@Halvtand Regarding the MHA reference, it was supposedly for abilities being similar to quirks, but I kind of leaned towards a more non-specific classification of abilities, so I'll probably resite the source material I'll be drawing inspiration from.
As far as Genos goes, given his backstory, I'd probably say more Accident than Jock. But yeah, the classifications still need work, so I'll still be editing them along the way.
@Animal@JackDLemmy@Renny Added to the first post. Will follow up with the character sheet. Indecisive on whether I'll go for stats or not. Its either general descriptions on what your characters can do or a tier system; I'm leaning towards the former though.
Supernatural - These are your mages, espers, and anything else in between. Your powers step from an ancient artifact, mystical heritage, or some kind of magical training.
Nerds - The brainiacs of the world. They use them big brains of theirs to cook up gadgets and equipment and/or are really proficient in manipulating others.
Jocks - Guys and gals with top level skills with a style of combat. A more “honest” and straightforward approach.
Mutants - People born with a power but one that isn’t natural. Think of natural selection as a lottery, and you're one of the winners. Sort of.
Accidents - These are those one of kind run offs with abilities you just can’t find elsewhere. They are not born with those powers but somewhere along the way they just sort of stumbled into them along the way. You know, those kids that get experimented on and whatnot.
Badasses - Those without superpowers, but manage just fine through sheer skill and finesse. In a world full of superhumans, these guys were unfortunate enough to just be human, but that doesn't stop them from doing what they're doing.
“COME ONE, COME ALL, FOR THE GRAND OPENING OF THE HERO’S ASSOCIATION! WHETHER YOU FIGHT FOR JUSTICE AND A BETTER WORLD - OR WHETHER YOU LOVE THE TASTE OF VICTORY OR THE HEAT OF BATTLE. THE SUPERHERO REGISTRY WELCOMES THE DEFENDERS OF TOMORROW WITH OPEN ARMS. BE READY!”
Our story will feature the Hero’s Association in its heyday - bringing to life the hectic, chaotic era that followed soon after its initial establishment. At this point in time, tiers have not been sorted. The rankings list fluctuates wildly as heroes rise and fall in rank, with those that perish in battle replaced twofold as the association gradually bolsters and irons out its echelons. Talents have not been discovered, threat levels have not been envisaged, and monsters run rampant in the streets. Origins and achievements have yet to be realized. Allies, enemies and organizations have yet to be made, and to most, the S-class is but a thought still lost to the wind.Apple City (The Big Apple). The largest city within the super continent and located right in the middle of it, kinda. It is known not only for its technological advancements but the booming economy and businesses that go about throughout the city as well. Aside from being the hub of scientific research and commerce of all types, it is also considered the safest place in the world. Well, it should be since this was where the headquarters of the World Hero Association was established.
The World Hero Association (WHA). An organization founded by the multi-millionaires that aim to manage all the cities' heroes. Along with its establishment was the National Hero Registry, the database that embraces every recognized hero. They will be responsible for supplying heroes with monetary compensation and equipment, in exchange for and to allow them to continue, their work in protecting the innocent, maintaining peace, and upholding justice.
Sub-Organizations. Under the banner of the WHA exists sub-organizations that are stationed in each city. The larger ones, such as the Big Apple, have several scattered through the city. Smaller cities, on the other hand, typically only have a single one.
This is the world we live in, where a super continent covers most of the planet. There are other smaller islands and land masses that float in its immense ocean, but they aren't too important.
Enemies of Mankind
For now, almost half a century we have observed the apparition of strange beasts and creatures determined on destroying mankind. Their power and intelligence vary, but they have always proved to be formidable threats to humanity.
Monsters are often considered to be on par with natural disasters and acts of God, mostly so that the insurance companies don’t have to pay up for a city getting trashed.
Monster will spawn from time to time and attack cities. They are attracted to human settlements or any large group of humans. They cannot be reasoned with or controlled – the just want to see humanity dead.
You know the old saying – power corrupts, so absolute power corrupts absolutely. Many are those who gleefuly turn their newfound powers on their own kind or to nefarious purposes. The only thing that matters is that crime has skyrocketed and intensified at all levels.
Behind the shadows, rumors are spreading of a political organization that oversees all evil activities in the world. A hierarchy of villains based on the social ranks of evil. Unfortunately, no solid proof of their existence has been available as of present.
