When I first look down at the paper Commander Monroe handed me, I'm not sure what to think. I'm being paired with
Brine, of all people? Sure we may know each other but as she'd witnessed yesterday, we most certainly were not on each others' good sides. For goodness sake she literally had to shoot the man so he would't kill me. Out of habit, I sighed a ran a hand through my hair. What am I going to do? I can't run an hide forever, but then again, I have no idea how to talk to him. His violent reaction was startling to say the least so that begs the question: what the hell happened to him?

I reread the list of pairs inscribed onto the stationary just to double check it. Again. Then one more time just for good measure. Third time's supposed to be a charm, right? But I'm disappointed to find that nothing's changed within the last minute. No, this must be some sort of mistake. As much as I don't want to believe it I know Rin's done this on purpose; I assume she just wants to help but this just makes things a lot more... complicated. From what I understand she has no idea what went on between us. I'd honestly rather it stay that way. Since by now I have my room number memorized, I don't bother checking the list again. Instead I neatly fold it and tuck it away into the pocket concealed on the inner side of my uniform jacket. Here goes nothing. Making my way easily though the corridors, I locate our room and knock before entering. It's empty. There's a moment of relief when I see no sign of anyone having been here yet. Where the hell was Sharp? Not wanting to look a gift horse in the mouth, I decide not to search for him and get to unpacking my things on the bed by the far wall.
