Got my new sci-fi mecha RP up. Put a lot of work into the background of this one, and wrote out a whole setting

Cambozola is definitely A-Tier. It combines all the best parts of Brie with Blue Cheese, what's not to like.

Guess the mecha RP idea wasn't as popular or as interesting as I hoped it might be. Not much in the way of bites on that one so far, sadly

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom.
I have a lot of fandoms, but I don't really like fandom RP's - or at least, the ones that come up. I often find them a bit lacking in ideas, or too far away from what actually makes the thing I'm a fan of enjoyable.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones. I dig giant robots, and I love military aircraft. I'm also a very dedicated and proud Brony and furry.

Hmmm...@Silverwind Blade Light combat aircraft allowed? Jet powered of course.

You mean something like a Hawk (as an example); light fighters or combat-capable trainers? By all means, yes.

Sorry I've been sitting on the fence about this rp, and then came down really ill the last couple of days.

I think I've intimidated myself put of this one a bit. The mecha one I'd feel more comfortable panting my way through, hut I just don't have the knowledge of real world military stuff, and feel like I'd hold everyone back. I'd be more comfortable doing so in a Sci-fi mecha setting...

Honest word, if I'm the player that decides if this gets off the ground then I'll do my best, but otherwise I think I might bow out and focus on other projects.

That's fair enough; we should still have enough people to keep it going, and if you'd like to join in, you would still of course be welcome.
I am still planning on going ahead with the mecha-based game, but it's just taking a bit longer to hammer out the setting and make it work than I'd like, plus I've also been busy.
Yep, trying to get stuff sorted since I just got a new project settled, also something like the F-111 Aardvark allowed? I know that is more of a multirole/strat.

The F-111 is absolutely allowed; multirole aircraft are perfectly fine. Won't all be air-to-air combat in the slightest.
The F-111 almost straddles the line between Strategic Bomber and tactical aircraft, but it's been used as both, so I don't have a problem with it. I debated choosing one myself, actually.

@Silverwind Blade Yeah sorry this weekend was crazy with a wedding and now I've gotten sick but ill look over some stuff and hopefully get somthing together or pull my interest. Again very sorry for being MIA for a bit

No problems, was just getting a bit antsy since I had a good few people on the Int Check, and then nobody seemed to follow across to the OOC. Good to see you're here now, though.
Not only did I finally get that update out, but the long overdue discord server is up!

I tried to click on the link, but it told me the invite is invalid D:
Okay I just really, really, really want to apologize for the delay. I'm actually having a bit of a hard time setting up this next bit, I'm not suuuuper familiar with GMing in sci-fi/militaristic settings and that's starting to hit me now.

I'm not trying to make excuses, this delay is pretty shameful on my part as GM, but I just want to let everyone know what's going on and that one way or another I am going to try and push something out to try and get this going and get over my personal failings here today.

Hey, don't sweat it - no one has said anything negative so far, and everyone is having fun. Don't put too much pressure on yourself, and remember to let yourself enjoy the game too.
For me personally, the relaxed pace is good, it fits in with my responsibilities and lifestyle well, and I'm patient enough to wait and glad to not be missing out on things because it's moving too quickly.
I'm dithering on this a little.
My other RP Interest Check; the fighter pilots one, got a good amount of interest to the point of getting to an OOC... aaaand now all the people bar one who were interested have disappeared.
So, that brings me back to this RP, which I was less invested/interested in, but seems to have more interest from players... IDK.
I will try and get something written up for an OOC with it, and we'll see what happens?
Really, I'd just like one of the two things I suggested to actually get somewhere...
@Dr Acula, @Jamesyco, @sly13; Still waiting for word from any of you on joining the OOC and posting anything, presuming you're all still actually interested.
@Silverwind Blade F-16XL was the first thing to come to mind. But as I started getting frustrated with the sheet I started considering other options. However for what I already have, I might've been stealing a page from your book and was planning to give it the MATV nozzle from the VISTA.

As for what I'm struggling with. Its more to do with if the modifications I'm putting on it sound reasonable or not. And less to do with lack of info I need.

Pretty much what I was thinking to do with it if I was going to take one really. Put the MATV nozzle on it, the DSI supersonic inlet, and then add the CFT's and enlarged spine from other versions. Maybe those big IR warning bulges from the Israeli F-16's as well. Basically modify the whole thing to make it as modern as it could be!

I'm sure whatever you come up with, it'll be fine - best thing to do it just go for it, and we can work out the rest together if there are any issues :)
<Snipped quote by Silverwind Blade>

No surprise you could guess it from what I described. Did my best to be vague.

It's a good choice, and a personal favourite too! I almost chose it myself, before going for the F-15 Active/MTD.
I'll see what I can dig up for you with the XL - any particular bits you're struggling with? I know there's a fair bit of information out there about it.
I also have a 1/48th model kit of the 2-seater one in my collection, waiting to be built.
@Starlance Nah. Its more like early 80's aircraft that was built for a competition that it lost and was turned into a NASA testbed. Also has some limited info, which could be due to being classified to some degree.

Well, now I'm curious! Especially since I've chosen something similar myself. Hmm... F-16XL?

Enthusiastically Approved! Feel free to put them in the characters tab.

Also, Astrid is cute as heck
