@Altered Tundra You guys didn't get the memo? lol

Lilac felt a slight disgust for herself as she paraded her students over the failings of Takai, in her mind. But what else was she suppose to do, despite the learning curve and difficulty they all came out on top. She would have to rectify the jealousy that now rested in her later.

She clapped her hands the way a proud mother would. "Amazing! now if you all would just pair up. Come now, quickly. Annie with Dante, Max with Asher."

Making a very obvious point to stand within the Clocktowers boxy boundary, Lilac put on the air of someone in perfect control. "The Arena has only one rule. Any fighting underneath its stony pillars are prohibited. However, out there ..." She gestured towards the green pasture laid out before them. Towards the few tall trees that watched over both the grass and the barely visible lake behind the far away slope south of the Clocktower.

"Out there everyone and anything is fair game. Now you're all comrades, so I expect a degree of consideration when combating one another."

Yaa dropped to the table before hopping even further onto the ground. "Lilac's been excited about doing this since yesterday, he said, sounding more alive then his drowsy self moments before.

"Indeed I have, today you all wil-"

A terrible boom made the air tremble. A nebula of dark, earthen smoke rolled up the slope before slowing to light dust.

Lilac, whom at first was startled, started piecing everything together. Takai's Koromon was the only other Digimon in the Arena, but an in-training Digimon didn't have the strength to create such a mess. She decided it easier to investigate. "Yaa, let's go."

Yaa nodded once and begun to run the few hundred meters towards the lakeside. Lilac was soon to follow. "S-Stay here students. Inside the Clocktower," she urged before sprinting down the slope, where the cloud and debris was even thicker than previous.

Mameo burst from the cloud, rolling and skidding to a halt against the soft earth. "Analogman! Damn you, let Takai go!" There was a growl in his usual tone.

Takai walked from out the cloud, a small white dragon by his side as he stood in opposition of both Mameo and Lilac. He paused there, Digivice in hand, an ill black aura flowing from the apparatus. "Whose the failure now, Lilac?" His voice had an elderly echo behind it, an alien maniacal undertone. "I'll show you me and Kibo's power.

"So the dud finally exploded huh? Get ready, Yaa."

"Already there, Lilac"

Mameo rushed over to the side of Lilac. "Its not Takai," he said. "Analogman is controlling him. We have to subdue him."

"Subdue? but how without usin-"

Before she could finish, Kibo the Hackmon soared high and crashed down between them. The three of them dodged the blow, the human's displaying jarring levels of agility. Yaa and Lilac landed far to the right, Mameo dropped down to the left.

Takai simply held his Digivice tightly in his hand, gorging on the pain and hurt he felt, making it into energy for Kibo to consume. "Damned idiots! Your struggle will only hasten your destruction!" he cackled.
@Altered Tundra Guilmon and Gaomon was actually my favorites of their seasons lol.
@Altered Tundra His cape is dope lol.
Hackmon is my all-time favorite now. His design and backstory is A-1 and above all else, I just love how despite he's this fledgling Royal Knight, he decides to intervene in open conflicts around the world, hoping to solve them best he can. He's like the Hero the world needs.
@SleepingSilence The roles I had were vague in my mind at best. So go for it buddy.
@Altered Tundra This is only the beginning. Things'll get interesting soon.
@Crimson Flame Wasn't it Max and Dante talking about how they thought they were going on an adventure instead of high school lol.
@Crimson Flame The only reason you shouldn't be able to is if you have a blockage of wanting (not needing) to. When the need arise your partner will Digivolve from In-Training to Rookie regardless of the situation. However, Lilac is putting you all on the spot so see where her lessons should start.

@SleepingSilence Go for whatever your character would do. Never feel like you have to do anything lol. Max is seeming a bit disillusioned anyway and he's as challenge-chasing as Dante. I can see how he'd be a bit hesitant to try.

Lilac is already seeing what makes you four special. You guys may think you and your partners are dysfunctional but in all actuality, you all are getting along pretty well. Typically, a Digimon in our AU is very hard to befriend, even from birth, but its obvious you all are the exception.

To make it clearer, your latent Bond with your partners are prodigious. Just like a Digidestineds should be.

Lilac went over the lessons she would be teaching the students in her head. They were all far more special than they had known. While they conversed amongst themselves she had mulled over the idea of telling them but quickly dismissed it. Best not boost their egos too soon.

Even so, all of their partner Digimon were significant fighters in the scope of the Digital World. That was no coincidence. The world they now resided in and hoped to speckle with Digi-natives had a special way about it. It could pick and choose who it deemed worthy, match special beings with crucial Digimon to manipulate events.

This new group, despite being impatient was indeed promising. Like, Takai, they showed an extraordinary ability to bond with their partners. A full day had yet past but they spoke and interacted like old friends or family. Not even herself had connected with Yaa like that. In fact, she believed it had taken a full month for Yaa to become comfortable around her.

Then she heard Max’s dissatisfaction and Dante’s flamboyant resentment. Disapproval drove her to utilizing something she shouldn't. A literal chill fell onto the students and their partners alike. Not yet, she reminded herself. Control yourself, they’re new. You were new once, you were the same. The chill faded just as quick as it came.

Nearly a fleeting moment later and a silken smile was on her face, her eyes however were stern with purpose.

Yaa, seemingly, was snoozing betwixt her lavender scent.

“Not to worry, I will liven up your days here.” She stood from the table, rousing Yaa from his slumber. The purple furball yawned cutely while shimming after her. “Teach you the specifics of battle … well me and Yaa will.”

She dipped her hand inside her vest and pulled a Digivice from it. Several bars of light flew up on the small screen before it glowed, releasing a whine of energy. Surprisingly enough, it was Yaa who had begun to shine brilliantly. Yaa illuminated half the arena in the moment it took his shape to change. When it faded, an Impmon stood on the table.

The Digimon massaged its neck before levitating a foot off the table. “I’m still tired, Lilac.” Yaa sighed.

Lilac giggled but mostly ignored her partner. She turned to the students, hoping to have impressed at least one of them, after all they were technically around the same age. She was only their senior due to prior experience with the Digital World. “What you’ve just witnessed is called digivolution. Its a simple transfer of energy to invoke a change in your partner. The transition from in-training to rookie is the easiest. So easy that even you guys should be able to do it.”

She made sure that the others could see her Digivice in hand. “Now the feeling you get while transferring energy is different for everyone. You’ll know when it happens; its not like a draining feeling, it's a overflowing excess of it. An increase. Then you hear the whine,” she assured with full confidence.

Though she made it sound simple, the truth was far from it. Digivolution was an incredibly difficult process without desperation in play; it took her months to master the feeling and gain the endurance to handle the surge of energy. She hadn't been chosen by the Digital World, she was an interloper, a stray Tamer who bumped into an orphan Yaamon by chance.

But they ... They were Mameo's Fighters; they had better be extraordinary.
