Bio

I'm an adult with a family and responsibilities that take priority, as well as mental health issues that can cause me to not get on this site for periods of time. Just know I will get back to you within a few days. If I had something going with you at some point, and you're interested in either starting it back up or starting something fresh, just reach out.

I recently started working on getting published, and have self published one story so far. Check it out on Amazon - Into the Night by Alexia Wynd.

Location: Somehow unable to finish leaving the guildhall
Interactions: Adelyn @Lunarlord34, Kiba @Cello

Mark only made it a few steps before the short spitfire lightning mage was in front of him, blocking his path once again. Saying he had something to do should have been the end of the conversation, right? Why did she insist on continuing to prattle on when there was a job to do? Obviously there would only be one way to be rid of her now. He had to actually talk with her. Or, at least, he would if she ever shut up.

He could have answered everything, but what was the point? She had her assumptions set. It was a waste of time to backtrack reply to any rhetorical question she posed. The more insulting thing was that - for as long as they had been in the guild together - the bookworm didn't know his name. He hadn't bothered learning her last name, but at least he knew her first. Oh - well, supposedly it was good she introduced herself. He thought her name had been Adeline. Perhaps an introduction was called for.

"Markovis."

No sooner did he finish saying his name than she continued on. This girl spoke more than their bubbly water mage (and that one could carry on a conversation alone) but more passive aggressive in her attempts to socialize. He knew he wasn't the best at this whole interaction thing, but he at least knew better than to force his presence onto someone. Especially without knowing what the task at hand was, or if he was under skilled for the mission.

So what did he have to say? "No."

He went to go move a step but realized she was going to stay in his way when she shifted to match. A soft sigh escaped him. "You are not capable of handling this task. You are neither physically fit, nor magically capable enough to assist. You will get killed. Kiba is more than capable of assisting without potentially getting killed." He turned and looked at the swordsman. "Your skillset would be helpful. You should come."

His attention returned to the silver haired girl before him. "You're not going to move out of the way unless you get a yes." It wasn't a question. It wasn't even an accusation. It was just a very obvious fact. One he hated.

He massaged the bridge of his nose with another sigh. "Very well, come. But your life is your own responsibility."

With that as the final note, he stepped around her and started off again. It was up to them to join him. Kiba would make the job easier; Adelyn was likely to complicate it. So, ultimately, whether they joined or not - it seemed the difficulty would remain the same. The only thing that would change would likely be tactics.

Things could most certainly have been worse, so if all she had to put up with was an egotistical brat being her chosen traveling partner, Faye counted herself lucky. At least they had a fresh start and she'd try to give it an honest effort. It just was a bit awkward waiting next to him. What did they have in common besides being second day trainers?

Before she could run through a list of things to try (and crossing off almost everything she considered) their Pokémon were returned. She felt a wave of relief wash over her, but caught herself before she sighed. "Thank you, Nurse Joy. I'll be sure to check out the Move Tutor before leaving town. That'd probably be helpful for Sage." But for now, they - well, she - had other things to do. She collected her pokeballs and left.

She figured Tristan would probably leave his Pokémon in their balls, given Princess's allergy, but if he let them out, hers would too. It wouldn't be fair to either sets' Pokémon if one needed to be kept in their balls while the others were out. Not after already starting to socialize.

And off she went toward Critical Capture.

Or, at least she would have been. She got to the doors of the Pokémon Center before turning to face Tristan. "Critical Capture was next, right? Or the Berry Emporium? Both have unique items that make them great stops for new trainers to just learn a bit more beyond the basics. Though I was planning to just go buy stuff from the local Poke Mart given it's more affordable and serves the purposes for catching and caring for the Pokémon we have and can handle training right now. But I still want to check out those specialty stores anyways, 'cause they'll be useful to know what those places carry on hand when we're ready for them. You coming with me or taking off on your own?"

Location: Town Guard Command Center
Interactions: Nolan @hatakekuro, Sergeant of Garrison @Zarkun

What was usually organized chaos of bustling guards going about their duties had dwindled to a meager sight. Given the things she had been hearing, the increased dangers around the town blamed on the increased amount of mages thanks to their guild, there was no surprise to see how few were around. The fact there looked to be any that would be accompanying them - given how the ones near the trucks acted and what she overheard of their discussions - surprised her honestly.

Ria found herself gravitating toward the transport vehicles, but blinked back to attention when someone shouted for someone to come over. And was looking straight at her and Nolan. A smile settled naturally on her face as she approached what was clearly a commanding guard. She showed the job posting and introduced them both as mages from the guild here to help. Then it was a matter of staying focused on what the sergeant was telling them and not get sidetracked by the dismal amount of town guard in the yard.

It might be best they were just supposed to be there "just in case" but even Vulcan could be problematic. At least she'd seen the job to handle the lightning beast had come down when she went to grab it - that actually had been one she figured would have been more worth Nolan's talent given what she'd heard of his capabilities - so someone was likely on it already. If that was the case, the beast might not be a problem. Before she could dive too far down that rabbit hole of thought over what could and couldn't be problematic and how they might be able to handle problems as they arose, Nolan cut straight to the chase. Hearing his pointed questions completely derailed her thought. It wasn't a surprise he would be the one to bring it up; he was the one with a sorted history with the town guards after all.

The fog of thought cleared from her face as her usual cheerful smile replaced it. It wouldn't be a problem. "Obviously we're not here to take command of any of the towns guard. It helps everyone to know the official chain of command, though. If I might be so bold as to make a recommendation: as this is a job we are hired for, we meld it as a partnership. Your commander for this task is first in the chain, but if necessary for there to be a second, I believe that should be Nolan. He has a wealth of tactical experience so if something does happen to cause delay in delivery, and should the commander for the mission be incapacitated, it would do us all good to follow Nolan's instructions. I'm certain his ability to handle himself is well known fact; I have no doubts he has the capacity to give instructions that will success, should a secondary leader be needed. Doing this would help instill a level of trust between your men and us, as it would show them that a more senior commander trusted us beyond just backup should trouble arise." Polite, measured in her wording, she made sure she presented herself as nonthreatening and inoffensive as she could. This wasn't the first time she had to deal with a potentially difficult situation to ensure everyone got what was best. She figured it wouldn't want, but hopefully it wouldn't take much negotiation to get both comfortable with the arrangement.

Nolan's expression didn't change, but he definitely changed colors. Why did her invitation make him so red? It's not like - Oh my goodness, did he misunderstand? Now did she explain to him that she had not invited him to see the city as a means of them interacting on a more intimate note, or did she just gloss over his fluster over it? Surely he must have had a panic or alarm going off in his head to turn such a brilliant shade of red she hadn't ever noticed before. She hadn't exactly thought he could blush, much less she would ever make him do so.

He didn't say no. Instead, he said he was concerned for her reputation. That was sweet, especially for one that tended to be rather rude to most (or at least rude to Adelyn.) It was that concern that was why she was certain he was simply misunderstood or - like Markovis and Kiba - had trouble expressing themselves to others. "If anyone thinks less of me for being associated with you outside of the guild, then they clearly never thought too much of me." She offered him a more cheerful smile. "So, if it means I lose a few kind words, then so be it. Besides, for every one that may think less of me, I am certain there will be another that thinks better of you for it.

"So, don't be coy with concern over my reputation in the town.
" She gently touched his arm without even considering the fact he might not want to be touched or what that might imply either. Right now, she was more concerned with the fact he didn't think he was good enough to be her friend. She'd completely forgotten how red he had been just a second ago. "You deserve to have public friendships and not be some kept secret just like everyone else." She nodded like that was that.

Then the smell of fresh baked pastries caught her attention. A soft gasp escaped her and a beaming smile sparkled in her eyes. She took hold of his hand in both of hers, skipping forward a few steps while dragging Nolan along, toward the front window of a pastry shop. "Oh! When we get back you absolutely have to come with me here. They make the best streusel you will ever try! It's just that right mix of sweet and flaky and -" she hummed with delight. Then realized she was holding his hand and let go with a sheepish laugh and rubbed the back of her head. "Sorry about that. But I mean it. When we get back, I'm buying you a streusel."

She nodded to herself then turned and started off on their way again. Well, rather, she started on her way again. She assumed Nolan would follow because the awkwardness of him blushing over her invitation had already slipped from her mind. It was decided in her head they would go see things in the town when the job was finished. She wasn't going to take no for an answer just because her reputation might take a hit. Who cared about that if it meant someone felt they weren't allowed to be her friend? She refused to accept someone couldn't be her friend because their reputations were polar opposites. Either people would like him more, or she'd have better friends. It was a simple as that.

The tiny spark that zapped him barely even registered - definitely not in any change in expression on Markovis' face, and barely acknowledged by his brain either. Almost like just some small amount of static discharge one might build up keeping their ass planted in a seat and shifting every so often while reading might be expected to build up. The bookworm barely registered much to him much like the spark she assaulted the unwanted touch. And much like the momentary static discharge, their contact was gone just as quickly. The stoic mage wanted to stay in the din of the guildhall no longer than required. So once the girl was righted, he was off on his way again.

Or rather, he would have been if the tiny static mage running in front of him and making a huge scene of it.

Markovis blinked, stopping before he bowled her over again, and stared at her. The girl was horribly unfit. He may not be one to go out for a jog - ever - but at least he could handle a bit of physical exertion. It was all about conservation of energy and properly applied efforts. For a bookworm, she clearly had no grasp of core concepts. "Perhaps you should exercise more often," he commented rather blandly, like an offhanded piece of advice, while she struggled to catch her breath.

He glanced over her head, noting how little distance was between them and the guildhall door. That was when she started spitting out her longwinded insults while barely having the breath to do it. This, once again, warranted another blink from Markovis.

An almost puzzled look smoothed his already placid expression. (At least being completely uncertain about what she was talking about was evident in his eyes.) Did what he say not actually count as an apology? That was what you were supposed to do, explain the reason for the issue then you could move on. He explained why the collision had occurred - neither were hurt - so what was the problem? She didn't fall.

The black-haired mage glanced back to where the collision had occurred. He briefly caught the nod from Kiba - in turn offering a slight nod of his head in similar recognition - before focusing where he bumped into her to help recall the event even though it was only a few minutes ago. He turned; she wasn't there. He started walking; she was there. He bumped into her, and caught her so she didn't fall over. He righted her, explained, then left. Why did he need to say more beyond why he bumped her if he ensured she wasn't hurt? Oh, did he not ensure she wasn't hurt? He blinked again as that realization hit him and looked back at her. "Did I step on your foot when I left? I am sorry for the harm."

Markovis glanced over at Kiba, as if the sword mage had any more information on the subject than he did. He supposed it was more for support than anything. The sword mage had been with the yappy one when the collision occurred, so obviously he was familiar with all that transpired.

Maybe saying the word would make things fine. Only one way to find out. "Now, excuse me, I have a job." He offered Kiba another nod as a goodbye. Then made certain he stepped clear of Adelyn to avoid accidentally stepping on her again as he continued on his way out of the guildhall. All he wanted to do was get out of the blasted guildhall and away from the noise. Why did such a simple task seem to be so difficult?

Faye Wrexlyn

Whatever his reasoning to agree, she supposed it was her own fault for offering for him to join. He didn't look like he'd been listening at all, nor that he particularly wanted to join her travel, yet here they were. Hell, he went on to say he clearly wasn't paying attention given they just left a daycare where she got her egg identified and he completely forgot about that like ten minutes later. What a couple of fools traveling together they would be. If he messed up her name again, she supposed their rather tenuous arrangement would end about the same time her fist hit his face. No no, don't be rash. You can do this without violence. After all, she was the one to offer they work together. Twice now.

When King swooped nearby, Tilia took to wing and joined him overhead. The smaller bird-type wasn't keen yet on riding on her shoulder, but getting a chance to fly and chatter with another bird-type seemed just up her alley.

To say Faye was quite content to just listen to the pair flying overhead chitter back and forth was an understatement. Listening to those two was far better than any conversation she could likely get out of the foreigner. Likely any more conversation between them would have brought their tremulous union to a swift end. All the better then, because as they got closer to Florasong, the cacophony of the musical city began to overtake the ability to hear the trainers Pokémon befriending one another. She had heard a lot about the music that came from this city, but she never really stopped by here. Maybe once or twice to get pictures of Aria's Garden when needing

"Okay, so I don't know about your Pokémon, but I think it might be good to make a quick stop at the local Pokecenter to make sure our teams are one hundred percent before going much further. I'm going to stop by the Pokemart too, check out what they might have different from the one in Grand Glory. But there's also supposed to be a artisan shop that sells specialty Pokeballs - that's going to be worth stopping in too. Same with Aria's Garden." That was kind of just her checklist - say it out loud and hopefully she'd stay on track. There was absolutely no guarantee that would happen, but one could hope.

As she spoke, she naturally gravitated toward leading the way toward the Pokecenter. When in doubt, it was always good to just make sure her Pokémon were at their best. Tilia and Sage may have had a rest since they battled, but they still fought hard and she never did make sure they got healed up beyond just resting. It was probably good she didn't have them battle anything. She certainly didn't want to earn a reputation as some reckless trainer that just kept throwing her Pokémon headlong into battles without properly maintaining their health. Her father would be ashamed if she did that and he ever found out. Best to just avoid it all together and just hit the Pokecenter now.

Faye Wrexlyn

Excellent, they were going to skip the forest for now. It was best, given how both teams seemed shaken to go in much less how amateur Tristan skill came off despite all his posturing. Maybe this would give her time to go back to King's Cross, or maybe stop by one of the other towns' libraries, and see if she could find a lead on that talisman she remembered reading about in that one lore book she read. It had been poetic dribble so she hadn't given it much thought, but maybe it was the way. Some regions had their ancient talismans that helped would be trainers best otherwise insurmountable odds. At least that was how the story went.

Shit, was he monologuing again? She supposed a fresh start meant actually introducing themselves to each other, but by all that was above...this guy love to hear himself talk. It took all her control to not physically roll her eyes and huff at the attempt for showiness not only the puss of a trainer displayed but the arrogance his Murkrow did as well. Honestly, his one saving grace was that Rilou. How he got that, she didn't want to ask and deal with another droning sermon of how awesome he was and everyone else sucked; that would absolutely cause her to revoke her invitation to travel together. So, ultimately, how he managed to get Princess would have to remain a mystery. At least she knew exactly how he got his Torchic. He could try to brag about that all he wanted, but from what she saw he'd metaphorically tripped over someone trying to give away the Pokémon. (Given how much of a coward Ace was, she wasn't entirely certain her assessment was entirely wrong.)

She waited a moment after he opened the floor to her, arching a brow as she waited to make sure he wouldn't butt in. Of course, he seemed to be fully content to not even pay her any mind so was an introduction really worth it? Whatever. He'd just forget her name anyways. But at least she could give their Pokémon the benefit of the doubt they might care. "Welp, I'm Faye Wrexlyn. This is Tilia, and this is Sage." She motioned to her Rowlett and Eevee when she mentioned them; Sage gave a cheerful yip while Tilia raised a wing with a hoot. "So, yeah, we'll continue on to Florasong, then. Route 2 takes us out of there and I was planning to continue on to Rheinvale then north along Route 8 to cut through Frostford and Route 9 to get to King's Cross. Hopefully my egg will hatch by then so I can show my dad the Larvesta. But, if you decide you don't want to follow me up that way, then we can part ways on Route 2 where it connects to Route 3, or in Rheinvale." If I don't ditch the jackass sooner.

Okay, so, introductions were done. Why the hell did she want to travel with him? Oh yeah, because traveling in pairs would be more fun than just traveling alone. Boy was he aiming to make her regret it. She hadn't been to Florasong in years, she only remembered the tourist bits about it, but she knew it was big enough that she could probably just lose him among the crowds if he became unbearable. She'd just have to hope he didn't get some cocky plan in his head about how he could brave the forest without someone to stop him from getting lost forever. That was future her's problem though.

"Right, so we don't need to be waiting around outside the ominous forest while a guardian stares at us...." And that was how she was leaving it. She just turned and started on her way back toward the main path, and furthermore to just continue on down it on her way to Florasong. Yes, there were pokemon along this route - ones she wanted - but it wasn't until just then she'd even remembered she'd skipped a stop at a Pokemart before leaving Grand Glory. Of all the things she didn't see a point in telling him, she certainly didn't want to admit she only had a grand total of 4 pokeballs, all of which were her starting set, on her. He already looked at her like she was trash, she wanted to keep the upper hand of clearly knowing more than he did about being a trainer.

There had been a warmness and softer expression waiting, even if only revealed for a quick moment, under that gruff exterior. It was one of those 'listen carefully and don't blink, or you'll miss it' things but she caught it. As scatterbrained as she could be, she tried to notice things from people she was already talking to. Probably better to not draw attention to it. She had found people that were gruff didn't like things like that pointed out to them, not usually.

"Never assume a job to be easy. It's always those that say that that freeze up when things go wrong." That was Nolan's initial response upon her description of the job.

Ria nodded, keeping her smile in place but a pang of worry that it might not be genuine fluttered through her head. Did he notice? Hopefully not; he was studying the description on the posting. She shouldn't have been so shortsighted to say it would be easy. If it was going to be easy, then the guards could handle it alone. What if she did freeze up? That would just be right in line with her father's assumption of her abilities. One big act of magical prowess and suddenly she thought she could do anything? Dealing with attackers was far different than just watering fields and dealing with pests getting into produce. If she couldn't efficiently train with her father, could she actually handle helping Nolan protect the shipment if they got attacked? She didn't want to rely on him to keep it safe by himself while she stood there pretty much doing nothing but failing to get her magic to respond like usual.

That was all thoughts passing through her head in the moment between his comments though. Pushing those thoughts down was far easier than breathing. More years of experience getting it right. "Well, it's not so much that anything in particular is happening. It is just that here have been more attacks than usual for this time of year and the guard is diminished in strength." A soft laugh helped brighten the smile back to its usual glow, even if he had seen the slight force to keep it there before. "Actually, it's kind of a good sign that they reached out to ask for assistance. But yes, I am certain they have been waiting on this delivery long enough."

She waited just long enough for Nolan to start walking before walking along at his side. Just remember to breathe and let your magic act naturally. She didn't want to keep reminding herself that - she was supposed to be a competent mage if she was part of a guild - but now she felt she had to. The fact that people seemed to part away from Nolan's path, and thus hers, made it easier to be lost to her thoughts as they walked. Once they were out of the guildhall and starting down the street toward their contact, the smell of some fresh cooked pastries from a nearby shop drifted into her nose. The distracted smile on her face was replaced by another radiant one and excited mismatched eyes turned on Nolan. "Oh! Have you had much chance to explore Rembrandt? I know you've been here a bit, but I would imagine you haven't really gone out exploring it. Maybe after the mission I could show you around a little. There are some wonderful little hidden spots around town that you might enjoy visiting. That's if you are up for it, that is. Just, you know, think about it and let me know." It hadn't even occurred to her how the proposal sounded; then again, she also hadn't seen that Kiba had intentionally abandoned Nolan with her.

Faye Wrexlyn

Walking silently to the next destination was the absolute best thing that could have happened. Faye wasn't interested in any more chatting with the prick. No, no, she chided herself. The guy clearly wasn't from the region, had some kind of image to maintain from his own region, and didn't realize nobody gave a shit who he or his family were. There was also the little fact it was majorly apparent he was in over his head with this whole being a trainer thing. So being a prick was probably his coping mechanism for being uncomfortable and trying not to show it.

The point remained, however, that it was far better they did walk without talking to each other. What would they talk about anyways? How much of a douche he had been since they got their starters? How much he doesn't know about this region and its history? Would be more useful to just go over fundamentals with him: explain different pokemon diets, proper grooming for different types, and other basic concepts that would help him improve as starting trainer with basic moves before his pokemon start getting into advanced techniques. But, that would require him to be tolerable.

Faye's pensive mood changed when Tristan stopped before the forest path. She stopped as well, peering beyond him at the mist pouring forth from those woods. Sage hesitated, tucking a step back behind her as Tilia ruffled then resettled her feathers. Neither seemed too interested to get much closer and she couldn't blame them. It wasn't exactly the kind of place she figured most would want to go. At least the guy wasn't stupid enough to go marching straight in. If he was that brazen - she wasn't sure she would have been able to run fast enough to make sure he was okay after he got through the first row of trees.

She had prepared a snippy retort to the start of his little speech, but his quick coverup to refrain from calling her frumpy again caught it up in her throat. She blinked and just listened, trying to swallow down her surprise. Was he...trying to be nice? Now that was a first. The prospect of foolishly heading straight into the unknown in a region he knew little about just to get one up on her was obviously enough to scare him if he was rescinding his challenge to propose they work together instead. Partners until a discovery then battle to see who gets to claim it? What did she have to say to it?

"No." She blinked as she looked from him to the forest then back to him. "Okay, so let me expand on that. If it comes to a discovery - no, I'm not going to battle you for the right to claim a discovery. First of all - you wouldn't make any discoveries about the forest if it wasn't for me even suggesting you come with me to do it, so if you want to continue to join me on the adventure into it, you can at least agree to sharing credit like I was going to do. But yea, for the rest of it - we can train if you think that will make you any better equipped at venturing in. Until you change that attitude of yours though, I think you'll have a tough go getting far in that forest even if you do train up."

She looked at Sage, who nudged her leg. He yipped softly then nudged her again. The purple haired trainer sighed and looked back at the city boy across from her. "So, I think the better compromise is: we start fresh. Proper introductions, bit of respect, and move on equally from here. You're not from this region and don't seem like you did much homework on it, whereas I'm from here and I know a decent amount about points of interest and where I grew up. Seems like you benefit more from the deal given you're not exactly bringing much to it aside from just traveling company. Then, when you're attitude is better and you're ready to handle the forest, we can do it together with equal credit to anything we discover in there. How does that sound?"

Interactions: Nolan @hatakekuro

"Wonderful!" Ria chirped with delight. Her cheerful smile brightened more. She never fully got a handle on exactly what Nolan could do aside from that he was definitely not a pushover in a fight, but she was certain that they would do well working together. Okay, well, not so much well but - she wanted to help him get out of the bar where he seemed displeased to be and knew he couldn't exactly take a job the city guard had posted without someone there to help act as the middle man for conversations between them. There was also the slight fact that, while she was absolutely certain she could help and complete jobs there was the nagging feeling in the back of her mind that she'd mess up something and that could lead to someone that she was supposed to be helping getting hurt. Nope, that wasn't going to happen. She had this. Just like watering plants. She just had to breathe and treat her magic as natural as breathing. There wouldn't be any problems.

"Yes, I certainly remember the terms you have with the guards," she caught herself from giggling. "But I generally have a good relationship with most of the townsfolk and many of the guard. I would be more than happy to do all of the talking and keep their attention toward me to help draw any undue tension and trouble from you. We'd be there to help, after all. And I know just the job to help start improving things!"

She didn't wait for him to get up from his seat. She'd heard of a job getting put on the board that she figured she could actually manage to do. It was just a matter of ensuring it was still available. The water mage wove between bodies and ducked under a gesturing arm of an unaware patron before popping up at the job board. A quick scan later, she'd found exactly what she was looking for, snatched up the listing, and wove back over to stop beside Nolan.

"Here! She slammed the paper down before him with a grin once again radiating on her face. "This is the perfect job for us. It should be pretty easy, but it is specifically helping the guard bring supplies to another garrison - which is a wonderful way to remind them that you're here to help, not cause problems. So the way I envision this working out is that I can help drum up the good faith between both parties and that completing this job, successfully delivering the garrison their much needed supplies, should help ingratiate you with them with very little effort on your part or even needing to speak to them. Like you suggested and I agreed, I can do all the talking. Easy peasy, yes?"

Faye Wrexlyn

Faye's arched a brow when he first poked her shoulder. Again, posturing. Who was he performing for? Or did he think this was really going to make her change her opinion of him? So far, she was still markedly unimpressed.

"Well, for starters, I called you asshole - not a coward. So there's that," she said as she turned and just crossed her arms, watching him walk off without her. "But sure. You go right ahead and do that. I'll hang out in the field with Sage and Tilia, and you can go tempt the forest guardian with that shit attitude of yours."

She shrugged in agreement with herself and summoned out Tilia, who landed on her shoulder with a curious hoot, and Sage, who yipped with a curious tilt of his head before trotting along beside her. There had to be something to this prick that Adriana saw in him that indicated he'd be a good trainer - potentially a champion (though that thought made her stomach roll). For the life of her she was having trouble figuring it out.

For now she regrettably tied herself to this guy. She supposed she was bound to make a bad decision or two her first days as a trainer. It just sucked that being saddled with such a jackass was one of them.

The purple haired trainer sighed softly as she walked with her pokemon. She needed a better attitude for their sake. Tilia had been bristling until Faye stroked her feathers and offered her a soft smile. "It's fine. For as much of a chore as that guy is trying to be, we won't actually let him get hurt," she whispered. Sage gave a relieved yip to match Tilia's hopeful hoot.
