Clunk.
The sound of Celeste's boots against the earthen tiles of a rooftop echoed through the eerily silent night. It was 2 am and naturally, there wasn't a single person around. A slow wind picked up, causing empty tumblers on the tarmac to roll on their side, before coming to a quick stop against the curb. Even the crickets had taken their retreat for the night . Streetlights flickered momentarily as they cast orange pools of light on the empty roads.
Cel shook off her blades, causing the grimy material on them to come off, before causing the blades to disappear in a glade of petals. The last fight she had been in was with a familiar who hadn't dropped any grief seed. Her soul gem wasn't particularly clouded, but out of a tendency to horde things, Cel liked to keep one on her most of the time. She held her soul gem in her cupped hands, staring listlessly at it. Her thoughts were far away. Tomorrow was Monday. She had to get up early as the commute to her campus took more than half an hour.
Then her gem started flaring, bringing her back to the present. It began emitting a familiar low hum. There was a witch nearby. Cel couldn't pinpoint its location exactly, but she guessed it was around the school.
Cel took out a pocket-watch.
It was almost 3 now.
She converted back, a plain dress now taking place of her magical girl outfit. She'd had enough for the night and decided to return home. Besides, Streim had a bunch of other magical girls as well. She hadn't met any yet in person, but they were here. That was the only way how some witches were taken care of before she could deal with them herself. Also given its location, she could always deal with the witch tomorrow. She needed her sleep. Lack of sleep made her cranky and irritable.
Soon she was at home, safe under the covers of her bed. Cel's body was tired but somehow her mind was still racing with various thoughts. Sleep did not come immediately to her, but somehow it managed to creep within her thoughts, sending her to a deep slumber.
