Current Cleaning day! Made a ton of progress and even found my long lost DS and my missing laundry card that still has a lot of credits on it. Found it in my winter coat of all places go figure.

Finally got into D&D. Now I feel trapped and I am in love. Should I ask for help or ask where I can get more dice?

Breaks ups are weird. Not sure how to feel about the other person, or about yourself. It hurts for sure, but it's weird and uncomfortable just how different things seem now.

The briefing was hard, but it was well needed. And thinking about it, Manny could see why they did it. The scene was almost like ripping off a band aid, get it over with once, then it would likely be dropped forever. Who didn't have an experience like that at some point? Everyone probably had a lot of those now, some worse then others. Everyone had a moment to process what they were told, Manny barely registered that it was time to leave until he saw everyone getting up. Did someone say something? Was he so in his own thoughts that he wasn't registering things correctly now? He stood up, and noticed Beatrice was staying behind for the time being. Thinking back, he did remember some names being listed, hers wasn't one of them. Manny almost offered to stay with her as everyone else was leaving, but he figured that wouldn't help anything at this point.

Manny followed the others back and found himself a comfortable enough chair to rest in. He couldn't get the images out of his head, the story that they have been told, everything. It was... a lot to take in. Manny normally in situations like this would think of something to say to help bring up the mood, but he had nothing now. He looked around the room to see what had happened while he was gone, seemed Wayne was now watching babies. Manny wouldn't have considered that though very much, but the man seemed protective enough. Though Manny did question his care taking abilities. Thinking about it, Manny never had kids, and decided as long as he wasn't being a dick to the kid he was probably fine. They seemed to be having a good time. He noticed Hunter playing pool with one of the guards, a girl surprisingly younger then he was by the looks of it. It was cute in a way, Hunter seemed like an awkward teenager who was just going with the motions struggling what to say. Manny missed those days, but he was glad to see that there was some good things happening still.

There was another movie playing, Manny never got into movies as much. Sure there were exceptions, but overall they were just not his thing. Though he did notice everyone having a good time with it. The last few months were hard, painful, and scary in more ways then he could count. But, things were looking up for the first time in a long time. He just needed to see this place outside of this room to get a good solid idea of what this place was really like. That was most of his stress and fear now, what was this place actually like?

To say that Hunter was socially inept, was a pretty accurate statement. The only people he really got along with growing up were his siblings and their friends. While in the National Guard he got along with some members of his unit pretty well, but he wouldn't really call any his friends. A lot of it stemmed from trust issues he never knew how to overcome, and the fact that he lived in the middle of nowhere with a pretty comfortable life. As comfortable as living on a scrap yard could be at least. But it was heaven for him. Even int he worst of times. Especially in the worst of times. So all of this, trying to get along with people who other then a few minor instances in the early days haven't done much to make Hunter feel like he would get stabbed in the back, was strange for Hunter. Everyone he felt he could trust since the world changed seemed to betray Hunter in some way, and he just couldn't get his mind across all of this as well as he wanted to.

But Nikki, Checkbook, was something different. He was still worried that this was a trick, but she seemed nice enough. He laughed a bit at the reasoning for her code name. "I had several members of my old unit call me Greyjoy, I never understood why until near the end of my training when one of the guys told me I reminded them of someone in a book who smiled at all the wrong things. I asked what book, they told me the name, can't remember it now. I just remember the name sounding silly." She was right about the mac and Chilly with cheese. Probably the best MRE as long as it didn't make you sick. "There was a beef jalapeno one I really liked though, found it once, never again. Should have written down which meal it was." He said thinking back to when he raided his old Units food reserve. Hunter let out a laugh for the distillery situation. He stopped once he realized he laughed out loud. He stopped himself with a look resembling fear. Did he laugh too much? Did he show too much of himself? Did he even know what of himself he was showing? He relaxed at the talk about Maddog. Seemed right so far, though he wasn't a fan of getting threatened to get shot. Sure first day kind of justified that, but he felt the other times it was over the top. But maybe that was the point.

She seemed to be enjoying the fact that he fucked up his shot. He let himself smile again as she took aim again. When she told her age though that confused him, even with the clarification. He stood there puzzled and confused. Almost like someone spoke to him in a language he didn't understand. Then it registered. "Ohhhhh. Okay that makes sense now." As if answering his own thoughts. Not long after it was his turn, but he was still hung up on Checkbook's comments about Izibell. He was glad to hear she was doing well, getting air, enjoying life. But it was hard for Hunter to be without her. She made him feel safe, helped with with his nightmares. He made sure she ate before he did, she meant everything to him. He missed her, but was glad to hear she was okay. His emotions were showing again, he realized before he took his shot and wiped his face off noticing nothing. And he put on a strait face again, like nothing had happened. "Cool cool. Yeah lets uh..." He was distracted. He was struggling to stay focused on what he was doing. Then he remembered, it was pool, something simple.

He set up for his next shot and took it. The shot was clearly poor, but it went in well enough. He took a deep breath and made another. "Huh, looks like I am having a comeback. Better watch out or you'll lose to some poor asshole stuck in a conference room." He took another shot, it went in. Hunter surprised himself, he rarely got a third in a row, this was his chance to come back. He took another shot a bit preemptively and messed it up. "Welp, that sucks." SO much for getting the upper hand. "Well it seems that the pool table is cheating again. Not sure what to tell you other then you wont be able to see my true powers of pool while it's in this mood." He was going to make the most out of now, he knew that soon he would get his fate determined. That scared him, like most things. But unlike most things that Hunter was scared of, this one couldn't be solved with a sawed off shotgun. Not with a high likelihood to win at least.

Manny was quiet as Gunny spoke. It didn't take long to figure out what was going on here. He was explaining the events of the last few months, but from the point of view from Thana, and Camp Mexico Beach. Manny's thoughts of those months have left him very emotionally divided. There were moments where he felt sad, where he felt guilt, where he felt bitter, and where he was hopeful. Sometimes there was a combination of emotions that Manny couldn't understand which only left him frustrated. After all his years on this earth, it was weird for him when he experienced a part of himself he didn't understand. And just like he had at points over the last few months, he didn't know how he felt yet again. He was glad to see Thana alive and well enough, he was worried about her condition from the injuries she received, he was frustrated with the fact that she left without sorting things out on their end, but thankful that she took the steps to keep the horde of their back. But even with that forethought, it was still forethought. Even with the best intentions it was still risky as hell.

But what other choice did they really have? Who could go with her and do an effective run? Other then Beatrice, no one really. Alexander despite his best efforts at the time was still limited in mobility, Thalia was bedridden and at a high risk for an infection that may or may not kill her, and Manny himself was getting too old to do anything that required speed and efficiency. Plus, even though he didn't doubt Beatrice's and Alexander's abilities to keep Thalia safe while in recovery, if the infection got worse and Thana didn't come back, there were not a lot of people who could start on plan B's. Manny thinking about that too, he wasn't a great option for that either. He wasn't that kind of doctor. Just... A doctor. The wrong kind, but still a doctor. No... Even without knowing what they know now, someone had to leave and get supplies. It was a miracle that Thalia didn't get to a state that they couldn't treat her with what they had on them.

Manny took a moment to look at the photos of Thana in recovery. He didn't flinch or react much looking at them. He opened up people's faces for a living, before and after the world was taken over by walking corpses. Though this was on a much more drastic scale then he usually handled. He made note to take note from the doctors here at some point so he could try and learn a thing or two from them. It was a miracle Thana was alive, but she was, and so was Alexander despite all that risk, and so was Thalia despite all the risk there.

Manny regretted not trying to follow things up more once they heard a little about Thana, at the very least to know that she was alive, and just out looking for their little group... "okay... this is.. a lot to take in." He let out with a heavy exhale. He almost wished he was a brewer again, a drink would be good about now. Maybe he should have put it on things he wanted to do when he filled out that paper a week ago. But all things considering, their little group was back together and alive. And now, a lot more then a little amount of people. Everything they had gone through the last few months has led to this. To Camp Mexico Beach. Only time would tell what this place would be like, but Thana being here, alive and still fighting, that was a good enough reference for Manny.

Hunter decided that this girl was someone he could like, though he would have to find ways to not compare her to people he used to know. She was pretty strait forward with her name, and Hunter did appreciate that. He was sure she did have a code name, everyone here seemed to have a code name. But he liked the fact that she gave a real name. "That's a nice name. Both... The short and the..." He was tripping over words again, he wasn't particularly stressed right now, so he wasn't completely sure why. Though fluke situations did happen sometimes. He hasn't really talked to people in a long time. "You know what I mean." Nikki did reassure Hunter that if she could make it here, anyone could. He stopped himself from saying 'We'll see about that'. He figured it wouldn't help anything.

Hearing how things used to be Hunter did a bit of a chuckle to that. "Two months? Damn, that seems excessive. And expensive. Especially when considering half the people here were from the outside. Even a week is pushing it in my mind, but they can do that if they really want. Just wish there was more to do in here. Even if it was just some simple tasks or jobs." Hunter was back to thinking that this place was a bit over the top sometimes. Yeah he got why they did quarantine, but damn. This stuff took forever, and was expensive. And the only reason pool was entertaining now was because he had someone new to talk too.

She was competitive which Hunter liked a decent amount, though he would be eating his words in a bit. She broke and sunk a solid in right away. Hunter rarely got anything in on the break, so things were definitely interesting now. She lined up another shot and took the shot, sinking another one. The third shot didn't bare any fruit, but damn. He wasn't ready to eat his words that fast. Once she told him it was his turn, he took aim with the cue and lined up an easy shot. "So how long have you been here? You don't seem that old if you don't mind me saying."The stripped ball went in with ease, and another almost easy shot was lined up. The white ball, a solid ball, then a stripped ball, all in line with one of the corner sockets. "Huh." Feeling bold, he lined up the shot, and hit. At first things were going good, then the stripped ball entered the socket, then the solid one got close, and eventually fell. "Mother fucker." His tone was hushed, he didn't think he could start fights in here with profanity, but he didn't want to chance it too much.

It was at this moment that he looked around and saw that the other girl who wanted to play pool had left. Didn't take him long to find her, she was watching, just waiting for her turn he guessed. She was hanging out with the red headed girl who seemed to want to avoid Hunter at all costs. Even before he had lost it on day 1, she seemed to want nothing to do with him. He didn't get it, then again he wasn't the most sociable of people. "Your turn." He stopped mid sentence, just registering that she said something else earlier. Did she call him cutie? "Yeah uh... Your turn... Nikki" He decided that maybe this was why he was struggling to pull words again. He also decided this time in quarantine is dulling his ability to stay aware of his surroundings. Or maybe he was being too relaxed? And why did Nikki call him cutie? Was she just paying a compliment? Was it more then a compliment? Hunter regretted not being more socially adept.

Manny had realized soon after his little speech that he had done it again. He had spoken more in a couple minutes then the rest of his little team did in a single day. Sure, he wasn't a hugger, but damn was he a talker. It helped in his medical days to help people he worked with stay comfortable and to distract them from him yanking a tooth from their mouth. But in cases of well adapted survivors, he was a a shining light when it was dark and everyone needed a good night sleep. He had said several times he would work on it, so far, he has made little progress. If he did get the job where he thought he was going to, he would have to work on that anyways. Though he did wonder, how would their little team hold up once they were integrated into Camp Mexico Beach? It was clear that they were not all fits with each other, and many were put together by situational events. They had a bond that couldn't be broken now, but it didn't change the fact that they were not likely to interact nearly as much anymore once things got going.

Manny did let out a chuckle seeing the can of Spaghetti-O's. "Oh my God..." He said with a smile on his face. He had completely forgotten about this noodle war until just now. Manny never really understood the feud that was going on, but he didn't care. It was something simple and nice that kept moral pretty damn high among their group. Manny backed off for a bit letting everyone else get some time to catch up with Thana. Soon enough, Panama came in and started listing off names. Pretty quickly Manny noticed that for the most part it was members of Team Eden, plus Ash, the Captain. He wondered what this was about, but his best guess was something to do with Thana, as to his understanding everyone here knew her a decent amount.

The group was escorted down the hall towards a room that said briefing. Manny found that strange and was wondering even more what all of this could be about? Did this mean they were staying? Was there something that they were all pulled in to cross reference? The room resembled something like he would expect from a guidance counselor office, a desk set up with a small group of chairs facing it. What Gunny had in mind for them? Who knows, but Manny felt as ready as he could for it. Though the look of confusion was definitely clear on his face.

Hunter got pulled out of his trance when one of the guards walked towards the pool table he had learned to call home. His first though, Oh shit what did I do this time?! But, she came alone, and didn't have a gun drawn. So before Hunter said anything out loud, he stopped to think about what was happening here. Another thing he took note of, she was young. Probably younger then he was, surprisingly, not many people in that descriptor nowadays. And she... wanted to play pool? Hunter every day was more confused by these people. They were extremely strict in many areas, but very... relaxed in others. "Sure..." He agreed to pool, he was tired of it, but maybe a new player would help. Plus, maybe this was a test, or something worse. For now, he would go along until he had an idea what was going on. But he would be mindful. She reminded him of someone he knew a few years ago, and he wasn't sure if that was a good thing or not. He decided he would work on not over thinking it and let things play out for now.

She started, and Hunter would follow suit. His pool abilities have gotten better over recent days so he didn't suck nearly as much as he did a couple days ago. He did take note of a decent amount of the people in here being called out. He didn't really know anyone's name yet. He didn't spend any time with anyone outside of a couple people. He took note of the old man he shared a room with, the girl who seems like would make a better pirate then he would, the Captain, the girl who came in with the extra gun in play, and the girl who pinned him and threatened to break his arm. He knew some of their names, but not all. He made a mental note to learn more names. Once they left Hunter turned his attention back on the girl he was playing pool with. "Kinda surprised that anyone from here is willing to interact with me. Figured word got around pretty fast that I am the problem child of the group." He mentioned this for a few reasons. The main one, to try and understand her more as a guard, and as a person. Another being, he was legitimately confused why anyone from Camp Mexico Beach would want to interact or be near him. Though he passed off the comment with a smile, as if it were a joke. "Name's Hunter. What's yours?" His joke smile was gone at this point, he just kept a focused look towards the pool table as he played. Though his focus would be on her reaction.

What Hunter wasn't expecting was another person to ask to join in. His first thought was "What the fuck is with this pool table?!" So far, it has done more for his reputation here then he has himself. "I mean, I don't mind. Though I should warn you, I've done nothing but pool for a few days now. I'm a bit of a pro." He lied with a joking smile. Sure he had gotten better, but that wasn't a high bar to beat. His skills were limited. Hunter did recognize the girl as friends with the red head girl he tried talking to on day 1. Though they seemed closer then friends, Hunter made another mental note to figure that out more. Family maybe? Group family? That happened sometimes when the world ended. He didn't offer a name to her though, he made his introduction known to all members of quarantine on day 1, and knew he lost that first chance. He would continue to try and play pool without seeming like a paranoid asshole looking for ways to fight off the whole room. Though that was a habit that wouldn't leave, he would work to be less obvious about it.

Manny stood in what felt like shock when Thana saluted him. He... He wasn't sure how to react in this case. He wasn't military, so his best guess was this was a sign of respect that normally someone outside of the military wouldn't receive. He did his best to salute back, but it was clear it wasn't something he did often. Or ever really. "I uh... Thank you." He spoke taken back by this. He stopped his simple salute and let Thana get her greetings from everyone else. Manny had never done the things he did for praise. He didn't become a doctor in his early life to make money, though there were some selfish reasons in the mix, he did it mostly to do better by a world that he otherwise didn't give two shits about until that point. Even in his aging years, he never worked to be rich, he had plans to work until he physically couldn't anymore. Then maybe retire.

Thalia spoke next. Also thanking Manny for what he did all those months ago. Looking back on it, he wasn't sure she did say anything out loud prior to now, but he was never looking for it. "You may be surprised to know this, but I am not a hugger. I haven't really hugged someone since I was last married, so you're fine." He said with a chuckle. "But don't downplay what you did for me. If you and the rest of Team Eden didn't come when you did..." He stopped. Looking back, he was one of the lucky ones. He had only been there a couple days. He had seen others who have been there longer, and had the unfortunate fate of still being alive. "There's no telling what could have happened to me." He lied. He knew, he saw what would happen to him. "The rest of you too. Thana, Alexander, Beatrice. And... Everyone else who didn't make it. I would not be here if it wasn't for all of you. Even if I didn't get caught by those..." He didn't dare call them people. "By them. I am no skilled fighter, or survivor. I spent most the recent years inside walls and walls, and rarely stepped outside them. Like so many others in the early days, I would not have made it without help from people who knew what they were doing. So... Thank you. All of you." He decided to end his talk here, he knew for a fact that there were a few people in his small group that thought of him as a bit of an over talker sometimes.

They were probably right, going back to the fact that Manny was not an adjusted survivor. He was simply an old doctor who talked much, and said hello to everyone. His only real survivor skill was his experience with a shotgun, anything else was from many years ago from before he decided to change his lifestyle.

Everyone seemed to be getting very emotional. He understood emotional, but there was clearly something going on here he didn't understand. So many people who should have been random strangers seemed to know each other, but it seemed everyone that was here knew each other in some way shape or form. That made Hunter uncomfortable. Everyone... Except him. He decided maybe he shouldn't think about it too much, there was probably something not related to his maybe to be soon death to explain it all. Someday he'd prob around and try to figure it out, unless he got shot or kicked out. Then he would lose all interest in the matter. The woman carrying the gun seemed to know a lot of people here too, that seemed odd but maybe she came in right before everyone by a few hours or a day or two. That seemed probable. Something struck him as odd about the woman though, something other then the gun on her hip that Hunter kept eyeing despite his attempts to not look at it. She seemed... Familiar.

The first thing that came to Hunter's mind, was that he needed to stop over thinking things. He was just convincing himself that he knew her because everyone seemed to know someone here. Then it clicked, she was the girl in the home video! Or at least someone closely related. It was hard to tell because of the scars on her face. But that changed all of his ideas on this place and everyone knowing each other. He was sure he was over thinking it, maybe this was some kind of rally point and these people all had reason to be here. He went to take a sip of coffee to help clear his head, only to realize he was still out of coffee. Forgetting at first he finished it trying to gain the courage to apologize to Tatiana. "... fuck." He spoke looking into the coffee cup. His concerns for the people, the extra gun in play, and if he could stay were sidetracked that his happy calming drink was all gone. After day one, they were all put on one cup a day ration. After the amount of coffee they went through the first day, it made sense, but still. Coffee.

Looking around the room, it was clear that everyone was going through there moments right now. In some ways, that was sweet, in other ways, it meant that trying to be social was a bad idea right now. He tried for a while, even made some good progress this week, sure he would struggle and would rarely start anything socially, but he went along with it, and other then the first day he figured he did okay. He looked back at the pool table. The fucking pool table. If he stayed, he would make an effort to add more things to do here. Anything, even if it was work, fucking something. He actually liked pool when he first came into this room. He realized his thoughts were wondering again, he was stressed, they were going to learn soon if they were going to stay or not. He knew his chances were not great, he wasn't even sure if he wanted to stay. But his options were running out.

Hunter had faced many challenges in his lifetime. His first deployment, he was stationed to assist with the evacuations in his state. Every step of the way was a lose. HE had dealt with countless people who would hurt others to make their lives easier. He has fought hunger, dehydration, the stress from being alone, and this chat with Tatiana ranked fairly high on that list. Without a list in front of him, he would guess like 8th hardest thing he has done in recent years. Though the solution for making things end well wasn't the same as the next 7. After Hunter waited for her response, she spoke a very simple reply. In her heavy Russian accent, she said they were good. The terms were simple, the response was simple. He... wasn't ready for that. Though, he wasn't really sure what to expect. Did he expect to get tackled again? Honestly yes. He was ready for those that cared about her to put him back in his place in the corner of the room with a coffee cup in hand and wait him out until he got confirmation that he would be kicked out. He almost expected a punch from Tatiana. A good one to misaligned his jaw. This... He wasn't prepared for.

Struggling to pull words again he took a sip of his coffee. He was clearly trying to speak, but nothing was able to come out. "I uh.. I..." This all felt off for him. Most people he had met had either tried to kill him, or he shoved them away because he didn't know how to handle things peacefully. "Uh... thank you..." He spoke, still struggling for words. But he was glad to be able to do speak that. "Sorry again..." He took another sip of his coffee. His cup was almost empty at this point. He figured he had spoken enough at this point, no reason to push things and make it worse. So he stepped away.

Once away from the awkward conversation that he made awkward he made his way back to the pool table. After looking at it for maybe 10 seconds, he decided he had enough pool for the year and needed to find something else to do. Taking time to look about the room, he saw that the Captain had returned, and he looked like shit. But he was smiling so Hunter shrugged it off. Sparring gone wrong maybe? Or... Sparring gone right? He didn't spar much so he didn't know how it was supposed to go.

What Hunter did notice were the two people who just walked into the room, also wearing the same bands as the rest of them. The uniform was easy enough to recognize as not Army and Not Marines. He wasn't completely sure what Air Force Field uniforms looked like, but Navy blue was recognizable as... Well Blue. Though for all he knew, Air Force. Or Coast Guard... Now he wished he payed better attention to the other branches. The other guy was a bigger well built man. Someone Hunter did not want to spar with. The woman, had clearly seen better days. So have they all, but her face clearly showed it. What also got his attention, is that unlike all the others in quarantine, she was armed. The only one outside of the guards who were armed. A pistol, a holstered one at that, but a pistol none the less.

The fact that she had the gun on her said a lot about her, more then the hell that had clearly come across her face. Who the hell was she? Did she know someone who trusted her with it? And if so, why did she need it in here? That made Hunter uneasy. He remembered what Maddoc told him in the interview, and tried to suppress his thoughts about what would happen. But it was hard none the less. He did take note, that many people in here knew her it seemed. He found that odd that so many people that knew each other all landed up here. Was this town some rally point for another larger group? Did all these people know each other before shit hit the fan? It was confusing. He had no reason to approach her, so he stayed put by the pool table trying not to stare at her sidearm. But who was she?

Still worried about Ash Manny was trying to find the best way to approach the situation. The hardest part was that he was smiling, what the hell happened to lead to that? Manny walked his way over to Alexander hoping that the old Vet maybe had a better guess then Manny. Was it some kind of military joining ritual? He had known many people who were in the military, his second partner was in the military, and he never heard anything like this happening? "You have any idea what could have happened?" Ash didn't seem to be keen on sharing what happened personally based on what others were doing.

Though the new people walking into the room didn't answer, Wayne's comments to Ash gave him a few ideas. Though he had to take everything the man said with a good spoon of salt. Though the taller man he didn't ring any bells for Manny, the woman got his attention. Her scars were harsh, her leg was wrapped up, and she wore some kind of military uniform that Manny couldn't place. Or maybe it was a strange hunting garb? But taking another look, that didn't matter. "Thana?" He couldn't believe his eyes at first. He knew he was getting up there in age, but... He didn't think he was delusional yet? Watching Thalia go over and hug the woman confirmed his thoughts. There was a large mix of emotions that passed through his mind, but the main was, was joy and relief.

He walked his way over to their former leader, still in partial disbelief. "You... You're... You're alive." He spoke, his confused tone drifting to almost solid joy by the end of the sentence. He wouldn't hug her unless she prompted it. Despite Manny's social nature, he wasn't much of a hugger. He was debating between trying to improvised a solute or something else? Deciding that he didn't want to make a fool of himself he held off on a solute, it seemed easy but he would probably miss details that were easy for actual military personal. "I'm... I'm glad to see you're alright. Can I get you anything? This place has... Everything. We have a lot of things here in quarantine and..." He struggled to speak, what would he say here?

He knew what he wanted to say, Where have you been? But now wasn't the time. He wondered of the new scaring had something to do with it? Most likely yes. That looked... Less then great. He wondered what had caused it. He wanted to ask if she was okay, but they had doctors here, so that felt redundant. So he just smiled, and tried to keep his thoughts in line as this almost unreal event took place. "I'm glad you made it."

Day 4: The fourth day was simple for Manny. His interview was over, Alexander came back on two feet, and damn was it a sight to see. Whatever contraption they put together was about a hundred times better then anything Manny could improvise. "So? Was it Terminator?" He asked with a slight laugh. It was good to see the man walk again. To add on the good news, the baby walk walking too! Sure he would to get to know him, but the parents didn't seem as up for that. He didn't blame them for that. He also noticed Hunter being social, and hasn't had an outburst since that first day. Sure he still gave Manny the creeps at times, but he seemed to be doing better.

Room reassignments came today after dinner. Manny stayed in the same room which was nice, though Hunter and Ash got reassigned. Alexander got moved into his room though. He didn't mind that, they were used to backing each other up when need be. Even with one foot, the man was still a much better fighter then Manny. Overall, it was looking good. Boredom seemed to be a common theme for many in recent days, though Manny found that odd. There were so many books available! How could anyone be bored?

Day 5: Manny continued his chores with a refreshed attitude, and not feeling like shit anymore he worked as hard as his aging body could. Though as things started to look up, Manny had to remember that nothing was perfect. Tatiana's interview had lasted well over 4 hours. She seemed to have become even more distant because of it too. What the hell kind of interview did everyone else get? His was short and sweet, the interviews seemed to be getting longer, and people seemed to be coming back worse and worse. Though a few people had shorter ones, they still had a defeated feeling to them when they came back. The exception being Amelia, Manny didn't really know her outside of catching her name though. He did remember her being pretty upset after she got her hair cut, so seeing her relaxed now was nice.

Manny did notice that many people seemed to be getting bored while in quarantine. He found that odd as they had so many books here! Even though the selection was limited here, the options were not half bad. Sure books weren't for everyone, but things didn't seem that bad? He did take note that after Amelia came back from her interview Hunter left for his. From what he could tell of the boy, it seemed like things could get worse here, it would all depend on the boy though.

Day 6: Manny was finally understanding the boredom issue. Sure he loved books, but damn it would be nice to do other things. He missed working, he missed jogging, or even just walking. He noticed Thalia and Ash doing pushups, though that would be something Manny wasn't in as good of shape as he used to be. So that he would have to pass on. He watched a couple shows on the TV a bit, but he was never really a fan of Television. He wasn't very good at pool, and he didn't want to push things with the soldier boy anymore. Cards were an option, if he got too bored of his book, he would join a game later.

Ash came back from his Interview today. He looked like he had been in a full on brawl?! Manny having been a doctor for almost his entire life felt he should at least do a simple check, but where to start? Sure the man physically looked like shit, but... He was smiling?

Day 4: Today was overall a decent day for Hunter. He played a game of pool, no one died, no one threatened to kill him. Overall, a win. Plus, he was working towards improving things with at least some people here. Though Hunter was horribly out of practice when it came to pool, he still felt he did a decent game, even though he struggled to play a three way game of pool when the balls were normally only stripped and solid colors. It was weird, but it was fun just hitting balls over and over again. He wasn't sure what he thought of Erica at the moment. Nigel seemed pretty decent though, someone Hunter could probably get to like eventually. "Hunter's the name yeah." He spoke answering his prior question. Hunter didn't mind small talk, especially if it wasn't about the early days. "I used to go to highschool a town away from where I lived, Penn Yan Academy. Nice enough school, though conflicts made it hard to stay focused on it." Soon Nigel had to leave for his interview. Hunter hoped that whatever he had for an interview didn't lead to him getting shot in the back of the head once he left the room.

Erica also left for her interview today. Playing pool Hunter didn't really keep track of time much so he wasn't really sure how long the two were gone each. But it didn't seem too long. Hunter made a note that it could be helpful to get a watch at some point. It never hurt to have a good watch. Or even a cheap one. At some point after dinner Gunny came in to let everyone know that they were getting room changes. So instead of the Captain and the old man, he was getting Nigel. He seemed nice enough, so Hunter wouldn't complain. No interview for Hunter today. Another thing he was fine with. More time for pool and... pool.

Day 5: Today Hunter did his chores, did them well, then went back to pool and coffee. Sure he liked pool, but god he wanted anything else to do. Did they set it up like this on purpose? To test people in situations where they get figity? To see how people would entertain themselves? TO stress people out waiting? God, no matter what it was, it seemed fucked up. Sure he could probably join a game of cards, if it wasn't for the fact he didn't know how to play any card games. He had no plans to admit that to anyone here, especially Wayne, he could see Wayne saying something stupid if he found out about that. So no, cards were off the table. So pool... more pool. So much fucking pool. On the plus side, if things went wrong, a pool cue made a better weapon then a coffee cup.

Hunter was partially convinced that they were skipping interviews today, then he remembered the Russian woman left this morning. And was still gone... Hunter saw this as bad for a lot of reasons. 1) Most interviews so far has been less then an hour, or barely over. 2) Was there more going on outside of interviews that should be noted? 3) Out of everyone to target, the mother seemed like an odd choice. Then again, she did throw the first punch. But the Captain took it well enough. 4) He wouldn't get a chance to say anything to her if she didn't show before quarantine was up. He felt guilty about day one still, but with nowhere to go he wasn't comfortable talking in front of anyone here. Especially since half had threatened to kill him or beat him up.

She came back hours after those thoughts crossed his mind. She had the look of someone who once had the confidence of the world, then had all of it ripped out from under her. "What the fuck happened here?" He wasn't talking to anyone in particular, mostly thinking out loud. Two more people went in for interviews. The new comer who Hunter still didn't get his name, though everyone else seemed to know him, and the used to be red head girl who wanted nothing to do with Hunter. Before he gave good reason for it in his mind. Then his name was called. Glancing at the Russian mother he wondered what was in store for him. He held the pool cue for a while, finally opting to set it down. There is a reason the human race decided to stop using sticks and stones. Bullets did more, and at a fraction of the effort.

After two hours, and forty five minutes, Hunter came back. The stress on his face was clear, the fear was easy to see. He looked like he was told the most important bits of information in the world, and had no idea what to do with that information. He wandered his way over to where he set his coffee cup down and went to take a sip. Once the cup was upside down over his head he realized he had finished it before he left. With the mix of emotions he was having he wasn't sure what to do, though the motions he did implied he was ready to pelt the cup to the wall. He stopped himself before the motions really went into play, but he wanted to so much at this point. He decided, this place is cruel, probably more cruel then the outside world. But he had to make it work. He kept to himself in a chair for the rest of the day. One plus side to this afternoon, no more fucking pool.

Day 6: Unlike previous days where Hunter put decent effort into his chores he was slower today, distracted on his own thoughts. He did his job still, but it was noticeable when he stopped and thought. Unlike prior cleanings, he didn't find himself looking for potential weapons and where to hide them. Though the job was done, and done well, it just took longer then usual. He had stopped eyeing people as threats, and how he would take them out if need be. He stopped internally plotting how to get a gun in his hands. Compared to the boy who walked in with a plan to take on the world, and ready to take it down with him, he had been broken. Now he just went through the motions until he could figure out what he had to do next. No, he was pretty sure he knew what he had to do. He was just scared to. Because if he fucked up it would mean everything to him.

After breakfast, Hunter took his cup of coffee and walked over to the couch. He was slow, and tried to hold the coffee in a non threatening way. But he held it tight like it was the only thing keeping him going and he would collapse if he lost it. He kept distance from the young baby, making careful note that he would probably get beaten to death with his own cup if he got too close to him. He stopped a bit off to the side of the couch, away from the young baby, and with a bit of distance between himself and Tatiana. "You're right. I know nothing." He spoke like he was struggling to get the words out. "I... I uh... fuck..." His words broke, and he was having trouble speaking. "Sorry just... Trying to figure out... how to word this." He took a sip of his coffee, then took a deep breath. Deciding the coffee was more help, he took another sip of that. "I'm trying to apologize... but I don't think a simple one liner will do it... If you want me to stop here I will, but I really do want to make things..." He wasn't sure what he wanted to make things now that he thought of it. "I fucked up. So if I could get a chance to fix that it would be awesome. If not, I get it, and I will walk away, and we wont ever talk again." Hunter waited for a response from Tatiana and to get tackled again. By who, could be anyone. Then he took another sip of coffee. The coffee helped, but damn did he wish it was something stronger. He barely noticed when Ashed walked in looking like he fought the world and the world tapped out.

Manny did a light chuckle to Alexander's reply. "I'm no Saint, just a man who is working to better himself and the world around him. Good luck over there Arnold Schwarzenegger." He said still smiling. "Now go on so we can see what they give you." It was a lot easier to see the good things in life when they were happening right in the moment. Alexander had struggled for a while with losing his leg, the fact that he was getting a new one now was impressive, and exciting! To top things off, it seemed The Soldier Boy, Hunter, was being social. He figured that was a good start to anything in terms of improving the boy's state of mind. Manny had tried a couple times, but he didn't bite. Manny had to admit, this wasn't his specialty. Maybe Alexander was better suited for this since they were both Military. But the boy wasn't being loud, aggressive, and was interacting with people. Good start.

To up the pot even more, the little cute baby of the New Mexico Quarantine had started to walk. It was more of a stand at first, but hearing the excitement of those steps was absolutely AMAZING! Sure Manny was disappointed that he missed the actual steps, but it didn't diminish his excitement. "This world will never stop amazing me. Even in the middle of all... This. I am still impressed." He said to no one in particular. He wanted to move to get a better look, but he remembered how trying to interact with the parents on the first day went. He would let them have this moment to themselves. He wondered what that would have been like to be the parents in that case, Manny never having kids had never experienced anything like what they would have been experiencing.

Though, he did think that if he was a parent, he would have liked to enjoy the moment with as little outside interference as possible. Through the excitement of the moment, Manny had barely noticed the changing of the guards. The younger one though, seemed younger then the Soldier boy. She must have been in an earlier stage in school when all this started. Manny started to contemplate it, then he heard his name called for an interview. Though he wasn't the first, he was called up fast. Wayne came back in less then 20 minutes from his, and seemed... Off. What kind of interviews were these?! Manny stood up, and followed in for the interview.

He came back in roughly half an hour. He overall seemed pretty excited, though it was the type of excited a drunk person got when they heard a joke, saw everyone else laugh, have no idea what's going on, and are laughing only because everyone else is laughing. Manny is pretty sure he did good, though he isn't sure. He is still struggling to understand everyone here. Though progress is progress, even if it was... Different. It didn't seem like an interview for the job he thought he was going to get. He was... Okay with this.

Being social is not one of Hunter's strong suits. In fact, it is a rather weak skill set of his. Sure once he got to know people he was better about things, but everyone here was a stranger and a potential threat until proven otherwise. It didn't help that Hunter tried to start a game of pool to just take pot shots and see what he still knew. First, the man who came over was the one who tended to talk like he was from some over the top drama show. Though when he came over an asked Hunter for a game of pool, he seemed... To at least not fit the demographic Hunter had given to most of the people here. He spoke in a calm polite voice, Hunter figured he would give the man a shot.

Before he could reply, another person came over. The other Monroe. Hunter wasn't sure how he felt about her, he had limited interactions with her, and she did make a solid effort to remove herself from him by name back on the bus. Though, looking at it, he would have too in her shoes. Sure, he preferred to be alone, but what was eh going to do to stop them? Tell them no and start a fight using a pool cue? Though that sounded badass it wasn't something that he would have been able to win here. Guns beat sticks pretty much any day. Plus, Hank's words went through his head. He needed friends.

Hunter attempted a smile, though his concern was more visible then he would have liked. "Sure, sure sure sure." He spoke faster then he wanted to, but he didn't come across as hostile or threatening, more awkward then anything else. "Haven't played since highschool, but could be fun." He stopped for a moment to notice the change in guards, the interviews had begun, and the guards they had were being pulled to watch those leaving he guessed. Seemed odd, but maybe they figured someone might be a threat more if they had the ability to be loose. And in all honesty, the ability to watch a single door and make sure no one left, anyone could do. Escorting was a different game.

Going back to his game of pool he got the attention of the others playing. Out of everyone here, he had nothing really negative about them to say, they didn't seem like they would stab him in the back if he looked away for a moment. They could be a good start. "So, who wants to break? I good no matter what." He didn't want to admit that he was worried about fucking up his first shot in over six years. Though, he did smile at that thought, he was worried about how he might be judged for his skills in a game of pool. Better then being worried about being shot.

The video was hard for Manny, but he kept watching. It was nice to see the two of them happy. It was easier to watch when Alexander came over to and sat on the couch with him. "Yeah, her singing is amazing. I wish we would have had a chance to hear it before now." Maybe the others have heard it before now, but this was a first for Manny, and he couldn't lie, he was impressed. He would sit and watch for a while before Atticus came in and shut it off. Though the old dentist did catch a glimpse of the makeshift divider across the room. He wondered if those who were closer to those in the video were struggling more. Manny wasn't apart of the old group, so he understood that there were plenty of people who in this room probably had a closer relationship to her.

Atticus had more reason to be in here other then a friendly hello. Past retrieving and presumably returning the home video, there was also grabbing Thalia and Alexander for prosthetics. Then there were interviews that would be coming up as well. Manny wondered if he would be back to more medical work, or if he could go right back into his dentist work as well? No... Probably not, there was always going to be someone who needed help, and he didn't know how many doctors and nurses they had here, but it always was good to have more. If something big happens, or if one of the medical figures is hurt, there is always a high demand for doctors. But if he was in a position to not be a doctor, at least not a standard doctor, just for a little bit, that could be exciting. To not have to handle life threatening situations anymore, it could be pleasant.

Manny gave a pat to Alexander's shoulder. "Thank you. You're a good man." He spoke calmly to his fellow Baby Boomer. "I look forward to seeing what they have put together for you." He was feeling a bit better, though that guilt would never leave him. Not really. He had a job to do, and the boy at Eden was dead now. He could have been more verbal, and Thana might have stayed. He decided, no matter what he was determined to do here, he would do it to the best of his ability. Anything form being a dentist again, to a professional limb remover, he would get his job done as well as needed.

For now, he needed to focus on the positive. His closest living friend was about to get a new leg, they were safe, they had food daily, things were okay. Sure they were hard at times, sure the world had ended and roughly 99% plus of the population was dead, but things were okay. They were alive. They were breathing, they were well fed, and they were protected. More or less. They were able to worry about simple things again. It was nice in it's own way, though it didn't help too much about the stress of the past.

There were a lot of emotional people here giving Hunter a run for his money. He knew he had his own issues with emotional breakdowns the last few days, but that he figured was mostly trying to adjust to this new lifestyle. While the video ran, he noticed several people crying. Did they really miss the old days that much? Hunter found it odd overall. Sure, the old days were less likely to die, but now they made the rules, and they didn't have to pay taxes anymore. At least in the same way as before. Now someone could travel the entire country and not have to worry about going bankrupt doing so. But these people were crying over this? He remembered the first day here, when he had his breaking point hit. He figured the chances of so many people from several separate groups knowing Anyone in the video were slime, so he didn't think that was the case. "Okay then?" He said in a confused tone as everyone continued to be emotional. At one point he noticed the Russian woman dragging the bookcase across the room. He wondered if the guards if the guards would do nothing, or threaten to shoot her. So far, nothing.

Atticus came in, and the first thing Hunter noticed was the sidearm on the man. Figuring that looking at it too long would draw attention to him, he decided to hold off on identifying it. But he did take note of it, one more gun in play then before. Something smaller too. Something that could be concealed, or held with a single hand, leaving the other free for other actions. Though Hunter preferred two handed shooting, single handed was not out of the question. But again, he wouldn't pay too much attention to it now. He stopped the video that made so many tear up, and took it. Said something about interviews starting soon. But first, the pirate applicants were gonna get new peg legs and hooks. Hunter decided that if he was to lose his hand, he would go for a multi purpose metal stump. Something he could attach a blade too, or something he could grip the pump of a shotgun with. Either or sounded nice. If the leg, something with a hidden compartment. A good one too. Though that would depend on how much he lost.

Moving on from those thoughts, he figured if it was an interview, he would need to decide if he would stay or not. He figured he would stay long enough to get his strength back up, re familiarize himself with general combat and survival, earn some spare food rations, and then get back to it. Sure he didn't have any leads now, but he had Izibell. She was motivation enough. He might try North next, he vaguely remembers his mom mentioning something about a planned family trip there to see other family, though he didn't know where that family lived... He had time to figure that out though.

For now, Hunter decided he needed to occupy himself. TV was getting boring, and he didn't care to blindly look through the books right now. What was free, was the pool table. No one had claimed it yet today. Making his way to the currently unoccupied table he decided he would just do some practice shots. He hadn't played a game since he was a teenager, so he figured it would be fun. Seemed better then watching a video of other people having fun and listening to everyone crying over it. He set up the balls and grabbed his cue stick. Who knows, maybe this place could be decent?

The last few days for Manny have been a mix of joy, and of pain. Though he was enjoying his time in Mexico Beach so far, he had succumbed to his own stupidity. With his medical background he should have known to be more careful with solid foods then he was, unfortunately he was just happy to enjoy it. And for him, that meant 3 days of stomach pains that made his life hell. Though he tried to pull his part in his new set of jobs, he struggled to keep up until the recently when the stomach pains finally passed him. He felt back for not being able to do much to help Wayne when it came to kitchen work, but he promised he would make it up once he was up to par again. This morning he was able to help more, and did his best to make up for the last few days. He was thankful that Wayne was able to pick up the slack and then didn't give Manny a hard time for struggling to keep up.

Now that he was better, he was hoping to try and enjoy his time here. He had gotten a lot of reading done, had watched some shows with the others, though TV wasn't a big thing for him. He missed going outside more, but he understood why they didn't. That was probably what he was looking forward too the most right now, being able to go on long walks outside and enjoy the sun. Back when he ran his own office, he would spend a half hour before work walking, a half hour during his lunch walking, and then another hour and a half in the evening walking. Most of the time listening to Audio books or older style music. He wondered if he would be able to get his hands on a portable CD player and some audio books so he could try and restart that habit again. It would be nice to go on walks without fear of being eaten alive by making a wrong turn.

The first couple nights were hard to sleep due to Hunter's restlessness, but he didn't hold that against him. Though Manny had tried to strike up a conversation with him a few times, he made no luck. The boy wasn't too keen on opening up to him. He wondered what it would take to help calm that boy down, and help him adjust to regular life again. He wondered if the boy even could at times. The way he eyed others when they got close, how he always seemed to be looking for an exit, the way he would hold items at times like if they were weapons but deciding how to use them. But he seemed to be getting better through the days. More or less. Times like this though, Manny wondered if he should have gotten into psychology and helped people in that regard. Though, he had been able to do a lot in his time as a dentist, and a post apocalyptic medic. Thinking about it, he wasn't sure how much he could have done as a psychology. Or a brewer.

In the main social room, people were settling down and enjoying themselves. Wayne turned on a video that seemed like some sort of home video. Manny didn't have a lot of interest in TV right now, but he was happy to know that home videos were still a thing. Reminded him that there was a chance to get things back to normal. He was excited for how things were going to be. Though, the voice he picked up from the video caught his attention. He made his way over to the TV, and saw Thana. He wasn't able to process it at first, but he sat down, trying to take it in. Then he saw the boy too. The boy he decided was more likely to live without imminent attention... so he held off on treating him in favor of Thana. He died while he worked on Thana... who died what felt like forever ago. He hated himself for his feelings towards her after she left. With both of them, he wondered if he could have done more. The way that Thana recovered from her wounds he wondered if the man and Thana could have been saved if he started on him first. He wondered if he could have convinced Thana to stay. Now, they were more faces across his mind of people he had failed. People he wasn't fast enough for, people he chose to let die, people he didn't fight hard enough for.

Manny kept to himself though about how he felt. Though he was a very out going person, he rarely shared what he was feeling as it seemed to rarely help anything. Manny sat on the couch, just staring at the TV, doing his best to hide his guilt. He sits, thinking back, and wondering if he should have started on Gavin first then Thana. Was Thana more likely to make it? Or was she about as bad and just was too stubborn to let it slow her down? Then he thought... Does it matter now? They are both dead anyways. He had failed to convince her leaving was a poor idea, though he's sure she meant well. Though Thalia needed real medical supplies... and who would go with her at that moment anyways? Alexander could hold his own, but he was limited drastically in his movement. Manny himself was making sure that Thalia didn't bleed out or get infected. Thalia couldn't go for those same reasons. And leaving Manny as the most able bodied wouldn't work either. So Beatrice wouldn't work either... Though now Manny wondered if Alexander and Thalia passed him again in terms of physical ability. Looking at that, he wondered if there was much he could have done in either case. He just kept watching, thinking over and over how things could have played out differently.

The last few days were surprisingly relaxing for Hunter. Though he suffered from some nightmares without Izibell's help they got better as he got more comfortable with this new place. His stress levels started to drop, and he started to mellow out. He was still worried about what this place might be like, but between the semi comfortable nights of sleep, the calm and peaceful man called the General, and figuring out that Izibell was just fine and happy, he was relaxing. He got a daily cup of coffee, regular food, and his overall health seemed to be improving already. Sure his body rejected his new diet at first, but it passed fast. He's pretty sure he has put on weight too. He figured at the rate things were going, he'd be back up to proper fighting strength in a few weeks. After sleeping a few nights without being stabbed he also felt more relaxed in that sense too. Now when he gave people looks, they were more out of curiosity than fear. Though he still kept a watchful eye on anyone that got close to him, he rarely seemed ready to end a fight before it started with them.

He ended up getting cleaning duty with Hank. Hunter didn't mind this, in fact, out of everyone here Hunter more or less tolerated him. When Hunter lost it a few days back, he was one of the few people who seemed to be trying to help Hunter not to fuck up with his advice. No matter how brief it was. He took note of that. This also gave Hunter a better chance to stash a weapon if he ever found one. Since he was cleaning his own room he could hide a weapon and the only other likely person to find it would be Hank. Though he found a couple blunt things that could act as weapons, none he could hide easy, or could go missing without notice. Plus, he wasn't staging an uprising or a prison break. Mostly, he just wanted a plan B in case things went south. So a weapon fell low on his to do list. He still had fists, but they had Izibell. So unless a near perfect chance showed itself, he would probably leave whatever he found alone. But he felt better knowing he was in a position to get away with it if he wanted to.

Hunter has spent most of his days watching TV, enjoying the meals, and overall very bored. He felt he didn't have anything productive to do outside of his morning chores. He still didn't trust anyone here enough to talk to them much out of a passing hello, but he at least felt that if anyone was going to stab him in the back, he was safe. While in quarantine at least. Anything after that would be a new game. But for now, things were okay. He felt he had things he needed to do, but very little productive, or it felt like a bad time for them. He wanted to apologize to Tatiana about a few days ago, but he couldn't do it in front of everyone. Too much exposure. Especially considering a few days ago. He would like to do it sooner rather then later, but he couldn't bring himself to do it now. He also wouldn't mind saying something to Maddog and apologizing for his words before he was brought here. Though he thought the threat to shoot him was still way over the top for what Hunter said, he decided he would make an effort.

He thought about Beatrice, the girl who tackled him. He had said some rather rood things to her, but in the panic, he forgot them. Then again, she did tackle him and threaten to break his arm. He would hold off with apologizing to her. He decided she was lower on his to fix relationships list. He would decide later if he ever got around to it. Today on the TV was some kind of party, though the only one Hunter could pick out at first was Gunny. Though Hunter didn't know the man well, he figured it was a safe bet to assume that this was some kind of family or home video. Seemed fun. Though Hunter's family never did big events like this. The closets was family gatherings in the yard where most of the family would be working to make sure the chickens didn't get into the food. Then afterwards him and his siblings would take a rifle or shotgun and target practice on some random piece of junk. Most of the time an old car door. Until their dad caught them with a rifle they shouldn't have access too. Oops. It was nice to watch, since Hunter has more or less adjusted tot he stress of the current situation watching this video didn't make him sad. It reminded him he still had a family somewhere. If anyone could make it through this mess, it was that lot of assholes. His lot of Assholes.

The whole situation was heart warming. Watching this reunion was more proof in Manny's mind that the world could be a kind place if given time. Sure, he didn't know any of these people, not really, but just seeing them happy gave him more hope for the world. Most of the reunion was ended because the General figure was about to arrive. Manny was still nervous about this after hearing about how things worked here. With that sounded like a military dictatorship a lot of things would depend on who this General was. Manny still had a lot of trouble deciding how he felt about this place.

The General wasn't anything like he expected. Sure he wasn't sure what he expected completely, but at closest, he figured an officers uniform, Someone who spoke sharply maybe. But this man seemed like someone Manny might have spend time with before the world ended. Soft spoken, calm, and overall very delightful. He spoke briefly of the history of the place, and he explained the fear of the first few weeks. Manny remembered those times well. The stadium, the parking lot, the times that followed. That first woman outside his office. The way her head tore to pieces from the buckshot... It was dark times for everyone. He can only imagine what it was like for those here when things broke out. Manny had protection from the national guard for a few days, but not long. He wondered what this place was like in the early days, everyone here trying to fend for themselves. From the looks of things, they pulled through above and beyond.

The man's speech was impressive, Manny felt like this was someone he could follow and trust. Manny felt that this man was just what he needed to meet to trust this place. Sure, Manny would need to see how life was here once outside of quarantine, but meeting this man, the man in charge, It was just the boost Manny needed to believe that this place wasn't a military dictatorship. That some form of regular life could take place. It was a good start and Made Manny happy.

When the General left, it was time for everyone to go to their rooms. Manny made his way out to his room. Seemed that Ash or Hunter hadn't made their way in yet. The room was simple, Manny had seen plenty of them in his years and this seemed about the same. The exception being the lock that will be keeping them in their rooms tonight. Manny was tired, chatting with Ash was going to be pretty low on his to do list tonight. He was an old man who needed his rest, and for the first time in what seemed like forever, it was a real bed. He sat himself on the bed closest to the door and found himself dozing off fast. God, he missed real sleep.

Whatever emotions Hunter was feeling aside, it was time for The General to come in. Hunter's experience with most officers tended to be on the negative side. Most reminded him of his father on his worst days. Others ordered him to lock doors with people behind them and open fire when he didn't want to. This man... seemed noting like most officers he had met. This man reminded him of his first lieutenant. A calm man with a warm heart. Though as he didn't look like the man that suffered from eating the barrel of a Beretta Hunter guessed they weren't that much alike. Though meeting the man, Hunter was given the sense that maybe this place wasn't too bad.

The General, an old man who resembled a sweet grandpa, spoke of the early days. How hard they were for everyone. Hunter couldn't deny that. The early weeks for him consisted of his first, and only deployment in the National Guard. It was hell, every step of the way. And never really got better since. The speech was motivational none the less. He still had more he had to decide about this place. But that would be for a later day. Once the speech was done he got up so he could go to his room.

Room 4 was his. Shared with Manny the old man, and Ash the Captain. Two beds, and the door locked from the outside. Fun. He took the chair and used his bathrobe as a blanket. Before he sat down to sleep he moved the chair so he could see the door from where he got comfortable. Not far, just a couple feet towards the main walkway. Then he sat in the chair watching the door. Waiting in case anyone barged in. He would nod off eventually, but not for a while. He wanted to be sure everyone else in the room was asleep, no matter what, he was exhausted, so he would be out in about an hour and a half. He would have more nightmares, but without Izibell to help him out of it, he was in a quiet panic through the night. Never yelling, but clearly upset. This was a new place for him, and a place he was scared about it's future. He was worried about his dog, and he was stressed from these new people. He just needed to make it a week, then he figured he should be fine.
