The fall day was crisp and beautiful, and Susan looked out her office windows. The leaves were turning, the birds were singing... and she was stuck inside doing paperwork. HeartShine's new principal groaned. She took a look and realized that she was about an hour ahead of schedule. Fast typing helped a lot. She decided to head to the main entrance and greet the students as they came in.

Carmen had picked up a taxi from the airport and got out at the school. She took a look at the grounds, which were absolutely immaculate. This is the place for me. I think I'll like it here. She stopped at a bench and just drank it all in; she didn't have to unpack her stuff right away, after all. There was plenty of time.

Personality: Susan is a quiet, calm woman. She looks after her students like a mother hen, even if she seems to be a little overprotective at times. Her teachers appreciate the wide amount of latitude she gives them, but she's also not afraid to step in if things get out of hand. She's an avid reader, and her office is plastered with posters of classic literature from around the world.

Bio: Susan is half-Japanese and half-American, and growing up, she always felt different from the other kids in San Diego, never quite belonging to any one group. She often swam in the ocean, but when she was twelve, she got caught in a ripcurrent and nearly drowned before her powers activated. The next year, she got accepted to HeartShine, and never looked back.

Susan was a wonder at HeartShine, proving to be both powerful and smart, as well as one of the bravest girls the school had to offer. When she graduated, she took a job with the San Diego PD back home, getting the call whenever the cops needed some magic to resolve a situation. Her alma matter eventually offered her a position teaching the first-years, and when the previous headmistress retired, Susan took over the school.

Personality: Loud, brash, and in your face, Carmen tends to have a problem with rubbing people the wrong way, but get past that, and she's a loyal friend. She's also a great athlete, and enjoys going out for evening runs.

Bio: Carmen is from Cancun, Mexico. Her parents ran a small inn to cater to the tourists, nothing too special. Unbeknownst to her, her mother was the famous magical girl La Gata, and she discovered her powers in a panic when an old enemy of her mother's came to their house looking for revenge. Somehow, she caused a flurry of rock shards to impale the criminal, and her mother came clean about her own past, offering to train Carmen until she was old enough to go to HeartShine. She's a freshman now, and looking forward to proving herself, though she also carries the burden of her mother's legacy,
