Got my new sci-fi mecha RP up. Put a lot of work into the background of this one, and wrote out a whole setting

Cambozola is definitely A-Tier. It combines all the best parts of Brie with Blue Cheese, what's not to like.

Guess the mecha RP idea wasn't as popular or as interesting as I hoped it might be. Not much in the way of bites on that one so far, sadly

Bio
I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly. I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists. I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. I have a lot of fandoms, but I don't really like fandom RP's - or at least, the ones that come up. I often find them a bit lacking in ideas, or too far away from what actually makes the thing I'm a fan of enjoyable.
I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating.
I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time. I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones. I dig giant robots, and I love military aircraft. I'm also a very dedicated and proud Brony and furry.
I would first like to apologize to you all, I was blindsided by work and life for a good long while there and didn't notify you that my post would be delayed. For that I am sorry, I am also sorry that I seemed to disappear for a while with no reason, that was not my intention and I didn't want that to happen, but it did and I'm sorry. However, it seems the various factors are all returning to a normal state and so I can resume posting again, which brings me to this. I have not lost interest in this RP, not a single shred. So if you would have me back I could even get a post out today as part of my return to normal posting. But if you decide that I am no longer suited for this, I will understand and bow out graciously.
I wasn't particularly intending to kick anyone out, so much as making sure people were still here. if you still want to play, then by all means carry on and get posting. Losing people or kicking them out when they want to carry on would be counter-productive.
I am sorry guys. It's not that I don't want to commit but there have been to much at work affecting my life in a way I did not expect...I will sadly have to back out as I think it will continue to be like that for a while...Sorry to disappoint you all.
Sorry to hear that. If things calm down and the game is still going, you'd be welcome to come back.
All of that aside, I'll get a post up shortly to keep us moving.
Disposition: Refined, elegant and graceful... most of the time. She has a great deal of bearing and poise, though is far from being a 'snob', treating everyone she meets with respect and kindness... as long as they do her the same courtesy, of course. She has a great deal of patience, but when her temper does snap, it's quite... spectacular. Despite her grace and poise, she has a surprisingly filthy sense of humour that tends to come out when she has had a chance to get to know people and is comfortable with them... or when she's drunk.
Background: Alyssa was born in the UKE to a family with a long history. Not overly famous outside of certain circles - mainly business ones - they are 'old money', and have a strong industrial and property portfolio across several countries. With such a 'pedigree' (as Alyssa herself would derisively put it), she lived a life of prestigious education in exclusive schools, her life heavily organized for her and watched over with a critcial - and somewhat cold - eye. Her parents saw her as more of an 'asset' than a child, to be used as another bargaining chip in the development of their business empire. Subjected to the constant critical eye and with her future depressingly mapped out by her parents, Alyssa rebelled. At first, in small ways, such as dying her hair, piercing her nose and taking up 'unsuitable' hobbies (such as joining the military cadets, and her enjoyment of rock music), but eventually ending with her rejecting much of their cloying approach to her life. As soon as she was old enough to graduate from college - and thus, to claim the substantial fund held for her until her 18th birthday - she left home, and travelled the world.
She spent time in some of the more seedy areas of the world, coming into contact with mercenaries, refugees, aid workers and more. After watching from the sidelines for months and patching wounds, helping on radios, sensor screens and radars, she found herself frustrated and wrung out from being unable to help her friends where it counted on the battlefield. Spending more of her fortune, she trained and studed to become a FRAME pilot, learning under several different teachers and instructors. While she was no expert, she was certainly adept, and hard-working and pushed herself through, driven both by her desire to help her friends, and also to defy her old life. While her piloting and combat skills were only average, she showed a natural aptitude and skill for the intricacies of reconnaissance, signal inteception and intelligence gathering, having a great deal of talent for manipulating data, signals, and other such information into the greater picture of a battlefield and it's many secrets.
After some years of running with a small company, they eventually fell apart, both due to casualties and internal fighting. As the company disbanded, she moved on to new opportunities. She lived well on her share of the money she'd earned and her reputation alongside it, enabling her to enjoy the luxury, upper-level goods and services she enjoyed, and to keep her aires and graces, before coming to hear of the Preying Panthers, an up-and-coming unit. Deciding it was high time she put her skills to use again, she signed up with the new unit and see what fortune brings.
Appearance:
Long-limbed and willowy, Alyssa stands at just shy of 6'00" tall. She is very slim and has little body fat, adding to her elegant and graceful appearance. Most of her civilian clothing is in contrasting light and dark colours, with crisp white being a common theme. Her voice is rich, cultured and well-spoken, with a musical laugh, and a powerful singing voice.
Inventory:
High-end PADD, with personalised case and software loaded for signal encryption/decryption, mapping and associated recon-related tasks.
Multi-channel radio headset with noise-cancelling headphones and mic
Folding lock-knife
Compact semi-automatic pistol with engraved mother-of-pearl handgrips
Pilots' suit and associated load-carrying harnesses
Pilots' helmet with personal design painted on
Usually has a folding mirror, makeup kit, and hairbrush on her at all times too
Other: "Don't confuse elegance for snobbery, darling..."

Sorry my CS took me way longer to post than I wanted. I originally wanted to RP as a female Syreen but I didn't feel invested enough into the character, so I decided to cook up a different char instead.
Hopefully the details are aligned with the RP. If anything needs adjusting, let me know :)
Adam looks perfectly fine to me, and I'm happy to approve him for inclusion in the game. To explain how he's only just turned up, perhaps he could have arrived earlier than the others, but was ill, or otherwise delayed before meeting up with the rest of us; that way Erien could have been aware of him, but the others wouldn't have had a chanace to meet him yet. I can always retroactively edit my posts to have him mentioned by her. Alternatively, we can just pretend that he was there all along, considering we haven't done a lot yet and not that much time in game has passed, that would also be acceptable - he could've just been too shy to speak up, or everyone too busy to notice.
Feel free to jump right into the IC, we're actually at a very good point for you to do just that.
Lucky; I wish I had a solid group with interest in Mekton. Mostly it's just Pathfinder or D&D, and after a while fantasy starts feeling really uninspiring.
Our regular game isn't solidly mecha, but they're a feature of the game universe, so they come up relatively often. And the construction system makes it just as good for building starships, fighters and anything else too, which is what we use it for. Plus we've house-ruled and sourced from online a lot of optional extra rules to make things a bit more well-rounded. I wrote out a whole world-setting for the game we're playing, we've been playing the same setting and game for about 4ish years, though the player party has changed a bit. Also, we have to play over Skype now, since some of our group moved overseas. We still manage to get together at least once a month though.
I'm going to be working on my character shortly, have her personality well in mind, and her FRAME also - just need to find a good character pic!
Thanks for the answers, that helps a lot. Mainly with my own immersion when I'm writing and describing things, and getting an idea of what kind of tech-level the setting is at.
Also, as an aside, I have the tabletop RP book that image is from; the game it's from got me into roleplaying many, many years ago, and my regular group and I still use it now.
How networked are FRAMES compared to modern military systems? For example, can we share visual, targeting or other data between our machines (without a C3 system) in a similar fashion to networked information on a modern battlefield?
How does a frame stack up for electronics and computerization compared to, say, a modern jet fighter like the F-22, because I would imagine it's at least on par, if not more advanced.
Controls wise, is it a case of lots of lovely sleek touch-screens or tactile holographics (Like, say, Mass Effect or something), or is it more grungy, old-school 80's anime control sticks, dials, CRT's and pedals?
That sounds cool; I'll assemble something broadly similar to my previous machine, but with a heavier focus on recon gear and equipment, and then I can add in the jammers and such later on - gives me something to aim towards.
I'll get the character up as soon as I can, might be a day or so.
So, I have the idea for a character who is a dedicated recon/comms/ECM specialist. Before I create their character sheet later this evening (UK time, and I work during the day), would that character be useful, and would there be any point? By 'any point', I mean, I was picturing them being slightly removed from the main area of action, and primarily spending their time in battle using their sensors and equipment to gather info on the enemy, rather than charging in. Would that character fit this style of RP, or would I be better off just creating another rock'em-sock'em robot fighter instead?
