Out of the frying pan... Midori looked on in horror as the Negari crawled out of its own corpse, and even worse, brought friends along. There must have been twenty of them, at least. Sure, they didn't look dangerous individually, but if the bees sting the bear enough...

She needed a plan of action, and the choice was obvious. If she faced the big Negari again with her mana drained, she'd be a pulp in seconds, so she turned on the horde of minions. She spun her staff at one of the drill-like creatures, smacking it in the flank, then the back of the head, and finally finished it off with a strike from above that crushed its skull. Then, she saw Aegis in trouble. "Hang on, Aegis! I'm coming for you!"
Midori's just about out of mana after nuking the crab, so what chance would she have in straight hand-to-hand against one of these new Negari?
God, I love writing Megumi. Such unintentional stupidity.
"Thanks for that!" Midori saw the weak spot, plain as day. The trick of it was exploiting that fact. Last she checked, it was a lot easier to get lightning to go from cloud to ground than the other way around. Then, an idea started to form in her head.

With a move so daring she'd later question her sanity at the time, she ran towards the Negari and slid under it, jamming her metal staff into the crab-thing's vulnerable underside. This didn't do much more than annoy it, but it set the stage for the kill shot.

Popping up on the other side, she raised her hands. Electric Pillar! A large lightning bolt shot up from the ground, searching as electricity always does for the path of least resistance. In this particular instance, it was up through Midori's staff, and thence into the Negari, which was fried from the inside out. The coup de grace came as the lightning ripped through the crab's back, after which it twitched once before going still.

"Whew..." Midori swayed unsteadily on her feet. It was tough just to stay transformed and standing, but she'd dealt with the threat. Then, Megumi chimed in. "Midori! There's another concentration of magic! Could be a second Negari, but I'm not sure!"

"And you didn't tell me this because...?"

"You didn't ask."

All Midori could do was bury her head in her hands. "Why me?"
Anyone got a problem with me dropping a heavy attack on the crab Negari? May or may not finish it off, but will definitely leave it crippled.
Name: Saen

Age: 20

Gender: Female

Race: Lamia

Sexuality: Lesbian

Class: Spellsword

Has a black cobra hood.

Weapon: A three-foot-long straight sword made of mithril. It's stronger and sharper than an ordinary sword, but otherwise has no magical properties

Armor: Leather armor on her human bits, unarmored on her snake half.

Personal trinkets: none

History: Saen is a wandering mage from a faraway desert. Many lamia live a nomadic lifestyle, traveling to find work where they can, and Saen is no exception. Being a mage makes it a little easier, but she isn't a strong spellcaster. She's stopping at the inn for a few days to rest, but if she can find permanent employment, she just might stay.

Other: Saen's magic tends to be best at mental spells: telepathy, illusion, that sort of thing. She can't control minds, but she can influence them. She also has a venomous bite.

Fuck your rules.
Okay, that's... bigger than I expected. Midori looked around as the Negari charged out. She'd been expecting something the size of a bear, maybe a rhinoceros, tops. This thing was large enough that "large" simply didn't compute. It took Megumi basically bellowing in her ear to get her attention.

"Midori, you have to move! Get out of there!"

Midori rolled to the side just in time to avoid being crushed under a massive claw. Bless her dumb little heart, her fairy had gotten her head in the game. She took stock of the situation. That armor looks pretty thick. I don't think I can penetrate it, at least on the first try. I'm going to have to make my own weak spot. She dug her heels in, took careful aim, and cried out, "Thunder Cannon!"

The Negari took the blast in the flank, but its armor absorbed some of the hit. A decent amount of black goop oozed from the wound, and Midori flashed a fierce smile. She'd hurt it. A few more shots like that, and it would be down for the count.
Sorry folks. had computer issues
Should I have the Negari show up in my next post?
"Just want to make certain we've got some options, in case we run into a Negari that's too much to handle alone." Midori entered the numbers into her phone. All of a sudden, Megumi shuddered.

"What's going on?" Midori asked the tiny fairy.

"Negari just formed, and a good size one, too. It's a ways off, but coming towards us. I think it's sensed us. We've got maybe two minutes before it gets here."

"Crap." Midori looked around. Wide open space, no civilians. Don't think it's a bad place for a fight. "Pink, Violet- you girls ready to strut your stuff?" A ball of electricity appeared in Midori's hand, waiting for the target to show itself.
