Current TBH, I'm not surprised an Int Check got taken down. Some of the 1x1 checks I've seen are basically straight-up looking for ERP and Typef*cking almost shamelessly

Ah, I see the bots are back again with their nonsense posting.

Got my new sci-fi mecha RP up. Put a lot of work into the background of this one, and wrote out a whole setting

Cambozola is definitely A-Tier. It combines all the best parts of Brie with Blue Cheese, what's not to like.

Guess the mecha RP idea wasn't as popular or as interesting as I hoped it might be. Not much in the way of bites on that one so far, sadly

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom.
I have a lot of fandoms, but I don't really like fandom RP's - or at least, the ones that come up. I often find them a bit lacking in ideas, or too far away from what actually makes the thing I'm a fan of enjoyable.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones. I dig giant robots, and I love military aircraft. I'm also a very dedicated and proud Brony and furry.

it has been sadly over the past year, text rp is a slowly dying thing sadly.

I think people have moved onto Discord or onto other platforms or forms of messaging for text-based RP. Though, the downside of that is finding out how and where to join in and advertise about your RPs to people and get people joining them.
My interest has waned in running an RP, unfortunately, so I think I'm going to cancel running this. My enthusiasm has passed on, partly I think because the traffic on the site is so much less active than it used to be.
Yeah, honestly; I think I'm not going to go ahead with this anymore. TBH, the site is a lot more dead than it used to be and I've been waiting for people to post characters for literally weeks now. My enthusiasm has passed, and so has my interest
As I said on the Discord, I think I'm going to drop out.
Nothing to do with the game or anyone in it; everyone's been fine and the setting and RP have been fine. Just that I'm not really feeling forum RP anymore or the site particularly
Updated my sheet with a character image and also a mecha image! Stumbled across the character pic by sheer coincidence, and the mecha one was one I'd had in mind for a while ^v^

Still hoping for a bit more interest - seems like the people who were in the interest check have all disappeared

Sorry, I'm evaluating. In Macross, the mecha are so tall because the aliens they're fighting are that tall, too. 18-24' mecha are better off than 40' mecha, but still have pros and cons.

They have pros and cons, yes; if you're evaluating them as a real thing.
But this is a setting where they do exist and are used commonly, frequently, and effectively.
It's about suspension of disbelief and embracing the conventions and themes of the setting. If you're expecting it to follow and adhere to realistic physics, or consequences or whatever else - then you're probably looking at the wrong game.
Need I point out the facts that the setting also is one where there was a dimensional collapse and multiple worlds crosssed over? I'd say that's more far-fetched and unlikely than the fact there's 25-foot tall combat mecha.
'Realism' is hardly the point - it's about escapism, enjoyment, story-telling and fun.
Embrace the setting and the genre for what it is - not what it isn't.

Finally, embrace the setting. I have seen real robot mecha-themed anime in the past where people have got spectacularly stuck on the 'real' part, and not the 'anime' and 'sci-fi' part. The plot is king and the story is the point. Dramatic licence and tension will always win out over the 'realism' of the setting or the scene, because that's what the point is. And really... this is a setting where multiple dimensions have crashed together, and various species and races of people pilot bipedal giant robots. Realism isn't exactly in massive abundance, so trying to explain away every piece of scientific and technical information just... isn't the point.
Getting into the minutiae of the tech isn't the point, and isn't the goal.

Quoted from my opening post about the RP and the setting.
Honestly; if you're not excited enough about the idea of piloting a cool mecha in a semi-apocalyptic world where you can be any one of a number of different species or races - including ones you make up yourself - and fighting against anything from other mecha, to genocidal robots, to rampaging dragons, then I'm not sure what else will convince you?

Both mecha are totally fine with me, feel free to add them to the respective character sheets.

So this is the 40' tall standing target kind of mecha. Hmm.

Uhh... no? Did you read the lore?
Also, if you don't like it/want to embrace the setting and it's conventions, then don't join in with snarky, smart-ass comments, thanks. What exactly were you expecting? I've made it clear at every point that mecha anime like Gundam and Macross would be the major inspiration for the mecha aspect.

Approved, pending a mecha sheet for them.
I've created one for Kyria, which is on her post in the Characters tab if you need a reference.

Probably the longest running and definitely most stable game I've ever been in is three players and four characters. Also a modern military one, so personally I'd be fine with just the three of us and growing if more people come later.

Quality over quantity sort of thing.

You make a good point, and I've had similar experiences myself.
Bearing that in mind then, perhaps what I'll do instead is to get an IC post up shortly and we'll proceed with just the characters currently posted, and that way if anyone else wants to join in at a later date they can do so. And any other characters we want/need to make we can make ourselves. Nothing to stop any of us from playing multiple characters if we want to.

I'll try and get an IC post up in the next couple of days, work and other responsibilities permitting.
