"Ok," Michelle said before looking around, wondering where the obvious spots were to misplace cards. There were the bleachers, but Ben was already searching in one corner, so Michelle walked over to the other side to begin her search. Just as she knelt down, though, Ben was already on the move to the side of the gym opposite from them. Michelle stared at Ben for a few seconds as he hurried along, wondering how he was able to search an area that quickly. She decided to go search through that area herself, doubting that Ben had done it properly.
Just by looking, you wouldn't really tell that there was anything to be found. When Michelle lifted up a mat, however, she found a Noble Knight card underneath. Upon lifting more mats, Michelle had uncovered another Noble Knight card. As she continued to find as many as she could, Michelle smiled slightly. They were nice cards, and she was glad to be able to help Ben. At the same time, though, there was a nagging feeling in the back of her mind, telling her that something wasn't right, that something about the whole situation was off. She couldn't really tell what it was, though, and the feeling subsided. She searched a little more, but decided that she had done what she could and walked over to Ben. "I found as many cards as I could. I hope this is all of them," Michelle said, holding out the cards in one hand.
And to think I was planning to create elves myself at one point. Oh well, that was an idea that never got off the ground anyway, and I'd probably botch it up horribly.
Vincent sat there shuffling his deck through his hands as he listened with a slightly impaitent look upon his face. He watched Leander take a seat opposite him as he placed his deck to the left of him withing arms reach of course. It was closer to the wall then to the rest of the room in order to ease his paranoia that someone might take it. "So..." Vincent began dragging his words on. "Are you going to be alright? You look traumatized," He said pointing to Amelia as she sat down.
"Huh?! O-oh yeah... I'm fine." Amelia said, her voice a bit shakey as she spoke. She quickly tried to think up of a plausible excuse for her behavior before speaking again. "Just... just had a bad night last night so I'm not... really here."
"Yeah, it was terrible," Leander said, sounding solemn as he shuffled his deck. "We got ambushed by a buncha Dark Dorm students, and Amelia and a guy called Joshua was forced to Duel the leader." Placing his sufficiently shuffled deck back down, Leander continued, "They won, though, so at least that's good."
"Yea, thats good." Vincent said as he watched Leander shuffle his deck. "At least you guys won, so no need to be so traumatized." Vincent said pointing at Amelia as if in slight disdain. "Also, to save the whole process of rock paper scissors... You can go first." Vincent said putting the offer on the table.
"Alrighty then, here we go!" Leander said before examining his hand. "First, I'll place these two cards face-down, then I'll set a monster too. Turn End!"
"I draw." Vincent began as he added the card from his deck to his hand. eyeing his options he looked towards his opponents somewhat defensive board. "I activate my Spell card, Allure of Darkness" He said as he drew two cards. It was a risky move as he didn't have any DARK monsters in his hand to start with. He sighed as he banished his Chaos Sorceror. "Next I activate my Mystical Space Typhoon, targeting the first card you set." He said tapping it lightly with his fingers.
Leander frowned sadly as he placed his now-destroyed Negate Attack into the Graveyard pile. "Aww, I needed that," Leander said.
"Negate Attack? Interesting," Vincent said as he conintued his turn. "Next I'll activate Foolish Burial, sending my 'Chaos Emissary - Split Persona' from my Deck to my Graveyard." Vincent continued. "This allows me to Special Summon 1 Chaos Emissary Gateway."
Chaos Emissary - Different Dimension Gateway Level 6 DARK Effect Monster ATK/DEF: 0/2100
"The effect of my Split Persona activates, allowing me to send one Chaos Emissary Lux from my Deck to my graveyard." Vincent said as he placed the monster from the deck into the graveyard. "Now the effect of my Gateway activates, Special Summoning Split Persona from the Graveyard in Attack Position."
"Battle phase, I attack your face down monster with Chaos Emissary Split Persona." Vincent said as he motioned to what he was attacking.
Leander's face-down monster was revealed to be Nova Summoner, and then it was promptly destroyed. "I activate the effect of Nova Summoner!" Leander began. "When it's destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, I can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower LIGHT Fairy-type monster from my Deck." He picked up his deck and began searching through it, muttering, "Hmm what should I Summon...." Fortunately, Leander was quick to make his decision, exclaiming, "I'll Summon you!" as he pulled out a card and placing it on the field. "Freya, Spirit of Victory, in Defense Position! Also, Freya gives 400 ATK and DEF to all Fairy-type monsters I control."
"Annoying, but what can you do." Vincent said as he hung his head in slightly annoyance. "I set two cards and pass my turn to you." He said finishing off his turn with what could only be described as a slight loathing.
"My turn!" Leander said, drawing his next card. As he glanced at his drawn card, Leander's eyes lit up. "There you are," Leander said as he returned his attention to the board. "I activate the Spell card: Court of Justice! This allows me to Special Summon one Fairy-type monster from my hand as long as I control a Level 1 Fairy-type monster. Using this effect, I Special Summon Airknight Parshath!"
Leander grinned with delight as he placed down his cards. Things were going alright so far. "Battle Phase! My Airknight Parshath attacks your Chaos Emissary - Split Persona!" Leander declared, pointing at Vincent's card.
Vincent frowned again as his monster was destroyed, resulting in the depletion of his Life Points. Simple enough, but he had just lost the monster he wanted to attack with, nevertheless.
Vincent 4000 -> 3300
"And now that Airknight Parshath dealt some battle damage, his effect allows me to draw 1 card," Leander explained, drawing another card from his deck. "I'll just place this card face-down and end my turn."
Vincent looked at his hand then back to the field. This was gonna be completely fun and fair right? Right? Well, at least he had set a useful card. "Trap Activate, Trap Stun!" Vincent said smiling as he flipped the card over.
Leander got a sense of foreboding when Trap Stun was activated. Perhaps it was the fact that Trap Stun was activated without Leander activating something first, or perhaps it was just simply panic at seeing it. Either way, Leander reacted quickly. "I activate Lightforce Sword!" Leander countered. "The card in your hand, not the one you drew this turn, is now banished face-down until your 4th Standby Phase."
"The card you banished" Vincent said with a sort of show mans flair as he twirled it in his fingers placing it down. "Mystery Shell Dragon." He said with a smirk."You missed." he said with a menacing tone.
"Agghhh," Leander yelled out in dismay, placing a hand on his eyes as he threw his head back. "Oh well, it happens."
"Next I'll banish my Chaos Emissary Lux and My Chaos Emissary Split Persona to Special Summon one of my two ace monsters. You may have seen him before." Vincent said as he placed his card down on the table. "I Special Summon Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning," Vincent said as he placed the card face up in ATK position on the table.
"Effect of Chaos Emissary Lux occurs, negating the effect of one monster you control, I negate the effect of 'Freya, Spirit of Victory'," Vincent said as he continued "Next, Chaos Emissary - Split Persona. Using its effect, I send one Electromagnetic Turtle from my deck to the graveyard.
"Battle Phase!" Vincent declared as he motioned to the two targets. "First my Envoy shall attack Freya." Vincent said imaginging the sword of the sword against the fairy. Then Envoy triggers again attacking, your Parshath." He said with a slight flourish.
"That hurts, man," Leander said, placing his now-destroyed monsters into the Graveyard pile. "Just you wait, though, I'll get you back, or at least I'll try."
"Draw." Vincent said as he drew his next card. "Battle Phase, attacking again with the Envoy," Vincent Said as he pointed at the face down.
Leander flipped up his card, revealing it to be a Counselor Lily before sending it to the Graveyard. "Well, that's the last bit of defense I got," Leander said, sad to see his card destroyed so mercilessly.
"B.L.S, rise again, strike while the iron is hot. Direct Attack!" Vincent declared.
Leander: 2900 LP -> 0 LP
"Noooo!" Leander cried out as his Life Points were sent to zero, leaving back heavily against the chair he was sitting on. Sighing, Leander straightened back up and said, "Thanks for the match, man. Looks like my deck and I got a lot of work ahead of us."
"Yea yea yea, I get it. People need work, not everyone is strong enough. Thats how I even ended up in the DARK Dorm in the first place." Vincent said almost sounding like he was loathing himself. "It's fine though. So... The question is: what now?"
"I dunno about you, but I gotta get to work on improving my deck, figure out what went wrong and how to improve from there, and all sorts of other stuff," Leander answered, moving a finger in a circle absentmindedly.
"Well, It obviously needs a better way to handle attrition based decks. Maybe focus on monsters with a bit more ATK and you'll be okay. Otherwise focus on beefing the spell and trap cards you already have." Vincent said with a slight wave off as if to act as if he had just given a gospel truth.
"Yeah, maybe you're right," Leander said. Getting up from his chair, he announced, "Well, time to go find some new cards! I'm coming for you, new friends!" Leander then began marching off towards the shelves of card packs, humming a tune he had just made up.
Hey, @Antarctic Termite, now that I'm looking back on so many posts that I've skimmed and forgotten , I do have a question: did you ever do anything with Hefin the modified Angel ever since his intro post?
-Niciel makes her way through the former battleground between the Angels and Grot, searching for the cause of her Wisps acting strangely there. -After a brief scuffle, it is discovered that an Elemental of Plants has been feeding on them to grow. -Niciel asks the Elemental a few questions to gain more information about her, and learns that the Elemental has accelerated the growth of her primary tree by absorbing the nutrients and energy of those fallen in the battle against Vestec's Horde, particularly the dust of dead Angels. From there, she then learned how to absorb the power of the passing Wisps to grow even further. -Niciel asks the Elemental to promise to protect passersby with pure souls, which she agrees to. To thank the Elemental, Niciel grants her two gifts before leaving: the name "Holly", and the ability to detect Purity.
1 Might spent on a gift for the Elemental.

Niciel walked through what was once the battlefield of the Angels and the Chaos Horde, her staff tapping along the ground. Her Wisps had alerted her of something here. Normally, she would have left this place for later, but what made their alerts so different from the others was that every time it happened, it immediately stopped. Her Wisps were not supposed to do that, which meant that something was here disrupting them, and Niciel intended to find out what.
Niciel still would have preferred not to come here, though. Even now, Niciel could still see tiny pockets of the destruction left behind. A crater here, a fallen blade there, even the giant trail of destruction from Grot. Niciel knelt down and gently lifted a leaf on a steam of a bush. She could still feel the faint energy left behind by the Angels that had fallen in that battle. Now was not the time to feel regret about the past, though; she was here for business.
Niciel began her search by sending a number of Wisps out to wander. She would be keeping a close eye on them; if anything happened to them, she would know instantly. Niciel had expected time to drag on as she waited, but surprisingly, two were quickly taken out, one after the other. With a blink of light, Niciel was at the spot instantly, watching a group of vines recede within a rather large and sturdy tree.
Niciel tried to be cautious when approaching, but the plants were quick, roots and vines shooting out to wrap themselves around Niciel's wrists and ankles. By instinct, Niciel released a small nova of Holy energy, which should have been enough to burn away her restraints. While they did burn slightly, the damage was quickly regenerated and they grew thicker instead. Alarmed, Niciel teleported out of their grasp. The vines and roots uncurled themselves, as if confused that she was no longer restrained by them, then retreated back. What was confusing, though, was why the plants did what they did. As far as Niciel knew, plants did not normally act in such a way. Slough surely did not do this, nor was this the work of other Gods. Niciel did not sense any essences of living beings either.
"You... you're different," a feminine voice slowly whispered. "Not like the Floaties." Niciel looked around, but found no one around her. As she tried to sense anything to help her locate whatever it was, however, she felt something else. It was not any sort of essence, but rather something... different. Niciel realized that it was a form of life, without a doubt, but much different from what she had previously encountered, a... flicker, for lack of a better description.
"Who are you, and why did you try to attack me?" Niciel asked. She was cautious, but not angry. Instead, she was curious.
"Attack?" the voice asked, confused. "No, not attack. Feed. You have much energy, much food to absorb. Much more than the Floaties. Enough for a long time."
That explains what happened, then, Niciel thought to herself. "Floaties? Do you mean my Wisps?"
"...Maybe..." the voice answered after taking a moment to think.
"And your name?" Niciel continued to ask.
"Hmm.... no name. Haven't needed one, so haven't thought of one," the voice replied.
"So then, what are you?"
"...Force of Change. Djinn. Elemental of Plants," the elemental eventually answered.
Change... Zephyrion's creation, probably, Niciel thought. "That still doesn't explain why you are eating my Wisps, though."
The elemental was silent for a while, as if trying to come up with an answer, then eventually replied, "...Food."
"Well, yes, I know you eat them for food, but... hmm... no, I am asking the wrong question. How are you eating my Wisps? They should not be absorbed that easily."
"Ah, yes. Very tricky, always explode-y. At first, they hurt so much when trying to absorb them. Had to grow more, learned how to absorb that, and now am finally able to do so."
"Do you have to eat Wisps, though? Can you not just absorb sunlight and water?" Niciel asked.
"Can, but ever since the Battle, gained much energy. Learned that Floaties have much more energy to absorb at once," the elemental whispered cheerfully.
"The Battle?" Niciel continued. "You mean the battle with Vestec's army?"
"....Maybe," the elemental answered after a bit of thought. "Many creatures fell. All that fell in that battle became food for the trees, but the winged creatures that fell, those turned to dust. It was very full of energy. Absorbed much of that dust, and managed to grow much faster than the other trees because of that."
"I see," Niciel said. As she walked closer and placed a hand on the tree trunk, she continued, "So my Angels helped you grow into what you are now." Looking up at the foliage above in the branches, Niciel asked, "Will you promise me something?"
"...What is it?"
Niciel's gaze turned serious as she spoke, "There may be times when those that need help come here. It may just be a wandering individual looking for shelter from rain, or even searching for protection from something trying to kill that individual. If any pure souls come seeking that protection, will you offer you aid and protect them as best you can?"
The elemental thought about this for a while. She wasn't sure if she wanted to be bound by her word. However, Niciel didn't seem like anyone to be wary of, and the elemental enjoyed their time conversing. The elemental figured it was least she could do. "Ok, promise," the elemental agreed.
"Thank you," Niciel said. "Before I go, I'd like to give you a couple of gifts as well. Will you accept them?"
"...Yes, will."
"The first will be a name for you. I have decided to call you 'Hazel'," Niciel said.
"...Like it. It is nice," Hazel admitted.
"The second... is this," Niciel added, lifting her left palm and creating a small orb of pink light, then gently pushing it into the tree, allowing it to be absorbed into the tree, then into Hazel's Flicker.
Hazel wasn't entirely sure what happened after that. She began to sense something.... new. Hazel could only describe it as some sort of light, but it was unlike any light she had ever seen before. She certainly couldn't absorb it like sunlight. It was everywhere around her, but it was especially bright from Niciel. "What... is this?" Hazel asked.
"This is the ability to sense Purity," Niciel explained, taking her hand off Hazel's tree. "This will aid you in our promise with each other. Use it how you will."
As Niciel was about to leave, Hazel called out to her, "Wait. What is your name?"
Niciel smiled warmly as she replied, "I am Niciel, the Goddess of Light." And with a flash of light, she was gone.
Things were back to being quiet again. Hazel pondered the events that had just transpired, as well as the gifts she had just received. Few beings ever came to this place, especially now since the place was once a battlefield. Even so, Hazel resolved to uphold the promise she made with Niciel. It was her pride as an Elemental.
