership of and managing to find her phone buzzing away on the side, more emails from the client who seemed overly worried about things.
The rest of her week had gone at a slower pace, Sunday was a slow one and mostly had been picking up a few bits they needed for the week and tidy the apartment up before the landlord check ups. Monday had been a nice morning at some tech show, the stuff was nothing special that she could not get anywhere else though and had been a waste of a ticket. Tuesday had been all work, once the bank transfer and popped into her account with a satisfying ping, she sent over the passwords and brought the website online properly, good business to never hand over the goods before getting paid.
Locking the door, the sharp click brought her back to reality and headed out to the waiting cab down below, a quick trip the Luna Sports centre for a specialist work out, her doctor had suggested that she try and build up what fraction of her strength she had left after the illness, though it took a while to find a trainer willing to take on someone like Victoria. Walking into Luna sports centre she gained a few confused glances unsure what to make of the ghostly pale young woman.
Finally changing and heading out until the main area to be met by a rather good looking young trainer whom even though semi taken could not help but enjoy the view. Heading over slowly they began a gentle workout gently in a pattern and method that was carefully made by the trainer who specialised in rehabilitation and injuries. Though he had never come across anything like her condition, he was confident it could at least help her in the short term and keep her condition at least from regressing.
"hey... It's Dan right? Victoria Romus, 09.20?
Your the plucky soul who thinks they can do the impossible?"
After a hour or so she finished up and headed back for a quick shower and change before moving onto the smoothie bar for a pick me up afterwards, the work out had been surprising for her, and despite a few aches and pains it felt like she may make some at least short term gains. Dan had been great with her, careful, finding out exactly how damaged she was and how to hopefully help her. The young trainer welcomed a challenge, he had trained as a specialist in rehabilitation and she would test every single classroom example in the book and likely break it. Grabbing a smoothie from the bar she noticed a woman, wait. Was that Paige, little miss deathstar was at the sports centre?
Shaking the thought and grabbing a smoothie she headed out and ignored the thought of Paige sending Milo a picture of her outside the Sports centre. Smiling with a smoothie, dressed in a neat mid length coat, fitted in at the waist with a belt, brown knee length boots contrasting heavily against her white hair and distinctive pale skin.
Things had been a battle in her head since seeing the gun parts, or what could be something similar. Milo had been honest with her, the least she could do was to let him explain, give him a fair go. The whole issue scared her, everything her to be honest and dredged up bad memories but Milo both their lives where proof Dawn could rise from a stormy night.
“hey, sorry for being quiet… Busy few days, first work out.. Rehib may work this time, il never fully recover but I can keep what I have.
Off to a meeting, talk later Vika.. X”
Smiling and heading off the cafe to meet her client and sketch out plans for a new app for some forum community system, “forumplex” the name was silly, but they were paying and if they wanted it, they got it.
Sitting down with some 30 something hipster, his business partner and seemed partner to, both the men once they soon realised the young seemingly frail woman who knew her stuff quickly proved it and they began to plan out what they wanted making. The bill was adding up after a while, it was going to be a week or two worth of work for the little extras they wanted. The forum was simple, stock code and would take half a hour but the details, security, extra features, lives updates and even a internal instant message system would be alot of work to get everything working and fix any bugs before it was brought online.
The bugs would have her swearing to match a sailor on her dads ship, she hated them and yet also loved it to, the problems, the bugs. The moment when it was beaten and everything came online, every test turning green.
Staying at the cafe in the city, she shook hands and began quietly in the corner after they left began putting together a rather long estimated invoice for her hours worked, hosting, security and custom coding involved. The numbers added up nicely though the pressure did to, the job would test even her skills at times to set them up, they wanted alot but it seemed they had deep pockets, deep pockets she would empty somewhat when it came to paying the bills.
Counting the sums, if this worked she would be able to get a nice new handbag, maybe even save for a cheap car if she would be staying in city a while.
